I was thinking of getting the SM58 and doing the DIY proyect to make it look like the SM7B, but I'm not sure what to do now. It does look like the fifine K688 sounds even better than the SM7B although it's probably cause you didn't use a cloudlifter...I'm torn here. I currently have a zoom ssh-6 but want to get rid of the background noise.
A cloudlifter doesn’t make the SM7B sound better, just FYI. It only adds gain, not color

I guess I found it a bit weird how the SM7B compared to the other mics in your test, it sounded way worde to my ears but also different to ohter tests I've seen on the platform. Have you tested the SM58? If so, what do you think about doing the Shure SM58 DIY project?

I need help bad man. I bought the PD400X. I have it in usb mode and trying to monitor the mic with 3.5 jack. Whether i use it or not its delayed. Its not latency free direct and its driving me crazy. I dont know what to do to make the audio playback not delayed.
Try to update mic's firmware with Maono Link software.

All I know is that Shure SM7B sounds to be one of the worst to my ear... like talking into a bucket. Though to be fair, many podcasters use it and I don't hear that same effect.
Out of box, I don’t like the way it sounds at all. Can it be tuned? Sure, but stock? No

Listening on my Pixel 5 phone, and to be honest.. they all sound great. I'm curious about the Fduce brand though. Not bad at all.
I love the FDUCE, but only on XLR. The USB was underwhelming
Gah I hate it when people use the Sm7B that way. That's not only bad for volume (it's way way lower volume) but it's also worse sound too. Try putting the Sm7B horizontally and facing your mouth, not vertically (Joe Rogan doesn't know SM7b style) and have it face you and it'll have far far better sound than with it up like that.
Um. Right. I’m not worried about Joe Rogan. Every microphone I tested will have a better sound if I spoke directly into the capsule, like what you are suggesting.
Every mic on this list had the same orientation also, and IMO still sounded better. Seems I should make a video specifically on this comment.
@@DarkenedCyrus You're missing the point I'm trying to say. Dynamics aren't ideal in that format. I'm a mic reviewer too and have all the mics you're using. You're having the dynamics point up at an angle. But for optimal sound you want it about 2-3 fingers away from your mouth and with the mic pointing at you, ie look at Podcastage and how he reviews dynamics.
@Dracomies but it’s my review of them? I’m glad you are a mic reviewer and have everything I do, but I’m still unsure why you are calling out mic etiquette here.
I’m familiar with Podcastage, but just because he does something one way, doesn’t mean I have to copy it? I appreciate what you are trying to do here, but not sure you are going to get the intended response out of me you are looking for.
My content base is around budget minded options for creators and streamers. A VAST majority of people who use this microphone for content will never use it the correct way or the way it is intended. I also know the correct way, musician of 24 years here…
The point of this video is to offer options for the same type of content. Many of the microphones on this list sounded much better than the SM7B with the same orientation.
All of these sound samples were raw also. The SM7B, when properly tuned, will perform well above the others, but isn’t the best out of box or for the beginning user.
Instead of commenting that I should do my videos like other reviewers, how about you create that content and be the competitor in the space?
Or, I would just watch podcastage.
@@DarkenedCyrus My bad. My apologies man. I didn't know that. I didn't know you were intentionally doing it that way. In that case please disregard my statement. My fault on that. I was looking at it more like, you're putting the mic up and out and then comparing it - but I was thinking the comparison would be better if it was standard SM7B mic technique. But I didn't know you were doing this to emulate the other streamers so to say. So disregard ^_^
Strangely, I think the SM7B sounds the worst. It's all echoey.
