    If your loved one ever goes missing, you must absolutely launch your own investigation. Lamentations will only make you feel miserable and useless. Police do not find missing people which is why the US has 600,000 of them. I help run a local missing persons page and learned as I went. What questions to ask the family, how to hold their hand while at the same time gain valuable information, how to retrace a persons steps and locations. Cell phones have made things much easier than they used to be.
    If they are found, or return, acting disinterested in what happened to them is not only unhelpful, it is cruel. And dangerous. I can't even imagine what that must have looked like. Ask questions, for God's sake. You can do it tactfully. But pretending it didn't happen is the worst thing you can do to a person.
    Hit me up if anyone needs help. That said, I'm diving in! thanks for all your hard work and for sharing this story.

    I know exactly where red bluff is. That part of the country/California is specifically known for its atrocious levels of missing persons cases. I personally know someone that started to live a more “free spirited life” which led to spiraling downward into serious mental health issues induced by drugs and the wrong people. Choosing to be homeless and trusting random individuals with 0 thought out into it. Haven’t heard from her in years and these specific types of stories always terrify me for her because she’s more of a “perfect target” than Colleen was. Haven’t hear or seen her in years and same goes for my other friends who knew her. Really wish she is okay.

    I have watched/ listened to this horrific case before. The beginning of this case had me confused. It sounded familiar but different.
    I did realise that I knew Colleen’s experience when her POV started. Thankyou for a thoughtful presentation of not just Colleen’s experience, but also her family’s.
    The difference for me was the families experience at the beginning. The rest was very similar to the other presentations I have heard of this case. This may link more to my choice to listen to/watch other YT presentations that express a focus on the victim, not the perpetrator.
    Thankyou again for such a personal representation of such a horrific experience from not just Colleen but also her family ❤

    How I’ve not been recommended to this channel until now is beyond me. Subscribed.
    Thanks, Casefile, for bringing these extraordinarily hideous cases to the light. They’re hard to hear but that’s exactly why people need to hear them. And not “gentled up” in delivery. The reason certain words make folk’s skin crawl is because those words are meant to describe horrific acts that SHOULD make one’s skin crawl. Ignorance IS NOT okay in these cases even if it ensures “bliss” for those who cannot handle the truth. My heart goes out to these victims and their families. Only if we arm ourselves with “unsavory” knowledge can we begin to hope to use discernment in dealing with people who seem “off” or possibly dangerous, making note of the person, behavior, and things hinted
    at…spoken…but left mostly unsaid, can we hope to save their intended victims. It’s hard to consider that there are people out there intent on destroying other people but the truth is hard. Nothing good comes easily. How many folks could be saved agony if
    only-for
    instance, “stalking” was considered as the very dangerous crime that it is and that stalking is generally just the beginning for some very depraved individuals out in this world. It’s scary. But knowledge is power. Stay safe, all. 🙏🏼🕊

    The only way to make sure you won't ever be in such horrifying situation is simply to never trust anyone, especially strangers. Certain behaviours can cause certain unpleasant outcomes, and this has nothing to do with blaming the victim, it's just cause and effect. She clearly didn't deserve to be tortured for years by that psychopath, no one does, she just wanted to go to a friend's birthday party, but the way she wanted to get there was risky and reckless. 😢 Once I was offered a ride by a stranger and refused instantly, because of stories like this. I stay away from people I don't know and don't go anywhere with them. I don't care if I am too cautious, these days you need to be to stay alive and well. You might never experience anything bad all your life, but one scary and horrible thing is enough to scarr you for life. And I am being scarred enough by now as it is, by being bullied at school and outside school. People with fragile psyche like me wouldn't take anything worse.

    Please please please..... to all the content creators who release stories that require multiple videos.... will y'all please consider keeping titles the same or using the name as the first words in the title? Numbering episode numbers with a name on thumbnails are good but difficult to read bc they're small. This channel used to add the number as the first part of the title. I appreciate the part 2 of 2 in the description for this particular story. I dont start stories with multiple videos until they've all been posted so I have stopped watching a few channels all together bc they were posting 3-5 part stories but changing the titles completely and not disclosing that the vid they post is only part 1 of more. I like being able to listen to the videos consecutively that are parts of multi-part series

    • @khaightlynn
      @khaightlynn 10 місяців тому +1

      Agreed. I also miss the numbering Casefile used in their titles. It was much easier to find my place, or to skip ones I've already heard when organized by number and/or name. I do appreciate the part 1 of 2 heads up in the title, I also don't like to listen to multi part episodes until all parts have been released, I'm the same way with some TV shows/series. Makes listening/watching better at my own pace

    In almost every case I've listened to of yours, the single thread that ties ALL of them together is the thought that, "If that victim had a handgun and TRAINED with it, this most likely would never happen." Evil exists, you are forewarned. If you watch this channel you already know that. People like this man and woman are REAL, you interact with them on a daily basis. If you have the ability to defend yourself, please, by all means, train and become proficient with a firearm. It may save you, someone you love, or dozens of future victims from something worse than death.
