The Wii was my first Nintendo console, although for some reason I got it right before the Wii U released..., instead of just that 😭(It wasn't backwards compatible either, since I got the Family Edition)
Hey, me too! I was really annoyed to find out it couldn't play GameCube games; I was really looking forward to being able to play Pokemon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness.
Actually, the Wii disc drive (well, the GameCube compatible ones, anyway) can actually read and play DVD videos, but Nintendo didn't feel like paying DVD FLLC royalties for the logo on the box of every Wii. Nintendo just disabled the feature in the Wii menu but you can use homebrew to get it to work
To play the DVD’s you need to homebrew your Wii and download WiiMC. WiiMC is a media player for the wii and you can play videos on it. Insert a supported DVD disc into the console and browse the video files you want to play.
The "Everybody Votes Channel" could of easily inspired a huge part of Splatoon, being Splatfests. Dogs vs. Cats was an actual theme, being the first in North America and 6th in Europe.
7:47 honestly as a kid I used to be completely freaked out whenever the screen where it says that the game cant be read I got freaked out because it was black with white text and honestly today it’s still kind of creepy😅

I still have my launch edition Wii with the stand. I never noticed the Logo was changed in later models to be horizontal! I love the GameCube emulation & controller ports. It's kind of weird that the adult games are on the GameCube mostly.
Fun fact: GameCube is not even getting emulated, it's running native in GameCube Mode, which is just restricting Wii Hardware to GameCube Hardware basically
when i was like 4 or 5 i broke my wii sports resort disc, homebrewed my wii u when i was 10, got the game back some time later, swapped the environment to aroma about a month ago, and am now mad that 1: wii sports resort randomly disappeared from my home menu (cant even use tiramisu sigpatcher to play it, the icon is just GONE), and its also not on nusspli :(

From top to bottom (in the diagram anyways) it goes 4, 3, 2, 1. So, the top (4) + bottom (1) being 5, then 6 being 4+2, and 7 being 4+2+1 (because 4+3 would be same light symbol for 2nd Player). But here's the issue... Player 8, it could have been 4 (top light) + 3 (second from top) + 1 (bottom). But instead... no clue on why or how it's just the two center dots. It could have been done to denote Fin/End/Complete, to say that there won't be similar continuation to be 9 and more players but uh... yeah how about just doing 8 as 4+3+1 and calling it a day???
