Ed, I hope you are still aware your tutorials are still helping people five years later and counting! Thanks so much. Hope to see you at NAMM
Brilliant, I'm so happy to have run across this video again. Amen!
FA is an amazing board, price quality is great. Ed, thanks for your video's
Great to see content being put out for the FA it's a shining light in the Roland range.
This machine is so deep but I keep getting caught up just playing it. Thanks Ed for putting these videos out so I get around to learning what's under the hood.
Again, great info from Ed Diaz... Has helped me through so many pieces of kit, starting from my first synth, the roland jdxi... Thanks mate
Awesome! I never knew there was a step sequencer in the FA! That was the one thing I was disappointed about trying to do some things on my 08... no more! Thanks again Ed!
Thanks for the awesome demo. Step recorder is a great feature, especially as I'm new to rhythm programming.
Thanks Ed! Good stuff right there. The things the FA can do is amazing! Peace.
Great videos. Thanks Ed
Fast help - perfect. Thank you.
Спасибо за ваш труд!)
Very very nice
Ed If you could please do a tutorial on how to make tones velocity sensitive like how on the system 8 you can make the pluck just a small tone and then as you press harder the sound transforms into another sound. That would be absolutely amazing and help out so much with a lot of sounds me and a lot of my friends have been trying to create on our FA's
Thank you :D
Powerful
These are pretty good if you're working with just FA internal sounds. However, when it comes to combining FA sounds + external audio (guitars, vocals, synths, etc) I find it's much easier to use a DAW or export individual tracks. I also sometimes use my FA with MPC Live 2 for better sound & sample editing & easier sequencing.
It could be worse, you could be stuck with that abomination on the Fantom =P
@@ErraticFaith The new Fantom 0s aren't that bad. I'd go for the flagship Fantom though instead of the 0 series. What are the main pieces of gear in your music setup?
Live player primarily. So I rotate my digital Pianos (Yamaha) along side Modx, Juno, Sk1. Depending on the need.
I use FA as a travel board. So it helps to have the workstation elements. I’m also pretty addicted to dbeam. I don’t ‘personally’ like VP and the heavy actions are a bit much for me. I prefer my lighter stage keyboard Yamaha as it’s less jarring moving back and forth.
I like editing the SN on FA which Fantom doesn’t allow with its porting. And the SD card is really efficient since I occasionally run several FAs in a rig. I also quite like Ivory G over pha4 and 50. Although the former isn’t too bad.
I do like Zen on my home gear (JPX) but I think it’s tragically lifeless on Fantom-O with that polyphony wall vs it’s reduced features.
@@ErraticFaith Nice! Do you have an Instagram or social media page?
I did do up until a few years ago when the Pandemic began. I started working for Roland ironically enough considering this video and with the increase in people using socials because of the lockdowns it just became too stressful if I am honest.
I have a new found appreciation for product specialists thats for sure. A lot of them have to ignore facebook and so on because you end up with no end to it all.
How about you? Tempted by any new toys?
Wow this is cool.. I have this keyboard and had no idea it can do things like step sequencing… does anyone know if this is a better keyboard for songwriting and arrangement than the Fantom? I’m trying to use more hardware based sequencers…
Great video.. im very happy for my FA.
However, i never understood why step sequencing?...probably only me.
Hey Ed, I was wondering if it’s possible to load Latin patterns like songo etc…?
Hey Ed.....I would like to know why when I do a utility Export Stereo Mix(wav.) ....the imported samples on pads that I used in sequence track mix are missing from the exported wav. file...
Bad ass keys
What confused me here - and Ed at one point - is whether 'step back' moves the cursor back to the start of the measure or actually DELETES notes in the process
From what I understand, it goes back a single step AND deletes a note. I think he explains that difference almost at the end of the video. Hope this helps
Can you sequence external gear with this board?
Looks like a pain in the arse having to scroll each time to change the note duration, why not dedicated numeric keys or use the pads to switch between 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 notes?
My play button from STOP PLAY RECORD is blinking. STOP won’t work. Could you please advise!
how do I change the tempo of a song in the sequencer? I mean, another slower tempo, in this case???
Once you do step sequencer how do you erase what you did once you come out of it
Q? what is the maximum size of SD card it will read, thankyou I read the manual but it does not say....
Can you change the beat measure of time signatured? I want to record in 6/8 for example.. who can help me?
Is there a way to just simply copy and paste a 4 measure sequence instead of manually programming it? Like say it's a standard 4/4 and I want that drum sequence to play for 32 measures

Love this keyboard but I have a problem. I'll record the background music then play the lead live and the lead goes slightly out of tune after a couple of measures. Does anybody else have this problem? It is actually a major problem especially playing live.
sir studio set tone change tone to cut tone
This is just as frustrating as the G series...
You guys really should have taken the X series and kept the operating system and the functionality the way it was... I have an X7 and a G7.. and I always use my X7 to actually get work done.. The G7 is prettier, but the functionality sucks.
Do you have any updates For the G series to make it function like the X series?
Why never we see how make a complete song with the sequencer for example a simple blues !?
Not very intuitive is it? Remember to press two buttons to do something
This looks great on youtube and than you go to your local shop and say “wtf”?
Built quality and keybed is on the kids play-board level.
Whoever is making decisions at Roland, needs to think again.
Targeting droolers and advertising “pro stuff”.
I’m sure even this guy presenting it doesn’t really enjoy playing it.
Roland is a joke comparing to competition. Fa? Ea7? Bk? All plastic toys
