      hello.... thanks for subscribing to my channel..... I just added a video about the phaser/flanger effect..... and there are lots more videos to show you how to use the keyboard effects processor with vocals, guitar or any audio input..... I will make these videos shortly..... this keyboard is the most flexible and tweakable product that Roland has ever made....... there are so many settings and features that are not well documented..... the manual is really just to show you HOW EASY it can be for musicians to use.... but for those who want to dig deeper there is so much more to learn.

    I notice you have videos on the Alesis SR18 how do the sounds compare and is one easier to program, I have the FA06 although I'm yet to play it being stuck in a different part of the world to my new keyboard so your vids are familiarising me with it for the time we unite Thanks

      Hello John Brown ...... you really do not need the Alesis SR-18 once you have the FA-06..... the drum sounds in the FA-06 are very good .... and programming the drum patterns and song sequences is considerably easier in the FA-06 ..... thanks for your interest in my channel and I hope you soon get your FA-06 😊

    Hi Stephen , thank you for the video , i have 2 questions if you dont mind . 1 If you want a gap in your pattern , say kit from start to measure 8 , then no kit for 8 bars and kit back in on measure 16 do you just leave a blank section ? and 2 i noticed when you changed patterns the actual kit changed as well , how do i use multiple patterns but all playing the same kit ? . Thank you in advance. Regards Stixx

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  4 роки тому

      For question 1 probably the easiest thing is to make TWO patterns one with the kick and one without the kick and then combine the 2 patterns in your song..... but you don't have to use patterns at all.... you could record the drums directly into the sequencer on Track 10.... either by playing them on the keyboard or entering the notes into the sequencer using step recording.
      For question 2, you need to use a "pattern group" which is 6 adjacent patterns designed to work together in a song..... I mixed patterns from different groups (I think) and that is what probably caused the kit to change BUT it's very flexible you could set the kit manually per-pattern so you could actually stop the kit changing EVEN when using patterns from different groups.... Maybe I need to make a video to show how to do this ?

    Hi Stephen can the drums in the fa06 be programmed (or used) using midi drum pads I have a yamaha dd65 that i use with my daw plugin

    • @StephenMendes

    can you record from the audio inputs to the sequencer, vocals guitar etc

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  3 роки тому

      No..... the audio inputs (vocals, guitar) go to the Sample Pads (the sequencer can only record MIDI data)...... you can start playback of the Sample Pads as a "MIDI event" in the sequencer but there is no SYNC between audio and MIDI so TIMING might be tricky, if you are not blessed with precision in TIMING then it could be trial-and-error for you ..... but "it is what it is" 😊

      just plug a foot pedal switch into either control 1 or control 2 on the back .... then go into System Settings and select the Pedal tab ..... make the Control jack number you are using read "Start/Stop" and save the settings..... then you can start or stop the sequencer with your foot switch .... works great..... Hi Stephen if I wanted to put a walking bass in with the drum track to play along with, what would be the best way to do this, sorry novice user

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  3 роки тому

      The first step would be to record the Drum track in the sequencer (as a song).... this is necessary because the Rhythm Patterns go on playing forever, so you first combine them in the sequencer track to make a "song" out of them ..... then adding your walking bass is simply a matter of playing the keyboard with a Bass tone while recording on another track of your Sequencer (it has 16 MIDI tracks)..... I would love to do a video for you, but I have to mark these student papers first.... and my next upcoming FA-06 video is showing controlling the "Leslie" speed from the expression pedal in "Hammond organ" mode .... (this was requested ages ago by another subscriber)..... showing how to put together a "song" IS a good video idea .... but you might just have to wait awhile for it 😊

    Can a pedal be set up to stop the rhythm track also in split mode can the volume pedal effect just one side of the split thanks

    • @StephenMendes
      @StephenMendes  3 роки тому

      YES both those things are possible ...... I believe I might already have video on using start/stop for songs AND "live" rhythm track.... volume pedal for one side of a split is new idea for me but I immediately know how to do that (so I could make a video) .... basically you just set up the expression pedal "control socket" to affect the PART (channel) that the SPLIT is on.... it's track 1 for Upper and Track2 for Lower (I think) ..... but I will play around with it over this weekend 😊

      @@johnstudiob2481 it's sounds like an intermittent on the plug-socket connection..... after a while, microscopic corrosion of the "shinyness" of the 1/4" T-R-S plug of the hold pedal can cause a less-than-perfect connection when plugged into the "cheap" sockets on the back of the FA-06... the solution is to "wiggle" it about a bit (side to side movement)..... pull it in and out a few times (make sure the unit is switched OFF before you try this one)..... or "polish" the plug with a suitable cloth ..... (solutions are listed in order of desperation )...... this happens with both the expression pedal and hold pedal on the FA-06...... the equivalent in a guitar cord would be "loads of noise" from the amp whenever the cord is touched (and/or alternate soft volume and high volume whenever the jack is turned in the socket) ..... the springiness of the spring in the jack and the dirtyness of the plug ..... this is all very common experience with anybody who has owned electric guitars .... well the experience you are having with your pedal stems from the same basic cause 😊

    Yes is a WoW Maschine!!!

      Thanks Mate,
      For what is ist Good, to insert empty Pattern?
      With Sync Start i get what i want now!
      I set loop of, put the curser on the record Position, Chose the drum pattern i Need, press rec, no Counts in, Sync start on, ...Start, and the FA record correctly on the position i Need!
      When i Need a „fill-in“ i erase two Bars and set Loop on, and rec inbetween...works Great now!
      But the Choice of the preset pattern are poor, that are the same pattern like on my 20 years old „Boss-RR-864“ ...that sucks!
      I will import some pattern, from my PC ...there is the stuff i Need. I can‘t build them on the Keyboard, its to heavy for me, im not good enougth for that on a keyboard. Maybe in step mode...but there is a Import for me the easyest way!
