When you asked about how Japanese people just manage to smell better with just soap, Japanese people literally just don't smell as much. It's a genetic trait. Has somethong to do with having different sweat glands that don't produce the fatty oil that the bacteria that causes BO likes to eat. It's also why most of them have flaky ear wax instead of sticky ear wax. It happens in other races, but it is predominantly an Asian thing if I remember right. Almost 100% of Koreans and 75% of Japanese have the genetic variation. Forget the stats for other Asians. Rachel and Jun did a good video on it awhile back.
Ceryk also I heard it's because they never used deodorant which after you use deodorant it causes the glands to open more..not sure how true this is...but I guess I should look it up again before posting something I learned years ago 🤣
This is true. Besides bringing your own deodorant, my advice as a foreigner is to always carry lightly scented wipes. Thankfully they sell them at every conbini in Japan so it shouldn't be too hard to get a hold of some. They saved me during the blistering warzone that was Summer Comiket, surrounded by so much sweat and heat.
Eriol last time I was in Japan I bring my own only to forget it midway in one of the hostels I was in haha i literally had to use the Japanese “deodorant” every 2 hours and take 10 showers a day, Japan’s summer is great
can attest to the flakey earwax= little to none b.o as a korean person. I never realized it wasn't exactly the norm until middle school locker rooms lol
Well there was this guy in school that is considered attractive based of all the girls that chased after him...but he uses the same uniform everyday. I know because theres a hole on the side which is kept together with safety pins
I’ve read somewhere that some East Asian countries (Japan included) people have a different chromosome or something like that, that keeps people from having BO. Which is very likely, I remember when I tried to use Japanese deodorant, that didn’t work at all lol and Japanese people usually don’t use any, I heard.
Felipe Chaves I definitely agree and of course It's scientifically proven with the gene and chromosome for east asians. I've dated 3 East Asians and they simply don't smell..my boyfriend is Japanese and he sweats a lot but simply doesn't smell LOOOL
KawaiiPettanko hahah sooo jealous, I barely sweat at all(besides when I was in the humid summer of Japan, first time I sweat for real in my life) but I cannot go on without using deodorant.
I'm a little surprised at least one of them didn't say something like "Well, if the guy is that handsome, I guess I'd have to bathe him ;) " or something to that extent.
I’d like to make a suggestion. Can you interview gay guys about what interests them on other guys (Japanese and foreigners)? Like their appearance, facial hair, hygiene, personality, and so on. I’d really like to know. Thank you!
I think It's not fair to say that someone has a bad personal hygiene just because they can have a bad smell. I agree that a bad BO is very unpleasent, but I find it pretty laughable that people are so quick to judge, especially when you genetically don't smell. I shower twice every day, and in hot summer I tend to sweat more than normal and without deodorant and perfume I would probably still smell pretty bad... This is something I can't really help even though my personal hygiene is good. I would do anything to have no smell what so ever as Japanese people, It's so normal to them that they can't even consider anything else. It makes me really nervous for my trip to Japan...
I have a question that would be very informative to us here in the US. I think it would be great to ask both sexes If they prefer to have shaved genitals on their significant other or not.
It can be, but its not really a personal question here in the US. I have seen a few UA-camrs that ask that question to random girls and boys here in the US. I just find it interesting since Japanese people are known to not shave, but it would be really interesting to hear the truth from people who actually are in Japan.
there is a video like that but it's in portuguese. It was made on Halloween, when some Japanese people tend to go dressed in costumes to the streets to party. So it was a more relaxed moment. Also, the owner of the channel is brazilian. A brazilian asking japanese people about waxing. Makes sense to me. =P
"I'm not that great with my own personal hygiene" ... almost spilled my water over my keyboard when she said that. As for bringing deo from our own country: I don't think you're allowed to bring it on a plane.
Interesting that they equate appearance with hygiene. A beard might look bad but it can be very clean. Natural hair can be clean in any part of your body, if you are a "clean" person. // Good point of the girls that indicated that they can teach the handsome guy to start with better hygienic habits, but cannot make the ugly guy look better that easily.
They should have clarified that because obviously if they can change the good looking one then the ugly one will never win because beauty will always win.
If i the handsome guy actually stepped up his hygiene game then i would consider him otherwise definitely the unattractive clean guy 🤔 love videos like this please do more videos with the 'would you rather' concept 🙏🏼 really looking forward to more 💕
*7:20** You said "...legs, armpits AND ALL THAT needs to be all cleanly shaven". Just have some pride about yourself and your fine. It is interesting about the genetics with Japanese people. Never knew that before I started watching this channel. God bless everyone
i wouldn't do that great there. Long hair and a beard, but clean. i'm allergic to perfume though, so i don't think i could deal with most of these girls either though.
Chamaeleonx Generally most Japanese men don't start fully growing out a beard until they're late 20's or early 30's. The genetics are so strange like that.
I wouldn't want a man with a beard either, I'm not saying that I think that beards are unsanitary but I'm really ticklish and when my uncle who has a beard kisses me on the cheek it really tickles.
triky5384 If you're not talking about a single person randomly appearing in more than one interview, but the while group, or even all the groups reappearing in another Videos, consider that they just might be doing more than one interview at the same time, so they get footage for multiple videos.
As a person that has lived in Japan I can confirm that yes you have Japanese girls that think like the ones in this video but there're TONS of others that will like any foreign guy as long as he is foreign. Doesn't matter if you're ugly and smelly or pretty and barely smell. No problem if you have body hair or beards (as long as they're not too long as it is a trend in Europe and the US). Just go to meetups and parties for Japanese and foreigners and you'll find someone for sure. Race doesn't matter either. As for foreign girls it can be harder. It's not even the looks but lots of Japanese guys are very awkward and it'll be harder to find someone. But definitely not impossible. Same tip I had for the guys: Just go to meetups and parties for Japanese and foreigners. Or sometimes they'll randomly talk to you on the street. Usually it's better to ignore those kinda guys though just like anywhere in the world.
Appearently you guys took this the wrong way. I'm not a guy and I was simply stating facts since I was shaking my head watching this video. It is SADLY a fact that they only care about you being foreign. You don't need to worry about what they say in this video because when it comes to it all of that blabbering isn't valid anymore. I apologize for making it sound like I was a foreign guy smashing Japanese girls. LOL Just a simple advice for all those people that always worry about whether they even have a chance at dating a Japanese person despite their looks and race. It just honestly doesn't matter. And it's up to you if you're okay with it.
People like your wife are still rare in Japan though. Outside of Japan they are definitely more open of course. And about the looks I've seen a lot of guys and girls walking down the street with their Japanese partner who are considered "unattractive" in Europe and the US or "average". For one beauty lies in the eye of the beholder but many of them simply have this idea hammered into their heads that high nose bridges, blue/green eyes, small faces equal beauty. But also had a lot of foreign friends that dated Japanese people which are considered "attractive". And they had a lot of dates. But in the end it was only about them being foreign. (whether they told them or they noticed it themselves) Some didn't care as the reason for the first attraction was mutual and some couldn't handle that fact. And then you have the super rare type where it actually isn't about you being foreign. Like. Super rare. Often it starts about you being a foreigner that they were attracted at first and then later on of course it isn't about just that anymore. But still deep down there it still was. And to end this on a good note: It all doesn't matter though. It only matters if you want it to matter. But it is also the truth.
After seeing a similar video earlier this year, I started paying a lot of attention on trains and in lines... lots Japanese women definitely smell like a cosmetics center, and lots of Japanese men have real b.o. basically not really any different.
Hygiene would be more important for me...I don't have tolerance for bo or bad breath or too much hair body hair. I hold myself to the same standard so I think that's fair.
Erica Rose HAHAHAHAHA, wtf. Do you actually ever went to germany, then that would explain your dumb comment. We are DEFINETLY not all masculine and loud. You are so fucking dumb.
Erica Rose when you walk around on the streets in any german cities, you'll notice that most german women wear wery elegant clothes and wear make up that make them look mature yet feminine. As an asian girl, when I went to Germany, I saw so many tall and slim girls and women, wearing elegant and professional clothes and looking like models instead of the hello kitty pink mess asian girls usually wear. So please do NOT criticize german women's look, most are beautiful and elegant. I think a mature and elegant woman is much more attractive than a woman dressed like a baby or a doll. This kawaii fashion in Asia make girls look immature and childish. Plus, the german athletes you are talking about are an exception, they do not represent the majority of the population, their bodies are trained specially for activities that you call "manly ", they do not represent the average german woman. So before criticizing people, you should better do your research and actually GO to Germany and SEE WITH YOUR OWN EYES HOW THE AVERAGE GERMAN WOMAN LOOKS before spreading your bullshit, the sport scene do not represent the country.
Sakamaki wrote: "I think a mature and elegant woman is much more attractive than a woman dressed like a baby or a doll" I think you are right. So why does Cathy Cat dress like a baby or a doll? As a German girl who ran away from her native country, Cathy looks *RIDICULOUS* ! I'm sorry but it's true. . .
Erica Rose Again, Cathy Cat is an exception. She dresses like a lolita because it is socially acceptable to dress this way in Japan, and probably because she likes it. But I'm sure that if she goes back to Germany, she'll never wear these clothes because it is kinda frowned upon there, she'll be considered ridiculous in Germany while she's considered cute in Japan.
not gonna lie i very rarely see japanese men having beards, so i guess it’s really a culture thing over there! it’s so interesting cause in the usa i feel like facial hair (that’s well kept) is seen as attractive and like.. manly? to each their own but i like my men with some hair on them (‘:
If you mute the sound during this video, you can hear the hipsters with man buns and lumberjack beards weeping into the sleeves of their flannel shirts. Those ladies sure do talk about wanting to change their prospective partner a lot. Get a large breed dog, become best pals, and trust their instincts!
It has something to do with the sweat glands, very few Japanese (east Asians) people have sweat that smells. So their deodorants are made up differently, they don't contain zink or aluminum that make you sweat less or stem bacteria growth, it's more like just a vague fragrance.
Total *CLICKBAIT* *TITLE* ! Everyone thought the video would be about women's poor hygiene. Men just take a shower, brush their teeth, and put on some clean clothes. What else is there?
Why do you lump having a Beard as bad Hygiene? Beards aren't naturally dirty, and most men wash, comb, and oil their beard during grooming. So why do the people in the video think Beards are bad hygiene?
because ur letting grow somthing that looks scruffy, so if u dont look after that what else dont u look after they cant see? also food mess , drink mess ect.
Lol my beard is always clean and I comb it out but recently I trimmed it so it's smaller. And what I've seen Japanese men cannot grow beards because they end up completely straight like a fu man chu. It's ok. Some women like to stroke beards or snuggle into them. I keep my beard and mustache kempt for my job and also use scented oil to make it smell good..my cheeks and neck are shaved so my face and neck is smooth. Also I have long hair. Isn't it funny how a lot of JRock stars have long hair and women swoon for them. Well I'm a musician, I sing and play guitar. But I would change my appearance for the love of my life. Relationships take sacrifice!
Most man i seen dont take care of it at all , like you do (if you really do that), of their beards it look messy and unsanitary plus it scratch our women sensitive skin ...
Facial hair is fine, and can even look great, if the guy can actually grow it. If it's pathetic wisps of hair around the lip or a beard that looks like mange, man just don't. 😂

I dont get why beards are taken as non clean :(
It's a cultural thing in Japan.
That's where the pigeons build their pigeon's nest.
well, for me beards are men's specialty, it makes men looks more manlier (if that was a word) you know what i mean ?
Even a bit of scruff?
I know its a cultural thing, but why? what happened that made people see beards as a gross thing lol
This is kind of a pointless question....how many people that are considered genuinely attractive have bad hygiene?
It's kind of a question being asked just for fun. Don't read too much into it.
Well, thats hard to answer
Well there was this guy in school that is considered attractive based of all the girls that chased after him...but he uses the same uniform everyday. I know because theres a hole on the side which is kept together with safety pins
I know a few guy friends that fit the bill! Absolute lady killers, don't even have to try but.... smelly AF.

Easy fix girls. Say to the "unhygienic" dude "let's take a bath together".

I started noticing Cathy Cat keeps nodding on her interviews and I can't unsee it.
asiklu that's common in Japanese interviews and shows you are being attentive. It just seems odd in other countries like bowing constantly.

I have heard men say that the ideal woman has very good personal hygiene, and is affectionate. Looks are secondary.

But I'm sure that if she goes back to Germany, she'll never wear these clothes because it is kinda frowned upon there, she'll be considered ridiculous in Germany while she's considered cute in Japan.
2:40 wtf that laugh xdd
not gonna lie i very rarely see japanese men having beards, so i guess it’s really a culture thing over there! it’s so interesting cause in the usa i feel like facial hair (that’s well kept) is seen as attractive and like.. manly? to each their own but i like my men with some hair on them (‘:
Guess I’ll never get a waifu im ugly smell bad and have a beard
If you mute the sound during this video, you can hear the hipsters with man buns and lumberjack beards weeping into the sleeves of their flannel shirts. Those ladies sure do talk about wanting to change their prospective partner a lot. Get a large breed dog, become best pals, and trust their instincts!
Are you promoting Beastiality?
Maurice W no, but it`s funny that your mind went straight for that. I was referring to the fact that they are great judges of a person's character.
TreeFriar r u promonting having someone/something at ur sid dat wunt let u down???????
Corrupted Reptile you hit the nail on the head!
You sound lonely.
I like handsome boys too
2:20uhmmm she just saw a handsome guy
I Love you Cathy Cat 😘 Like
So cute!!
Why doesn't japanese deodorant work on foreign men?
It's too weak.
Maybe not enough alcohol in it?
It has something to do with the sweat glands, very few Japanese (east Asians) people have sweat that smells. So their deodorants are made up differently, they don't contain zink or aluminum that make you sweat less or stem bacteria growth, it's more like just a vague fragrance.
Thanks for the replies, especially to Henrik :)
Total *CLICKBAIT* *TITLE* !
Everyone thought the video would be about women's poor hygiene.
Men just take a shower, brush their teeth, and put on some clean clothes. What else is there?
Bro, the name of the channel is *Ask Japanese*. That's your own fault.
Mich X,
NEWS FLASH: women can be slobs, dirty, and poor hygiene too. It's not just men!
I do not think is on purpose. Director-sam makes some grammatical mistakes from time to time.
I didn't view it that way, especially with the thumbnail.
Erica Rose you're right
Why do you lump having a Beard as bad Hygiene? Beards aren't naturally dirty, and most men wash, comb, and oil their beard during grooming. So why do the people in the video think Beards are bad hygiene?
because it cultural thing and eastern beauty standard not same as western lolz
because ur letting grow somthing that looks scruffy, so if u dont look after that what else dont u look after they cant see? also food mess , drink mess ect.
If you wash and comb it, you miss out on the snacks that are in your beard.
Facial hair is fine, and can even look great, if the guy can actually grow it. If it's pathetic wisps of hair around the lip or a beard that looks like mange, man just don't. 😂
😱
Old spice is great I recommend
