At the age of 12, Tom was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Many years later, he said, "I spent two years in bed recovering. It was the worst time of my life." During this time, he could do little else but listen to music and draw. Just think after having an extremely bad disease that affects the lungs and can sing like that is extraordinary 😁 Sir Tom Jones is 84 on June 7th this year and still sings with the same power, emotion and control as he did back in 1967. He is still touring all around the world and is a judge on the voice UK that’s some career he has had absolutely ❤ love Toms voice 👍🏻🤩🏴
After 6 decades of perspective, I've come to really appreciate actual talent. No auto-tune, live TV, just walk out and perform like a boss. Smooth as suede, maximum swag. No comparison to 95% of today's fabricated wanna bes.
This was his first big hit at age 24 that voice is amazing what a gift he still giving at 81 look at the voice uk he sang this with the son of who wrote this song
@@jamespasifull3424 I've heard both although I would agree The Voice was a lot more common. My late dad's apprentice was Welsh and Dad always said he must be the only Welshman that couldn't sing.
fun fact; the guy who wrote this song for Tom was Lonnie Donegan, who passed away in 2002, and a few years ago Lonnie’s son Peter auditioned on The Voice, which Tom Jones is a judge on, and they did an impromptu performance of this song for the audience when Tom found out that Peter was Lonnie Donegan’s son
This song was written by Lonnie Donegan and a few years ago while Tom Jones was a judge on the voice Lonnie Donegan’s son performed and the judge that turned for him was Tom Jones. Then they performed this son live together. It was incredible TV.
And he still sings this well today. He was a coach on The Voice ( British) and he sang “A Man’s World” with Jennifer Hudson during one of the breaks and it’s freaking phenomenal!! Jennifer clearly was in total awe all season of his vocals. Really cute to see a young artist have such respect for a “ more seasoned” artist!!
I loooved your reaction to this video. Tom knocks you on your butt and the fact that you reacted the way that you did shows you get it!!! I remember when he first appeared on American tv to perform we were hooked at first sight. Thanks for giving this music a chance.
Tom Jones was a musical god. He hung around with Elvis and Tom is still going strong at 80 years of age. He had hit after hit up to the present. Just released a new album. Cannot be compared.
Thx! He was a game changer! All the moms on our street got together to watch him on tv! I’m learning with you all over again because this Reaction thing is new to us all! -Terry
Sir Tom Jones is a living legend and yes it SIR Tom Jones as he’s been Knighted. Hard to believe he’s in his 80’s now. If you want to add another classic to your list try The Righteous Brothers “Unchained Melody live from 1965. It’s amazing or their song Soul and Inspiration. You won’t be disappointed. New subscriber here and thank you.
Consummate performer - only Tom Jones. Not too shabby for a boy from such a tiny country as Wales. Also a very small town in that nation. His voice has never paled with time. He is and always will be one of Britains best singers.
Man love your reaction to this beautiful song. I remember, this song very well. Never gets old, listening to sir tom Jones. A legend indeed. God bless, brother.
OMG I Loved this...I loved your reaction!!! I danced to this song when it first came out, with the guy I was married to for 48 years ♥♥ brought back a beautiful memory..we sure had some good music back then! thank you...☺
This was written by Tom's friend and fellow British musician Lonny Donegan! Tom did this on the Voice UK a couple years ago with the late Lonny Donegan's son and contestant Peter. Tom turned his chair and became Peter's coach. Well worth the watch!
Sir Tom is 81 and is still sounding amazing! He is a judge on the U.K..'s The Voice and frequently shares a tune. He has a long list of hits, including Delilah, Green, Green Grass of Home, and my personal favorite, I Who Have Nothing. Tom also had his own show during the 60's where he sang along with many guests, including Janis Joplin, Cher, and Stevie Wonder - available on UA-cam.
Not only is Tom Jones still alive. He's 80 years old and can still belt out songs just the same. His voice has not changed one iota! He's also Sir Tom Jones now.
I'm a baby boomer who grew up in the 60s and 70 s... Then and now loved Elvis and Tom Jones but Tom wasn't out as long and have as much of a long-lasting effect as Elvis did... You need to do research on the talent show The Voice with Tom Jones as a judge like recently like in the last year or two.. he has done duets and he has sung on the show and I think at 80 or 82 He can still sing this song and any other of his hits with great charisma and swag, he never lost it with age....❤
Your reactions ( 2 I heard yet) are my kind of appreciative This masterpiece and your reaction to the late Gary Brooker of Procu Harum whose "Whiter Shade of Pale" also real incredible vocal, each aging like fine wine! You get it!
I, Who Have Nothing is my favorite Tom Jones song of all time. I've had the pleasure of seeing Tom Jones six times in concert and every single time it's been some of the best. If you get a chance to ever see him in concert go you will not be disappointed.
If you want a fun Tom Jones song I’d recommend “Sex Bomb” it’s one of his later songs but a great tune. He also did a cover of Prince’s song “Kiss”, definitely worth checking out
YES ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ THIS WAS MY EPOCA... LISTEN TO HIS VOICE ..SAD TO HEAR AND SEE THIS, BACK NOW IN 2022 ..I M NOW 72.. I WAS YOUNG.. Young People nowaday you do not have this races of singers.
Tom is Welsh meaning he’s from Wales the smallest of the countries that make up the UK (the others being England, Scotland, Northern Ireland), the population of Wales is just 3 million! Tom lives in Las Vegas and has done residency gigs there for years. The first show he did there Elvis Presley was in the audience and went back stage to meet Tom and famously asked him “how d’ya sing like that?”. They were close friends thereafter until Elvis’ premature death. Tom is still recording and touring and is a permanent fixture on The Voice UK as judge/mentor despite being in his early-mid 80’s now. In the late 1980’s he teamed up with the Art Of Noise to record a cover version of Prince’s song Kiss which was a big hit for them!
This, was awesome. What's new Pussycat by him is great. RELEASE ME by ENGLEBERT is incredible 1967. Had many hit songs as Tom did. Keep up the good work
Yes to Engelbert Humperdinck. And you really need to do classic Righteous Brothers, You've Lost That Lovin Feeling. Then solo by Bobby Hatfield singing Unchained Melody. Really good review.
Some others of Tom Jones, She's a Lady, Help Yourself, Green Green Grass of Home, Delilah, are a few of a huge catalogue. May I also suggest Procol Harum , Whiter Shade of Pale , released 1957 I believe but watch the Denmark live version, it is incredible I kid you not. Great reaction.
I found you today and love, love. love your reactions! You are amazing and I have spent the afternoon watching many of your videos, smiling so hard and bouncing along with you so thank you..!! I found you through this video and it would make ms SOOOOO happy if you would react to Tom Jones "Delilah"..I feel sure that you will love it (and it has a mindblowing plot twist you just don't see coming..!) That's what a man's voice is supposed to sound like. Big, strong. Just beautiful.
Tom has too much swag for the camera for my eyes... I'm a married man....I almost fell in love ..What am I doing with my life? PRICELESS!
There is NO MATCH for that type of singing. That is a BEAUTIFUL SONG and perfectly executed. The Great Tom Jones!!!!!!
thatś Sir Tom to the rest of us.
Real music, real singer, no auto tune or pitch correction.
Also no compression, no multitracking, no chorus effects, no reverb, no echo; just pure talent.
Totally agree!! Bring back the sixties!!

Sir Tom Jones is alive and well and at the age of 81 still sounds great. That great Welsh voice is legendary.
Yup, that voice is still big strong and beautiful. With Tom, age doesn't seem to matter!
He is a judge on The Voice and sings regularly. Amazing voice after 60 years.
The control, power and clarity of his voice is unmatched....real talent we just don't see with today's "stars "
This was his first big hit at age 24 that voice is amazing what a gift he still giving at 81 look at the voice uk he sang this with the son of who wrote this song
Known as "The Welsh Wailer", he can belt songs out. The Welsh are renowned for their singing.
He's actually only known as 'The Voice'.
NOT 'the Welsh wailer'!
FFS where did you get that idea?!?!
@@jamespasifull3424 I've heard both although I would agree The Voice was a lot more common. My late dad's apprentice was Welsh and Dad always said he must be the only Welshman that couldn't sing.

Agree! Him and Shirley Bassey are two of the world’s greatest. 👌

Real talent, live, raw power. No studio magic

Tom can sing a phone book and it would be phenominal and he exudes real class!
Not only is he still alive, he still sings! You can see him as one of the judges on Britain's Got Talent as well.
Just a little thing, but Tom's a judge on The Voice, UK.
Actually, he's on The Voice UK.
Mr. Tom is 80 and still singing gooood.. ♠W.G.
