These were the episodes that made me stop liking Carrie, all of the girls would own their mistakes, and Carrie would wallow around and want sympathy, she always expected for people to just forgive her so it could make her feel better just like when she harassed Natasha to have a sit down with her after her affair with Big to ease her conscious. What you said is the truth about her being insecure about Natasha, she was everything Carrie wished she was.
She was jealous of her from the moment she laid eyes on her, her mere existence made her uncomfortable, because she was so desperate when it came to Big. Her showing up to that restaurant will always piss me off.
Her ambushing Natasha at the restaurant always infuriated me, she was basically trying to force Natasha to accept her apology and not because she was sorry 🙄 but just to feel better and Natasha eloquently gathered her. That smug look she had when she thought Natasha was apologizing to her 🤦🏽♀️ she really had no self awareness whatsoever
Big doesn’t care about Carrie, he liked having someone to fawn over him and carry him emotionally while he never carried her. Charlotte was desperate for marriage but she let go of that because she realized true happiness was in front of her and she was being dumb. In other words, development, which Carrie lacks.
I wish women like these would realize that love and respect are what matters when dealing with men. Since he clearly does not love and respect her, Carrie should have respected herself enough to avoid him and cherish her actual boyfriend. Also, I don’t think that Big feels good enough for Natasha, that’s why he wants to leave so bad. He can’t impress her with the bare minimum like he can with Carrie, so he has lost interest. The game’s not fun with Natasha and he doesn’t want to grow up and be mature like his wife is.
Oh absolutely, he clings to Carrie because her standards are extremely low and he had to actually work when it came to Natasha. She was younger than both he and Carrie, but more mature than the both of them.
Carrie reminds me of a pick me girl, so desperate for validation from men, she throws anyone under the bus. Natasha was so poised. I want it from her POV
Carrie and Big will always go down as the most overrated toxic ship in my book. Nothing will ever make me like them. Both of them having conflict together is one thing, but how did the writers manage to make a couple so unlikeable that there is NOTHING to root for 😭? I understand guilty pleasure ships and toxic ships that have been tanked by terrible writing, but the SATC writers were on that 80s crack with this bullshit 😭.
This was such a good breakdown lol. Off topic it’s crazy to think how many people talked crap about SJP’s looks. She’s a very attractive woman! She looks so beautiful in a lot of these scenes.
One of the most interesting analysis I’ve seen about the whole Carrie and Natasha dynamic is the comparison of Natasha and Charlotte having a lot in common too and how you can see the ways in which Carrie envied them both for the kind of women that they are (come from money, have pedigree, etc.), and both fit the mold of Big’s type. Big has also shown the most compassion and respect to Charlotte out of the girls in the group as well.
Wow this is an interesting perspective and it makes sense. Charlotte was also the only one who had empathy for Natasha and told Carrie about herself, while the others made her feel as though what she was doing was okay. She definitely envied Charlotte, Which was evident when she was upset that Charlotte wouldn’t just give her $30,000 and showed her entitlement, simply because she saw her as the wealthy one in the group.
@@iconicallyiconic yup Charlotte is my fav in the group simply for how much she stood on business when it came to boundaries and respect especially for herself - Miranda and Samantha along with Carrie didn’t have them which showed in how they dealt with men and pacified Carrie so much.
I’m so glad you pointed out Charlotte’s number one FLAW. Everyone like to say she was the best out of the four who knew what she wanted and went after it. But her desperateness in season 3 made me cringe. She rushed into a marriage with Trey in like 3 business days and had the nerve to be shocked that the marriage crumbled.
@@gia2332 I often saw the opposite. Besides Carrie’s obvious flaws, I often saw Charlotte being critiqued even harsher because of her romantic notions and leaning more towards “traditional” approaches. She did have her issue of rushing into her marriage with Trey because she thought it was what she was “supposed” to do and want. But she at least developed enough to realize that she doesn’t have to follow every single rule to attain happiness. Carrie nearly got it towards the end but she went backwards due to her urge (and more likely the showrunner’s urge) for an expected HEA. I always imagined the HEA with Carrie figuring out her happiness can come from her work and friends; it doesn’t have to be confined to traditional markers. Her being independent from Big would be the proper end. It certainly shows with Candace Bushnell (the SATC author) not ending up with her Big in the end and she says in several interviews that she wouldn’t have let Carrie have hers either if she had the chance to write it all over again.
Girl yesssss. I’m gonna save this video to watch later tonight - imma need popcorn for this! Also fun fact - I ran into the actor who plays Mr. Big on the subway in NYC back in like 2017 - 2018. Carrie was 🗑 and it was confirmed when she called Natasha an "id iot stick figure" Natasha had her pick-me a ss under pressure. Sleeping with her husband in her home and having the nerve to lollygag in there afterwards like she owns the place, Natasha handled that so much better than I would have because babyyyyyyy... whew
Carrie gives Jlo vibes lmao 😂😂😂 full of themselves, selfish and will do anything just to say they have a man on their arms. They talk down on other women and love to play fake nice. I just know Carrie is her favorite character and I may be the only one, but I didn't like Samantha lol
I think Carrie immediately lied to Aiden about who Big was because deep down inside she knew she would be connecting with him again in some way and she couldn’t have Aiden suspicious. I think sub consciously she knew the affair would happen, or at least hoped it would happen so she immediately threw Aiden off the trail.
