Dio lost a bit of clarity and range in his 60s, but still had a large range for his age and if anything was still learning to do more with his voice right into his last tour. I agree though, he us great on here.

Geezer Butler's bass lines on Heaven and Hell are so outrageously awesome. Bill Ward is just powerful and Iomi is iconic. Their music jumped to another level with Dio.

That's debatable. Love Ronnie, but this lineup would not exist without Ozzy. It has been said that Dio dominated every band he was a part of, so in this case, Sabbath sounds more like Dio than Sabbath. Great lineup? Yes, the best? A matter of opinion. Either way, rock on!

I first heard Children of the Sea in 1981.The dj played Starrider by Foreigner and blended Children of the Sea into the ending perfectly.Amazingly ,I STILL have the recording I made! One of my favorites!
Dio was great, powerful voice from a little guy, matching the intensity of Tony and Geezer's fierce music, the drummer was filled with power too. Mercury has quite a different voice, more operatic, not comparable. Dio's voice is the just the ultimate voice for metal music.
