  • Bare Knuckle Pickups Comparison: BKP Polymath, Silo, Juggernaut, and Aftermath. High Output Bridge Pickups Shootout!
    Check out my video where I compare four high output bridge pickups:
    ➡ Bare Knuckle Polymath (Alnico V)
    ➡ Bare Knuckle Juggernaut (Alnico & Ceramic)
    ➡ Bare Knuckle Aftermath (Ceramic)
    ➡ Bare Knuckle Silo (Alnico V)
    For this bridge pickup demo I used my Solar Guitars S1.6PB with an Evertune bridge.
    All 4 pickups from the Bare Knuckle Pickups Contemporary Range boast high output humbucking power, demonstrating exceptional versatility across various genres. Their impressive split coil sounds and clean performance, even on the edge of breakup, make them stand out.
    Whether you're in pursuit of a Metal Bridge Humbucker or seeking tones reminiscent of more traditional pickups, these 4 options excel. Beyond Metal, I explored their capabilities in Rock, hard rock, clean tones, and Solo/Lead playing.
    Producing this video has fueled my curiosity to delve into other Bare Knuckle pickups. With a current fondness for the Bare Knuckle Juggernaut, Polymath and Holydiver. I'm contemplating trying out the Bare Knuckle Unity, Bare Knuckle Peacemaker, or Bare Knuckle Triptych Rabea Massaad in the future.
    These tracks were pre-recorded and on the video you see the BKP Silo with chrome cover.

    Hi Gabriel! Quick question - I'm looking for a pickup to play Mastodon-style music (complex riffage, with some mustard on them, not super modern yet still with great string separation). My guitar is mahogany/maple bolt-on, short scale.
    So far I'm considering Nailbomb or Holy Diver, maybe Warpiggo Alnico. Which one would you pick for Mastodon?

    I appreciate these videos so much. So well made and helpful. I was surprised that I really liked the Polymath’s clarity and aggressive mids. Then I would say the Silos which I’ve loved since they came out.

    I'm a little surprised, I bought Silos after listening to a lot of demos for all of these pickups as well as the Warpigs and Holy Divers, but in this video the Silo was maybe my least favorite. Juggernaut took the crown in my opinion. It has a real punchiness and clarity to it. The Polymath is unique and has more mids but still sounds more "polite", as Tim from BKP described them. I'd have to go back and listen to Aftermath again, though I feel like it was the least distinct. Anyway, great job demo'ing them!

      Hi mate, this particular Solar model has a 5 way switch and it gives the split coil tones on positions 2 and 4. I have another solar that came stock with a 3 way blade switch and push pull in the tone knob for the split coil tones.

    Im' trying to decide between Aftermath or Polymath in an alder bolt on guitar with maple neck. Was drawn to the polymaths but in a lot of videos I like the aftermaths. They seem to be quite similar but the aftermaths appear to be a bit fuller with more balls which I like. How did you feel with the polymaths and aftermaths? Did you like one more?

    • @gabriel_guitar
      @gabriel_guitar  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi mate, the aftermaths are a great all rounder pickup, I really like the polymaths too but it's a lot more focused in the mids, the aftermaths are broader sounding and have higher output.

      Hi mate, thank you, really appreciate it. For the clean tones I'm using the Neural dsp Soldano plugin, for the rock/hard rock riffage I'm using a Friedman IR-X, for the metal stuff I'm using an EVH 5150 III 50W (Ivory version), and for the solo I'm using a capture on ToneX.

    The Juggs are def my favorite! A little bummed with how the Polymath sounded. I’m sure each one sounds great dialed in on its own, but these settings the Juggs really shined!

      Same here mate, for some reason the Juggs really stand out on this one. The Polymath would have sounded much better with different settings no doubt, I still love them though, but yeah... could have been better, it has a very different voicing from the other pups on here. Cheers for checking the video out 🍻

      Hi mate, nice one! Yeah, they all feel quite a bit different to play, with the amp settings, IRs etc. used in this demo, I'd say my fav was the Juggernaut, I was a fan before, but after doing this shootout I like it even more, it was the most "stringy" sounding to me (if that makes any sense). My least fav in this particular comparison was the Silo, it's really well balanced, but how I had things dialled in it didn't grab me as much. Hope that helps. 🍻

    • @Nicholas-sg7qk
      @Nicholas-sg7qk 2 місяці тому

      @@gabriel_guitar Nice! The Juggernaut is the only one I've recently owned, and it was indeed "stringy", although it was also in a "stringy" guitar, so it just became too much. Was there anything about the feel of the Aftermath that stood out to you? That's the one I'm honing in on.

    • @gabriel_guitar
      @gabriel_guitar  2 місяці тому +1

      @@Nicholas-sg7qk yeah mate, the aftermath is a great all-rounder, it doesn't have too much of anything and probably the one that is compatible with the most type of guitars. I love it, in particular for solos, the mids just sing.
