Fun Fact: I wrote this video almost a year ago, and I kept having to re-write it as more stuff kept happening lol Anyways, thanks for watching, and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE!! And drink your water!! 💦
Mine too, I was thinking about buying Nintendo Switch Sports, but the lack of Miis, the game having less content than Wii Sports Resort, and the game looking less fun really breaks the deal. I look at Switch Sports and it borderline looks like a 3rd party knock off of Wii Sports and I never liked the Sportsmates. I wanted Nintendo to make a sequel to Nintendo Land, but after seeing how badly they botched Switch Sports, then forget it!
God I wish more Nintendo fans were like you. Even watching this video pisses me off just cuz so many dumbasses think they gonna get a better game if they just cry about it enough. Pisses me off even more cuz there is so much better stuff out there, but dumbass Nintendo fans can't see anything that doesn't get a 3 minute spotlight on Nintendo Direct as being any good. Then one decent game comes out and suddenly it's like Nintendo has always been a saint of gaming.
It’s always shocked me how soulful Miis actually feel. It shouldn’t be the case with the various polygonal presets you make them with. But they just nailed something there, they feel like such an organic and perfect addition to the Wii’s whole thing
If I were not already familiar with the game, someone could tell me that this was a garbage shovelware game made by a no-name 3rd party company trying to capitalize off of the popularity of Wii Sports, and I wouldn't bat an eye.
I miss Woohoo Island. Such a lush and tranquil place, and the fact that so many games in the Wii/3DS era used it as a setting made it all the more endearing. The setting for this is just... yeah, you put it best, gentrification. Not even some hydration could fix that crumbling, standard whatever it was called.
Exactly, Splatoon is all about freshness and keeping up with the speed of youth culture, and it nails it. There's plenty to at launch still, and a lot of free new content spread out over about 2-3 years. Then a paid, storyline expanding DLC for those who want it.
So many of Nintendo's current games are trying to move to a live service model that really isn't needed... Like a dripfeed of content over time isn't going to keep the playerbase engaged that long unless it's as good as Splatoon, where there is actually a full game supporting all those updates. Mario Strikers Battle League got it the worst: barebones on launch, still barebones to this day (with a little, itty bit of meat).
@@burtun1760 To me it's the "trendy lifestyle" element with fair practices. Updates give a whole new fresh coat of paint to the game that'd directly available for free on launch. Day 1 I can listen to the new song, enjoy the new maps, buy the new weapons and clothes or order them from my friends, if rotation allows it. There's also, on rarer occasions, map changes, splatfest dates, new specials, new modes or new campaign updates to look forward to. And more than fomo, it adds to the lore as well. You play on a bridge that connects the towns of splatoon 1 & 3, on an abandoned space launcher with bear warning that's story relevent to the sequel and other various places that introduce us to inkling's history and change with time. Bands breaking up, do collabs and brands and mascots turn trendy for the season, hence the "lifestyle" part that's constantly refined with each updates. It makes for living breathing universe on constant evolution.
I feel like the sports selection isn’t just bad because half of them are “hit ball over net.” That’s a lot of sports, really, not the game’s fault. The problem kicks in when the previous entries had better ideas. I wouldn’t think that flying a plane with motion controls would be a sport, but clearly it worked. The previous games took ideas that could potentially work with motion controls, and made them work. This game took sports and gave them motion controls.
Say what you want about he Wii u but at least with Wii Fit U and Wii Party U they actually came up with original games, in terms of Wii Party U they came up with original mini games
@@AslgamingOffical I miss the Metroid game from Nintendo Land. I used to absolutely demolish my classmates in that game, until they got enough combined experience to demolish me.
@@MDLuffy1234YT Hell yeah, that metroid game was such a blast. I played it so many times with my friends. We'd dabble in the other minigames too but Metroid was the clear winner and we'd spend ages going through the levels together. Good times
Switch Sports was definitely disappointing. I was looking forward to sharing the Wii experience with my switch friends. Now? Yeah, no I’d rather play Wii Tennis in my room by myself than participate in whatever this “game” is supposed to be.
Same i bought the game played it for like 4 hours (mostly bowling) and to this day havent put the game back in my switch to even update cause i kinda forgot about it, i dont know if that says something about me or the game
I went on a band event once, and me and my roommates, whenever we had downtime, played this because none of us had a Wii and this was the only option. This is literally the only reason this game is somewhat worth your money: if you never had a Wii and don’t know someone who does, and if you wanted to play Wii sports
Agreed - It's passable as a casual game if there's literally nothing else (and also if you don't have any frame of reference for Wii Sports being so much better). It's technically better than having nothing at all to play, but it's not the sort of game that people would really go out of their way to play / wouldn't be #1 on any group's list of games to play if they had ANY other options available. So... Pretty pathetic, overall.
I used to love that mode. I always thought it was so cool I could play with anyone who had a DS even if they didn't have the game. Visit a friend and they don't have Mario kart? No problem, I can share it with DS download. Extremely rare to see that kind of feature anymore
21:13 You're not alone there. I'm sure most of us here, myself included, really miss the days where you would buy a game and have it as a full, completed experience. 'Back in my day' it was a single price for a single game. Nowadays I feel somewhat lucky when a new game I'm excited for manages to be completely finished and I don't have to worry about waiting to be rewarded for my hard work or waiting for necessary content updates.
Honestly, I’ve got like a SUPER high opinion of whoever the people who did the most recent Zelda games. Like, that’s the first time I’ve felt something was actually worth 50+ dollars since Skyrim. Totk just came out so I got botw and my god it feels SO fleshed out. The people making it were actually proud of and lived what they were doing.
I thought DLC would lead to something like having a complete game then having another experience on top of that if you really enjoyed it but it's optional, how naive I was.
Greed happened. Nintendo is loosing connection to their fans. I already lost faith when they ruined animal crossing. Animal crossing was my childhood. They released it unfinished with lack of content from previous entries. And then after a few updates and copy pasting happy home designer as a DLC they dropped it entirely
@@matjp99 Well they didn’t RUIN animal crossing completely, they just…changed. It. TOO. Much. Well…at least i still have my copy of City Folk. Even if my nostalgic villagers and memories have been lost.
@@Aliix458 how is it possible that they release an unfinished game, add updates with content we already had on the 3Ds and then decide to not do any updates anymore even though the game is still not a proper animal crossing game
Sometimes people ask me why I play so many old games. This is why. Not the games being bad, not even that all new games are bad, but the idea of a games a services just leads to nowhere good. HYDRATION
@@coastaku1954 no, we would have been satisfied, we like the Miis and NO ONE wants them gone, if anything we would have celebrated their return and that they stayed the same, we don't want nor need change.
I really wish swimming and surfing were in this. I enjoy participating in both in real-life. They don’t get nearly enough representation in video games. The Mario Olympics is the only sports game of its kind to my knowledge that has featured both. Switch Sports has way too many net sports and needs more variety.
@@mewf2an Yes, I loved that minigame in USUM. I can’t believe I forgot to list it. It is what made me prefer the Ultras over the original versions. Considering Alola is based on Hawaii, it makes sense it would have a surfing minigame.
I remember complaining about how you had to unlock over half of the roster of Smash Ultimate when the game released. Now when I think about it, that doesn't seem so horrible anymore. I could imagine much worse ways of getting all the characters after all these free update games in the recent years.
I liked that you had to unlock the characters in Smash Ultimate. Ultimate was my first Smash game. If the game started with all 70 or so characters, I would have been completely overwhelmed. Because the game started with only 8 characters and I had to slowly unlock the rest, I had plenty of time to try out each one of them.
The wildest truth is the fact of how easy it was to get all trhe characters. no insane challenge, no cryptic untold method, just play the game, and after a certain amount of time (Or World of Light) they become available to unlock
The worst part about everything you said about the customization and unlockables is that you have to play online for them. Ok, but the online isn't free. So you need to pay for the online to get them. So it's all a subscription, you are paying for the items, and you still have to unlock them. So if you don't have internet access or extra money for the online, you get absolutely nothing. And this thing sold well too...
i think the biggest problem with switch sports (as well as 1-2 switch) is that these feel like games that should've been included as a "console purchase set/bundle" but instead they're being sold as stand alone retail games.
Wii Sports Resort sits among my favorite games ever, I’ve played each of the 12 sports for hours on end. As soon as I heard switch sports was coming out, I was super excited. Then I saw the characters and all excitement went away immediately
The part where you mentioned FOMO items is the one I felt the most. And not only in this game, nowadays every game is doing the same: battlepasses, time limited events, shop rotations. Everything is about keeping the players at specific times because if they miss it then they may not get that specific item anymore and can't unlock it later. That's artificial player retention, players are there to grind for something they fear they will lose forever instead of being there because it's fun. If player retention amd replayability is not organic then it feels like a chore. Every modern game does the same.
So real, I loved Monster Hunter World for that, a seasonal holiday would return following year. Collaborations were all permanent. Except one tied to an amusment park but a year later permanent.
Yep. This is why i'm not really playing splatoon 3 right now. :( It's hard to get back into because if i do i get that FOMO about the catalogue, and i just don't want to have to do that. It's tiring. :((
@@squishishI was actually gonna mention splatoon. It seems like all the catalogue items are gonna just repeat in sets at various levels throughout the rest of the catalogues, since this months’ is just different past rewards. That gear also shows up in the phone app sometimes, so you’re not technically ever locked out of it. I missed the tentaclinger earring so I’m just waiting for it to show up again.
@@iversiafanatic Sure, but it's still more limited in that aspect, which i personally find annoying and off putting. 😔 I'm glad there are at least some other ways to get it, but they don't make up for what is, imo, a purposefully implemented FOMO machine to force daily player engagement. Not great. :(
Remember the fun hats you could put on your Miis on the 3DS? I don't know either, maybe they thought they needed to look 'newer' or it had something to do with their weird battlepass rollout
I think they want to move on, keep evolving and leave the miis as part of the Wii era and maybe have them back but as a bonus feature. Problem is, they forgot to add something good as replacement
got nothing else to add except: love how entertaining, informative and well-made your videos are. like they're so good they make me remember how important hydration is
@@internetguy7319 no way that the _majority_ of this game's sales come from the uk there are, like, five times as many people in the us as the uk also, one of the best selling nintendo games _ever_ in the uk? that seems unlikely
@juliannocartagena2007 this game wouldn't have gotten as much flack if Nintendo made it its own series rather than making it a sequel to Wii Sports but its "Wii Sports at home."
When i first saw the sportsmates, the game in general, i thought it looked soulless. Especially the fucking sportsmates. I really don't like their designs. Figured it would still be alright, since Nintendo's good at making these kinds of games. I haven't played it, and quite frankly, after everything i've heard about it, not just in this vid, i have no intention of buying it
what made wii sports so loved was how simple and easy to understand it was. The miis were part of its personality because they were simple and you could customize them. All the sports in wii sports had their own personality. Personally i would love playing bowling and baseball and in real life i know nothing about those sports
I think it's really weird how they made an entire map and even had lore in the loading screen tips yet we never got a proper overworld for whatever reason..?
I also miss the progression system from wii sports and wii sports resort, where you keep facing harder and harder levels until you face the champion, and beating them gives you a cool cosmetic
You know, I was on the switch sports hate train, but I gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised, I'm of course still very much weirded out by the lack of content, but when we grabbed a couple friends we had a blast playing volleyball, tennis, and golf together All to say I actually bought a copy because of the fun we had that night, and I'm excited to continue playing
@@anarkuucontinuing to enjoy it when I've got buddies, playing solo golf, bowling, and tennis is fun, but volleyball partners can be an issue so I prefer to have someone around
Most people that hate this game never even gave it a second of play time. The game is definitely lacking compared to previous releases, but this game is anything but soulness. Online is very fun, and all the cosmetics for the switch avatars and miis are very cool. Unfortunately this game just needed more updates and more support to win old fans over, but Nintendo just let it go.
Nintendo Switch Sports is a game I wish I liked and was made with passion. The graphics are good, the customization options look cool, *SOME* sports are fun, the Sportsmates look fine on their own, but they just fumbled the bag.
All they needed to do was remake wii sports resort add games from the other wii games like wii play and wii music And make you able to travel around wuhu island (basically like botw but your map is your menu for selecting the game directly but if you wanted to run around the island with dialog games ect thats not available from the menu you could)
My dream Wii Sports game is an “open-world” style where I can roam Wuhu Island and the surrounding isles as my Mii, it having all the sports from the previous games plus more, like surfing and swimming, and it having the original NPC Miis like Matt and the rest.
That sounds so cool. I love Wuhu Island and it feels like there's a whole quest or story waiting there to be explored which would be so fun; playing a low adventure and quests with your Mii. Plus they could implement more customization options in the game as well (by that I just mean more hairstyles or colours cause that's the only flaw of the Miis)
This is the issue with media companies becoming too big. They started by making genuinely good content but slowly stopped worrying about that. They realized that if they tried to, instead of making good content, trick you into giving them money, they would make more money. It happened with Disney. it's starting to happen with Nintendo. They are banking on nostalgia and half-baked products to make more money because people trust them. The worst thing is that it works. Let's just hope people at Nintendo realize that they need to change something, or else this company may just be digging itself a grave.
@fishyfishyfishy500akabs8 If people start getting smarter and realize that maybe the game isn't as good as it's made out to be, Nintendo may start going down. Sure, it might be slow, but everything gets corroded by the internet, so Nintendo making bad games is just speeding up that process.
@@StarBeam500 if blizzard didnt burn down and diablo4 got lots of people playing it then nintendo has nothing to fear ea and activision have been making the same awful games for decades and they are still afloat
It's funny when people say things like that. You act like the WIi wasn't a $50 add on to a GC repackaged in a $250 box. It was blatantly old tech that Nintendo overpriced at launch to make a quick buck. Companies have always been about profit. You may have been younger to not really realize this, but God Nintendo had such blatant cash grabs back in the Wii days as well. Not all of the games were blatant cash grabs back then, but they had just as many scummy games back then as they do now.
17:51 this was actually kind of the case for Mario Kart DS; the host of DS Download Play would be able to pick their own character, but every downloading player that did not have the Mario Kart DS game chip were forced to play as Shy Guy
From someone who’s never played switch sports, it looks like a game with half a soul. It wanted to become something big, but just never was quite fully realized and never got there.
All they had to do was keep Wuhu Island It was literally a staple of the wii series, even during the 3ds and wii u era Yet they replaced it with the most bland area ever
so true!! Games being half-done and pushed out are upsetting, I really miss when big company published games had a finishing and polishing standard before being shipped out instead of relying on internet patches :( Also, LOVE the use of Ace Attorney in your vid! and we love hydration!
I fully 100% agree with the accessibility point. I've had arthritis in my right (dominant) elbow since I was in elementary school due to an injury that both dislocated and fractured it. While I don't have an official diagnosis, my family and I think it *might* be degenerative due to the pain being far worse now than it was years ago, and I'm planning on speaking to my doctor about it at some point, but I'm not 100% sure. Active motion, or zero motion at all sometimes, can lead to intense pain that'll more or less make my arm unusable. I would be in pain after just a few minutes of playing something like this.
1:00 there's so many game modes that there's literally 24 SPORTS in Wii Sports Resort. Same logic in Switch Sports gets 7 with 100 Pin Bowling and 8 with Golf. 3 completely different sports feel extremely similar, and the game feels more generalized and boring.
The only replayable content stems from the unlockable outfits for your dollar store vtuber characters They barely innovated And like the only thing you can do is play the game slightly more or less well, no rewards for being quirky about your playstyle
I can't explain it but my biggest problem is with this game is how stiff it feels, like it doesn't make much sense but I feel like I'm playing as toys in a miniature world rather then actual humans
Kirby: Star Allies wasn't a "fix it later" case. That implies the extra content was planned before the game had even finished yet. This is a myth that UA-camrs like Arlo perpetuated based on no research of their own. In reality, they'd began planning and developing the extra content AFTER the base game had finished. You can say whatever you like about how short the base game was (even though there's more to modern Kirby games than the Story Mode), and yes, it was disappointing when compared to Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. However, while the free updates did remedy this issue, the goal was to celebrate the series in its entirety by bringing in playable characters from past games and turn it into more of an anniversary event akin to Sonic Generations (since this would be the last mainline entry before making a fully 3D one). To my knowledge, none of the extra modes they added in these updates were already included in the game files, like in Mario Battle League Football where the absence of characters like Daisy were manufactured from the beginning.
17:50 Kinda funny to think about since this did happen with MK7 on the 3DS, where other players in local play could only play as shy guy and can't listen to race course music.
Helping with the algorithm is some really good hydration~ Ngl I kinda forgot this game exists a month after it released, which is a massive shame cus I still sometimes think about wii sports resort I'm glad I didnt buy it or Scarlet Violet.. On the Splatoon 3 bit, you can atleast get the clothes by seeing someone wearing it around the plaza but thats obvs pretty random. Also yeah no luck for any of the other stuff... Oh also yeah, the sportsmates look like they're something Mark Zuckerburg would put out /distain
Not the catalog-exclusive clothes though. Those are greyed out just like the Amiibo gear as far as I've seen. Only gear that's in the catalog but not exclusive to it like basic shirts you can also find in the normal shops can be ordered.
Maybe to coexist with a new avatar. If Nintendo ever does make new avatar characters they should at least give them more anime features with advanced customization. Nintendo should also feature the advanced customization from Miitopia Switch for the Miis in a next gen console. Still take this with a grain of salt.
*Hydration* Man this video speaks to me cause I was JUST talking to someone with how greedy game Devs got paying 30 bucks for the rest of the game should be considered a crime (I'm being hyperbolic) I miss having buying the game be the endpoint and that's it. And spending another 30 for stuff that should be unlocked, yeah. What happened to unlocking things? What happened to rewarding the player with extra gameplay functions or characters and modes? I remember playing sly cooper and getting to play the strongest character in the game Carmelita fox and it kept me busy for ages. I already knew this era of gaming sucked but it's nice to have that echoed back to me.
I bought Switch Sports with the mindset that it'd be just like Wii Sports/Resort if not, better but was shocked to find out how desolate it was in comparison. It honestly devastated me, I don't know if it was my nostalgia tinted glasses, the game itself or a bit of both, but omfg lmao.
Though I enjoy Switch Sports, I understand and agree with your points. You articulated them very well. A sequel to Wii Sports had so much potential and although Switch Sports is fine in my book, there are a lot of fundamental issues that I wish weren't there. You have my like! Also, I'm a big fan of all the Ace Attorney references and music throughout the video ;)
You make a surprisingly good amount of points here, especially at the end when talking about how people just buy stuff anyways. It’s clear you know what your talking about and that’s why I just subscribed.
This is why I am slowly walking out the door on gaming as a whole, as it is too corporate. Seventy USD for the shell of the title then three months later / day one DLC is already there or purchase the one hundred fifty gold / platinum edtion for everything that is coming later. Then a year or two later the deluxe edtion comes for half the price which is what tye full title should had been three / four years ago at launch. I am definitely going to need some hydration after this direction of where the gaming industry is going as I have limited time and I do nkt want to wait three months just see if my favorite weapon / gear "clothing" was added into splatoon three or not while the whole season can be explored within a week or less.
Glad someone decided to make a full analysis on this game. I didn’t buy any of the Mario spinoffs for Switch (outside of MK8DX), but I did buy this. You described how I felt about the game, the custom outfits were fun at first but then the game became monotonous. I might consider selling it since I’m not gonna play it anymore, wish we just got a Wii Sports Resorts port instead.
I wonder how long the trend of "release it now, fix it later" will go on for Nintendo. I'll excuse it for Smash since there were plenty of dudes beforehand, but why does Switch Sports, the alleged successor, only get 7 sports? I'm glad you're telling subs to maintain hydration. I try to tell my friends the same.
😭 the sports mates are cursed you made the right call going for the mii. ty for the interesting video. this really makes me miss wii sports/resort and the good times i used to have playing with family. if i cry bcs of this im going to need some hydration
Your point about guests having to play as Shyguy in Mario kart is kinda funny cuz that's exactly what happened in Mario kart DS when you used DS download play lmao. I hope that was intentional cuz it was a good reference
Switch Sports was actually the first game that filled me with so much disappointment and regret for buying it that I deleted it from not only my switch but also my cloud saves. And I waited two weeks after release for my pre order to be delivered so that stung even more. *Hydration*
The mention of accessibility options is one rarely said, and I appreciate it. I have motor issues in my wrists that makes some games prohibitively difficult for me. I've 100%'d Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which involved me finding my own ways of playing the game that aren't the most optimal but are more "safe" for my hands locking up from tensing up anxiously. Eg: Dodging backwards from Owl's smokescreen instead of through it, because I panic at the timing of it too much. You wanna know what the biggest thing that helped me was though? Being able to rebind my buttons so that I can make my own control scheme that is the most comfortable for my fingers, making it that much easier to get better at the controls as a whole. You know who never lets you turn off music or adjust volume sliders, rebind buttons, or basically change ANY settings that could possibly help with accessability? Every single Nintendo game I've ever played. This is honestly one of the biggest reasons I'm thinking about just waiting on being able to emulate TLOZ:Tears of the Kingdom, because mods fix a lot of Nintendo's jank for people like me.
Astro, your joycon probably isn’t registering properly and that might why you don’t like this game (especially golf). I’ve never had any problems with the motions. When you master the controls this game is very competitive and does have a competitive scene. I have 600 hours in switch sports and it just keeps getting better. It was better received in Japan and most of the competitive soccer/tennis/golf/chambara players are there
If his golf swings are that buggy it's definitely a joycon issue, I've never seen anything like that. But I agree the controls are probably the best they've ever been in the series, especially since devs said in an interview that they focused on the motions feeling good rather than realistic
In short, the problem is more about the joycons, who are quite inconsistent as controls. Still a nintendo problem, but not for the reasons he thinks. I for my part don't really mind motion controls for a simple reason: I mess from time to time random actions as even with regular controls, and so it's just a different way of controlling stuff.
Your rant at the end about how terrible the game industry is lately is so true but so depressing. I've been saying it for years, and it never fails to bring down my mood.
This game would've been 10x more popular if they didn't waste time and resources into making whatever the hell the "sportsmates" are supposed to be. The Miis were already there ffs.
I remember star allies update but I'm still wondering what part of it was supposed to be finished??? All of those updates were just bonus characters that had no impact on the story...unless I missed something in story mode, if so catch me up on that
@@NickMario1 Fair tbh Honestly that mode was one that did surprise me at least since it wasnt leaked unlike the wave 2 & 3 characters were Its a good mode but feels like a lil nice lil bonus but did like the super hard boss rush it came with it i always go back for that. So let's see: - Nintendo Switch Sports was announced, and already from the trailer, Golf (a sport that was there since day one in Wii Sports, Sports Resorts and even Sports Club) was announced as a free update; - The game came out, and the add-on leg strap accessory wasn't even functional day one and had to be fixed through another update, three months AFTER the release; - They had to delay the Golf update release from fall to the holiday season for reasons unknown; - Up until the June 2024 Direct, there were no known future updates to this game, with the first major update of this game being released 7 MONTHS after the game was released not counting the delay, with no known roadmap, and that's discounting the one in which they had to fix the leg strap accessory that came bundled with the game; - And now they added basketball to the game. A whopping 2 YEARS after the game's release, for an inferior version of a sport that was included day one in Wii Sports Resort back in 2009. Meaning that thus far, both of the supposed "new sports" included in the updates the game has received are just sports that were there day one in both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. - And apparently, get this, basketball was datamined a MONTH before the game was released, along with dodgeball. So uhhh, yeah, see y'all in 2026 if (not when, IF) they're gonna add that... And yet this game somehow still sold over 10 million copies SMH
22:22 the irony here being Tears of the Kingdom had no updated content. Sure there were patches, but in general the game that exists today is the game that launched.
I can't believe it's been a year since I played this lmao.. it was frustrating, like you couldn't even progress in bowling unless you had a perfect score. They polished it and made it look great, but all of the character, substance and fun were removed
My only experience with Wii Sports was the free first game packaged with your brand new Wii, and even I could tell how this game was taking some sort of piss. Games really do need to be in their best shape from release, because one day we won't _get_ to update these games anymore, but actual longevity is far from the minds making these decisions, and I don't mean by making games into live services. Really, the Wii U era phased in Nintendo's weird fondness for half-baking certain titles, maybe even present since Mario Party 9 on the Wii! Funny thing, this vid showed a closing Toys R Us, and Chibi Robo: Zip Lash with the amiibo was the last thing I bought from their emptied shelves. I remembered crying after leaving, in need of some hydration. Yes, that happened.
Bought this for my Daughter for Christmas 2022. We played it for about 2 weeks it got boring fast. Been collecting dust on the shelf ever since. We still play Wii Sports Resort to this day.

The way you described how guests cant use your unlocks reminds me of metroid prime hunters. Any of your friends who don't have the game can download a mini version of the game that lats them only play as samus. So tou can play any of the characters but a friend is locked to samus (they could still use all the weapon pickups) also: if you're reading this, drinks some water, *hydration* is important.
I’ve been working on an hour+ Wii Series retrospective video and I’m so worried to cover this game. I love the Wii Series so much and it was mostly for its charm. And NSSports had none of it.
I completely agree on everything except that volleyball is actually my favorite game. I might be slightly biased because I play it irl but the game actually has more intricacies and strategy than you gave it credit for. You can do slide attacks, perfect serves quick attacks as you mentioned, block timing and receiver positioning is more complex than it seems in high elo, and more
"made half-finished and sent out to die." I honestly never bought it cos it just didn't grab my interest like Wii Sports did. and now seeing this, it feels like it /should/ be free with the online with how little it delivers for the series.

Yeah! There is a reason miyamoto took 20 years to create miis
I still can't believe Nintendo made a Wii Sports ripoff when they own Wii Sports.

it feels like a lot of games miss what made Splatoon's updates good
what made it good?
Exactly, Splatoon is all about freshness and keeping up with the speed of youth culture, and it nails it. There's plenty to at launch still, and a lot of free new content spread out over about 2-3 years. Then a paid, storyline expanding DLC for those who want it.
Even splatoon missed it.

It's technically better than having nothing at all to play, but it's not the sort of game that people would really go out of their way to play / wouldn't be #1 on any group's list of games to play if they had ANY other options available. cause thats a game and not a tech demo as a game cart
I loved unlocking characters. It made player the game alone fun, like I was accomplishing something.

To quote a popular man about this situation:
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!??
The only replayable content stems from the unlockable outfits for your dollar store vtuber characters
They barely innovated
And like the only thing you can do is play the game slightly more or less well, no rewards for being quirky about your playstyle
I can't explain it but my biggest problem is with this game is how stiff it feels,
like it doesn't make much sense but I feel like I'm playing as toys in a miniature world rather then actual humans
22:02 Even the new Zelda has gacha balls. It's over lads.

It was better received in Japan and most of the competitive soccer/tennis/golf/chambara players are there
There’s a soccer and volleyball competitive scene, although the worst is Chambara because of the amount of lag and weird hits or blocks
God the editing at 0:36 of the ToTK trailer music into the Wii Sports music was PERFECT
Your rant at the end about how terrible the game industry is lately is so true but so depressing. I've been saying it for years, and it never fails to bring down my mood.
14:21 i decided to add my own lyrics to sing when the song started playing
This game would've been 10x more popular if they didn't waste time and resources into making whatever the hell the "sportsmates" are supposed to be. The Miis were already there ffs.
God damn bro. Good video. Talking ish, talking about games I like. Where have you been in my feed?
16:34 I think the Splatoon 3 devs should read this statement, because they're falling in the same hole as this game.
Not having Baseball in Switch Sports killed any level of excitement I had.
I remember star allies update but I'm still wondering what part of it was supposed to be finished???
All of those updates were just bonus characters that had no impact on the story...unless I missed something in story mode, if so catch me up on that
I think another dimension added some to the story
@@NickMario1 Fair tbh Honestly that mode was one that did surprise me at least since it wasnt leaked unlike the wave 2 & 3 characters were
Its a good mode but feels like a lil nice lil bonus but did like the super hard boss rush it came with it i always go back for that.
But overall felt like a complete game compared to other stuff like sports,Mario golf& strikers if that makes sense even if i have some issues with SA.
So let's see:
- Nintendo Switch Sports was announced, and already from the trailer, Golf (a sport that was there since day one in Wii Sports, Sports Resorts and even Sports Club) was announced as a free update;
- The game came out, and the add-on leg strap accessory wasn't even functional day one and had to be fixed through another update, three months AFTER the release;
- They had to delay the Golf update release from fall to the holiday season for reasons unknown;
- Up until the June 2024 Direct, there were no known future updates to this game, with the first major update of this game being released 7 MONTHS after the game was released not counting the delay, with no known roadmap, and that's discounting the one in which they had to fix the leg strap accessory that came bundled with the game;
- And now they added basketball to the game.
As of March 31st, 2023, Nintendo Switch Sports has sold 9.6 million copies.
Whats SMH?
@@Quarckster I think it means “so much hate” or something like that.
@@juliannocartagena2007It actually means "shaking my head"
As a massive Ace Attorney fan, the music choices are impeccable
22:22 the irony here being Tears of the Kingdom had no updated content. Sure there were patches, but in general the game that exists today is the game that launched.
I actually kind of forgot that I owned this game until I saw this video in my notifications. Still waiting for basketball and boxing.
Is it bad that I would prefer a game like Wii Sports club much more than the circus act of Nintendo Switch Sports?
2 Years later update: THE WANNABE MIIS ARE FUCKIN’ BALLIN’!
Bought this for my Daughter for Christmas 2022. We played it for about 2 weeks it got boring fast. Been collecting dust on the shelf ever since. We still play Wii Sports Resort to this day.
the sword showdown mode actually already is its own game, it's called No More Heroes
9:04 “The putter is more sensitive than a Sonic the Hedgehog fan if you say the werewolf game is kinda mid.”
You’re right…
because I AM THAT FAN!!!
Well, at least they went and made a VIDEO GAME with TOTK. That’s where all the soul went.
I mean, it's a DLC.
Why compare a sports game with an open-world adventure game?
Crazy time to be alive: almost having dodgeball in wiisports
As a fighting game fan, specifically a snk fan, I’m always reminded video games only exist because of gambling machines. This media has given us some amazing pieces of art, but unfortunately… it was never about that. Also GAA slaps l
The Octopath music is going so hard in the background that I can't focus on what you're saying. XD
The way you described how guests cant use your unlocks reminds me of metroid prime hunters. Any of your friends who don't have the game can download a mini version of the game that lats them only play as samus. So tou can play any of the characters but a friend is locked to samus (they could still use all the weapon pickups) also: if you're reading this, drinks some water, *hydration* is important.
i didn't even know it was possible to have everything unlocked in splatoon. you are truly impressive
I’ve been working on an hour+ Wii Series retrospective video and I’m so worried to cover this game. I love the Wii Series so much and it was mostly for its charm. And NSSports had none of it.
Just be honest and you should be fine
Don't forget Wii music 👍🎸🎶
I completely agree on everything except that volleyball is actually my favorite game. I might be slightly biased because I play it irl but the game actually has more intricacies and strategy than you gave it credit for. You can do slide attacks, perfect serves quick attacks as you mentioned, block timing and receiver positioning is more complex than it seems in high elo, and more
"made half-finished and sent out to die." I honestly never bought it cos it just didn't grab my interest like Wii Sports did. and now seeing this, it feels like it /should/ be free with the online with how little it delivers for the series. Seems like the Fire Emblem Heroes or Mario Kart Tour of Wii Sports
This might be your funniest video yet, consistent quality jokes. Keep it up!
