    If you think people get excited about food, try delivering with UPS and you’ll see people are always happy to get a package 📦. LOL!

    Pro Tip:
    Wearing DD, or any other platform's, t-shirt invites big problems. Many delivery drivers are covered by regular car insurance, instead of speciality insurance like rideshare. In an accident driver advertises to world, "hey, look at me. Delivery guy." If other party, witness, or police officer documents courier wearing that t-shirt, especially if an order is plainly visible, courier's insurance company will have major shit-fit. Courier will likely have committed insurance fraud, for driving as business without business or other specialized insurance, like rideshare. Regular policy holder's are usually limited to non-commercial driving ONLY. Violators will likely get their insurance dropped, and placed on insurance industry shit-list as high-risk liability, which means huge premium increase.
    Forget the damn shirt.

      Super Star ⭐️ great point I never thought of that angle. I hate the t shirts even more now!!!

    • @jimmykirk811
      @jimmykirk811 6 років тому +1

      I agree with Super Star - However one reason in favor of wearing the shirts is that it is nice when I walk into a restaurant and they know immediately who I am and why I'm there and I often get to skip the line and get my food sooner. Sometimes without the shirt it takes a long time to even be acknowledged.

    Just picked up a $97 order from an office order through DoorDash yesterday and got a $20 cash tip in hand. Great 1st week through DoorDash at almost $510 so far, and the weekend just hit.

    I am a DoorDash driver in San Diego and also do UberEats. I do not know how other markets are but here is SD. With DD I avg $8-$9 per delivery no matter if it is Jack in the Box or a taco shop. So I always accept those orders. If it is Out Back or Red Lobster it is $10-$12 per delivery. Uber pay is half or less per delivery. Best time for making money is between 3pm and 9pm. I also seem to find that the later the order... 9pm to 1am, the bigger the tip with DD. Not so with Uber. It can be a 1am Uber delivery and I will only make $3-$4. So I only do Uber as a time filler when DD is slow. Also, while I do schedule time slots with DD, when there are no slots available I can still work a full night shift because it does get busy and other drivers sign out early because they do not really want work late. Ie: last Saturday all the time slots were not available. But once 5pm came around the areas stayed red so I was able to just sign in and start working. I find that on weekends people tend to sign out early because they want to go to a social function of some sort. Since I mostly work at nights I park as close as possible. I will double park, park in red, loading zones, driveways. And I have never been ticketed. I never park in handicap of course. If I work downtown I made friends with all the security, doorman at the high rises. They let me park in the loading docks or right in front of the buildings. Also this time of year I do not accept any orders from any place located in a mall. No parking and a waste of time no matter how big the tip. I learned the hard way last year when I accepted orders from places in Horton Plaza, Mission Valley Mall and Fashion Valley Mall. Took me 30 min to find parking and 30 min to get out and another 15 to the drop off. Hope this helps. And if your in San Diego hit me up for some other tips.

    • @DanLoFat
      @DanLoFat 5 років тому +1

      @@RideShareTips unfortunately that is not a punishment, they can deny you perks based on low acceptance rates. 90% must be a GrubHub thing I'm still on there waiting list so I don't know but 90% of never been to doordash saying that I do know. I use the decline button quite frequently.
      Punishments are such things as timeouts or firings.

    Short blocks, sometimes the gps doesn't work well with google maps, it's harder at night cause you can see shit not to mention a lot of small orders they do not reimburse you every time you go through a toll road sometimes you need to call the customer for details that are not listed in the app and they don't answer, no real incentives. It's been slow af not to mention support has been found to be incompetent during issues but thats only happened a few time.

    I’m signing up for DoorDash and Grubhub. You recommend using both at the same time to maximize orders.
    1.If you have to schedule your hours for both companies should I choose the same time frame for each company?
    2. What if let’s say I’m using both apps and I get an order for grubhub and I accept. While on that order for grub hub I happen to receive another order from DoorDash. Do I just decline the offer? And won’t that hurt my rating or acceptance percentage if I do?
    Thank you

    I think Door Dash has changed how they do things. I just started and the pop up just shows you what payment you’ll get. In the fine print you can find the total food order cost that the customer paid but it’s not the main pop up notification that you see first.

    I've heard not accepting every over could reflect badly on you (from other dashers) because you get an acceptance rate which can somehow play into furture orders and promotional stuff you get. At least to my understanding. I'm going to be doing it in a major metropolitan area on the east coast that has some fancier areas like LA so there is potential for the system you're using. I'm just confused on whether you can choose where you dash if you take up a shift. Do you have to choose the location ahead of time (like the red areas on the map), or is it a free-for-all? Thanks

    Earnings depend on area, I deliver in Nashville, TN, not actually in heart of downtown as it's crazy doing deliveries there as you spent more times looking for parking than actually delivering. For my rating #1 Uber Eats as they pay the best rates for milage, #2 is GrubHub, but using it time to time, as it always tries to send me 10 miles for orders pickup. So UE and GB are the most honest, they pay your delivery fee + all your tips. #3 DoorDash - defenetly gives more orders that GH, but DD steals your delivery fee if you get tips, it makes me crazy, it's not about the money, it's about my feeling being ripped off. And always tries to send me 15-20 miles away for 8-9 dollars, they are crazy. There is also BiteSquad - greatest liars, they also don't pay delivery fee if you get some tips, just stay away from them.
    Uber Eats undoubtedly is the best among all, I calculate good earnings as 1 dollar per mile, no matter it was unpaid pick-up miles or paid delivery miles. I just check odometer at start and the at finish, currently only Uber Eats can cover 1 dollar for every mile in overall including tips, average earning per trip is around 10 dollars, and I think it's not bad at all )))

      @@desertrose0601 If you're in a decently busy area, priority doesn't really enter into things. I only ever Dash Now, and I still get a steady supply of orders coming in. Swipe to confirm delivery as I'm walking away, swipe to accept orders as I'm getting back into my car. ;)

    • @PongoXBongo
      @PongoXBongo 5 років тому

      It's whoever's closet. This is typically a good thing, but it can backfire if there aren't many drivers out. I've been on the edge of my selected area before and gotten sucked into the next area over because I was the "closest available driver". Luckily you can "pause" your dash, head back to your desired area, then "resume" your dash. ;)

      Thabie Melvin you just have to quickly log out of the other apps once you accept a trip. Sometimes, two requests might come in at the same time. Pick the one that best suits you and let the other request time out, then log out

    You would think that's 100% true, about no one being unhappy when you bring them food...but I'm an UE driver and I can barely eek out a quick "thankya" from most of these 0-personality, no-smiles mouth-breathers. Let alone tips. But, I just smile, address them by name and hand them the food and I SAY thank you--which is odd considering I'M bringing THEM the food, not the other way around.

      I typically wear a bright read DoorDash baseball hat and their dark gray DoorDash zip-up hoodie as my unofficial "uniform". The hat helps a lot at new restaurants; if I look lost a staffer will call out "hey DoorDash, over here", lol. It also clearly identifies me to the customer, along with the red DoorDash bag. No one wants some plain-clothed rando with a plastic bag wandering up to their door. ;)

      Start working in parts of town you're familiar and comfortable with, working only daylight hours if you prefer. Once you get into the swing of things (won't take long) you can start to slowly expand your comfort zone. Always take your official delivery bag with you (esp. the bright red DD one) and make yourself visible (don't hide in the crowd); sort of "I'm a DoorDasher, don't mess with me." ;)

    Anyone have any good ideas / strategy for being able to always get signed on for a shift? (for Doordash) The scheduling portion of the app gives me like 30 minutes to 1&1/2 hour shifts at the most in my area. I used to be able to call "customer support" and they would clock me in, but starting last week they put the kibosh on that! Damn. I was working 10-12 hours a day!, but now....bupkis.
    Anyone have any slick ideas on this?

    • @deeshizzlee
      @deeshizzlee 6 років тому +4

      ArDubya if you wait until midnight, and refresh the app, the newest schedule come out for the next day available and all the good shifts. Right now they have a summer scheduling so if your like me and don't qualify for that most of the time, waiting till midnight allows you to see the new day and the new shifts. Try it!

      If you choose to be picky with your orders, you're going to want to keep your other ratings up, esp. customer rating. This guy can get away with it because of that 4.8 customer rating.
