.357 sig will never truly die. You will always be able to reload them or get barrels made for conversions. They may wane in popularity, but cartridges never really die.

Size, weight, power and capacity - the Glock 32 is the pound for pound king in the handgun world. I’ve carried it for more than 30 years, both in LE, off duty, and hunting. The .357 Sig is the finest LE handgun cartridge ever made. It has largely been replaced by the 9mm because of its high cost, muzzle blast, and recoil. I am sticking with it regardless.

The 357 Sig is the best and most versatile SD caliber made. There are no compromises with the 357 Sig. Example the small pocket carry G33 when loaded with Underwood ammo is equal in power to the classic 125gr 357 Magnum! That's pretty good performance for a dead caliber. Problem is to many people cling desperately to their old 9mms and .45s that they can't accept these two modern calibers.

Dude no compromises?? The comprise is that the ammo is expensive as hell and not in every gun store like 9mm is. Also it kicks like a mule, the average person won’t shoot it well. Much easier to get follow up shots on target quicker with a 9mm

The expansion cavity is related to energy. Energy of the bullet is what is responsible for the amount of damage. A moving bullet can only transfer two things into the target, energy and momentum. Energy is responsible for the damage, momentum is the "knockdown" power" , force basically. Bigger heavier bullets like the 45 acp even with its lower energy transfers momentum better than 9 mm , 40 sw, and 357 sig. Hence why 45 acp is always touted as having more knockdown power, but it has poor penetration because of its low energy.

The conversion barrels are exactly the same for a 23 and a 32. Hell, you can pick up a 30 buck barrel in either, as well as in 9mm. They are all interchangeably identical.
I use the 9mm for practice and swap between the others based on price and availability.
    I do the same with Sig P226 & P229.

I just got a 32 for the same reasons listed (not getting a .22 conversion though). I like weird guns, I like weird calibers. While Glocks aren't at all weird, some of their chamberings are, and a Glock that shoots three calibers IS unique, and while I own plenty of other Glock pistols, I didn't own the venerable 19 and wanted one. I chose this instead and got the conversion barrels. Great stuff- BETTER than a G19! I'm also a fellow Georgian, and use local holsters, but I would never use those sights; too bulky and peepholes on hanguns just ain't my jam. I don't mind stock but if I were to upgrade, I'd use the XS DST series instead.
For anyone wanting to do these conversions, please note that there are NO Gen5 conversions as of yet! You must use Gen3 or Gen4, and if you go with the Gen4 like I did, then for the 9mm conversion, you should also buy the G19 recoil spring assembly for proper ejection. Some would say that buying a new extractor is ideal, but I disagree- that ruins the gun for 40 and .357 use, and with just the 9mm RSA and barrel in mine, I get perfect lateral ejection.
One last thing: Mad Marine, if you happen to read this, what kind of detail paint do you use on your mags and pistols, and how did you apply it? They look awesome!

I believe the 357 Sig caliber is a missed opportunity. Reviewed in the past, somewhere in the Tube, a heavy review of Caliber conversions and methods. If I recall correctly, the frame was a Glock 20, 10 mm, which again is the same mags. I have messed around with a 40 to 9 conversion on a G22. Range use only. It would take a few parts and dollars for me to consider as a form of effective personal protection. The 357 Sig is an effective round and is proven. Check the Church shooting in White Settlement TX along with Law Enforcement use. It has been definitely overlooked. I think at the time of introduction it was the Plastic Glock that competed against S&W 357 Magnums of standard issue. Why change? Cost. I would appreciate a little more discussion on the 22LR conversion reliability. I've been considering one of those but the cost. I can simply buy another pistol for plinking practice. MAD great video. I like the approach you take.

You're lucky you can swap out barrels. In my country, each firearm part has to be licensed, barrels included. It's retarded.
Anyway, you can reload for the .357Sig and it's piss easy using Lee dies (Lee .40 carbide resizing die is essential here). Just get your neck tension right along with seating depth (some mild trial 'n error here). Develop a load and run it over the chrony. I thought it was a mission to load for, but it actually is VERY easy. (brass prep is always a smart idea - trim, clean flash hole and ream primer pocket. Then use the .40 sizing die to resize the case body). Oh and no lube required either.

One advantage of using the G23 frame is that you can get it in gen 5 with the MOS cut out. If you want to use a red dot sight it is much easier to do with the MOS. I have also found that using 357 mags is ever so slightly more reliable than shooting 357s from a mag marked 40. Really close inspection of the follower will reveal a tiny difference. Long live the 357 Sig!

Even though the v-crown is a sucked round in other calibers, it does penetrate better in .357Sig than the Speer gold dots. Gold dots for defense, but v-crowns (or Remington) for hunting javalina sized game.

I also own 45 acp, and the 357 sig is more powerful than 9mm, 40, and 45 acp. Typical 9mm muzzle energy around 325-400 ft/lbs vs typical 357 sig at 525-600 ft/lbs. 40 and 45 generally between 400-500 ft/lbs
I don't think the 357 sig is "dead" though. I usually get $.50/round and I know 9mm is about half that. I recently got that price for speer hollow points (1000 rd). It's my 2nd favorite. 357 is a snappier recoil, but I'm fully used to it now such that it doesn't feel any different to me than the 40 or 9, until I swap the barrel back to them. I'm tending not to do that though. I want that additional muzzle energy, and it's significant. With the 7.5" barrel and the Liberty Self Defense hollow point, I'm pushing a near .223 projectile (50 grain vs 55) at maybe 2500 ft / sec. It's rated at 2400, but I figure I may be getting another 75 to 100 out of the longer barrel. That round is running at rifle velocity; more like 308 than 223, but still blistering fast. I shot a 1/2 gallon water jug with that two days ago, and it threw the jug ten feet and tore it to shreds. Any 357 or 9 40, or 45 hollow point will make a nice mess of a water jug, but the Liberty 357 sig round just obliterated and shredded it. It exploded.

I carry a Glock 33 or my converted PC shield. I prefer the shield because it conceals better, but the good news is that both the shield and 33 I have 40 cal and 9mm barrels for so if need be I can convert those for those rounds and use my AR for 357 sig (video coming soon)I swear by that round, and I wish police stations hadn’t given them up so quickly. That out of the way, the G32 especially the Gen 4's (so far...waiting for the Gen 5's) are excellent pistols. Recoil isn't bad at all and I actually enjoy it tremendously. It shoots very flat and I know if I place it well, then it'll do it's job.

Running OEM extensions to make 16 round magazines, it’s still not difficult to carry and has twice the capacity of my HK45C. With good ammo selection, it’s not dramatically less lethal then .45 ACP. And boxes of LE surplus ammo for .40 are running around $30/50 in most places. Economical, size-efficient, good capacity, and a very very easy gun to shoot well. I’d be just as happy with a .357 Sig and Underwood ammo though, and I might still do that with the G22.

They’re available direct from Sig. Actually everything’s available directly from Sig but I found the same exact parts for cheaper. Except for the barrel length I want. Anyone who can help would definitely be appreciated. If I’m going to build something, i want it to be unique… there’s enough Sig Sauer Xcompact’s out there in 9mm. After I complete this, then I’ll do a regular slide and barrel length. AXG 357 Sig with a 3.9” barrel… That’s still a little bit unique, and a beautiful combination. But yeah, 10mm and 357 Sig are tops for dealing with high threat people. Both are capable of creating sympathetic organ damage from hydraulic shock from their velocity unlike a 9mm or 45ACP. I’ve always been a fan of both since I bought my USP 40 in 97. I wished I could’ve gotten a 357 Sig back then but the P229 was a little bit more than I could afford. Even $480 for USP 40 was expensive. But I saw it, wanted it and, well… had to have it. Good caliber… I didn’t think of the Glock, but with it being so interchangeable… ????
