Thanks so much for covering the thru-hull adapter for the Bixpy! I agree that the swapping in and out with the mirage drive will be a bit less than ideal, but this will be a great solution for my Passport. (At some point, I hope to get a Revo 13 for a bit more speed.) Now if only it were possible to see dolphins while kayaking on my local lake! 🤣 Mac

No problem! It will work fine on a Passport 😀 just watch out for those dolphins 😂

How long does the battery last on a day out fishing? Does the battery come with its own charger?

These Bixpy’s look cool but do seem very expensive at the same time. I did the Hobie cassette mod with a Watersnake T18 for my Revo13 last year and couldn’t be happier with it. Even got a bit more speed by using a push propeller prop vs the Watersnake one. Yes it takes a bit of time but the total cost was about a 1/4 of the Bixpy for those who can’t afford it.

Yep they are not cheap. Lightweight lithium ion batteries are expensive so most of the cost comes from that I expect. Pretty cool plug and play system though so for someone not wanting to make their own motor it’s a good easy option.

Hi Liam, great vid as always. I was wondering if you have tried the revo 13 and how you feel it compares to the revo 16/adventure? I am upgrading from a little 9ft cheap kayak which was completely not suitable for the fishing I would like to do. I live in Plymouth and would tend to launch from Mutton Cove (close to devils point and royal william yard - pretty strong tides) and would like to do trips of about 3 miles out and 3 miles back but fairly close to the shore. Do you have any recommendation on which would be more suitable for me? I'm 6ft and 72kg/160lbs and 26yo. Cheers

Hi Drew, the Revo 13 is not too far off the pace of a Revo 16 on flat water. The Revo 16 does seem to hold its speed a little better in rough conditions though but in general there is not a huge amount between them in terms of speed - maybe 0.5knots in a like for like effort input. It would be a great choice for general inshore trips and covering distances of 5-10 miles during a day session is no trouble on one. A good kayak to be in if the tide is pushing against you a bit too! Would be fine for your height/size as well. If buying new, check out Cornwall Canoes - they have some 2022 Revo 13 models currently on offer on the website. As the Revo 16/Adventure is now discontinued you would have to find one second hand. They do pop up for sale every so often.

@@CornishKayakAngler thanks for that, that's not much at all and wouldn't bother me in smaller trips. I'll have a look, cheers!

I expect you can use the Universal Rudder Adaptor that Bixpy sell. Just swap this out for your existing rudder, providing the rudder mount on your kayak will take the 10mm rudder pin. You can then use it / steer the motor with the existing footrest controls on the kayak.

Do you know if installing it on the drive well affects your transducer on an outback?

I need to try the Thru-Hull Adaptor on my Outback so I’m unsure at the moment. It didn’t affect it on the Revo though.

On the road leading down to it. There is only a small section that is not double yellowed. Just have to hope it’s not busy! Going early helps 😉

You don’t have to pay additional for a battery, the Bixpy kits come with a lithium battery included. They aren’t cheap though, but it’s each to their own. I use this on a tender boat as well as occasionally on the kayak. Quite a useful piece of kit for me. Still love paddling though as well!
