The 0-60 mph with 1ft roll out is right in line with the Car and Driver result of 3.9s and 1/4 mile 12.5 @111 mph (0-60 was 4.1s without rollout).
Yes, the vid I was waiting for, this car is indeed very impressive stock, i remember when i watched carwow do a launch, it got 4 seconds flat 0 to 60 ,for a golf,shocking, it grips and hooks like crazy,it can go faster on a prepped surface for sure like a 4.1 maybe and 12.4 or 12.3, Imagine with mods, it would be a monster that would embaarss sports cars, not sure if you plan to do mods on it but its a good car even stock. A gti is cool, but the r takes the cake for me.
If I keep it and don’t get a 2024 mustang, yes I will start doing some things to it! ;) stay tuned

Nice video man. I did a 12.47 at 109.7 mph last year at the drag strip as my best. Quick tip. As soon as the rpm’s hit 4,000 rpm let go. Don’t sit. Worked for me and I heard few other guys had luck with that also

I’m not sure which brand they use but it’s ceramic and 15% front, 5% rear, 70% windshield
I feel like this pretty much confirms that the Mk8.5 with a little more power will probably be about 3.9 0-60.
Yeah it might be .2 quicker to 60 and .2 quicker in the 1/4mi i'd assume if it's truly making more power.
@@JVette01 Fastest I've seen is 3.9 on FastestLaps, completely stock. No rollout. These cars are impressive.
I wouldn’t trade my 2008 vw 2.0t for a mustang or any American car that’s just my opinion I have 3 vw cars now and one of them is classic I want to get one more classic vw golf mk2 but I don’t have room for 5 cars
I also have an 8R Performance with 320 Hp. Try to do the dragrace in the Driftmode you have more power going to the rear. You can do the 0-62 mph in 4.2 sec in this mode.

It's fast, but how the dsg sounds this sluggish when upshifting lol
In launch control mode, it doesn't do the pop/fart when shifting. It shifts in a way that doesn't lose any torque/power during the gear shift.
You should do some Draggy runs on some of your buddies cars, it's pretty interesting and I can't wait to see a Mustang back on this channel.
1/4 mile about the same as my stock Jaguar XFR, 0-60 the golf a bit quicker, but the XFR is RWD. XFR wins with the glorious 5.0 Supercharged V8 note though piped through some Spires back boxes 😛

I just got the confirmation that my golf r order is in production, the sale associate at the dealership told me that im getting the carbon optiom, he didnt know what it meant, he said its not a 20 anniversary, just a golf r 2023, dsg in blue, someone knows whatbit means, btw its in Montréal, Canada

Could you comment on reliability and living with type R and GTI . Which one would you recommend with running costs are taken into account such as brakes , oil services , unexpected things .
The GTI will be less to maintain and own in general but the R not much more.
Can you compare say brake rotors and pads ? I’m watching your vids, R is awesome ride … wonder is RS3 or S3 are worth the extra $$

The MK8’s performance is def better all around, over the MK7/7.5. Now all VW has to do is get rid of that atrocious interior, and add some functionality and ergonomics back to it, and it will be a banger of a car! One that doesn’t even really need to be tuned to be satisfied with.
Agreed. However, on the interior, once you own it, it’s not a big deal like everyone that doesn’t own it says it is
@@JVette01 yeah, objectively though, the interior shouldn’t have to be “owned” in order for it to be “decent”. That’s the thing. It’s just “decent”, and I would argue also that those who own it have some bias towards it because they ultimately spent a lot of money for it. So of course they’re going to “choose” to be fine with it.
Tbh, all it needs is to go back to physical touch button steering wheels buttons, and the same with climate controls. Really, that’s all they need to do to make it 1000% better. There are just way too many steering wheel haptic touch buttons for it to be intuitive and ergonomic. That seems to be the biggest gripe regarding the interior, from reviewers. I was able to sit and mess with one during SEMA two years ago. Not a fan.
I’ve driven a Tiguan with a similar steering wheel but actual buttons and the touch ones look and feel more premium. To each their own though, I know there’s alot of people that don’t like change
@@JVette01 If a premium look is what they’re going for, while sacrificing ergonomic functionality, then that’s just bad, hence why there are so many very negative reviews regarding it. That’s why we have reviews from non-owners. It’s good to get objective thoughts on it, and the objective thought regarding his interior is very negative for a reason. It’s not about change. Change is good. How they change it is the determining factor here.
