She's a terrible interviewer. I understand she needs to moderate a direction but the way she tries to cut in on so many of his answers is extremely distracting.
On the contrary, she let him drone on a few too many times with hardly any questions about opposing counterpoints, especially concerning presidential pardons.
One problem with the political divisiveness is that congressman use to spend more time together in Washington and had meals together. Now they go home and spend less time in Washington which is not a good idea.
I wont deny Bill Maher makes some well-needed points in the conversation that are just about as honest as you can get. He's broken more ground than I can say. And I've watched him since the beginning of "Real Time" My issue with him still remains- He can be a smug dick. Forgive my own honesty, but I think we could use more kindness in the world. This interviewer is asking well-crafted questions and is pivoting every time Bill bulldozes past her. Despite this, shes patient with him and continues to praise his perspective. And yet Bill interrupts her throughout and insults the audience. Just like on his podcast "Club Random" on "The View" he points out something is a joke when the laughter doesn't roar like he wants, insisting people are too sensitive. I had a decent enough education, but was very unsuited to being in class. So much of it was simply reciting by rote. I think your High School is the equivalent of our Secondary schools where finish around age 17 before going onto college. By that point should really know *how* to learn, which is what is missing with so many. We had a civics class only once or twice a week, while had English and Irish classes daily, and French and German classes 3 times a week. Most of those languages have done nothing for me in the intervening 30 years since finished school, but a lot of what learning in civics has helped me a lot more, in particular with critical thinking. That is something I see as being the biggest thing lacking from so so many people these days.

@@michaelweber5702 In what way do you believe Bill's lost his critical thinking?
Because he criticizes the silliness that comes from BOTH sides, rather than saying the Left (my side) is 100% perfect and the Right is 100% awful?
Isn't recognizing your own side's flaws what critical thinking is all about?
Please explain where you're coming from.

This is what you sound like when you're not afraid to tell the truth
seeing Bill live in London was a great night out, highly recommend seeing him live
Love or hate him Maher is on point his brutal honesty is basically facts
Bill is the best! I wish I could see his weekly show in full, instead of snippets on youtube. M in UK
That woman is as puckered up as Tom Hanks was at Ricky Gervais Golden globes
yes. love his movies but lost all respect for him when i saw that response to a very funny joke. everyone is fair game and censorship is bad.
"i love a drink as much as the next man....unless the next man is mel gibson!" - ricky g. hahaha
She's a terrible interviewer. I understand she needs to moderate a direction but the way she tries to cut in on so many of his answers is extremely distracting.
On the contrary, she let him drone on a few too many times with hardly any questions about opposing counterpoints, especially concerning presidential pardons.
Good for Bill, he's unafraid.
I Love Bill used to watch Politically Correct all the time Got me hooked can't miss a week now ❤
One problem with the political divisiveness is that congressman use to spend more time together in Washington and had meals together. Now they go home and spend less time in Washington which is not a good idea.
Say thank you Newt Gingrich!!
He started that in his first term as speaker of the house.
I wont deny Bill Maher makes some well-needed points in the conversation that are just about as honest as you can get. He's broken more ground than I can say. And I've watched him since the beginning of "Real Time"
My issue with him still remains- He can be a smug dick. Maybe so, man, but there's better ways to react when your attempt doesn't land with the world. As much as Bill calls out the ego of his adversaries, I'd encourage him to remember he has his own. We all do. The goal is to use it but also keep it in check. Humble yourself mate. You're no better than the rest of us.
Are you American? This sounds like a very British or French opinion...I agree, tentatively, however I think that's just his genius, millionaire personality. Still the most sensible person on TV.
Wow well said but i like him crapping shitting pissing on the absurdity of life which is comfortable for elderly me as i slide out of living a life
True. But he’s quite a bit braver. That said I concur with your points. He’s a bit thin skinned and cantankerous for a courageous critic isn’t he? A unique soul.
I’d say he’s better than many….we’re born as equals…but we rarely remain that way
Yep, he can be all that. It really annoys me sometimes, but often - I kinda get it. First off, he's a comedian. 😅
Aside from ranting kinda being part of his brand, it's also just hard not to sound pompous when you're that intelligent, creative, well informed, and therefore PISSED OFF about all the idiocy going on.
But, yeah, he can be rude and self centered and interruptive and callous and excessive. Sometimes that's fine, and sometimes - Bill, just rein in that massive ego, dude...
Still love the guy though, and I'm glad we at least still *have* fearless voices like his calling out all the bullshit out there...
Love you Bill.
For an atheist ? He is blessed with discernment and truth .. ? Love this guy !
Yes, as atheists we aren't blinded by fantasy. Reality and proof. That is why.
@@morbidmanmusicwe all have our own "sky daddies", some are very present and others are absent . The one's with their own books and the readers are more vocal and insistent in pushing their views onto everyone else and don't like it when you disagree with them.
Agreed. I'm a Christian & it's almost embarrassing when he speaks & behaves in a way thats more Christ-like than those who have the gall to claim they are followers of Jesus Christ. If they are- they obviously have a different- aka- FALSE- version of Jesus Christ. (BOTH sides of the aisle)
Great book!
Bill is a true fun loving caring American. Thx Bill
Bill makes me proud to be a Boomer!
to like hating the other side is like scratching poison ivy which feels great for a second but then only gets worse and makes you more miserable.
excellent parallel >> Too bad most people need an 'enemy' in their life or at least someone to hate.
That's the best analogy I've heard for what's happening in this country.
Great analogy!
Because they need worth like everyone does, but they don't have it with anyrhing else. They are missing something that is largely satisfying to them so they have unfortunately filled it with partisan politics.
I like him, he is funny and honest with his perspectives. A twist on many issues. The interviewer had her hands full
Bill is the man of era with his truthful and honest words! ❤👏
Bill tells it like it is.. Don't miss him on Friday nights
Democrats are not longer liberals.
In my house no one can interrupt me during Billy!
Why is HATE a predominant theme in our culture? First and foremost, everyone acts like they're a tough guy (or girl) on the Internet. A bully is in actuality a coward, and there's no bully like the "hidden bully" when it comes to cowardice!
Liked this except that Bill should have said at the end, "no, the only vote that will count is a vote for Biden". No write-ins, no 3rd party both are a wasted vote.
I am thankful for Bill Maher. When did moderate become a dirty word? Only when the grown-ups start leading will we be able to move forward.
The audience need to WAKE up!!!!!!!
Wake up but not woke...
"The definition of family is people who hate each other without resorting to violence" ---------- Bill Maher!
and some do
That's sad. My family is very close and our home life is peaceful. No fighting, no rivalry, no tension.
Are Biden and Trump the best American political system can muster up?
No. But with death threats seemingly OK what sane person would want to be President?
And Kennedy, YAY.
@@blackblake3658 Every person that is public no matter the job, entertainer or politician get death threats, and im sure some in ordinairy jobs do too.

Bill makes a lot of sense.
She does not like most of what Bill is saying. But she did browse through his book, credit given. Still, couldn't be more awkward of an interviewer, at least for this guest.
Perhaps, she’s just trying to keep the flow orginized.
Probably because of all of the f words.😂
Dear Bill, Im a DEM and never come/came close to marching for Hamas. I am most Dems and we unequivocally rebuke Hamas. We also rebuke Netanyahu for being an agent of Hamas on Oct 6 by ignoring distress calls for 9 hours. Then unleashing ethnic cleansing on innocent people of Gaza.
Bill Rules!!! Our generations Mark Twain!
Bill on fire! Brilliant man
Bill keeps saying 1/2 the country are pro Trump. Not so. They're just making more noise.
Yeah, and the polls are no longer independent and balanced either.
Bill is the OG and is getting younger and funnier.
Hearing Bill saying that Trump is probably going to win sends shivers down my spine. The thought of a lying narcissist getting the keys to the Whitehouse again is beyond me and says so much about the level America has sunk to. We over here in Europe looked to you for guidance, support and having the feeling that America might not be perfect, but it has got it's finger on the pulse. That has all been blown up.
Maybe our problem is that we look up to the US for guidance? Maybe a country with death penalty and without accessible healthcare should look up to us more.
@@cioccolateriaveneziana Well said, and of course that should be the case. My point however was just to show what kind of damage one narcissist can do in just a few years. Absolutely destroying the moral fabric of, not just one party, but also 50% of the population. It’s shocking that no matter what he’s done, they all still dance to his tune. Absolutely appalling 🤮
Shiver a little less. I like Maher a lot, but election prediction fall pretty far outside his area of expertise.
@@robertw.1499 Yes, it will be awful. But I agree with Bill that life won't change much for the most. (It will change for those sentenced to death - Trump merrily signed execution orders even on the last day in office in 2021. It will change for soldiers, depending on what crazy idea comes to his head. Or for state employees if he decides to blackmail the Congress by not paying wages to postal workers etc.)
We'll survive. His presidency had even one positive effect on Europe: thanks to his protectionism, the negotiations of the scandalous Transatlantic Trade Pact were halted. He damaged American interests there but he unintentionally helped us.
It's a possibility for sure especially since he's reorganized the GOP into an army of goons that will bend any rule at his whim. The good news is that 8 years ago, NYers were the only ones who had been hearing him whine for years and were just sick of him. Now a lot more of the country is just as fatigued and just want him to shut up and go away.
I'm a Republican who likes Bill Maher. Been a fan for years
This video is quite the tour through all of Bill's recent topics, jokes, and talking points!
WE LOVE YOU BILL!
Why does everyone always have to spit the caveat "I don't always agree with him?" Is there ANYONE you always agree with?
No but keep in mind it's always sunny after rain!
Bill is intelligent. I don’t always agree with him however, he is spot on about how dumb politicians have become.
You've got to love Bill. He's genuine and calls out the stupidity on both sides.
You want to truly know how Americans are doing? Talk to people like me who did everything I was supposed to and paid my own way till my body gave out in my 40s. I started paying taxes at 13 and started voting at 18...now I'm 50 and wondering will I eat today or pay the electric bill 🤔 I don't blame Biden or Trump, I blame the congress for looking down on the ones that make them rich. Us peasants!!! SHAMELESS GREED
One of the best at skewering all sides
Tina Brown needs to learn how to "listen" and stop interrupting her guest!!
brilliant man
Most of the people hates themselves. That’s the real issue here.😢
As a fellow writer, I very much appreciate Bill's latest book and his work on the last part of the show, Last Word. Brilliant, provocative stuff.
Now that Kamala Harris is the candidate and should she win, I would not be surprised if Biden takes the heat and pardons T. I don't want it to happen, and he certainly deserves to go to prison for a long time. But the country is so damn polarized, I think we all just need to find a way to get back to NORMAL. Normal would be nice.
If Harris wins, Trump gets convicted, she will pardon him for the good of the country.
Bill is one of the most interesting people on earth. Missed opportunity- a disappointingly milk-toast interview.
milquetoast
I like Bill & belive in sicence
Bill don’t ever change you have such a great show 😊

Nah, I never get used to smug.
So has his habit of constantly checking his zipper during his Real Time opening monologues every week.
Not that I consider myself a political activist. But the wind has blown me to a spot today, where others who feel the same as me have their eyes closed and can't understand we are on the same side. If a patriot cares about the nation make it the USA... patriot of Democracy
It makes me puke to think that Trump might win .....or be pardoned. So wrong.
Then you should probably get a life and find some Joy outside of politics. The president should be inconsequential in your life
Cope.
Aww maybe find a better hobby
With you , messed up.
The opposite makes me puke.
Tina Brown is a brilliant British iconic journalist who led an engaging interview with Bill Maher. Back in the nineties, my family and hers stayed at the same dude ranch in Wyoming! I gave her, her son and her husband Harold Evans (who was the publisher for Random House at the time) a 30 minute walking geological tour of the area at the ranch. We had a fun time together and I just love her wit and inquisitive mind! #TinaBrown
My high school education was a joke in the 70s and it was a Catholic High School. Grammar school and college is where I got my education. Since the majority of the country only has a high school education, the US is in trouble. A republic needs an educated electorate!
Mike
I like you Bill and agree 99% with your reasoning & 100% with your sausy, spicey humor! 😂😂
Vote blue
He keeps real but he acts like he is always right. Unfortunately he won’t never admit it, or even worse, he doesn’t realized he may be wrong
When you use double negatives, that means he WILL admit it and he DOES realize it.
*Reply to:* _"He keeps real but he acts like he is always right. Unfortunately he won’t never admit it, or even worse, he doesn’t realized he may be wrong"_
Do not write in a candidate's name. Wasted vote.
People are so stupid to do that
Using that logic, to a certain degree, votes for the person who loses is a wasted vote.
As a friend explained to me, vote libertarian so they can get above the 5% of votes cast line so they will qualify for matching campaign funds, an account that has grown to hundreds of millions, which will give that candidate the money to compete in a national campaign.
Then we will have a situation where two parties have to combine platforms to beat a/the third party!!
Bill Maher makes sense of our F-up world and, at the same time, makes me laugh, think, and hope. What else is there? It was an excellent interview-chairs, not so much.
No Pardon and only commutation of sentence and ONLY IF a full guilty acknowledgement of all crimes first and no longer involved in any political or financial dealings.
We need more people that speak these topics in the way that bill conveys him. It really makes sense and has logic. I don’t think I’ve ever disagreed with anything he’s said.
