This is a gospel song. I have loved it forever and listened to it thousands of times. I heard the words but didn't listen. I found out like 5 yrs. ago that it's not a love song. The lyrics "You broke the bonds and you loosed the chains. Carried the cross of my shame of my shame...you know I believe it. I believe in the kingdom come when all the colors bleed into one". Bono is writing of his searching for a relationship with Jesus Christ.

This one. It's the official music video and gives credence to the coined term 'rock star'... But you'll love the song and the historical moment of 'Where the streets have no name' in downtown LA.
It's the best album U2 every recorded! Been a huge fan for 40 years, seeing them live is phenomenal!!!!! So many exceptional alums in 45 years, and still holding the most Grammys ever won Best band in the world! And meeting them, they are extremely sweet and humble!!!!! All of their music is timeless! Check out Ultraviolet (Light my way) Moment of surrender ONE Kite Where the streets have no name Every breaking Wave, off the innocence album Just keep playing their albums the more you listen to the songs the more you will love them and understand the meaning behind them Bono is a poet when it comes to writing songs!!!!!

To me this Powerful Anthem is an "ode" to/for the many, in an unending quest for...Love..?, Happiness...? Peace of Mind.. whatever...? It strikes a chord somewhere deep inside so many, relentlessly searching for the indefinable "something more", whilst ignoring what they already have...!
When this video was made, U2 was pretty much the biggest underground band in the world. They could go on the strip and do this with real people. 1 year later. Probably not possible.
If you're going to go down the U2 road, check out "Bad" - Live Aid "Where the Streets Have No Name" - Live in Boston (Elevation tour) "Bullet the Blue Sky" - Live in Sydney (ZooTV tour) "Every Breaking Wave" - EMA
As I have commented many times ...Bono said the band was in a state of hopelessness and despair. Hence why the single Joshua Tree drew them to that particular spot to shoot stills. In addition to that, Greg Carroll had been killed the year before. I guess this is what motivated them overall....
Takes a few U2 songs to get into them sometimes... the poetical lyrics, the gritty Bonovox vocals and the unique rock instrumentals become gold once it clicks. Try at least a few more songs for sure.
I could’ve sworn I’ve heard this in a movie before I always respected U2 not a fan but they’re kinda like Coldplay for me always respected the talent and might’ve heard songs of there’s here and there but just never gravitated to there type of music definitely great talent tho that’s obvious🤘🏽🎯💯(Great Reaction as always and I’m still excited for more MJ reactions in the future!)
Next time watch live videos of u2. They are the best live band ever and their concerts will blow you away. Try the epic slane castle concert or their performance of bad at the live aid concert in Wembley, or, or, or...
“Where the Streets Have No Name” is a must but I think you should do the album version and not the official video. “One”, “I Will Follow”, “New Years Day”, “Walk On” are a few suggestions.
Hey it depends what style of music she gravitates toward. Play live version of stay acoustic or all I want is you. Every breaking wave in their later catalog
1988 The Joshua Tree won Album of the year in Grammy beating other great artistes like Michael Jackson, Prince et al. This and With or Without You are my favorite U2 songs. No mention of the excellent guitar sound?
I love U2. But I wish people would do reaction videos to other songs rather than the very basics. They have a wealth of music. Try MOFO. Try some stuff from Pop, Zooropa, Achtung Baby. All people react to on UA-cam is this song, One and Pride. And even as a huge U2 these songs are dull.
U2 is the soundtrack to my life, since the early 80's.

Amen!
He is hitting an A in this without breaking into falsetto. Incredible.
Yeah, I tried to Karaoke it once. LOL. Damn, no way I could hit it.
Yeah Bono voice is tremendous in this, it's a 10/10.
The Fly (Live Boston 2001)

I love this Album and played this Cassette on my Walkman until the tape broke. Joshua Tree Album is so peaceful and powerful at the same time.
Check out U2 playing Where the Streets have no name on a rooftop in downtown LA and causing gridlock. The Cops turned up and they weren't happy!

It's interesting that the setting for the video is Las Vegas, a place where people go to try and find what they're looking for.

Enjoyed your reaction 👏
This song is about a person on a spiritual journey. They believe that Jesus died on cross etc but is still searching to know themself.
1983 - 1993 The Best Of U2 👌🏻
Headphones, man, headphones to listen!!
When this video was made, U2 was pretty much the biggest underground band in the world. They could go on the strip and do this with real people. 1 year later. Probably not possible.
Please explain what you meant :)
Not an 80s U2 song but City Of Blinding Lights is a lot like this.
City of Blinding lights is a fantastic song!
Also, Angel of Harlem! It happens to be my ringtone 😊❤

You should was U2 at live aid on UA-cam...its amazing.
Not the strip. It’s downtown Las Vegas, Fremont Street. Was there days after this filming. ❤
Not sure if many people know this or remember it, but your jacket was THE trend jacket my '95/'96 & '96/'97 high school years.
Takes a few U2 songs to get into them sometimes... the poetical lyrics, the gritty Bonovox vocals and the unique rock instrumentals become gold once it clicks. Try at least a few more songs for sure.
Try bad from the unforgettable fire album
Most unique voice in the last 35 years for me, Apart from Matt Bellamy from MUSE maybe
Agree. No one really comes close, but it isn't just about the actual vocal ability. The emotion is really everything.

Yeah exactly my thoughts on them ...I like them but only a couple songs of theirs are on my playlist...they will be coming !
Coldplay is like U2, a least their earlier stuff lol
And Bono met his future wife when she was 13 and he was 14/15 and got married late teens/early twenties and are still together.

Listen, you MUST watch U2's ' Who's gonna ride your wild horses' video. You will absolutely love the song. Very underrated
Awesome reaction. You should also react to Dimash Kudaibergen, a singer from Kazakhstan. I would suggest you should check him out too.
They are in Vegas, but pretty sure it is downtown Vegas.
It was on the main strip in Vegas
You mister should let her talk too. Just saying
Hey it depends what style of music she gravitates toward. Play live version of stay acoustic or all I want is you. Every breaking wave in their later catalog

Is she allowed to think for herself?
We all know the guy is never right in marriage.
Religious overtones to the lyrics

I have held the hand of the devil. It was warm in the night. I was cold as a stone! That always gives me chills!
Maybe she is right, and you are wrong!

I mean, classic but dull.
I would but she’s yet to here the classics let alone deep cuts
@@Whosrightwhoswrong Fair. I'm boring my current girlfriend going through all the albums from front to back :P Poor thing.
Haha only way to do it
I watched one reaction, the first U2 song she reacted to was Numb. That was... Interesting to say the least!
You can't react to this song on some shitty laptop speakers. Headphones on, eyes closed. Jesus.
