Until recently I was never interested in boats, but through several UA-cam videos, including yours, I became interested in sailing. I've seen all your sailboat videos lately and today was the day, I bought my first sailboat. And quite coincidentally A Hurley 20 ft. I think it should have been like that. I also have no sailing experience whatsoever. I wanted to thank you for your nice and inspiring videos, keep it up and I'm going to enjoy my sailboat now. ⛵️ Kind regards, Dennis Aretz
Although I watched episode 4 first, i must admit I loved your mistakes. I have learnt more from your first four videos than what I learnt from watching the experts.
Great job! doing a safety check of equipment before starting off. The time well spent with your pops is the best thing of all. As a father we really love that the most of all.
My dad and I are in the same "boat"..lol..he always talked about how cool it would be to sail, soooo I got a Victoria 18 and we learned a bit. Then I traded for a Spirit 23 with a large cabin and a much more capable vessel. This summer we break her in. Your videos are very good.
I started the same way. I bought a 1977 20ft Bayliner Buccaneer (BU200) 22yrs ago for $500, in Orlando FL, left for dead under a tree near a retention pond and full of water and I didn't know anything about boats or sailing... So, I bought a book and it's a great read: Sailing For Dummies (by Peter and JJ Isler) - you read that and you'll both be experts. Then I had to wire the boat, and didn't know anything about that either, so I bought another book: Sailboat Electrics Simplified, by Don Casey (you'll be an expert on wiring and such after reading that). He has a series of great maintenance books. Anyway, your videos are great, Keep at it. Cheers.
great video and story telling. on the hun myself for a small boat so nice to see another that not a 50ft cat in the Caribbean channel. Look forward to the next installment
This is amazing ! not the sailing or boat, but the chemistry between you two and that you are doing this together. I have bought a Jaguar 25 at similar time as you and last year was my first season. I know what you guys going through while learning to sail. How often you get out sailing ?
I am at this stage in my process, tho I did take lessons in 2021. Have now looked at 12 or 22 boats and coming close to making a decision on the 'right one' or at least the right one for now.
Hey guys love your videos, found you casually a couple of weeks ago, I have an Hurley 20 as well, rescued her last July after more than a decade of neglect!! Slowly getting her back to life!! where do you sail? If you haven't done it yet (videos are taken before winter break) I would suggest some of the RYA books, and keep it going, sailing is awesome. Fair wind
Hi nice to see another video, just one thing on the recovery. Don't put on your trust in the trailer handbrake, after a while.of sitting after getting wet they rust and slip or seize on, we have always found having a couple of rocks behind the tyres is a good plan. Obviously not so bad in fresh water as salt like like we are used to but still worth a thought. Looking forward to the next episode
Would love to hear how the sailing is going or better yet see an update video. I just started sailing also this past year and can relate to how your first time went. It’s so great your getting to do that with your Dad.
Hi just loving your videos and reminds me of when we all tried this out at first. well done to you both forethought is the key and then stick to the plan, well done
Just come across your video, and it was great mate I’ve always dreamed of owning a boat and hope I do get one latter in life. Keep up the good work on the videos
Glad I stumbled across these videos . Brilliant viewing. I'm thinking of doing exactly the same (since lockdown) can I ask how much did you pay for the boat and what hp was your electric outboard ?
I would choose a bilge keeler too: A lot of harbours dry out here and much better for running aground on sand banks at the wrong time of tide. They might be seen as plodders, but that is no bad thing either. It was a shame about the "free" boat, but I think you have a great boat there; apart from when the sails broke, lol. As well as Keep turning left, have you ever seen Second Chance Sailing. Sadly the are no longer making vids, but they are quite good vids on cheap sailing.
Hi, these videos are great. what you have done is what i have been thinking of doing. even looking at a 21ft snapdragon thats stored in the water. i have never sailed. can i ask how you learnt what ropes do what as always think the sails part looks so complicated.... i may have a lesson but wonder if i should buy and just spend time on it while its moored up...... did you use any guides.... thanks
You are learn to sail, ok.... But you already now how to make videos. Hilarious and really well done. Didn´t you think about hire a teacher? Just for a few pratical classes... (let´s make the learnig curve easier). All the best.
Do you know the type of boat that we dug out? Let us know
A pond liner?
Looks like it could be a kid's playhouse with a bit of work!
I was thinking wow you turned that heap of junk into the boat you have now ...amazing! ......oh hang on 😂
Your story telling is hilarious, I had a really good laugh at the handle throwing and you old mans expression, priceless.
This has become my favorite UA-cam series

I love it. Brits use cars to haul sailboats and chainsaws to cut thorn bushes lol. You guys are awesome!
Nice one guys, getting there. Next week, magnet fishing for the furling handle! Those things are rarer than hens teeth….. Andy UK
Brilliant, I've just bought the same boat, I've never sailed either,
Hope you both are ok and still sailing. please post new videos, I like the lack of experience view.
How fun! Keep up the great work and stay safe out there

The most British comment when something isnt going to plan. “Il make a brew shall i” haha solves everything.

So relatable to my first 3 times sailing! Laughing the whole time because I was in the same situations.

the look on your dads face, right, over the side you go, go get it.😂😂😂😂
The best decription I can think of to describe sailing "Hours of boredom followed by moments of sheer panic".
Please publish episode 4? I honestly think this is how I will learn sailing as well.
Hi just loving your videos and reminds me of when we all tried this out at first. well done to you both forethought is the key and then stick to the plan, well done
