He goes too fast. PnoStrEpVox set was too fast. I tried to follow but all I get is vox even when it’s disengaged

Can you save a studio set as a tone in order to add to it to another studio set part? That way when you are in part mode if you hit "5" it could be a layer, but if you hit "1" it can be a single tone?

Good Morning Mr Diaz: I use the studio sets for live work, and very useful they are too, in my band Spiral Planet. I believe there are some dirty videos of us playing somewhere on UA-cam. I didn't make them, so I'm not sure if they went up or not. Any road, what I would like to know if it is possible to create more than one SEPARATE layers within the SAME studio set. For example, I would like, in an ideal world, to chain channels 1 & 2 together, and then 3 & 4 to create the two separate layers within the same song. Trust me, if it were possible to do this, you would be responsible for transforming music history. Thank you in advance. x
Me too.. I tried doing the same thing, but it only seems to work if I have it attached to my sequencer.. using two different channels for example 1 for the FA and the second on a MIDi input from the sequence but couldn't get it to sound directly from a controller to the FA. Even with two separate channels. Basically trying to use the FA for all the sounds but using a controller to trigger the second set..

Can you create a "Studio Set" in which each track is assigned to a given midi channel from your DAW, so that each track plays a different sound from your keyboard when used in Daw control mode?
where can we hear your Music Ed? you got a great touch on workstations period... I am learning about the FA06 as now they are quite inexpensive these days on eBay.... you sold it to me, but I fear I am too dum to even make a beat...
Hello Ed. I have a FA-08 and I would like to use an external midi keyboard to play tones from the Studio Set (for example, configuring the piano to be played by the full keyboard of the FA-08 and a lead synth by the external midi keyboard). I didn' find in the configuration of the studio set a way to address the midi channel for the external midi keyboard and a way to configurate the tone to be played only by the external device. Please check if can you help me.

why on the roland axial sight the integra 7 sounds are missing to load in the roland fa 08 on a sound card, I dont mean the expansion boards they still work
Hi Ed I did the piano ep str fox part. Didn’t work. When I press pads 1 to 4 all I get is str and vox, no matter what combo of pads I press
At last a comment about this! You can see that this is an issue in the video itself where in 4:40 Ed is saying he wants to disable the “voice” and all you can hear is - voice! You cannot layer using the pads unless you are currently standing on the tone you want to layer upon in the main screen - how is if solved??
Great Video's Ed! It really confirms my research and shows me that this keyboard is a beast. Especially with the integra intergration. It's very underrated but perfectly on pair with Roland and their brand having cutting edge products.
There’s a mistake at around 4:38 - you cannot seem to “unchoose” the tone that is shown on the main screen, using the pads. So when Ed is trying to cancel the “Angel Voice” tone, and keeps playing like everything is ok - it actually doesn’t work! Anyone knows how to solve this?

1. Can we switch betwen sounds without cutting of sound that we use in that moment?
2. Can we create a layerd sound with 3-4 instruments, and add that to our studio set and be trigerd with number 1 on pad for example?

Hi Ed, iit’s possible to suggest for next update system 2.02?...the selection of studio set, by the numeric buttons under the display?like for the tones, using shift for example, this for very fast studioset changes on stage on live set, we know it’s possible through the numeric pad, but ehen we use pad for sampling, to dedicate the numeric buttons to the sound selection it could be easier. THks anyway for yr support

Hi Ed. I have a question about Studio Sets.
I have a band with repertoire of about 80 songs.
Every gig we play, we perform about 30 of them so I have to change the order on the list.
For each song we play I have made a specific Studio Set with different layers, tones, and splits points.
That’s what I do to change the order. I select the studio set I don’t need and I copy it into an empty space. Now that that studio set has been duplicated I can overwrite its original position with the new studio set for the new set list.
As you can imagine when you have to change the set list for a 2 hours show it takes quite a lot of time to do it.
Is there a quicker way ? For example connecting the keyboard to a computer and use an editor or something similar?

Hello Ed, is there no way to export samples as a stereo mix along with the sequencer? Only the sequencer seems to get exported and not the sample recorded in the sequencer.

Hi! I have a problem with the sampling pads. I have few 3 sec samples I'm playing through the FA-06 sampling pads but I I can't keep pressing the pad for that long and I can't be constantly pressing the hold button. Is there a way to make the FA play the whole sample with just a simple 1 touch triggering?
Do any of you guys have recommendations on a good amp to use for splitting a keyboard for bass on one end and other instruments on the other?

When I'm using Favorites (specifically the SHIFT+FAVORITE view) the tones seem to take on the effects settings of the currently selected Studio Set.
Sometimes I don't want that as it results in extra reverb etc. Is there a way around that? I just want the tones to sound the same as they do in 'Single' mode when I'm using Favorites (the same way the Fantom-X Favorites operated). Not sure if I'm using the correct terminology so I hope that makes sense. Not sure if I’m missing something about the way the FA works?
How much memory space is in the studio set user?
Hi Ed. Is it not possible to avoid the expression value to be reset when changin the layers when shifting via the pads in the studio set. Alot of people are complaining this in different facebook groups.

MsArzoo1 hi, you can use a studio set with your selected sounds and then use the sampler buttons to select the next sound you want to play. It won't play until you release the current sound.

Never mind, found your tut on that. So I take it there isn't any way to export an SMF that already contains the Studio Set used to create it? Have to share SMF, then share the appropriate Studio set?

I bought my roland fa08 for about a year now but I find a small problem with me layering sounds, I found out that when I layer about 3-4 sounds ( piano, strings, pad & a synth) if I am playing thiese sound for a while its start to go fussy or distorted and I have stop playing and start again before it can start working again but if I play for about that same time agian it goes back to the same issue.
If I use only one sound or two sounds (piano string) its ok
Why am I having this problem?
The polyphony is limited and you have to configure the voice reserve for each track or part and distribute it according to your liking. Hope that helps.
epickeys does all this model come with that problem ? how do i change it, can you do a video on how to change this, or can I speak to you directly?
I am facing the same problem...losing notes when playing in layers. I guess the polyphony can't keep up with it.
Davian Berry You have to check on Studio Set where you can change the parameters for the Voice Reserve. You can adjust it from there but I think you had not mapped your patches properly as you might have used the full range of the keyboard for all the patches. You can minimize sound drop outs by limiting the range of the patches. For example, the piano sound can be used for the full range but the pads & strings must be clipped on both on the low & high range of the keyboard. By doing this, you will also avoid the annoying high-pitched sound of the strings/pad and the muddy sound on the low-end. I hope this will solve your problem.

Only the amount of keys. 61 note is Synth action and 88 note is a weighted action.

Finally!!! It mat have been 7 years since you wrote this comment, and I’m surprised to see no one responded - I just got a second hand FA08, and I don’t know how to solve this issue… I can’t layer sounds using the pad KBD SW, without playing the tone I am currently standing on in the main screen
Hi Ed, I am trying to make MainStage work with my FA 08 after watching the tutorial you published ua-cam.com/video/cLeX-064ZBA/v-deo.html. The thing is... I think I am doing something wrong. In the section Master Kbd (1/2) I put MSB and LSB at 0 but when I change the value on PC the sound doesn't change on MainStage. Even putting different numbers on different studio sets the sound on MainStage stays on the last one I've manually selected using the Mac.
The FA is the easiest workstation to use.
