Unlike PC's, you Can not swap parts between apple devices, even if they are identical devices.
Each piece of hardware has its own hardware ID, even the microphone, speaker, everything. When a system is complete, all those part ID numbers are programed into the BIOS of the machine.
If any of those parts change, it will no longer match the BIOS, and it will not function property if at all.
There is a device that reprograms the BIOS to the new Hardware IDS, if anything was changed. Good luck finding one, and good luck affording it if you do.

Im Ukrainian living last 8 month in States. I will tell you more: it looks like every second car on the roads in Ukraine right now, brought from US after incident here. there are companies which give you full service and help you to bid, ship, custom clear and rebuild a car for very low comission. Any vehicle actually, not only teslas. My personal example. Ford Mustang purchased on AAA insurance auction for 4K. Delivery to Ukraine + Taxes + repair cost another 8K. so total 12K for a decent car. Teslas are extremely attractive because cost of electricity in Ukraine used to be super cheap (we have nuclear) but gas more expensive than in US (we dont have big oil) - that is why teslas gained big popularity in Ukraine.

    • @tazz2070
      @tazz2070 Місяць тому +28

The issue is not the being shipped to and insured in Ukraine part that will cause the increase in US or other western countries insurance. That whole part is an amusing side story.
It’s because instead of the insurance company paying a few thousand to repair the equivalent of minor to moderate damage on a gas vehicle they will just more likely default to declaring the car totalled and paying out the insurer the cost of a brand new EV instead. This as Scotty stated in the video is mostly due to lack of technicians and higher safety standards as most technicians probably don’t want to touch a fairly complex and volatile piece of equipment that if it then breaks or catches fire after it was “fixed” it would cost a lot over all.
This costs the insurance company a lot more at the end of the day on average in comparison and so the short term solution will be to hike up insurance prices.

Ukrainians are WICKED amazing mechanics. I fell in love with a Ukrainian woman (although I was gong to marry a Polka).
They fix nearly ANYTHING. My watch was broken and one of them fixed it. They have "nixie tubes" (look that up). I get dental work done there, with German equipment for a fraction of the price in the states. I got a full implant done for about $600. They fix cars that others write off as dead. I get my eyeglasses done there. I go to visit relatives but spend about half the time getting stuff (including on myself, personally) repaired.

Many of the cars that Arthur works on are from US insurance actions, and many still have the auction website inventory numbers written on the windshield when they start working on them overseas. The more the insurance company is able to recoup from the sale of the vehicle, the lower the "total loss amount", which in a perfect world helps with their bottom line, helping keep down premiums.

Honestly, if I didn't have a mortgage I'd rather stick the money in a savings account should something happen, and if it doesn't happen, I still have my money. Unfortunately homeowners is required if you pay a mortgage, and car insurance is mandatory if you drive. Statistically though, they claim 1/3 of drivers in FL don't have car insurance. If I don't pay for uninsured motorist, and someone hits me who doesn't have insurance, I have to pay? How is that fair? I could take them to court, but if they don't have money to pay for insurance, they probably don't have enough money to pay me. Insurance, what a rip off.

    • @Keaton0801

Yeah, but the majority of the American People don’t believe Taiwan is a part of China. According to the American Founding Fathers, that means that Taiwan is an independent nation according to the United States, regardless of what the State Department says. If you’re wondering where I got that information from, then I got it from the U.S. constitution. It’s the very first sentence, “We The People.” Therefore if the American People formed the government by establishing the constitution, then the people can also say Taiwan is an independent nation, regardless of what the U.S. government says. The people have spoken, therefore Taiwan is an independent nation, and the state department can shove it up where the sun don’t shine.

Since MAGA/Trump are Russian sympathizers and traitors, anything could happen. This is why MAGA voted to cut off funding for Ukraine. Russia is using the racists and religious extremists from within to destroy the USA. Their goal is to bring authoritarianism to the USA over time including media censorship.

I think people are really stupid on what they live with totally not totaled. I got in a wreck in the sheriff guy just tried telling me it's totaled and I can't drive it home. Even though I was totally capable of driving it home he kept trying to call a tow truck I mean I told him I'm just going to drive it to my house. And he said it's totaled you're in the middle of downtown. And then he asked if I have a preference on a tow truck. However the city cops came and he left. He had a devil that was telling him to sit there and fight me. I told the city cops it can drive just fine I'm just going to drive it to my house. And they said that's fine. I literally just drove it to my house. He wanted to call a tow truck and hold up traffic and make it a whole big expensive thing when I could have just drove it to my house. He said that it's totaled. Total just means that the cost of repairing the car is going to be more than what the cars worth. That's all told means. And he just assumed that because it was in a wreck that means I can't drive it to my house and he has to call a tow truck and he claims it's because I'm in downtown and there's traffic. Well if I'm in downtown and the traffic that means I should probably just drive it to my house and not call a tow truck. That guy was an imbecile

A Chinese invasion of Taiwan would severely curtail chip production, which would not only affect new car production, but replacement computer parts as well. You'd see a severe increase in new and used car prices. There is a simple solution, but it would involve government at least temporarily stepping back from CAFE standards. The main reason for the computers in cars is to eke out every last mpg in order to meet ever more stringent CAFE standards. If the government at least temporarily curtailed CAFE standards, simpler pre 70's design engines that used NO computers or chips could be manufactured. The old VW bug/bus engines were very simple and would work well for small compact cars.
This would never happen as the government is intractable and doesn't care if people can't afford cars. There are even some people who would see this as a net positive.

There's an episode of Mayday of a plane crashing from cellphone batteries. They developed specialized shipping containers to stop fire. EVs and batteries on ships probably are in the same type of specialized container to stop fire

Could it be that the US car was stripped down and the useable parts sold? Then perhaps some of those parts ended up in a car in the Ukraine? Ya know, parts that would still be connected to the US app when switched on?
Just maybe the car on the Ukrainian auction site was....... A lightly damaged Canadian car, that used the US's Tesla's original parts to repair it.

I'm Ukrainian who imported gasoline car from US, it's very common practice here because:
    1) Most people here don't have money to buy a new car, this results in very expensive used cars relative to Europe and US.
    2) Very high taxes and duties for importing OLD used cars, even if it costs $3000 abroad it can become $8000 in Ukraine
    3) Buying relatively new crahsed car for a low price you avoid paying so much taxes and duties, or avoid them completely with EV
    4) It's way more cheaper to repair a car in Ukraine, labour costs are way lower than in US.
