Beautiful kayak bro.I started researching and saving a year, before Covid hit. I purchased my 1st kayak, and I'm loving my boat. While waiting 8 month's. I wanted the Blue Lagoon, Hoodoo Sport 120 pdl, with the through hull bow storage hatch, and toe control, drop down rudder system. I had already purchased my J2 bixpy, FF, Cabela's battery & many other accessories. I fish large lakes, resevoirs, and other fisheries. I'm 5ft 7, 151 lbs, and my hull and deck, is setup, identical, to the. Vibe Seaghost, and shearwater. My kayak with the bixpy gets 4.5- 5.3 mph. Over 6mph, with a very light pedal. My 12V Cabela's battery, inside my power box I made runs all my accessories. Now she's on her kayak cart for winter. But I did order a 2nd bixpy battery, I'm going to mount, on a bracket under my seat, so she'll never run low. On speed 6, the bixpy lasts all day. But I love to cover water, and next season have tournaments lined up. So I'll really be able to explore away from 100 other kayaks. Now everyone seems to have some sort of motor on there kayak. 🙏 🎣
Thank you. Sounds like you have an awesome setup. The Bixpy is a great addition to have on a kayak. It can extend your range and make a long day of fishing easier on the way back to the ramp. I don't get to fish that much, so it helps me save time on the water. I'll be fishing throughout the winter, so stay tuned.
Thanks for the video! After a year of use would you still recommend the Bixby for a 14 ft hobie pa360? Seems easier and cheaper than a torquedo or a motorguide.
Thanks for watching. I have PA 12 and the Bixpy works well to get me to my fishing area. Then I use my drive to get around. I fished quite a bit of salt in strong current and winds last year. The Bixpy did ok, but I had to help with my fins. I think it would be ok for a PA14 if you don't fish in strong current. I did find a good deal on a used Torqeedo and will be showing that soon. It does provide more torque and speed on my PA 12. Stay tuned for those videos.
Great install (thought I BELIEVE those are locking "nuts" not "bolts"!) video! Do you find the battery weight on the rear affects the buoyancy of the PA?
Thank you. I always mix up nuts and bolts for some reason 😀 I end up getting the extension cable and putting the battery on the side of my seat. Even in the back, you will not notice any difference with the battery. It only weighs 7lbs. On a long weekend trip, I had 3 Bixpy batteries with me and did not notice any difference with buoyancy. I stored 2 under my seat and the one I was using was on the side of my seat. I would recommend getting the extension cable if you have a PA. I like having it close to me, so I can easily install the kill switch. I'll make updated video with how everything is setup soon.
@@TomyTekOutdoors Thanks TommyTek! I will look into that extension. And I hope I didn't insult you. I'm not much at DIY, and mix up terms all the time! Plus I have no sense of direction, so love using my fish finder GPS to mark where I enter the lake so I can find my way back!
@@RogerFordTheSmilingBassHole You're welcome. Glad to help. No worries. I was not offended at all. I just upgraded my Fish Finder. That will make a great winter project.
Hi great informative video thanks. When lowering the motor does it clip into the holder easily under its own weight? It looks alittle tight. Does it have to be clipped in there for forward motion? Thanks
Thank you. You're welcome. It takes a little bit of force for it to clip into the holder. It doesn't when you lower it. It will eventually when you are moving at higher speeds.
What’s up man I’ve also got a PA12 360 .. been thinking about adding a bixby to move spot to spot and use pedals to fish… what kind of range and battery life and speeds are you getting out of it ?
That is exactly how I use the Bixpy Jet on my PA. Here's my older video with speed test results with the J-1 ua-cam.com/video/fMBm0D-ZAME/v-deo.html. I have to redo my J-2 speed test video, since my files were corrupted. I forget what the numbers are off the top of my head. We're getting some warm days now, so I should be able to remake that video soon.
Curious if you are having issues with loading and unloading the kayak from your truck now that the rear handle/grip is covered by the power pole mount. Also does the new hardware scrape on the ground when you are unloading from your truck? Thx
unfortunately, it does touch the ground when I lift it onto the back of my truck. I don't have a problem with the rear handle. I can show that in a future video.
@@TomyTekOutdoors Alright cool. I've decided on doing a power pole mount with the bixpy on my crescent lite tackle so I don't have a rudder. I didn't want to add the extra pole to steer and would rather just use my paddle if I could. The added pole might work better but I'm gonna have my paddle onboard anyways 🤷

Can you use a paddle to turn your kayak while this is running?
Yes you can. I can't show that in a future video. I use stick steering or use my 360 drive to turn.

Does the j2 mount kit work on the existing power pole inserts of the 2020 outback?
Yes. It will fit on anything with the 4 power pole mounting screw holes. I have a video coming up soon that will show the install on my 2019 Outback.
@@TomyTekOutdoors thanks
Does the boxy mount come already with the motor. Or is it a separate price?
The J-2 Outboard Motor kit comes with the motor and the battery only. You purchase the mount separately.
Do you have any issues loading or unloading your yak with the mount sitting so far back?
The mount does touch the ground when I tilt my kayak to load onto my truck. You can put a mat down to help protect it.
Install is simple. We want to see a speed and agility test.
That video is coming soon. I recorded it, but the files got corrupted. I'll film it again soon, since it's starting to get warm. Stay tuned.
