So. There are 60% more compute units in the pro which is the 16k tflops. Then it can run in a dual parallel mode which doubles that to 33k. That is where that number comes from.

I'm a PC gamer myself but console is a complete different experience when it comes to playing with your friends.The wireless controller and the fighting games playing on tv which any casual player can join you,it's much more social and easier for others to join you.Which makes gaming a lot more fun.Pc gaming as much as you get high fps it's not as fun as console gaming imo.

The way I've been doing it for years is... PS when it comes out, then when it starts showing it's age, upgrade my PC. The PS5 is now showing it's age, not being able to push Dragons Dogma 2 past 30fps, which means it's now time for me to upgrade my 6700k/1080ti/16GB to a 13700k/4090/32GB which should keep me ahead of the game till the PS6. Been doing this for almost 15 years now, and it's worked great.
I've only played 3 games that only came to the ps5. Spiderman 2, bit mid, the new ratchet and clank, decent and Astro's playroom, quite good. If gta 6 comes out at 60fps on ps5/xbox series X then there is no need for a pro at least for me

I am still plenty content with my PS4 pro, haven't really felt like I am missing out on any games this generation. Might wait till the PS6 at this point to migrate, and in the meantime, a switch to compliment my gaming collection is all I care for.

I think a PS5 Pro is a little silly, considering that current gen games look as good or only slightly better than The Order 1886, which came out in 2015.

The difference between the ps4 pro and ps5 pro is that the ps4 came out while 4k tv's still weren't widely owned, but that happened quick which made sense to get updated hardware into homes for people that wanted to take advantage of their TVs capabilities. The appeal for a casual to have a 4k machine for a 4k TV was high. I don't see that same level of appeal for casuals with the ps5 pro
Idk.. to me this generation of consoles I think is the highest it could go. So it’s hard for me to justify a purchase from normal to pro. But I guess we’ll see how it plays out

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, the pitch and format used is so nostalgic. Bruce and Lawrence have a perfect cadence.
Also PlayStation 5 Pro' seems extremely extravagant in today's climate especially when you consider the original was unobtainable for almost a year after release for most. I have less games for this console than any other in my collection.

I'm not sold on another switch till I see that launch line up, I honestly don't care about upgrading till the next Zelda gets announced. I will play all those other Nintendo games eventually, next Mario 3d and kart can all wait.
I'm loving my 4090 PC and VR gaming, learning to mod as opened up so many possibilities, most dedicated VR experiences are too short, but amazing flat screen games modded for VR are way better experiences I've learned the past few months. UEVR injector mod turning any unreal engine game into VR pretty straightforward has opened up so many more possibilities for VR gaming

As a long-time PC gamer and now old, busy dad... I'm VERY interested in the PS5pro. The cost of fully upgrading my PC rig that's approaching 8 or 9 years old vs a few hundred bucks for a PS5pro seems reasonable. ESPECIALLY because I haven't played any of those excellent PS exclusives (even the ones that have ported to PC). Sure, my gtx1070 is managing Cyberpunk and Baulder's Gate and even struggle games like Kerbal Space Program 2 (I don't cry about dips below 30 fps), for now. But how much better could LoU2, Spiderman, FF7r, or Alan Wake, or Horizon look/run on my awesome 4k tv.
Additionally, a Pro model is likely going to run the best games through the end of this console generation without issue (and chug through some of the first games of the PS6 era). It might last me almost as long as my PC has (especially since I usually play games long after release and on sale).
The only reason I'm conflicted is that PlayStation might start porting more of its exclusives more quickly.
Just wanted to point out that the PS5pro market isn't JUST for hardcore enthusiasts looking to upgrade their PS5. I haven't owned a console since the old, fat PS3, and I'm interested.

As someone who yesterday started thinking about buying a ps5. This is good news for me. I will get a more powerful ps5 or a cheaper(hopefully) ps5 slim.
It may not be a substantial market, but for people like me who still haven't bought a ps5, the ps5 pro seems like a no-brainer.
If it can run Cyberpunk at 60fps with RT, or even a 4k RT 40fps mode, yeah that's almost compelling enough to me to buy one provided they lower the price of the base PS5 and make the Pro the current price of the PS5.
what's the point of the detachable disk drive? Why take it off the console? Presumably the only thing you'll be able to attach it to is another PS5 pro that would ALREADY HAVE ITS OWN DISK DRIVE
It's not so much that you can remove the disk drive but that Sony can manufacture a single chassis and give consumers the option to attach a disk drive if they want physical games

The only reason I got a PS5 was because my PS4 broke and it seems that as time goes by I realize I should have just bought another used PS4 because the PS5 isn't justifiable at all. I also have a PC and I should have just saved the money for a new GPU or something. Maybe a VR set up.

As someone still on my PS4 Pro, I am excited about the PS5 Pro as a stepping stone to the next gen. The jump from PS5 is not big, but the A.I. upscaling is pretty exciting since it promises to compete with DLSS.

I think a lot of people who got the ps5 got it a year or 2 after release. I got mine last year so it’s definitely too soon to upgrade . Maybe people who didn’t get it yet would get the pro but other than that I don’t see people upgrading much

I think a ps5 pro would do fairly well. It might get scalped. So we wouldn't actually know if the sales numbers are artificial to create demand.

But generally I do not see the difference between 30
FPS and 60 for most action games. Side by side, yeah, I can see *something* but most of the time, I just take the lower hit to my gpu and go to 30. My monitor can’t even go above 60, so why even bother with anything above that anyways?
This graphical race will always be arbitrarily compared to simpler, art styled games. We are constantly trying to push the boundaries, and while it is a lofty goal, I don’t see the benefits in the long run.
3D rendering will always look outdated in the future. Just look to the past, and not that long ago too!
Compared to a good 2d art style, pixel art even, it will always stand up better in the same fidelity than the 3D of today.
Spirted Away and Monsters Inc came out the same year, and yet, one already looks comically outdated compared to the other.

I'm not listening to any of these experts until the consoles out. We spent 6 months before release being told that xbox had it in the bag. The weak ps5 had no chance once gamepass was added to the mix. Weeks after launch suddenly it was the games are running better on ps5. Xbox is just waiting on the tools.(still waiting by the way). So I'll wait until its in people's hands before saying its a monster or a minimal upgrade. Or more likely somewhere in the middle. Ps sony didn't say no games until March they said no major ip sequels until March. New ip could be squeezed in there for launch.
They are only now starting to take the ps4 off life support and now they are pulling this sht. I’m sceptical until Sony actually confirms this but after like a year or 2 where the thing was out of stock pretty much everywhere and now only just starting to release games exclusively on next gen if they release a new console now I might just be done with consoles. This is by far the worst generation of consoles, they play exactly the same games as last gen apart from a few “next gen” exclusives and now they wanna release an upgraded console to play what? Those same last gen games? We don’t need an upgraded console, we need next gen games.

People bought PS for Souls, Yakuza, Persona, etc, they are all multiplatform now.
PSVR2 didn’t sell because there is no killer app for it still nor a vast library and not even backwards compatible with PSVR1. It’s a great VR headset just a terrible value.
Allegedly the Pro won't even be able to play GTAVI (or anything new targetting 30fps) at 60fps.
First of all a PS5 Pro will nit be $500, it will be more. Secondly I personally will not pay $500 for a Switch 2, for that money I'll get a Steamdeck.
