- Everything you need to know to visit Taiwan. Taiwan is alot more than just a small crowded island filled with electronics factories fueled by boba tea! Taiwan is also home to high mountain ranges, great beaches and stunning national parks - many with hot springs. To understand Taiwan you have to understand it’s history, which I'll dive in to as well as my usual topics of how to get around, what to eat, where to stay, where to shop, etc.

Concerning food: I think what’s often overlooked is what a superb place Taiwan is for vegetarians - comparable to India
Really liked Taiwan as travel destination. Interesting culture, great nature, friendly people, food so tasty.
I really like this Channel. Chris has a way of introducing other cultures in balance, interesting and knowledgeable.
Thanks so much!
Going to Taiwan in January, so this was great timing.
Great Introduction of Taiwan. Thank You!
Our pleasure!
Excellent guide and new format. Really well done. Need to go back to Taiwan at some point
Thanks Nintendo Wiz!
This was so much fun to watch and incredibly helpful. I'm going to Taiwan in 2 days and a little bit nervous. You've been a big help
Thanks! Enjoy Taiwan!
Awesome video Chris! One thing you did forget is that the beef stew noodles is one of Taiwan's national dishes. It's one of the first things I eat when I visit.
謝謝你在影片一開始就介紹了台灣的歷史🇹🇼❤
Thank you this was helpful for my upcoming trip to Taiwan! It’s impressive you understand Taiwanese history, not very many Americans do…
For fire department and emergency service call number 119; for police call number 110.
Taiwan has very good medical service. Most doctors speak English. Normal treatments will not cost much even you don't have health care here. ER service won't charge too much , either. Don't hesitate to use it if needed.
You just saved my future self a lot of nerves, when you mentioned that I would need different power adapters practically in every other Asian country. Thank you so much
I’m so pumped for my trip to Taipei now! Your videos are so easy to watch and cover the essentials.
I'm so glad!
Thanks a lot i hope you enjoyed it , this video is full of information wow many things I need to know you gave to me , i'm from Morocco btw.
Thanks for the tips! I really need to check out Taiwan one of these days. I really like that you can get to other parts of the island quickly by train!
You should! 😀
I've watched this in every language available. It's universal awesomeness
This was awesome- I learned so much! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Chris, thank you for the informative video. Such a safe country to visit and beautiful people there always willing to give a helping hand.
Couldn't agree more!
Great video. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to Taiwan three times (planning a 4th for early 2025). Your suggestions were spot on … several tips made me smile - especially the fact that most younger people speak English. Used a 6 year old as a translator for his grandparents in a restaurant! I’d encourage anyone looking to visit this wonderful country to follow your recommendations. Only addition I have is cell service. Sim cards are available at any convenience store. However, for just a few bucks more get them at the airport. Airport cell kiosk customer service is very helpful and by getting your phone changed over at the airport it’s easier/quicker to communicate with friends/contacts already in country.
Hah. Love the 6 year old as a translator. Perfect.
Welcome back to Taiwan!
Thanks!
Great vid indeed, thanks for the helpful tips!!!
The history part explained so well.
Hi Chris Thank you for sharing the useful info. Take care.
Thanks James!
If you're here to see why you should watch this video, then stick around. This guy gives straightforward honest feedback I didn't see from other websites or reviews.
Thanks so much Stan!
love your videos! gotta admit that for years I avoided to fly China Airlines cuz I thought it was Chinese, not Taiwanese; especially in 2000s or even 2010s, Chinese products including aviation were viewed not too great. Also the PRC visas required.
謝謝分享;平安喜樂,順心如意。
it was fun!
Great video!
Thanks!
hello from Taiwan , 😊.
Hello!
One of the better tour guides to Taiwan.
Only comment is that driving there really isn’t too bad. People aren’t aggressive for the most part and the police give you a lot of leeway if you’re western. It’s like driving in Italy or Israel without the anger.
Thanks for the tip on driving 😀
✨️🤩👍 - Nice Hawaiian collar shirt.✨️
thank you for explaining that in the beginning. It seems like a lot of people get confused about thai = thailand and taiwan = taiwanese.
Chris! Thank you for all your videos about Taiwan. My parents and us stayed at the Mitsui Garden Hotel because of your recommendation and WE LOVED IT!
I hope to watch your review video for MGH soon. When is it coming out?!
Awesome.. it'll be out sometime between now and Christmas 😀
Wow, I just followed this channel few weeks ago due to the trip to Boston and Newport, then you went to my country, Taiwan!! Yeah! welcome to Taiwan. :D
3:18 like sweet potato🍠
Indeed. A sweet potato is a more specific type of potato 😀
How is the weather sept 30th through to oct 14th?
In future must be joining two states on ground Agreement.
👍
Important question…do they have Toto Japanese toilets?
The Japanese hotel that I stayed in Taipei did! 😀
Wow where did you get that shaved ice?
In a shop on Ximen in Taipei.. I don't remember the name of it
12:10 that’s a totally neat Okayu-style gaming PC there (btw, Nekomata Okayu is a vtuber from hololive)
This may be a silly question. When I hear the word "tea", I think of a caffeinated beverage. I have a layover in Taipei, and I want to try the Boba Tea. But I also want to sleep on the way home. Does Boba Tea have caffeine?
Traditional Boba Tea indeed has tea.. therefore caffeine... but they also have Boba Milk drinks (no tea and no caffeine).. and also fruit teas with no caffeine
14:05 You actually chose to have DCC on your transaction???
Taiwan is Taiwan
Taiwan was part of Qing Dynasty's territory, but ceded to Japan because of Qing's loss of Sino-Japanese War.
And then, Chiang Kai-shek's government took it over after the victory of WW2.
The fact is PRC has NOT ruled Taiwan ever.
Hope everybody know that and not be fooled by Mainland China goverment.
Very cute kid
i love republic of China
you must be pretty dense to confuse thailand and taiwan
Happens all the time
Slight correction: Taiwan is shaped like a sweet potato, not a potato, hence the analogy.
A sweet potato is a type of potato 🥔 😀
@@YellowProductions Yes but they don’t look the same. The photo you showed was a “non sweet” potato. 😂 I pointed it out because potato and sweet potato are not called the same in Mandarin (or in Taiwanese, for that matter). Taiwanese jokingly call ourselves “sweet potato” and the mainland Chinese “taro” - I don’t know the reason though, since the shape of China has zero resemblance to a taro……🤔
Do people seriously confuse Taiwan with Thailand?😂😂 or it’s a joke
Yes. People really confuse the 2
Yes. As a Taiwanese living in Australia, I can confirm it.
I used to confuse them too bc the names are close. Just like how I used to confuse Austria and Australia 😅
@@pogCibi yes. And only one has Kangaroos 😀
Yes
show me some Taiwan
wife is from thehere
Taiwan is not anymore china
You made it very clear, thank you for explaining most of the situations to non-Taiwanese people.
You are right about China's territorial relations. It has managed Taiwan since its democratization and has no intention of taking it back or starting a war. This is not what a modern civilized country would want to do, but there are indeed problems with our constitution, and citizens and The new government will have to resolve the issue of constitutional amendments.
I don't know if the blogger knows that all the cultural relics in Taiwan come from Beijing
They still wearing face masks. Why
習慣😂
Travel tip to Taiwan… a helmet and flack jacket just in case an invasion happens to occur during your vacation
Welcome To Taiwan province(China)🇨🇳
Taiwan is Taiwan, not China! China’s Ah Q-style self-refreshment is ridiculous!
😂😂😂
@@user-oh9bx6sy8q If Taiwan is Taiwan, why Biden says he doesn't support Taiwan independence?
你的認知是錯的
@@user-oh9bx6sy8q Taiwan is not a country.
🇹🇼 = Republic of China = China = It's originally from mainland China.
TAIWAN does not have yet a national flag. In 1895, the Qing Dynasty signed the Treaty of Shimonoseki, permanently ceded Taiwan and Penghu to Japan. Since then, Taiwan and Penghu do not belong to China anymore. During the civil war between the Chinese Kuomintang and the Communist Party. The Chinese Kuomintang, the Republic of China and Chinese refugees fled to Taiwan. Chiang Kai-shek only had temporary trusteeship. The Republic of China is a regime in exile.
