First time I played with Sarevok I gave him Firetooth, becoming essentially a machinegunner. He WRECKED Balthazar with smite, essentially pinned him down to the wall and no matter what he did there was no escape. At other places he easily gunned down any enemy not protected against missiles or magical weapons, notably the drow. Mind you critical hit and whirlwind strike were essential for the strat and this was without SCS, but still, he was very impressive.
Yea fighters have always been solid archers and fire tooth is absolutely amazing. Bonus apr with strength to damage on a pure fighter like jesus man. Its why kensai thrower is so busted, thief dual even. You got the quintessential range dps with all thief utility.
@@lolmatt9 that's an animation meme. Also in icewind dale throwing knives including returning didnt give apr bonus. It's a thing exclusive to baldurs gate.
Optimal would be not wearing the ring of invisibility and instead pausing and switching it in when needed. But I imagine daveorn needs to minimise pauses as a caster. Must make for some interesting tactics
Its funny that all best fighter gear is stuff that turns him into a dual class into mage. Honestly i like this sort of balance where fighter is amazing early then overtaken by mage. Its very realistic cuz theres no way a wizard doesnt outscale a non wizard in real life. The best he can do is strike before the wizard casts which makes thief the sort of soft check with a stealth backstab. Pathfinder wasnt fun how all the best builds are pure fighters. Obviously baldurs gate fighters have the most damage per round but wizards become immortal. Its more fun to have magic scaling as opposes to linear. Magic is by definition infinite and limitless. Sure its bad balance for a pvp game but its fun in solo game, and balanced by the limitation on single target damage and the limit to casting per day/mp. Everything works great with infinity engine
You can imagine fighters being more epic over longer time periods. In setting you wouldn't expect to rest in dungeons. Plus enchanted gear can stand up to spells and duplicate abilities.
@@lolmatt9 yea true. Baldurs gate let you rest whenever so you're never gutted for spells. Even then a lot of the general buffs last a long time. Only spells like spell immunity are short duration and have to be pre buff before a boss. Either way its definitely cool the idea of mages rationing spells for necessity as a counter balance.
If you survive the encounter. Yes. 😮 Even more impressive is the ring that doubles first and second level spell slots. That turns your PC wildmage or Neera ( 🤮 ) into a WMD. 🤯🤯🤯
D, have you played with Improved NPC customisation and management (BGEE,BG2EE,EET)? Because Saravok would make a stupidly awesome Barbarian. Barbarian Rage would make him terrifying in melee combat, and would cover just about everything he's lacking in. Even if you don't choose to use this component for the rest of your party, Saravok, with his XP deficiency would be ideal for this. 😈
Abishai non only spoken but also written as Abashi has to be my favourite running joke of this absolute Big Metal Unit
this winter im delving back in baldurs gate

sounds amazing! I never used him for ranged combat, but I def gonna try

I never understood how returning throwing daggers worked with lots of Apr. The fighter is throwing them again before it returns

"This is not optimal in any shape or form" Proceeds to describe how the gear is optimal for the next 20 seconds.

Dual class him to thief, spend ten years killing fire giants, then give him Carsomyr.
Where is the Abashi hide from? Is that the Chosen of Cyric thing? Because I have *never* found it, and I couldn't even find it on the wiki.

Who duals him to mage?
or just bring your lv.8 fighter with a longbow and quite forever
