Yes please do Oscar. Made me feel better when you highlighted in this video how many "Man Hours" it would have taken if it was just 1 person completing the detail. I've only got about 18 cars under my belt as a small business owner and still feel like I'm too slow. I mean I am very methodical and meticulous and the customer ALWAYS gets their money's worth with me, but it would definitely help to hear a breakdown of sorts for different level detail services. Thank You Bro!! You've helped me more than you know since I started my business 1 and 1/2 months ago! Deeply Grateful for the mentor-ship I'm able to receive with you guys leading the way on UA-cam.
Nice bro have you ever had a problem with seats/upholstery carpet smelling bad after shampooing ? Came across this problem myself . I'm just starting and plan to make it right for them but any tips or tricks on this that could help ?

I tried detailing by myself, but I quit because I didn't know jack about the business. I got a couple of clients, but not enough. If where not married at the time, I would have keep on going. But bills need to get paid. Plus I live in san Diego everything is expensive. I ran out of money. So I got a job. I always wondered how I would have been doing, if I had let the ball roll a little bit longer. I'm a car guy, and I actually enjoy detailing. Great videos bro, keep grining
Definitely would recommend trying again, man. I quit my job 6 months ago and am doubling my income. Best way to find customers is paid Instagram ads! Make a business page on Instagram and pay for promotions. I spend 100-200 a week on ads and it brings in a great return!

I liked this format for your video. I enjoyed the "follow along for a day" idea. Most detailing channels show one car and how they clean them. This showed several cars and how you had to keep to a schedule while maintaining a high quality product. Maybe have a clock to show the estimated vs actual time for each job.
Yo bro I started watching your videos and the anxiety started drifting away from starting my own business, it felt like I did the training already here and some months later here I am chillin already comfortable and doing details here and there aside from washes. The details are getting me recommended tho so I must be doing alright. Anyways just here to say good stuff man and all of us here in the comment section appreciate your knowledge and guidelines.
Oscar, I would love to see a video where you break down your 2 person team process for detailing. Thank you for all of the great videos and information to help all of us grow our business.
Now I don't recommend this for everybody but when I started detailing cars I went to junk yards to improve my skills. I would ask the manager or the owner if I could detail his junk cars. If you screw up on one of these he won't have a client screaming what the hell did you do to my car. After a year the junkyard looks like shiny broken cars. I only did this about one day a week to try out new techniques/ideas.
2 guys detailing a car in 2 hours = 4 hours total time. I'm a one person mobile detailer and even if I work fast a complete basic detail takes me 4 to 5 hours.
Basic detail as in Express right? That's similar to my times. I feel a little bit better now knowing my operating times aren't too far off from most other detailers. I've been getting anxious toward the last 1/4 or so of my details because I begin the mental checklist of steps that still need to be completed and I start to feel like I'm taking too long. I'm sure it's mostly in my head, but I do have a tendency at times to hyperfocus on various areas (i.e. a piece of lint under a seat) when nobody but me is really going to see or notice it, and customers almost Always express surprise that it took me as long as it did. I guess it's just a matter of us detailers actually knowing the true extent of work required to get exceptional results. I'm getting more efficient in my own right, but a deep clean interior on a sedan or midrange will take me 4.5 - 6 hours. Wasn't sure if this fell within a typical range, but my earned hourly rate is still on point, so I guess It's ok lol. Last week though, I took on my first Extremely Filthy, down right shameful deep interior clean, and it took me 8 hours before I was packing up my stuff to leave. Then the other day I finished an express detail (wash, wheels, spray wax, glass, door jams, interior vacuum, wipedown, and some mud and pet hair) of a mid-range and got done in 3 hours. So, I guess I can equate it largely to becoming more comfortable with my own pace and efficiency as I gain more experience with each job. It also behooves me to gain an understanding of what the client's main concerns are, and the focal points that they will most likely be focused on, and quite possibly inspect, when the detail is complete.
@@Erik-gs4nfYes I feel your pain here Erik. I'm a bit OCD so if I see something that needs to be cleaned or corrected I take it on myself to do it for the customer. It's something I shouldn't do but I can't help it. I took on a 2015 Black Chevy Silverado this past weekend for an exterior wash and wax and interior shampoo of the seats, the car was so dirty I just did everything couldn't help it LOL. What I usually do is I add an hour to what I think it's going to take this way the customer is not waiting on the car and if I get to that point in time I call the client and let them know it's either going to be less time or more time. Basically I only schedule one car a day this way I don't have to worry about going over or not having enough time to complete a job. Like I said for the express Wash Wax and interior 4 to 5 hours is where I wind up just about every time.
I started my mobile detailing business and right now my husband helps me when he gets off of work! My customers have told me that my prices are too low for the work done. I appreciate your advice Oscar. Love the channel
It's funny you say that, one of my first customers, who ended up giving me 3 cars to detail, cut the check after the first day for like 30-40 dollars more than I quoted. Obviously a tip, but he exclaimed that it's what I should be charging as the starting cost, given the quality of results and the display of nonstop hustle until the job was fully completed. Gotta love Customers who understand the inherent value of a full detail.
Yeah i just went up on my prices. Even with a basic wash Im detailing pr removing this or that so. You will see. Especially see how you average on tips you receive each job and raise price to that. If you by yourself
I detailed a ford transit in 5 hours total this weekend. Total clean, really clean. And put on sealant. Made 3 minor mistakes in approach. If done different then i would have finished in 4 hours. (Dealer client, not retail)
5H is what it takes me to do a full interior. You are younger than me and there are two of you allowing you to work harder... no problem doing that in 5 hours.
Thats because the helper is expecting something to go wrong and doesnt have the experience to know what youre primarily gonna use, compared to the other guy who has the experience and knowledge and confidence of using the necessary tools.
Detail Groove I’m sure you were charging $200 for a wash and wax when you first got started right. And why didn’t you clean the top of the corvette it didn’t show on the video?
He’s basically describing a process to greatly reduce prep and wait time between stages by having two people work on different stages SIMULTANEOUSLY. Steps in detailing has to happen in a linear fashion where one step is dependent on a prior step (for example you can’t extract dirt effectively out of a carpet until you thoroughly soak and agitate). So your carpet cleaning can be reduce greatly with two people bc while one person is working on finishing up extraction on one carpet section, the other person is simultaneously starting the soaking and agitation process on the next carpet section. So in essence, steps 1, 2, (and 3) are being worked on simultaneously. It’s the same process applied to increased productivity in a production line where multiple people are working on different stages of building a car (or in this case, multiple cars at the same time).
Get a rechargeable blower, it will be much more compact with plenty of power, no cords to worry about and hassle with, will save you just that much more time, space and work.
We've thought about it. Then we have to carry multiple chargers and make sure they're always fully charged. I carry 4 dewalt batteries for my drill. It works great but when all 4 are drained, it's a bit annoying charging all of them. Pros and cons to each
my advice to people...if you want something done right...do it youself. why pay someone else if they going to cut corners. take pride in the work you learn.

Because we finish a car fast, that means we skipped steps and are providing inferior results to someone that takes double the time? Even though we are 2 people and setup for maximum efficiency? Riiiiight
It's an extractor. You press a button and clean water comes out of a tiny hole at the same time the extractor sucks up the dirty water from the fabric. The process is repeated until the water thats getting sucked up looks clear and clean, thats how you know the fabric is also clean.
I'm lost. You guys charged $200 to pressure wash and then foam cannon a corvette, wipe the soap with micro towels, and then dry it and do a spray wax and not a hand wax? no wheel cleaning with a brush or a tire gel? Or maybe i missed something when the SD card stopped?

$260 for 2 hour job with two people...Per hour that would be great, but driving to and from a job site, paying for staff hours, equipment & material costs, driving to and from each job, possibly bonding costs or expenses in rare instances a job accrues a mistake that you need to cover...It's hard to see how such a business is able to pay the owner of the business very much while also paying off expensive equipment and creating continual profits or at least a healthy salary.

Yes u right cuz I work 1 man work and takes 4 hours the same job, suck be a solo man.

Yes I paused...I think you will finish on time...because you have a set time and you will clean accordingly

I provided absolutely nothing and no prep! Oscar and Lex did an amazing job, on my nasty ass car.
Christian Colaceci did they have a pump and a water tank?
They connect to owners tap but use their own equipment which includes generator.
What extractor do you use for the carpet and seat cleaning
I always see you using towers instead of a wash mitt , is their a reason why ? Just curious trying to learn more about the detailing buisness .

what type of vacuum is that at 7:57? is it mixing water with the fabric before sucking out the dirt?
It's an extractor. You press a button and clean water comes out of a tiny hole at the same time the extractor sucks up the dirty water from the fabric. The process is repeated until the water thats getting sucked up looks clear and clean, thats how you know the fabric is also clean.

What brand of extractor you using
Aqua Pro Vac
What do you use for leather seats?
Super Clean 10:1 👌🏽
I'm lost. You guys charged $200 to pressure wash and then foam cannon a corvette, wipe the soap with micro towels, and then dry it and do a spray wax and not a hand wax? no wheel cleaning with a brush or a tire gel? Or maybe i missed something when the SD card stopped?
Oh okay I see the clay bar part was missed. Idk, did you guys do a 2 bucket method? grit guard or anything?
I covered this in a recent video. These videos aren't meant to document every single last step. Its education + entertainment
Detail Groove i know, i'm asking if you guys do use those in your service or if you charge without those things
How much do you pay ur employee. Is it a set price for each service?
Free lunch
just sandwich & coke :)
I would think that they would split it equally
I pay mine no attention
Jay Chowdree why ? When Oscar is the one who owns everything owns the business buys the product and pays all the overhead .. why split 50-50 ?
You say "full" interior cleaning. Is there a "basic" interior cleaning?
We have a full and a mini
@@DetailGroove whats the price on your mini and what does it include?
Can you please give me some info about your machine !! Where I can find ?? Your video is amazing..

What hose do you use ?? Where can I buy it??
