      Nick, I really don’t want you to quit powerlifting now. You can balance powerlifting and running, plus you need to be able to run a 5 minute mile and a do 500 pound deadlift at the same time at some point. Plus, I really want to see you get even stronger in the gym. I say limit your CrossFit training if you still want to balance powerlifting and running.

    • @ari7gam77

    That was MONEY!!!!! I have been lifting for seven years now and to see the massive weights you're hitting without even having perfect technical form is really exciting. If you were to work with a powerlifting coach on the bench and squat you would blast your previous PR's out of the water, your deadlift is already killer though. Awesome job so inspiring

    This is awesome. I'd love a power lifting 5K event where every pound you lift from the three lifts is subtracted from your 5K time in seconds to determine a score. Lowest score wins.

    • @carsonutley4134
      @carsonutley4134 2 роки тому

      The thin with that is the times we would so low. An 19 min 5k would be 1090 seconds. So from what Nick Did today 1100 would be a time of 80 second's.

    • @mikemuday
      @mikemuday 2 роки тому +3

      Yeah, people like Nick Symmonds, Ryan Hall, Hunter McIntyre would probably achieve negative numbers, but still, lowest score wins! A normal person would probably have a tough time hitting net zero, but what a goal!

      You have to eat hard too.
      Try to get down the equivalent of 1 lb of chicken a day plus eggs. You're going to need 150 g to 200 g of protein a day. 150 g is the equivalent of a pound of beef plus a quart of milk Plus some cheese.
      Good market quality cheese will have 7-8 protein per ounce. Milk will have a little bit more per cup.
      Tuna is getting a bit expensive, but that's pretty good too.
      If you do not feed properly, don't expect big gains from a program.
      When I started eating 250g protein a day, I developed a 80 lb increase in 3 months to my deadlift. And the training program I was using for back strength was just Arnold Schwarzenegger's off-season workout. It was only 20 sets per workout twice a week for back

      hi! i am no where near a pro at this topic, but i don’t think you would, in fact i think you would get slower! to be a power lifter you need to bulk, where as in running it is best, and easiest if you are smaller. if you lift some, it can help you. running involves all muscle groups! but you don’t wanna do too much (cuz of bulking) or you could slow your 5k time and make you a slower XC runner. again i am not super knowledgeable so please correct me if i’m wrong but that’s what i think!
