This song was the most played song in the 20th century and beyond! They were the Dynamic Duo, Blue Eyed Soul at it's finest. They ( especially Bobby) will spoil you from listening to any other singers!
Great reaction. This is the most played song of the 20th century according to BMI, which keeps track of these things. The Righteous Brothers are the definition of blue eyed soul. There are groups with prettier harmonies, but when Bobby's smooth, beautiful tenor and Bill's gritty, booming baritone combine it's magic.
I saw a girl react to this who'd never heard them sing. When the light shined on em she stopped the video in shock cuz she couldn't believe they were White. It's a pretty funny reaction, and she teared up during it. This is one of the best songs ever performed.
Between Bobby's Countertenor and Bill's superb Bass-Baritone ranges...and the way they overlap their ranges to also harmonize so beautifully...unbeatable!
I was born in the early 60's and believe me, this group was top notch back in the Day! Bill is still alive...but Bobby left us in 2003! Many babies were made by listening to this group! Lol.
Awesome reaction, Devin. That song is one of my all time faves. Glad you loved it. You are so sincere in your evaluations. It's so much fun to watch your react. Thanks for this fun video!!
There never was, nor ever will be anyone like them. Bobby is so missed. He's around, though. He saw to it that his grandson, River Hatfield Nicolas, was born on his, Bobby's birthday, August 10th 2021.
Big fan of theirs, fortunate to have grown up in the 60s hearing great songs like this on the radio. Soul and Inspiration and For once in my Life plus others are very good also. There in the Hall of Fame and definitely would be a travesty if they weren't. Bill had a great solo hit Brown Eyed Woman in 68, I believe you would really dig it.
I just found your channel. Love your reactions to the Old School classics. I'm a 59 yr old blue eye soul oldies lover. But listen to everything thanks to my 7 brothers! LOL. Here's a few songs from my oldies while cruisin the Northern Neck area of VA (where I live) Hope you give em a try! Prayers! *Wildflower by Skylark *Last Song by Edward Bear (1972) *If you want to get to heaven (you've got to raise a little hell) live by Ozark Mountain Daredevils. *Holding on to yesterday by Ambrosia. While listening to this song, the police actually pulled me over while driving on a country road. He asked me to turn it down a few notches! SMH. That's what I get for having a Bose system in my car! Ha ha! Anyway, give a listen. You won't be disappointed! 😎
Love to watch you young people's reactions. Love that you're playing MY music and enjoying it. I danced many a steps to Bobby and Bill’s music. Brings back great memories. Thanks for sharing and enjoyed visit today.
Blue - eyed soul.. the masters!! Got to see them live in the mid-80s during their 25th anniversary tour. They were still just as good as they were in the 60s. Great reaction, and thanks for honoring this great music.
Awesome reaction Devin! Nobody does it like Bill and Bobby! They are the definition of blue-eyed soul! Thank you for allowing me to sit in with you again today, I really enjoyed myself! I've told you this before but I always stay to the end, I don't want to miss anything!
Born in 82. My dad was a country western guitarist and always had music playing or was on his guitar. Grew up with all these great songs you are discovering.
It's great to see the younger generation appreciate this music. They were also known as the Blue Eyed Soul Bros because they sang from their hearts and souls. Actually Bobby Hatfield had the tenor voice and Bill Melody was the baritone voice they shouldn't have blended together but they did and it was pure magic. They had a charisma that no other duo had. I think you really love the music I grew up with
I love watching this songs. I remember watching my Mom and Dad dancing to this song and they even use to dance in the grocery stores when this song would come on in the stores. People use to watch thrm dance til it was done. I miss them so much. Dad passed in 2007 and Mom in 2014...
Love your genuine reaction to these two. They weren't called the Righteous Brothers at first. They played a venue in Los Angeles, and when they had finished one of their songs, a couple of black guys stood up and said "that's righteous, brother!" From then on they became the Righteous Brothers and so began the singing style known as "blue eyed soul". Basically, white guys with soul. They definitely had SOUL. Check out "Love and Inspiration" by the Righteous Brothers for some more great blue eyed soul.
There was no auto-tune back then. They didn't need it. Soooooo Smooth! P.S. Your reaction is one of the truest, most honest one I've ever seen. Plus, thank you for not interrupting/chopping up their delivery.
Various music writers have described the Righteous Brothers version as "one of the best records ever made" and "the ultimate pop record". In 1999 the performing-rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) ranked the song as the most-played song on American radio and television in the 20th century, having accumulated more than 8 million airplays by 1999, and nearly 15 million by 2011. It held the distinction of being the most-played song for 22 years until 2019, when it was overtaken by "Every Breath You Take". In 2001 the song was chosen as one of the Songs of the Century by RIAA, and in 2003 the track ranked no. 34 on the list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone. In 2015 the single was inducted into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Lots of fun to see your reaction to these incredible songs us old people grew up with. A LOT of amazing music back then. Looking back, it seems such a wonder that The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals, the Supremes, Righteous Brothers and so many more were rolling out the hits every week for years. There was ALWAYS something new blasting on the radio that we ALL loved. No such thing as "oldies" because the music kept coming & kept coming. Thank you for delving into this music & sharing your reactions. P.S. this is an example of Phil Spector's groundbreaking "wall of sound".
I do believe if Gibby ever stumbles onto the "MoTown Sound", he ain't never comin back! 🤣🤣 The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smoky Robinson & The Miracles, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Marvin Gay, The Jackson 5, Martha & The Vandellas....to name just a few. Some of THE most iconic & best music to ever grace the airwaves. ✌😎
Well, me and wife look forward to computer at least once a week and we love music! Vet 76-90 for me, so nostalgia and music are profound and something to look forward to. Devin's reviews for me are just about as good or better than the videos! The best. I look forward to reviews dear man. Good night.
The Righteous Brothers got that Name also called blue-eyed soul brothers because of their black soulful voices! I heard blacks told them their sound was Righteous! Thus their name Righteous Brothers!
Back in the day we were leaving their show and I said the applause was deafening and she said that the applause was loud but all the panties hitting the stage was louder lol maybe lol.
Try something others have missed but is fantastic!! Jay and the Americans!!!!! My favorite song is Cara Mia or Some Enchanted Evening!!! You won't be sorry. Jay has an amazing voice.

Bobby Hatfield singing Unchained Melody in 1965 is another timeless classic.
Between Bobby's Countertenor and Bill's superb Bass-Baritone ranges...and the way they overlap their ranges to also harmonize so beautifully...unbeatable!
This song was used in the movie Top Gun back in the 80’s.
Dynamite drop-in Amanda
