Jerry may be the only guest Bill has had that he respects to the point where he dials back his tendency to take conversations hostage and actually comes across as relatively humble.
Probably b/c he knows what everybody else does, that Jerry is his superior.
I’ve watched a few Jerry interviews and he actually does a good job not letting loudmouths overtake a convo.
@@johns7530 I do think Jerry will check out that rabbit when he gets back to his house though lol that was a cute gift
Bill controls himself with the altering consumption. Jerry controls himself period. They reek of old friends.

100. Jerry is a guy Bill doesn't want to be insufferable to.
Jerry is so fast on his feet. Jerry asks what your weight. Bill says what a random question. Jerry responds with what's the name of the show. LoL
😂 true
I knew he was smart, but like you said, he's (at 70) quick and sharp.
Sharp as knife, no wonder he is a billionaire!!
He said "why is that a relevant question?" He didn't use the word "random".
Jerry's willingness to not just go along and to say "no" is unmatched.
As is his willingness to accept an 80 minute hand job from Bill. What an absolute waste of time.
Yeah cause he’s an a hole 😂
Jerry doesn't suffer fools, can't help but love the guy
His recent Unfrosted movie is underwhelming. Very disappointing.
@@cdr3986 Was it too smart for you?
Jerry is the definition of mental stability. I think that’s why he’s loved…. There is no extra !
Maher is off his rocker and rambling, jerry is looking to get out of there respectfully.
So well put. Bravo sir!
Love when this show is so balanced, with Jerry there's a good back and forth instead of Bill dominating the conversation.
Bill's a little intimidated by him.
he is preachy sometimes, specially with women
@@MauriceOrtiz-ut8yia little?……he turned into a 10yr old 😆

Jerry not caring about Bill’s hundreds of insecurities is hilarious.

When bill gets drunk and high it all goes downhill.
"The beautiful things. Not worry that they have passed, instead be happy that they have been."

Agreed!
If the show was just these two every week, it would be amazing.
I can't belive Jerry is older then Bill, he absolutely does not look anywhere close to 70.
He quit aging when he turned 53
In fairness, I don’t think Bill dyes his hair, at least not as much as Jerry.
He could pass for 50. Easily.
He has a billion dollars!
They both look late 50’s.

Even Bill and Jerry couldn't fake respect for Colbert, Kimmel and Fallon. Quickest change of subject ever.
I enjoyed Fallon on SNL, but not a fan of his Tonight Show hosting - never watched an episode, only the odd clip on YT. Too much fake laughter and sycophantic ass-kissing. I've never liked Colbert, but I think Kimmel does a great job.

Jerry will at least live to 100
I enjoyed the way Jerry tried to get Bill to 'move on or let it go' whenever he tried to talk about the past and equate how it would work today. Who cares? Bill could learn a lot from him and be a happier man, instead of a man shaking a rake.
Bill Maher, Jewish by blood.. sadist by choice. Both of their voices are so whiny… I couldn’t finish listening. But Jerry is a breeze of fresh air comedically. I hope behind closed doors Jerry talked to him about how Bill has become a cog of the Hasbara machine. Albeit, unknowingly. We think he was hypnotized by Noa Tishby. She’s incredibly good at what she does. I watched her before October 7th on Bill’s show and I was transfixed. She’s beautiful and soooo persuasive that listeners don’t realize how she, without fail, avoids with vigor, VITAL information in discussion. So I was reminded to look up the meaning of the word Hasbara that I first learned of in 2005. The Hasbara playbook is a step by step process for how to commandeer control of a story around anything Israel. It’s a step by step. And you can watch the talking heads of Hasbara rattle off each step and if step one doesn’t work, they go to the next step. It’s a playbook for how to brainwash on a mass scale and have brainwashees become brainwashers. It’s been really really really really really successful- especially at the turn of the 21st century and the 2005 conflict. But now the Information Age has become more advanced.. Hasbara’s dominion is starting to crack. Cogs of Hasbara are usually easy to spot once you’ve read the playbook. But in Bill Maher’s case.. it’s quite interesting because he parades himself around media figures as a self described “old school” liberal. Um.. he’s as old school liberal as Megan McCain. He’s not a liberal. The Buffalo Springfield song lyric comes to mind “there’s a man with a gun over there, telling me, I’ve got to beware” when I think of old school liberals; I think of politically inclined Hippies. But now the man with the gun is an Israeli on an Israeli owned GUNSHIP. And no one is stopping to stop the sound and take a look what’s going ‘round. But if they were to do so, they would see what’s going ‘round is NOT Bill Maher being “a liberal” or a hippie at all… 😂. He’s being a right wing conservative and mindless agent of hasbara. Plain and simple. And he needs help from balanced and reasonable non-warmongering Jews like Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David.
Well said. As someone who adores Bill, I like to see people challenge his cynicism and try to soften him.
I wanna find myself somewhere in between these two mindsets. As I could relate to both perspectives. One, how time passes, and desperately trying to learn from the past, and the other not wasting any time thinking about what you can’t change.
Shaking a rake! lol
Bill is great the way he is.
I watched Paul McCartney blast away on the piano at age 79 as pyrotechnics exploded around him at the Syracuse Got Back concert stop in June of 2022. Before the concert, my buddy (same age) nodded off and I was like 'WTF, we are nodding off waiting to see a man who is our father's age ROCK for two hours'. It was a wake up call at 54 not to shift life into neutral at this stage of life. It was a seminal moment.
This is the most humble I've ever seen Bill. He truly respects Jerry and this was a well-balanced back and forth. 👍
He complimented his wife and kids and I think he respects what Jerry has or thinks he has in his mind. I do feel Bill gets lonely, not that he can't surround himself with acquaintances or girl of the week, but it's lonely when you don't have a close person who knows and accepts you as you are. Maybe he will find that person still.
I agree completely.
Seems like Bill respects Jerry a lot more than Jerry respects Bill lol that whole silver rabbit thing was cringey
I love Jerry pushing back on Bill’s absolutisms. It’s like a full brain massage.

Yes, it's great!

Their personalities and styles of comedy seem so different but they get along so well!
Bill, "I only look forward."
Now let's spend the next hour looking at memorabilia and discussing the old times.
Smoking weed will do that
@@sp6726 😂
Bill Maher tends to do that. He’s always talking about the past. You can even see in many of his guests they don’t want to talk about it as much as him. But the past is all Maher has, he seems like a lonely guy. And even though he tries to act younger or like he’s always looking forward you notice that deep down he know he’s past his prime and his best days are over. I get the feeling like he cries himself to sleep sometimes.
His show is kinda like talk therapy.
Don Rickles had a great line " Jerry Seinfeld, great guy when you talk to him it's like being alone "
Great line but it was a fill in the ________(famous name).

That's brilliant and Don was great. Nobody faster than Jerry, he looks cool, calm and collected, but his brain acts first and then the mouth works. So quick, fantastic

To Jerry Seinfeld: I absolutely loved the new movie Unfrosted!!
My husband and I are in our 40s and while we did not live through the 60s, the era of the movie, the comedy, the content was absolutely refreshing and hilarious! We called our kids in who are 16, 14 and 9, I can’t tell you enough how nice it was to laugh and watch a movie all together with no strange political motives in the story! I am very grateful for this❤
Same for me and my family. Great description of how we felt watching it too.
I wish I could say the same. I watched it with my 12-year-old daughter, and now she's a Maoist.

….it’s actually a deep mutual respect and whilst we know Seinfeld is a decent guy it speaks very highly of Maher that Seinfeld respects him as he does.
He was pretty deferential to Chevy Chase
He does it all the time. But I don't consider that's what he's doing here. They are very old friends, who have a long history in common & understand each other & each hold the other in high regard. Why make more of it than that?
Oh Jerry is going to take exactly none of Bill's crap.

He'll compliment but not overly. I like Bill's gift, he needs the room of that big home to keep all his memorabilia. I bet he has a lot. I wonder who he will leave it to one day.

-wife- & -kids- ?
Oh man, seems to be a running theme with Bill's podcast, two people shooting the shit and agreeing about some things and not others, and it's mostly funny and entertaining, and they compliment each other liberally throughout and they're still good friends when it's all over - and then comes all the commentators here who want to treat it almost like it was a political debate and their guy somehow "owned" the other guy.
@@supertrexandroidx Just like the old days.
Thanks for letting those of us who grew up with Seinfeld and Politically Incorrect hang out with our friends Bill and Jerry!
Love how Jerry stays out of politics . He never said nothing bad or good about which side he is on.

Another missed Seinfeld reference was when Bill said: The Strike. Which is the notorious Festivus episode.
Jerry is literally Bill’s big brother during this conversation
Literally ?
Figuratively
Both
Figuratively, unless you want to look like a dumbass! Better yet... Leave both out. The sentence still works. The trendy overuse of 'literally" is usually not only incorrect, it's unnecessary!
Not both. Do they have the same parents for just this conversation? No. Not literally words matter.
The conversation about porn and how bad things are for innocent children now is just another example of the irony of a hardcore lifelong Democrat who has spent his whole career attacking the Right and conservatism. Bill has everything a man could want material wise, but you can tell he is not content, terrified of death, and seemingly a little lonely and regretful.
I like this genuine and vulnerable Bill much more than normal Bill. What a pleasant episode.

Jerry acts like an older brother to Bill
Wow...nice to hear a guest speak. To distract Bill from his old man grumbling is an astounding feat. Well done, Jerry.
Jerry has his issues, but a wife he loves, kids he adores, they saved him in some ways he says and ready for the next thing. Bill seems tired, I think he dislikes traveling and that is one reason he is cutting back and maybe the heavy pot etc is making him more forgetful. He remembers some things very well but when stoned, forgets his thoughts a lot. He was better with Jerry. Some guests he was awful.

This was such a delight. I've watched so many Jerry Seinfeld interviews, and I've never seen him act like this relaxed and casual. He just hanging with an old friend. Congrats Bill, you've really done something new and special.
You should check out Jerry on Spike Feresten's car podcast. Get Jerry talking about cars and, at least for a while, he's just a regular guy who loves his hobby.
When Jerry called him Billy I think that's all we needed to hear. Just imagine working with a guy for 40 yrs
I never wanted this to end! What a total, absolute, escape; had a smile on my face the entire time. And Jerry and I are reading the same book! I also 100% agree with Jerry's articulate comments regarding Bill's weekly 'New Rules'; which is the funniest, most creative, original comedy every week. Like Jerry, it leaves me breathless with appreciation for such prowess and elegance in relaying a skit that asks people to think (while making them laugh!). 😊

The more I see Jerry Seinfeld, the more I respect and like him. He's being, as he always is, generous to his host, and it seems to me, here, also a good friend. While I'd like to be Jerry's friend, I'm also well aware that neither my opinion of him, nor this ridiculous desire for friendship are of any consequence to him, whatsoever. Love Jerry Seinfeld! Right off the bat "How much do you weigh?" Maher asks "how is that relevant?" And Jerry, bless him, responds "what's the name of this show?" Jerry took control from the get-go. And by not letting Maher steamroll over him in the conversation, Seinfeld amazingly succeeded in making Maher more likeable.

Which episode is the weakest, iyo? Maybe that one in season 8 or 9 where Kramer is driving on an empty gas tank, seeing where it will stall? In Jerry's car I think?
@@Three_Random_Words Yes, i think that one season towards the end where Larry David went AWOL had some questionable ones where you began to realize that maybe the series was running out of gas. But actually, the weakest for me was the FIRST episode where that female friend of Jerry was coming to visit him, and George was giving him advice on what the significance of the initial handshake meant. Yes but they both have OCD tendencies and neurotic things like most people and Jerry doesn't want Bill hyper focusing on them. For him meditation works, for Bill, well he drinks and smokes too much. I think I'd rather meditate few minutes a day if it worked.

When speaking of his book he says, "I put a lot of work in this" and Jerry gives him a great come back line, "I'm sure you did" with a shit eating grin and Bill mumbles to him "shut up". Of course, they both knew that there were ghost writers and editors involved.
That he has writers for New Rules is hardly a secret, nor is it a secret that he spends most of the week fine-tuning that editorial. That he put the book together while writers were on strike probably means he did most of the rework for book format, and every author should have an editor.
