610AD Sui Dynasty never reached Taiwan. Their sailors only managed to land on the Pescador Islands located between Taiwan and Mainland Chinese coast. Until the Portuguese sailors accidentally discovered Ilha Formosa in 1544 AD, Formosa/Taiwan was known as Terra Incognita, AKA undiscovered territory, to the outside world.
This narrative claiming that China reached Taiwan in 610 is pure B.S. propagated by the CCP for their nationalist propaganda and is not a true historical fact. Please get this corrected. Thanks

Taiwan was fortunate on the political front. Chiang Kai-shek's son Chiang Chin-kuo enabled every one to vote. His successor Li Teng-hui was a Cornell agricultural PhD and established land reform so that farmers became wealthy and were extremely productive on all fronts. The next Kuomingtang term sowed the seeds for Taiwan silicon valley.
The outgoing President Tsai Ing-wen is a kind of genius and helped propel Republic of China Taiwan to the world trade forefront. They all governed according to the 400 year old maxim of Emperor Kangxi, "govern by virtue and not by fear". This string of luck makes Taiwan a true treasure island 寶岛 。

If we are discussing the Spring and Autumn Period and the Three Kingdoms, we would say we are discussing China. And from the KMT-CCP Civil War, when they claimed each other's territory was theirs, to the 1992 Consensus of "One China, with respective interpretations", it is clear that China is governed by two regimes. However, in recent years, the Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party has tried to reinterpret the de-Sinicization and change the curriculum to erase history. But it cannot change the fact that Taiwan and mainland China are both China.but the civil war in China is not over yet.

In the Chinese mainland's view, it's a simple case: Taiwan has been part of China de jure after WWII. It's like a new dynasty (communist China) replacing the old one (Kuomintang). The allegation that the Chinese mainland is trying to extend dictatorial power to Taiwan lacks evidence as it is contradictory to the "one country, two system" policy provided by the Chinese mainland.

The Americans only befriended China to establish geopolitical advantage over USSR, because China share 2/3 of their southern border. If you know your history, in the late 50s USSR attempted to make China their satellite state, Mao refused, and they went their own separate ways, not in the best of terms. Richard Nixon saw the opportunity to convince China to join the American side to suppress USSR, and with the support of the authoritative African countries who were getting financial aids from China, voted in China and kicked out Taiwan of the UN seat. Of course, the US at the time didn't anticipate China biting back as soon as that worm grew into a dragon, lol.

Taiwan did not actually return to ROC in 1945. According to General Order No 1. issued on September 2, 1945, a. the senior Japanese commanders and all ground, sea, air and auxiliary forces within China (excluding Manchuria), Formosa and French Indo-China north of 16 north latitude shall “surrender” to Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, that is the reason why ROC can go to Taiwan on October 24, 1945. ⚠️However, it has nothing to do with “transfer of sovereignty.” Otherwise, the ROC can also claim North Vietnam.
In the same order, b. The senior Japanese commanders and all ground, sea, air and auxiliary forces within Manchuria, Korea north of 38 north latitude and Karafuto shall surrender to the Commander in Chief of Soviet Forces in the Far East.
    c. The senior Japanese commanders and all ground, sea, air and auxiliary forces within the Andamans, Nicobars, Burma, Thailand, French Indo-China south of 16 degrees north latitude, Malaya, Borneo, Netherlands Indies, New Guinea, Bismarcks and the Solomons, shall surrender to (the Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia Command or the Commanding General, Australian Forces--the exact breakdown between Mountbatten and the Australians to be arranged between them and the details of this paragraph then prepared by the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers).
    d. The senior Japanese commanders and all ground, sea, air and auxiliary forces in the Japanese Mandated Islands, Ryukyus, Bonins, and other Pacific Islands shall surrender to the Commander in Chief U. S. Pacific Fleet.
    e. The Imperial General Headquarters, its senior commanders, and all ground, sea, air and auxiliary forces in the main islands of Japan, minor islands adjacent thereto, Korea south of 38 north latitude, and the Philippines shall surrender to the Commander in Chief, U. S. Army Forces in the Pacific. ⚠️None of the above mentioned territories were transferred to the US, Soviet Union, or Australia.
The final treaty ended WWII is Treaty of Peace with Japan signed at San Francisco on September 8, 1951.

    (a) Japan recognizing the independence of Korea, renounces all right, title and claim to Korea, including the islands of Quelpart, Port Hamilton and Dagelet.
    (b) Japan renounces all right, title and claim to Formosa and the Pescadores. (⚠️Not transfer to the ROC.)
The right of a people to self-determination is a cardinal principle in modern international law. It states that peoples, based on respect for the principle of equal rights and fair equality of opportunity, have the right to freely choose their sovereignty and international political status with no interference.
Purposes and Principles of the UN (Chapter I of UN Charter) determination of peoples
Article 1 (2) establishes that one of the main purposes of the United Nations, and thus the Security Council, is to develop friendly international relations based on respect for the “principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples”.
It is Taiwaneses’ right to decide their own government. Taiwanese people currently authorize the ROC as their government through voting. However, if they want to change the name of the government, it is their rights to do so. China cannot say anything about it or even worse to commit war crime simply because Taiwan wants to change its governmental name to match with its geographic name, Taiwan and avoid confusion.

Kinmen and Matsu Islands were never ceded to Japan in 1895 by the Treaty of shimonoseki only Taiwan and Penghu. Taiwan only controls those islands because of the Chinese Civil War.

Taiwan’s transfer to ROC was finished with the instrument of surrender of Japan which clearly stated the island would transfer. The 1952 San Francisco treaty changed nothing because the title was transferred to ROC in 1945.

Also Polotical parties are struggling between those two sides.

It is necessary for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and the State Council Information Office to publicly publish the white paper "Taiwan Issue and the Cause of China's Unification in the New Era" after Speaker of the House of Representatives Pelosi visited Taiwan, clearly declaring the basic views and propositions of complete national reunification in the new era. .
The white paper reaffirms that one China is the entire historical and legal basis for resolving the Taiwan issue. The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation has entered an irreversible historical process, and the great cause of national reunification has also entered a new historical position. The reason why the Taiwan issue is closely linked to the cause of China's reunification in the new era is very simple: Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, there is only one China in the world, and the representative of China is the People's Republic of China.
With a history of thousands of years, Chinese civilization has mainly existed in the world as a unified country. During the rare periods of division in Chinese history, various forces competed for the dominance of national unification. Chinese history has only a tradition of unity, not a tradition of division.
Taiwan has never been a country. The only historical record of its entry into China is the "Linhai Land Chronicles" written by Shen Ying, a native of Wu during the Three Kingdoms period. In the future, there will be many continuations of records about Taiwan in Chinese history books. In the Yuan Dynasty, the Penghu Inspection Department began to be established to station in Penghu and pay attention to the governance of Taiwan. Because Quanzhou residents came to Penghu, "household registration was very complicated", so there was a need for the government to intervene. The "Fujian Coastal Defense Map" drawn during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty has marked more than 20 residential areas on Taiwan Island, clearly indicating that Taiwan is an important target of coastal defense in Fujian Province. During the Wanli period, Chen Di accompanied the army to conquer Taiwanese pirates. After returning, he wrote "Dongfan Ji", which recorded the lives of residents on the Taiwan island in detail. Yan Siqi, Zheng Zhilong and others were engaged in maritime trade, based in Taiwan, and began to set up officials in Taiwan to exercise management responsibilities. When the Dutch first occupied southern Taiwan, they also knew that this was Chinese land. Zheng Zhilong's son Zheng Chenggong recovered Taiwan from the Dutch East India Company in 1661. The only reason was that Taiwan was Chinese land. Zheng Chenggong regained Taiwan in the name of "the Ming Dynasty recruits its generals", which shows that he regained Taiwan in the name of China.
During the Qing Dynasty's unification of the country, the rulers of Taiwan during the Ming and Zheng dynasties wanted to "aid Korea" to become independent and rejected the Qing Dynasty's unification measures. After many negotiations failed, that is, the conditions for peaceful reunification were lost, Emperor Kangxi decided to conquer by force. In 1683 Officially included Taiwan in the territory. The reason why the Qing Dynasty unified Taiwan is also very simple: Taiwan is different from North Korea. Taiwan has always been China's land and cannot be allowed to stand on its own. The Qing government set up prefectures and counties in Taiwan for development and management. Since then, people from Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces have poured into Taiwan in large numbers, developing Taiwan and promoting the advancement of Taiwan's productivity. In order to improve Taiwan's national defense status, the Qing government officially upgraded Taiwan from a prefecture in Fujian Province to a province in 1885, which strengthened the governance of Taiwan and helped Taiwan become a more advanced province.
In 1895, due to the defeat of the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War of 1895-1895, the Qing government was forced to cede Taiwan to Japan. Japan has colonized Taiwan for 50 years, and the Taiwanese people have always maintained Chinese cultural traditions. In 1943, China, the United States, and Britain issued the Cairo Declaration, which clearly stated that the purpose of the war was to stop and punish Japan's aggression, and specifically stipulated that "the territories stolen by Japan from China, such as the four northeastern provinces, Taiwan, and the Penghu Islands, shall be returned to China." The Potsdam Declaration of July 1945 fully accepted the positions of the Cairo Declaration. In October 1945, the Chinese government officially took back Taiwan from Japan and announced the liberation of Taiwan. The reason why the Chinese government takes back Taiwan is also because Taiwan is Chinese land that Japan plundered through war. Japan surrendered and Taiwan naturally returned to China. The liberation of Taiwan shows that Taiwan has completed its return of sovereignty and that Taiwan is inseparable from the motherland.
In October 1949, the People's Republic of China was established, and the remaining forces of the Kuomintang retreated to Taiwan. From then on, the legal authority of the government of the Republic of China was severed, and the People's Republic of China inherited the land and people of the Republic of China, just as the Republic of China inherited the land and people of Qing Dynasty China in history. The government succession was completed legally and in compliance with international law. This inheritance not only inherits mainland China, but also includes Taiwan. Taiwan does not have independent sovereignty. Taiwan's sovereignty belongs to China. This position has been affirmed by the United Nations. Resolution 2758 passed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1971 affirmed the basic position of one China, including Taiwan. This position has been accepted by all countries establishing diplomatic relations between China and the United States, the communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, and all countries that have established diplomatic relations with China. This is the basis of international law for China. There are no "two Chinas" in the world, nor is there any "one China, one Taiwan". This is the most unmistakable fact internationally.
The remaining forces of the "National Government" that retreated to Taiwan are in confrontation with the mainland, relying on the support of the United States to resist the Chinese government's governance of Taiwan. Against this background, Taiwan has gradually developed a "Taiwan independence" force. In recent years, the stubborn "Taiwan independence" forces have clung to the thighs of the United States and other countries, rejecting "one country, two systems" and the "1992 Consensus", using the banner of "Taiwan, the Republic of China", and vigorously pursuing "de-Chinaization", promoting it like sausages. The legal measures of "Taiwan independence" refuse to negotiate peacefully with the mainland on the issue of national reunification, and are gradually drifting away from the will to peacefully reunify the country. The party and the country have done everything possible to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification of the country. In 2005, the National People's Congress passed the Anti-Secession Law, which stipulated the conditions for peaceful reunification. If the conditions for peaceful reunification are lost, non-peaceful means will have to be used to complete national reunification. The conditions for peaceful reunification are very clear, which is that Taiwan excludes "Taiwan independence", excludes foreign interference, and excludes unstoppable social unrest. If these three "exclusions" no longer exist, the possibility of peaceful reunification will be lost.
At present, the stubborn "Taiwan independence" forces on the island have not given up the illusion of "Taiwan independence" and rely closely on external anti-China forces. They continue to mobilize international anti-China forces, including US House Speaker Pelosi and Lithuanian politicians to visit Taiwan, causing external forces to interfere in the peaceful reunification. fact. The space for peaceful reunification has been further squeezed by "Taiwan independence" forces. It is completely reasonable and legal for the Chinese government to complete national reunification, and it is fully in line with the wishes of all people (including the people of Taiwan). Historically, the Taiwanese people have always been resolute in their opposition to foreign interference and aggression. As long as all Chinese people, including compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, work together with one heart and one mind, they will surely be able to smash any form of "Taiwan independence" separatist and foreign interference attempts, and they will surely be able to gather the majestic power to promote the reunification of the motherland and national rejuvenation.

Thank you for an outstanding summary of modern China as it relates to Taiwan. Some miscellaneous related points... Atheist communism considers all things belongs to the state. This includes the thing we call a person. So they can use the thing as a slave or cannon fodder. Taiwan, despite the checkered history of the first 20 years after 1949, developed quickly as a leading modern democracy now indispensable to world trade, especially in Semi-conductors. 💪😄

Taiwan and Penghu are leftover issues from World War II. See Treaty of Peace with Japan.
At the time, the U.S. government helped the Chinese Nationalist Party (Republic of China), which had been defeated in the Chinese Civil War, escape to Taiwan, which was then a Japanese colony. Look at Formosa betrayed. Formosa is the original name of Taiwan.
After the Chinese Kuomintang came to Taiwan, it still maintained dictatorial rule, but moved towards democracy under pressure from the United States, and the Taiwanese entered the Republic of China to fight for their rights.
The Chinese who lost their privileges in Taiwan united with the People's Republic of China to steal Taiwan and Penghu.
