How many people that worked on New Vegas are still at Obsidian anyway? You've heard the stories. The best first person RPG, lying in the middle of weaker games. Playing it, that's not the hard part. It's letting go.
I would take literally only added content. The DLC is perfect for me, I wouldn't want anything extra apart from what would have been in if time permitted.
Some cut stuff would be nice, but not everything. Having stuff for the sake of having it, isn't so good, it can just bloat the game, or it doesn't fit, or they couldn't fix it, or it ruins story...so it goes. Sometimes it can be the reverse of that, but that is the dilemma of creating a videogame. Development has to end somewhere otherwise, when does it end? So you throw stuff out for one reason or another. Having all cut content would break it....even more, I know this is Fallout we are talking about here.
@@Gamer-ry6xy No they didn't. They offered a bonus if a certain score was achieved by a certain time. Obsidian tried meeting it but failed. It was Obsidians decision alone to release Fallout New Vegas as a broken unfinished product to try and get that bonus. Chris Avellone says as much.
@@Psychonautical89 No, there's multiple cases of major faction functions for The Followers being cut, odds are they were the 5th ending. The BoS were minor faction from the start much like Fallout 1 thanks to their severe losses across Nevada.

I've been playing the DLC's and major quest mods as my postgame with FPGE, and it really makes the " epic battle" at Hoover Dam fit in better as a midpoint in a greater overarching saga.
This video actually hurts, I love fnv so much, world changing post game content like this would have been so amazing, truly is a damn shame it was all cut.
I would not dare ask those guys to do extra work like restoring post game content as that would require probably bunch of new dialogue that they would need to voice and just would have to come up with there own ideas of what it would look like as its kinda vague
May not necessarily be a good idea. The developers of FNV have gone on record saying that some of the cut content is because they run out of time, but some of it is stuff they ended up not liking and so they actively chose to remove it from the finished game. If we think of a game during development time as the draft for a novel, some of it HAS to be removed to improve the quality of the final result.
nah, i'd rather leave up to modders of F4NV. let them get the core game out, then other people can try implement changes. and kokeshi is right. not all of it was cut because of time. a lot of it was cut because it wasn't good enough. NV is a steak with most of the fat trimmed off. adding the fat back in doesn't make the steak better, it makes it worse.
from the F4NV FAQ Q: "Will you be adding cut content?" A: Maybe. Some content is more labor-intensive than other bits, and so we'll likely be adding it as we go along, depending on how much effort we find the content actually is to add to the game
Actually I’m pretty sure the fifth ending is just the second variation of the legion ending (the two variations being where Caesar is alive, and the other being when Lanius has control of the legion)
@@MasterGordon5115 Yes, but both legion endings have very different outcomes for some areas, so likely this “fifth ending” in the code was likely just distinguishing between the two scenarios.
@45-70 Gov't Followers are pretty closely aligned with Benny, they had the ability to hack yes man and were probably pretty well liked by the people of the Mojave. Imo, with Courier backing Followers would make a good degree of sense.
Could of been a peaceful ending, with Caesar once being a follower and his respect for them and the factions links to New California, maybe some sort of diplomatic solution could of unfolded between the legion and NCR. Dead Money was already in the works before New Vegas’ release, so the fifth ending could be the Elijah ending, although walking through a very dead world might not be all that fun
Wonder if you’ll be doing the dlc as well. I always wondered if honest hearts has cut content since there is no option to help the white legs. I mean if you play a legion character you want to help the white legs.
That dlc always seemed a bit empty to me though I loved the rain, fresh water (tho not sure how thatd be explained) and reading those journals from that one survivor. His story was so sad.
Yeah I would have changed quite a lot to make the story better. The intro cutscene sets up the people of new Canaan but then tells you that they evacuated earlier which is disappointing. I would have changed the beginning to have you and the caravan in the middle of a battle between the white legs and the dead horses and during the battle you follow a white leg tribal or follows chalk. Which faction you follow is the one you side with. I also would have put the new canaanites in the dlc but to do that would require expanding the map a bit and changing the story to accommodate them. It’s hard but the hard work would have made honest hearts a better dlc
As for the caravan they would survive if you chose to go with follows chalk and they would probably become merchants till the end of the dlc. One of the quests they give is to set up a trade deal with new Canaan and the dead horses and sorrows since that’s the whole reason they came in the first place. If you went with the white legs however, you would be forced to kill them eventually since you are in the way of them trading with new Canaan but if your speech skill was high enough you could intimidate them into leaving peacefully
I meant got so many ideas on improving new Vegas. If I was a modder I would put it into the game. I probably have over 100 quest ideas for the game like powder hanger quests where you help the doctor learn to treat addiction and rads which was cut or help them take over primm which was probably another way to settle the quest my kind of town. I would have even allowed them to fight with you in the second battle of Hoover dam. If you got them to side with house, then he would reward them by making them the 4th family of vagas. If you somehow convinced them to help the nice them they would get pardons. If with the legion then they would betray them and all the powder hangers would be dead. If independent, they would terrorize the Mojave for years.
It’s also quite obvious that the fiends were supposed to be a faction with reputation but they ran out of time. Their quests would have been taking over outer Vegas and cam mccarren. One of the quests I would have put was helping cook cook poison the ncr food supply since they are having trouble with food in the game and cook cook being good with food would know how to poison them. This had the effect of lowering the ncr health to make it easier to kill them when you attack. The second cook cook quest would be to kidnap Betsy so you can use her as bait to lure first recon onto ambush and kill them, further weakening the camp. I also would have a quest where you plant bombs in the sewers so when you attack you can create holes in the ground where fiends can come out of so they don’t all appear from one spot and get destroyed. Driver Nephi would have you do quests to take over free side like kill mean son of a bitch or make an alliance with the scorpions gang for backup in the assault on west side. Violets quests would be harder since she’s the craziest of the fiends. She probably would be dealing with the ncr dogs in the camp. Finally before the assault motor runner would tell you they received a message from the spy in the camp for you to meet them and you would do the quest I put a spell on you. After that Curtis would help hsu escape the camp when you attack and retreat to Hoover dam where he could sabotage it from the inside which means more quests at Hoover dam. That’s what I would have done with the fiends
I’d I had to guess what the “Fifth ending” was, I’m assuming it was working with Benny. However I imagine it was cut because it was too similar to both Mr House and Yes Man
Which is a damn shame, because Benny is hilarious and has a really interesting backstory, and you could easily argue that his plans for New Vegas were the best (freedom from both Legion & NCR, but without Mr. House's overly strict Big Brother-style leadership). Add in the fact that ruling alongside a Loki-type character is far more entertaining than doing it on your own or with the "partnership" of a robot who literally can't ever say no. Plus he has "Pet The Dog" moments that show that is is not irredeemable (there are two routes at The Tops where he lets you go unharmed instead of sending assassins after you, plus he leaves Emily Ortal alone even though she is a dangerous witness who could tell his plans to House), so there was the potential for a villain's redemption arc too, and those are always fun. I 100% would have chosen to side with Benny if I had been allowed to.
I loved this video, it was very interesting to learn about what Obsidian had planned for post game content. It's a shame that they didn't get a chance to finish it. One small correct, though. At 9:21, you mentioned that the player is forced to kill the Brotherhood for the NCR or Caesars' Legion. Now, while this true for the Caesars' Legion campaign, it isn't true for the NCR quest line. With the NCR, the player is given the choice to integrate the Brotherhood of Steel with the NCR. The option is easily missed because the game doesn't tell you that this is an option, unless the player had some foresight to tell Father Elijah about it.
I wonder if the Fallout 4 New Vegas remake mod will include all the cut content from the original New Vegas? Can someone, please tell me if they are doing that or not?
Not even worth speculating as being possible. It's not even like TTW where they were able to include all the cut content from Fallout 3 for NV going there, the engine was unchanged
One of the most fascinating episodes yet I think. Also Yes Man's dialog is super f***** ominous. All but saying I'll be back terminator style. He tooooootallly won't betray you. *wink.
@@jonh5941 well, you literally got him in the position of power he is right now. He owes you. The only thing that would tarnish that is if you kept making bad choices. (This isn't including the interview where a developer said that when Yes Man became "assertive", he made it so that he could only follow the Courier's orders.)
@@Lance-The-BoS-Lancer I dunno, sounded to me like he was implying he was turning himself into a SHODAN. Just in a very Yes Man way. Guess they left it open to interpretation on purpose.
Aye I caught a fresh one! Keep em coming man, you're videos ooze charm a style. Do you have any have any planns to do other Bethesda games, like fallout 3 cut content in your unique format?
Had they been given 3 or 4 years instead of a YEAR and some change, New Vegas would’ve been an entirely different game than what we got. Even as a rushed game, it still remains as the most popular among fans.
I think the fifth ending is in reference to if one sided with Yes Man and whether or not they destroyed the bunker. Considering the stark differences in outcomes based on that lone decision, the post-endgame world would likely require a whole separate state.
I think the 5th ending could be like a alternate yes man ending where the courier decided to make all the destructive choices Basically serving as "killed every one" ending
Possible the fifth ending had to do with the Followers of the Apocalypse, since it was once possible to give them the Platinum Chip. Also, the cut lines regarding the Legion potentially occupying the Strip in the event of their victory, it could just be that the Legion has come to the Strip, but that they haven't enacted any major changes yet, though the characters expect they'll come. This would allow the Strip to remain for the most part unchanged in all ending scenarios
5:44 You talk about different post game start locations, but then quote Sawyer saying that the location wouldn't change, the NCR memorial would just change depends on the player's faction choice.
I think the fifth ending has to do with father Eliijah. In dead money if you have maximum negative karma with the NCR and do the right things/pick the right dialogue you can help him spread the cloud to the mojave and take over basically.
This would've been such a huge amount of content if it went ahead. The families of the strip didn't get ending slides but instead you'd see what happened to them first hand after the battle
Yup. Smart of them to account for future unimplemented features (like the Elijah ending). In addition to the DLC's core files like maps, it adds a new VStoryState to the base build's conditional endings. Smart code design 101 👌
imagine if this game is remastered and these additions are able to be put in, as the main selling point of the remaster along with more stability and better graphics, gameplay, etc
If you manage to kill every brotherhood member (excluding Veronica) without being detected (and therefore not losing reputation) AND ending the game with either the legion or Mr House (and I am also pretty sure you can't make an NCR-Brotherhood alliance for this to work) you can actually get the "Brotherhood takes Helios One" ending slide on the current release.

I swear I cry a little bit inside everytime I see the amazing content and ideas that was cut from the game
*2 more years*
*that’s all the would’ve needed*
@@Gamer-ry6xy No they didn't. They offered a bonus if a certain score was achieved by a certain time. Obsidian tried meeting it but failed. It was Obsidians decision alone to release Fallout New Vegas as a broken unfinished product to try and get that bonus. Chris Avellone says as much.
Fifth ending probably had something to do with the cut followers stuff
More likely Brotherhood, Elijah, or possibly even Ulysses than the Followers I think.
@@Psychonautical89 No, there's multiple cases of major faction functions for The Followers being cut, odds are they were the 5th ending. The BoS were minor faction from the start much like Fallout 1 thanks to their severe losses across Nevada.
it's the fantastic-i mean spectacular ending.
@@KiraSlith No, the 5th ending was the Legion ending with Caesar dying during the operation and Lanius becoming the new Caesar. The Followers being a major faction was cut long before Obsidian finalized the story.
I think the 5th ending was to destroy the three factions, like in Independent ending, but also destroying the dam
If I remember correctly in the files the followers of the apocalypse are listed as a major faction the fifth ending is probably that.
That seems like the most likely 5th ending to me as well. Theres actually a section in the official guide that seems to reference their questline.
@ayy lmao they already have a major pro and a con , it feels like the only reason they don't have an ending and more presence is time.
Well FNV in particular is so complex that i prefear to leave the end to our imagination
Agreed.
It's clear this game was rushed with lots of content left out it also has a very small world map which wasn't meant to be the case.
and its still the best Fallout game to date, Bethesda only wish they could make a game as good as Obsidian

@@trouslinabone Can you explain? I didn’t do the legion playthrough yet
I hope F4NV is taking notes.
If I remember correctly they are doing some of the cut content I could be wrong tho
NV is a steak with most of the fat trimmed off. adding the fat back in doesn't make the steak better, it makes it worse.
from the F4NV FAQ
Q: "Will you be adding cut content?"
A: Maybe.
Both of them are counted as Legion ending tho
@@MasterGordon5115
Yes, but both legion endings have very different outcomes for some areas, so likely this “fifth ending” in the code was likely just distinguishing between the two scenarios.

I think the 5th ending was probably the Followers of the apocalypse ending, but who knows
Or maybe the followers joined with the brotherhood to take the dam by force for the technology uno
It was the ending for joining Elijah. The singular add-on ending.

Maybe the 5th ending could have been the ending where you take over the Mojave with Father Elijah after Dead Money
@Nagger true but I was just giving a suggestion, I mean they already had Veronica's lines for dead money in the game before dead money released so I mean maybe they had it in mind but still probably not.

Or maybe killing everybody in the game

Are you ever planning on doing a video on the cut content of New Vegas’s DLC’s, if there is any? That’s something I’d like to see.
These videos are like a train wreck in slow motion. It makes me so sad to listen to everything we missed out on, but at the same time, I can't stop watching every minute of them!
My guess is the 5th ending would be siding with the Followers of the Apocalypse given their importance as a faction before having it cut down.
Never forget, they made this game in 18 months.
Really feels like there's more cut content than content!
Glad we get to see it though, thanks.
The 5th ending could've been the cloud ending of dead money.
Always so impressed how fantastic your videos are! You’re awesome!
This is my favorite game. Please keep posting fnv cut content and hopefully this gem gets a remaster minus the time limit so we the gamers win
20:50 Yes Man still says this in the final game
I may not have explained that in a way that makes sense. I was playing those lines as a point of reference, not because they were cut.
@@TriangleCity Oh okay I understand. Great video and series nonetheless (thank you for responding too).
Honestly hearing about how much was cut from this game and it still being great is amazing
I honestly would have no problem with them updating their games to add in post game content after release with other releases in the future.
20:06 damn, the whole Yes man monologue with the lofi music in the background really hit me in the feels somehow
5th ending is probably when dam gets heavily damaged and none of the sides can use it
I loved this video, it was very interesting to learn about what Obsidian had planned for post game content.
No other than very small cut content changes, they're keeping it as to the original as possible.

He won't betray you if you weren't an idiot. Like if you blew up the Securitron bunker or ignoring the other factions.

Aye I caught a fresh one! Keep em coming man, you're videos ooze charm a style.
Do you have any have any planns to do other Bethesda games, like fallout 3 cut content in your unique format?
Although I know for a fact that few would've had as much cut content cut out as New Vegas, do to Obsidian's time constraints.
Had they been given 3 or 4 years instead of a YEAR and some change, New Vegas would’ve been an entirely different game than what we got. Even as a rushed game, it still remains as the most popular among fans.
I recall there being some statements that one of the endings was simply to leave the Mojave, that could potentially have been the fifth ending.
By the audio / radio, I'd say ending #5 was a "failed to take over" ending.
I think the fifth ending is in reference to if one sided with Yes Man and whether or not they destroyed the bunker. Considering the stark differences in outcomes based on that lone decision, the post-endgame world would likely require a whole separate state.
I imagine the fifth ending they referenced was the ending in the Casino dlc with Father Elijah and essentially gassing New Vegas with the cloud
I think the 5th ending could be like a alternate yes man ending where the courier decided to make all the destructive choices
Basically serving as "killed every one" ending
Me being a bike courier, and seeing Sawyer truing a wheel.....man....full circle
God imagine if they had even like another year of development :(
Man, if only Obsidian was able to cook for 6 more months…
5 endings, one being legion without ceasar?
i think it’s that or an everyone loses ending
If only we got a post game. If only
happy to see people still giving this game love!👍
Possible the fifth ending had to do with the Followers of the Apocalypse, since it was once possible to give them the Platinum Chip. Also, the cut lines regarding the Legion potentially occupying the Strip in the event of their victory, it could just be that the Legion has come to the Strip, but that they haven't enacted any major changes yet, though the characters expect they'll come. This would allow the Strip to remain for the most part unchanged in all ending scenarios
Post game is great but NV having a true ending is what makes the narrative more meaningful.
You don't know what the final ending is? It's the Snuffles ending.
The 5th ending being teaming up with Elijah.
The fifth ending is the Sierra Madre ending, where Elijah and the courier release the mist into the wasteland.
Because Veronica did it all by herself
In my legion playthrough before I even speak to cesar for the first time and cazadores do appear
