Here is a bridge pickup comparison that we put together in the most controlled, scientific way possible. We are using 4 different PRS SE Mark Holcomb signature guitars to keep the guitar specs consistent throughout the recordings.
All recordings, both left and right channels, were recorded with the exact same Line 6 Helix patch, with no post processing.
Full Mix:
0:08 - Bare Knuckle Brute Force
0:46 - Seymour Duncan Nazgul
1:24 - Seymour Duncan Omega
2:01 - Bare Knuckle Juggernaut
2:39 - Seymour Duncan Jupiter Rail
Short Turnaround:
3:21 - Bare Knuckle Brute Force
3:35 - Seymour Duncan Nazgul
3:49 - Seymour Duncan Omega
4:04 - Bare Knuckle Juggernaut
4:18 - Seymour Duncan Jupiter Rail
4:36 - Guitars Only

Omega is so characteristic. I was listening with eyes closed and one loop was clearly more Mark's sounding :) Brute force very musical.
0:09 BKP Brute Force
0:47 SD Nazgul
1:24 SD Omega
2:02 BKP Juggernaut
2:40 SD Jupiter
Fantastic video.
fantastic review, btw!
Thanks!
Brute Force & Nazgul for me if I were to go on this sample alone. Nice tunes, great playing!
Brute force for me :)
What a great comparison, thank you!
I see that all this pickups are great it's Just a matter of making the right guitar match.
Particularly in your case the juggernaut sounded the nicest to me because all the other pups have been too bass heavy to my liking.
I'm leaning towards Jupiter, but they're all pretty sick
All sound good
IMHO I thought the Jupiter rail chugged the coolest, but the BKP Juggernaut def sounded the best when single notes and runs were added into the playing...
They are all terrific, but the Nazgul takes the cake. I own one and it just blazes.
Sick riffage, Crusty Rimmons
I surprisingly like the Jupiter Rails. Definitely a higher output sound to me than the rest of them. Too many of the 'modern metal' pickups are really geared towards a medium output with a higher focus in the mids... not a bad thing. I have many different pickups that are just that. And every single one of them are great pickups for almost every application. It's just refreshing to hear something slightly different.
I immediately fell in love with the Jupiters the first time I played them. They just have a certain snarl in the mids that I love
@@dustysimmonsmusic It's in large part down to the rail design. Have you tried the Bare Knuckle Black Hawk or the Bill and Becky Lawrence Wilde L500XL?
@@SkeledroMan never have played either, but have always been intrigued
The voicings are so similar. It's more about the feel I think. If a pickup doesn't react to my input the way I want I don't want it no matter how it sounds lol
Very much agree! The Jupiter takes the cake for me in that respect
Chris King nailed it, I had the Naz Sent combo and regardless of the demos and rave, it sounded loud but lifeless in the guitar it was in. Raising/lowering, pole adjustments, I just did not ever pick up that guitar because it was boring to play. I put a set of Juggs in and changed everything, dynamics, separation and phrasing notes just sing. I think they are all great pickups but there is no one pickup to rule them all.
You’re absolutely correct, all about personal feel and preference!
Nice 🤘which there was some Dimarzio love though
These were the ones that we had available in the same guitars at the time, would love to expand upon it in the future though!
to me, brute force and juggernaut, thanks for the video
That is how you do a demo 🙌 I prefer the liveliness of the Juggernaut
Thank you! Juggernaut is one of my personal favorites as well.
Thanks for putting in a ton of work to compare these pickups. I'm actually looking for pickups for Djent metal music. These pickups u tested all fit the bill. The BKP Brute Force & Juggernaut sound a bit more articulate than the SDs... but the SD Jupiter Rail definitely matched up to both BKPs. Did you sense or feel the difference b/w the BKPs and SDs?
Glad you enjoyed it! BKP’s are all known for their clarity no matter which model you go with, the Brute Force reminds me of a higher output SD but with better clarity. The Jupiter is an outstanding pickup as well, extreme note clarity and a wonderful mid range boost. As far as feel goes, the Juggernaut was probably the most “sterile” of this group. It sounds great in a mix, but just feels a little less dynamic to play heavy rhythm. Hopefully this helps
@@dustysimmonsmusic Hi Dusty, thanks for your input, it definitely helps. I checked out your channel to find out I am already a Subscriber 👍 I am researching various BKPs.. but did not come across Jupiter so I will check those out on UA-cam (Note clarity/note separation is definitely a plus).. I do hear the sterilness of the Juggernaut - like tinny sounding. There's also Silo and the new PolyMath which are alnico magnets with slightly less output. Adam Nolly did a fantastic demo of the PolyMath which sounds really good. And the Ragnarok which is super hot, watched some of Rabea's videos for those BKPs.
@@MrVegiita I’ve heard great things about the Polymath but haven’t gotten to play on one yet, and actually have a Silo bridge on order right now! I have a Silo neck in one of my other guitars and love it, especially for split coil tones. My personal favorite BKP is the Aftermath, it has a particular mid range bite that I love for metal rhythm playing. Every BKP bridge pickup I have ever played has always had great clarity in notes, so you really can’t go wrong. Also thanks for subscribing!
I love your riffs bro! what song is it? is it your own? what are your influences?
Thank you! This is just a random idea, but may eventually work it’s way into a song! Check out my band Lionsnake for similar stuff! Influences are all over the board, from Metallica to Led Zeppelin to Monuments
Hi! Im about to change the bridge pickup on my jackson js 22 7.I bought it with the intention to make it better(bit of a project and an adventure to be honest). I would like to hear your opinion on the nazgul and omega and which one do you prefer. Heard great things about the nazgul but people say it tends to be muddy and lifeless. From the dcr charts, i think it would have more bite then the omega, but still unsure about clarity and pick attack response
Hi Sergej! To be honest, both are great bridge pickups. Personally I prefer the nazgul, and only because it has a certain midrange bite to it, where as the omega has more high end fizz. Hopefully this helps!
Thanks for replying and it was exactly what i wanted to know! This comparison was really helpful and keep uo the good work :)
Love the riffage. Is there a full song of this? Tried looking at Lionsnake songs but couldn't find it.
Thanks so much! This one hasn’t become a Lionsnake song, yet 😉 possibly in the near future though!
@@dustysimmonsmusic will definitely look out for this.
hi there! what are your opinions of BKP brute force? i got and omega but didnt so much. Too treblely to my taste. Is brute force similar/differente? thank you
Omega has a better clarity but at the same time more of an upper-end hiss. Also, the omega was more defined in the low end, between the 100 to 200 Hz (palm mutes). The brute force was 'rounder' in tone but lacked the individual clarity of notes in a chord. Both are great pickups, just comes down to personal preference!
Nice tone. Where can I get the helix patch?

Why does each clip start with a sub bass explosion?
Bass drops make everything better, right? 😅
How does the MH Sig fair in comparison to your other PRS'S
All of the guitars in this vid were all MH signatures, only variations being the veneer tops and neck finish. All are excellent guitars for the price point
@@dustysimmonsmusic but playability wise do you prefer these over a standard custom 24 or ce24 for example?
@@deadspeak1126 absolutely I prefer the MH. The flatter radius is much more preferable for me, and I like the control layout. Also the matte finish neck is the best 👌
我把Ibanez上的 BKP Brute Force换成了 BKP Juggernaut 。感觉声音变得好扁有种压缩感,说不上是变好了。
I like the Brute Force here.

I was listening to this comparison with my semi pro headphones deliberately and didn't hear any significant difference))))
WTF, where is difference? This are very individual pickups
There are very subtle differences between each pickup, a lot of that being in the actual feel when playing them. The differences are easier heard in the isolated guitars starting at 4:36
