This is a fantastic demo! I have the Tele version in the bridge and I love it. I love the high gain split coil riffage you did, very John Browne-esque!!
Thanks! That part was definitely inspired by John haha
wow best video of these pickups I've heard!!
thanks!
Love the Brute Force set. Probably the best VFM ceramic, passive set around. The Nazgul and Sentient by SD is also very good - but BKP takes it on clarity.
I've used these in Drop C, B and A# and they always do well - especially in heavier bodied guitars.
Great Review 👍🏻
Definitely considering this and the Duncan Distortion SH-6 for a Gibson Les Paul.
These remind me a lot of the SD nazgul/sentient set on the cleans. No true clean tone, especially out of the bridge. These have a better mid range though. Super hot, but man it helps give you that extra bite on the high gain.
I have the same the same exact guitar and also installed my 1st set of Bareknuckles in this guitar. I definitely considered the Bruteforce but went with the Warpig set.
That’s what I want, the war pigs. You’ll love em. Those things sound fkn deadly. So sick. I’m prob gonna go with these tho, just bc they’re cheaper & seem to sound great.
@@rferguson3 I'm thinking of getting the latest Jackson 7 string that comes with the Brute Force pickups. It's called Jackson Pro Plus Series DK Modern MDK7 HT - Black
@@UncleYoshi Right on. Sounds like a badass guitar.
thank much very much for your review on this pickups. This a kind of specific question, i got a shecter hellraiser c1 with emg 81s. (mainly play metalcore, sometimes hardrock, metal, etc) Im looking to try some passive pickups for a more versatile sound. Brute force will do the job? Also, i have an eye on the SD blackwinter set.
You're welcome! For metal these are right at home, I've since swapped these out for the BareKnuckle True Grit set which are more dynamic with still enough output
Hi Jordan, great demo! I am looking for a set for my PRS clone, it is a nicely sonorous guitar and a bit dark. Need something for a modern metal project (I want to get the sound close to, say, Bring Me the Horizon current records). I mostly care for the bridge pickup. Would you recommend the BF?
Hi! It's a monstrous pickup with tonnes of output and still retains the dynamic response of your playing, it's a solid choice!
I have True Grits in a Les Paul and love them. I can get that Alice in Chains Dirt distortion so easy. I find they are really good and are super touch responsive. I want to install another set of humbuckers and wonder if I should go Brute Force, Nailbombs, or something else?
For me, in the pickup world, if I find something I like I stick with it! I changed these out for the true grit set and I've got a review for them on my channel, they were much more versatile for me
I also felt the neck pickup was way too much. I got the cold sweat neck to pair with the bridge in my EC-1000, and the neck is awesome, but do you feel like the bridge has too much bass? Idk about that charvel but in my Mahogany lp style theyre way too bassy imo, have you experienced this?
In my setup the bridge didn't have that much bass but it is a bright guitar. I now have the true grit set installed which are better suited to my needs
@@jbrewermusic nice I have been eyeing them up as replacements as well, what's your opinion on them?
@@Shawkdawg I really like them, I'll being doing a video on them soon!
Hi Jordan, I must admit you put out two great demo videos for BK True grit and brute forces. I`ve watched both of them countless times.
I`ve recently bought an Ibanez RGR652AHBF prestige series guitar which comes with "Dimarzio fusion edge" set of pickups. These pickups are the weakest point of these guitars, according to many owners, plus me :) They`re relatively good at high gain tones but their low end response and muddiness are something to escape. I want more articulate, defined, strong mid ranged high-medium output pickups to replace them. I mainly play high-mid gain tunes like Opeth, Death, Slayer, Iced Earth, Iron Maiden kind of old mainstream bands. I used to have Jackson DK2 with SD SH4 in the bridge, which I adored it`s versatility. Due to Ibanez RGR652AHBF`s triangle shaped pickup cavities, I`m limited to 2 brands only(dimarzio and bare knuckle). Because SDs and others don`t fit without cutting, filing the square shaped baseplates.
I`m in a position where I evaluate and watch all videos about Dimarzio d activator set, brute force, true grits. As I didn`t like the current dimarzio way of distortion characteristics, I`m highly interested in both true grit and brute force. Additionally, there`s another rg prestige series(RGR5221) which comes with brute forces as standard from the factory, encourages me.
Basically, I`m looking for that SD SH4 kind of versatility + sweet fullness in my drive tones. I`m not sure if you`re experienced with all SD, Dimarzio series but I require your opinion on which one I should choose.
I`m more inclined on to true grit set now, after your demo videos but your opinion really matters, as you`re more or less after a similar kind of sound.
I mainly play at home through my DSL1 head + blackstar 10" cabinet, in low to modarate volume levels. Since DSL high gain is not very sharp and I prefer not to use an OD boost pedal, I`m also curious if brute force would be my pickup due to it`s relatively higher output. Thanks for reading all of these, Regards
Burak
Thanks! I agree i've had an ibanez with those pickups and I really did not like them. My advice is go with the True Grit pickups, they're more balanced and are still plenty hot for metal
Besides, true grit set is the only available ones in my location at the moment. They`re being sold for 250 euros per set, which is reasonable for a BK I guess. Thanks for your prompt response, cheers!@@jbrewermusic
@@purulence666 let me know how you get on!
Hi again,@@jbrewermusic
Things were changed a lot on my side, so I`d like to give a brief update.
As I was not so happy with my Ibanez RGR652AHBF, I`ve returned it.
Instead, I bought the same exact guitar you use here, Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HH HT E.
I`m very familiar with this neck and body type since as I was using Jackson DK2 HSS Japan for 10 years and sold it. I was so in love with the shape of this neck and radius so I`ve found myself buying this Charvel copy, as it seemed very tempting with all specs and price advantage :) You were also an another strong drive for me to get it, along with the alder body, SD pickups, relatively light body comparing to RG, neck and etc..
Since it`s a Mexico made, there`re certainly quality issues comparing to Japan made guitars. Which I can say, not perfect finish on the body, gap between the nut and fingerboard, not evenly installed pickups, cheap electronics and hardware (pots, switch, bridge itself). But overall it`s what was expected so no big surprise. My biggest disappointments with this guitar is,
I can`t raise the pickups enough to get them closer to strings. The maximum I could raise them, is around 2,5mm at bass side, 2mm at treble side for bridge pickup(when pressed on 24th fret). After some point, the raising screw starts to turn futile and it goes out. I`m wondering if something wrong with my copy or it`s standard situation in all Charvel DK24 series. How`s your situation in both stock SD set and BKP set?
Additionally, I noticed that the guitar has trembucker(f-spaced) in the bridge position and normal humbucker in neck. So, if I may ask,
Which BKP set is suitable for it? 53mm or 50mm? Or, do I need to buy individual pickups for neck and bridge positions?
As a Seymour Duncan JB fan, I`m so far satisfied with the characteristics of the SD Fullshred, except it`s toooo bright EQ. Especially after Dimarzio Fusion Edge, it feels like I`m home again. But I may consider for more balanced pickup in the bridge, like JB, SH6, True Grit.
Thanks for your inspiration and your answer in advance!

Did you wire the pickups to the guitar yourself?
would be nice if you had the wiring diagram for this....
How did you wire that to get hum, split, hum? That's basically the dream config!
Hi Scott, I'm going to make a video soon about how to wire this up
@@jbrewermusic consider me subscribed
@Jordan Brewer, subscribed. Hope to see a video about how to wire this up 😁.
just sounds like a helix.
Billy corgan?
Sounds like a solid state amp modeler that has nothing to do with a real tube amp.
Could you please elaborate?
