My first date with my college boyfriend was a U2 concert in Philadelphia. I still have the concert booklet from the concert. We’ve been married 32 years. Amazing show!
My take on this is that he's looking for God. "You broke the bonds, and loosed the chains/You carried the cross of my shame/You know I believe it..." And the spiritual quest goes on.
According to Bono, he wrote this song as a hymn. Initially they were going to record it with a gospel choir. According to Bono, he believes in what Jesus did for him, but what he's looking for is the kingdom and the fulfillment of the promises. Basically, there will always be some level of discontentment on this side of eternity where there is war, injustice, corruption, poverty, sickness, etc.
She should hear the live version of that song on the Rattle and Hum album with the Gospel choir on backup. Joshua tree was nominated best new gospel album that year
Love a U2! They have a lot of good songs! Some of my faves are "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses", "One",T"he Sweetest Thing" "With ir Without You",Beautiful Day", "Vertigo"and many more...
Great Reaction JAYY. I absolutely love this song. The video was filmed in my hometown when I still lived there Las Vegas. I love seeing the video it reminds me of what the Las Vegas Strip used to look like back in the 80s. So it takes me down memory lane. Great song great video.❤️✌️🌼
Had one of the great concert moments at a U2 show at the now demolished JFK Stadium in Philly, with about 100,000 other folks. Just as they were beginning the song "Bullet The Blue Sky", a jet airliner flew RIGHT OVER THE STADIUM. Don't know how they timed that one! More U2 magic.
Scary thing to think about. What is the confliction between religion and rock star? The temptations? Or the execs asking you to do things against religion
back in the day always had to have an album in the collections, saturday night fever soundtrack, pink floyd the wall, bruce springteen born in the usa, supertramp breakfast in america and u2 joshua tree...always replaced once lp became scratched and marred from over use or cassette deteriorated
I love this song, The Edge's guitar is just wonderful The whole Joshua Tree album is brilliant, its the only CD I queued up for round the block. Jayy, I think you'll enjoy Electrical Storm, also U2, I want to see you face when you watch the video! ❤❤
There's a video of Bono and his band mate The Edge on David Letterman singing Stuck in a Moment. Really good just them and a guitar. He wrote the song for his friend Michael Hutchence of INXS when he died.
U2 built a following in the early 80's by putting on amazing concerts. Check out The Electric Co live in Dortmund Germany 1984. The band and the audience was high energy that night.
One thing I really like about these reaction videos is how you actually talk about the meaning behind the song. I never really thought about it. Just like the songs.
People like to dog on U2, but you are absolutely correct: in his prime, Bono was one of the best male vocalists around. He had a nearly 4 octave range, which is insane for a pop/rock singer. His pops was an opera singer, though, so I think that Bono got a lot of his chops from his dad. The music that U2 made was generally a canvas for Bono to write (sing) on.
😢 I miss the 1980s version of Las Vegas. How they ruined Fremont street by turning it into just another tourist mall. Back then it still felt real and more a throwback to an earlier version of Vegas.
You should find a live version of this. They call it their gospel song. They are transcendent live and as Bono likes to say to Edge the guitar player, "Edge, take us to church" ! Definitely watch Rattle and Hum the concert film they did back in the 80's documenting their journey around the USA. ua-cam.com/video/M8Wt3dhF4fU/v-deo.html They go to Harlem and have the Harlem Gospel Choir sing this song and they filmed it in their church. So good!! You will love it!! There is a clip here on youtube you should check it out. The version they did on Jimmy Kimmel more recently with the gospel choir is also amazing! ua-cam.com/video/c0Pbb8RB4hY/v-deo.html Bono is very spiritual but played it cool in his younger days. They didn't want to be labeled a CCM band. ( Contemporary Christian) They wanted to appeal to everyone and include everyone and boy they sure did! I have seem them only twice live but I plan on more!
Peak U2. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was the second consecutive number-one single in the USA from U2's platinum selling 1987 album The Joshua Tree. They released a live album, Rattle & Hum, the following year. It includes a version of this song that draws on the gifts of The New Voices of Freedom Gospel Choir to take the song to church ( ua-cam.com/video/TAxs0qIBw0g/v-deo.html ). Your estimation of meeting U2 is spot on. Friends of mine in high school on a trip they took to Ireland back in 1983 or 1984 ran into them on the street. That was when U2 was just becoming known in the US. I don't remember all the details of their story (it was their story after all). But the short of it that they, more or less, took a selfie with Bono which they made into Christmas cards. My friends all had good things to say about meeting him. When you're ready to dig deeper into their catalog, check out some of these songs -- "Gloria", "In God's Country", "New Year's Day", "The Unforgettable Fire", "Desire", the live version of "Bullet the Blue Sky" from their from Rattle & Hum album, "Two Hearts Beat As One", "Surrender", "I Will Follow", "Twilight", "Red Light", "Mysterious Ways", "Until the End of the World" ...
beautiful song. please watch the rattle and hum version. and perhaps watch the rattle and hum version of running to stand still. it will break yr heart its so beautiful
OK JAYY the meaning of the song is about his search for Christ if you listen to the line in the song which goes " you broke the bonds and loosed the chains carried the Cross of my shame of my shame " but i still havent found what im looking for check out the version they done with the Harlem Gospel choir its amazing "
As much as you love the band's music and especially Bono, I really encourage and recommend you watch Bad. The Live Aid version is just fire and he helped save the life of a girl in the audience getting crushed. Whomever owns that video (not U2 - they don't block) tends to block that one. Another one (my favorite) is Bad live 1985 version. He is so energetic it seems like he might explode. They were so raw and so young then too. It's my favorite version of Bad. I'm a hurge U2 fan and there are loads of their live videos here, but that one is excellent. Love your reactions.
you've always had a pretty face, but i didn't know you looked like that below the chest, but in addition to to your personality, you're a physically beautiful woman as well, love you're vids, keep it up, good work.
Disturbed did a cover of this you should react to ... no video, but the official audio can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/hNkOC6mvbsI/v-deo.html - fair warning, the first 1:30ish are silent as this was a "hidden tracK" on the Asylum album. If you check out the album, you'll see 12 listed tracks - the 13th is ISHFWILF.
BONO!! {{{FINGER--LICKING--GOOD}}}!!! WHEN THIS HUNKA---HUNKA---BURNING---LOVE WAS YOUNGER, O'MY'GOODNESS, FINE WASN'T EVEN A WORD ON DESCRIBING WHAT THIS MAN, & "I DO MEAN--"MAN", LOOKED LIKE COMPARABLE TO ALL OTHER MEN!! I WAS KINDA A FAN OF U2, BUT I WAS MORE OF A FAN OF ***BONO*** HIMSELF! ANY CHANCE I HAD I WOULD WATCH HIS VIDEOS OVER & OVER, AGAIN & AGAIN 🔥🔥🔥. BUT OK, BEING SERIOUS, I HAD MEGA RESPECT FOR BONO, BECAUSE HE LOVED HIS WIFE OF MANY, MANY YEARS...HE LOVES HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN AND THAT IN ITSELF MAKES ME RESPECT EVEN MORE ❤️.
My first date with my college boyfriend was a U2 concert in Philadelphia. I still have the concert booklet from the concert. We’ve been married 32 years. Amazing show!
I have mine from the Pittsburg show . Congratulations on the 32 yrs!
Oops my mistake! We’ve been married 31 years !
This is one of those songs that you know Exactly where you were when you first heard it!!
My take on this is that he's looking for God. "You broke the bonds, and loosed the chains/You carried the cross of my shame/You know I believe it..." And the spiritual quest goes on.

In this world you will have trouble but be of good cheer...I have overcome the world - Jesus
Xxx
Yes!
The ultimate goal is home
She should hear the live version of that song on the Rattle and Hum album with the Gospel choir on backup.
Joshua tree was nominated best new gospel album that year

Some of my faves are "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses", "One",T"he Sweetest Thing" "With ir Without You",Beautiful Day", "Vertigo"and many more...
My Uncle and I were standing directly across the street from the Freemont when this video was being shot watching the entire thing.....
Nice. That whole Joshua Tree album by U2 is great btw. You should check out "Bullet The Blue Sky" from the same album.
“I love Bono!” Sane, girl, SAME. Probably always will.
Pink Floyd=Dark Sode Of The Moov: 1973 @ Earls Court, West London and they had a plane inside !! though don't ask me how😀
Song is about Bono’s conflicting relationship between his religion and being a rock star.
Scary thing to think about. What is the confliction between religion and rock star? The temptations? Or the execs asking you to do things against religion
This was mine and my wifes song. It was played on our first date. Now when I hear it I just miss her more and more
back in the day always had to have an album in the collections, saturday night fever soundtrack, pink floyd the wall, bruce springteen born in the usa, supertramp breakfast in america and u2 joshua tree...always replaced once lp became scratched and marred from over use or cassette deteriorated
This is an anthem ❤️
I love this song, The Edge's guitar is just wonderful
The whole Joshua Tree album is brilliant, its the only CD I queued up for round the block.
Jayy, I think you'll enjoy Electrical Storm, also U2, I want to see you face when you watch the video!
❤❤
Song - timeless. Message - I can relate. Reaction - always love your genuineness. 💕
The Live version off of Rattle and Hum is backed by a black choir and is thrice as good as this.
Hey Jayy girl! My favorite of theirs! I’m still with ya- just been laying a bit low. Health issues don’t play.. Much love always- 💕
I love U two.
There's a video of Bono and his band mate The Edge on David Letterman singing Stuck in a Moment. Really good just them and a guitar. He wrote the song for his friend Michael Hutchence of INXS when he died.

I love this song. It’s one of my favorites. Thank for reacting to it.
One of my absolute favorite songs!!!!! 💜💙
One thing I really like about these reaction videos is how you actually talk about the meaning behind the song. I never really thought about it. Just like the songs.
I love U2. If you listen to the words if their songs, they have a religious connotation.
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 Well I have no idea where I was when I first heard this, but a classic. I still feel Boy is as good as Joshua Tree.
Love me some U2! How much fun would it have been to be on Fremont St when they were filming that!
Have you don’t their video - with or without you, bad, all I want is you.. all great vocal performances
I hope they don't their video too..

Great song from the great albun.! ( The Joshua Tree )
There is a version of this song with the Harlem Gospel Choir backing them. It is brilliant and even more spiritually charged.
I love your U2 and Zeppelin reactions the most!
It is a classic.
Love this song. Great choice. Looking forward to more Beatles and my favorite female artist, Linda Ronstadt 🌺✌️
Amazing song the album joshua tree are my favorit album

😢 I miss the 1980s version of Las Vegas.

Try From The Cradle to the Grave, or Sunday, bloody Sunday 💙✊
Good reaction Jayy! Keep up the good work I know you have a lot going on and are always busy, so I appreciate bringing in some more U2, thank you!
You have to watch the rattle and hum version
You should find a live version of this. They call it their gospel song. They are transcendent live and as Bono likes to say to Edge the guitar player, "Edge, take us to church" ! Definitely watch Rattle and Hum the concert film they did back in the 80's documenting their journey around the USA.

You are just the sweetest, cutest reactor! Love your videos. And yes, Bono is a dream.

Inspirational.
A lot of Bono’s lyrics are religious in nature, about his search for God and meaning in this life. He has spoken quite a bit about it before.
brilliant.
Good song good reaction
There is a great cover by a band called The Chimes. Another great version
U2 are my favourite band, if you want to see/ hear Bono’s vocal range please check out the live video for miss Sarajevo live from Milan Itily.

U2 is a Christian band. And everything they do is great. Pay attention to the lyrics of every song they do.
I love watching your videos
A U2 favorite! You should check out the cover by Home Free and Peter Hollens, it rips!
👏👏👏 have you reacted to sweetest thing by u2. Right up your streeet 👍😀👏👏
Imagine Elvis Presley singing this song.
You should check out a version of this by a group called The Chimes
How come no one mentions the bass and drums. Wonderful, gives the singer and guitarist space, but driving the song along.
You gotta listen to “Gloria”.....
The recording is slowed down, so the original vocal is actually a semi-tone higher!
Stevie macrory singing son
If you haven't done so already, please check U2 Mysterious Ways
you've always had a pretty face, but i didn't know you looked like that below the chest, but in addition to to your personality, you're a physically beautiful woman as well, love you're vids, keep it up, good work.
Have you watched U2 at Live Aid (incredible performance).
He's singing about meeting Jesus.
He's singing half a step down from normal tuning (Eb).... to get that vocal range requires a shit load of push from the diaphrgam.
Gerat reaction Jayy; I love this song. @robduncan Are you still out there somewhere?
👍👍👍👍👍💯

Coldplay please.
Bono is a devout Christian, and always has been. Many U2 songs speak to it.
Pronounced Bon-o
Are you single
Do you have any idea how Unattractive it looks when you Pop your 👀 eyes out?
