• Soft Cell & Jim Foetus...
Use of headphones highly recommended.
Brilliant live cover of Suicide's "Ghost Rider" recorded in 1983 for the BBC.
I have enhanced the sound and converted it to stereo with audio procesing software, now it sounds much better than the poor original!
Marc Almond and Dave Ball were clearly influenced by Suicide, the cover of this mythic track from 1977 was their personal tribute to the NY duo. Guest vocals here by Jim Thirwell (aka Clint Ruin, Jim Foetus, etc). Gary Barnacle on sax.
Soft Cell and Foetus covering Suicide. Can’t go wrong.
Oh boy oh boy...what a gem...got a ticket today to see jg thirlwell perform silver mantis in September [ only 150 tickets available as it's a small venue]. Saw soft cell reunion back in early 2000s...Mark was upset that people were smoking although he had put no smoking signs up
Best Suicide cover ever. Period.
Only Suicide cover?!
Henry Rollins' cover is also very good, I couldn't choose!

@@blacksun26 yep. Saw Lydia and Marc Hurtado doing Suicide covers in Berlin. Very good.
Feotus and Marc Almond equal geniuses!! Wow!
Goddamn! I flipped out the first time I saw this, still can't believe this happened.
Now that's what I call Rock'n'Roll! Awsome!
Wild as hell
YES YES YES YES
Fucking insane version 🤘
Yes. YES YES YES.
I've heard many versions of Ghostrider (including the original) and this one is my favorite. Too bad I forgot about it when I met JG Thirlwell not too long ago, otherwise I would've said, "hey, that version of Ghostrider you did with Soft Cell was awesome."
Now Ana Curra recorded one and It,s Wells too. Ana what?. Ana Curra, a fantastic spanish musician. Try to hear her.
It's really fuckin' good innit?!
Agreed. I almost puked when I heard B. Springsteen covers Suicide. Even Pixies could not do it. There is something in Suicide and The Fall that is just theirs. Hard to cover.
This show was on Channel Four not the BBC
Marc is so cute and funny when he is lying on the floor and screaming into the microphone. The other dude is cool and great version of a Suicide song!!
They brought some real anarchy to the performance.
gorgeous
that coke they're on is so good I can even feel it!
I like this I remember this when I was very young
Brutalisima 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you Marc !!!
I really love this. Damn
Oh Marc u little flirt ;)

Do you think they ever explored each others bodies
THANK OUY!
i just love the monotony (hypnotic)of the beat if ya like this you will love motorslug by jim thirlwell (wiseblood)
my music
Holy shit this is good!
Quite a few people have covered Suicide material. Bruce Springsteen did Dream Baby Dream. Peaches did Johnny. Primal Scream and Conrad Standish did Daimonds, furcoat, champagne. Just to name a few.
Back in the there was so much competition to be the baddest indie star. I remember it so well. The Aussies were here in force - Jim, Nick, the boys from The Triffids and the Go-Betweens. Who could take the most drugs, who could ask for the biggest riders and they all wanted to play with Marc. Bless them all and it's so sad about the ones that are not here anymore.
The Immaculate Consumptive gigs in New York would have been great. Lydia Lunch, Nick Cave, Marc Almond and Foetus!! WOW!
@@dougiegooner That should had been dubbed " The Brown tour " .
Porra! Não existe mais música interessante pra compartilhar. A última década que valheu a pena foram os 80. Ingleses nunca entenderão.
A 'GHOST RIDA MOTORCYCO HEROOOOOOOOOOOu
FGF. FECKIN GOOD FOOTAGE
fucking MARVELLOUS!!! thanks!
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Even Dave ball came out of his shell
L E G E N D S !
Fucking perfect.of course.
Marc!
The Immaculate Consumptive ?
Almost needs Lydia lunch
You ain't knowing..😮😂😂🎉
RARE: greats on greats
I agree to cover suicide is kinda tabu. They did do it fairly early though, 83? Suicides legends only grown an grown since then, more people listening now then ever I imagine... Anyway. I think they did a good job, throwing in "Johnny Johnny Johnny" making it a bit of a medley. Got to give soft cell a lil more respect I suppose. Or not... who cares :-)
In some way, Clint looks like Sparky (Demented Are Go) but with a sharp voice...
hawt.
awkward or awesome, not sure which one or both
The contradictory nature of the 80's
I always feel that about Marc Almond - not necessarily a bad thing
On guest vocaals...
When Paste was Paste and Brown was Brown .
It Reminds Sigue Sigue Sputnik in some way.
It's the hair.

This is the shit!
I'm a fan of both, however - about 1350 Likes is a cultural deficit!
j'aime bien le son
les gestuelles sont assez ridicules
hm better than sisters of mercy's version
@taylorhip if it wasn't for bands like these reminding people of 'suicide' they would have fallen into obscruity
Great music and footage, but how odd to see these two together! Marc one of the kindest and fan friendly people I've had the privilege of meeting and Jim - a very very rude musician. Actually quite horrid.
Jim isn't rude. Why would you say that?!
@@deviouselectricity I'm guessing he means his use of the n word, his misogynistic lyrics (a woman's place is on my face), his use of lewd imagery, etc. Don't get me wrong - I love it. It's completely messed up stuff. I still love it though. It's kinda like how if you have to explain a joke to someone, they probably just aren't the type to get the joke. If you have to explain JG Thirlwell's music to someone, they probably aren't the type of person that gets it, and never will.
He definitely isn't a rude person. At least he isn't rude in any interviews I've seen him in. He seems really pleasant.
They did a shit load of work together. He did a very brief stint with Marc Almond, Nick Cave, and Lydia Lunch called The Immaculate Consumptive. He was also in a side project band called Flesh Volcano.
Well, he did say "a woman's place is on my face" to Muriel Gray on live TV.
I think in interviews in the '80s he made a lot of dry shock-jokes, and (tried to) put on a menacing persona, kinda like Lydia Lunch did as well. Maybe he just didn't like interviewers like Nick Cave didn't.
Meh, even Foetus can't save this. I'll stick with the original thanks.
