Thanks Doc for that advice...sleeping on stomach is a no no. Best to sleep on the your right, with right hand on your cheek. Dont put pressure on your heart. Prophetic guidance from Islam.
Thanks so much! I've been having trouble with an old rotator cuff injury, and now, thanks to you, I understand why! Though always mostly a side-sleeper I've to sleep on my back, but I now realize it's more than worth it to learn to make it my main position. Your advice us deeply appreciated.
1) nobody sleeps 6-8 hours in one position. we change them min every 40mins 2) in deep sleep state one doesn't have an awareness of one's position and hence wouldn't now if it should be corrected or not.
Exactly.. I've never in my life fallen asleep on my stomach, but I've awoken in that position many a time! Always with my head turned to the left! And yes, my neck is stiff a few hours, but I wasn't aware of how I turn over in my sleep!
This video has put into perspective some shoulder and arm problems I'd been having for a year or so, in addition to numb fingers randomly and in the morning. Since sleeping on my back, my neck feels better, fingers have stopped going numb, and the same side shoulder is increasing in flexibility, decreasing in tightness.
Craig Pick I guess he thinks we can have someone stay up all night to watch what happens to our body and all the positions that happen? Then wake wake us up to correct us?

You should start going to a subluxation therapy chiropractor and get a nice temperpedic Mattress and nice pillows. Subluxation chiropractic therapy has completely changed my life. I went from being in constant extreme pain to being in the best shape of my life completely pain free all the time. I had a bad back injury in high school then re-injured it when I was 25 and never thought I would feel this good again. It’s like the injury never happened
A SUGGESTION FOR ALL THAT WAS NOT EXPRESSED BY ANYONE THAT I SAW IN THE COMMENTS. A FEW YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING STOMACH ACID ISSUES. MY DOCTOR WANTED ME TO SIT STRAIGHT UP IN BED IN A "L" POSITION. I MODIFIED IT BY PUTTING 3 PILLOWS AGAINST THE HEADBOARD AT A SLANTING ANGLE. THE 3RD. PILLOW THAT WAS AGAINST MY BACK & NECK WAS SOFTER AND MORE PLIABLE SO I BENT IT TO SUPPORT MY NECK AND IT WAS VERY COMFORTABLE. THIS HELPED MY INDIGESTION BUT THE MAIN CHANGE THAT I NOTICED. THAT I REALLY LIKED, WAS THAT ONCE I FELL ASLEEP, I RARELY MOVED ALL NIGHT. PREVIOUSLY, I TOSSED AND TURNED A LOT ALL NIGHT AND I DID HAVE THE NUMBING OF ARMS AND HANDS. NO MORE. JUST GIVE IT A TRY FOR A FEW NIGHTS AND SEE IF IT CUTS DOWN ON THE ANNOYING TOSSING AND TURNING AND NUMBING OF ARMS AND HANDS. IT SURELY SHOULD HELP SOME OF YOU. WORTH A TRY !!!

Dr u are 100% correct with yr info even though some ignorant ppl are mocking u. IGNORE THEM!!!! I am a muslim i follow Islam and guess what???? My Religion discourages sleeping on yr stomach to the point where it is narrated in Hadith God despises this sleeping position. Now interestingly yr a non muslim doctor but are endorsing what my beautiful Religion has taught us 1400 years ago!!!!! #RESPECT ISLAM!
I used to sleep exclusively on my stomach and couldn’t fall asleep unless I was in that position. Then I read something interesting. The reason sleeping on my stomach felt so good is because of the pressure on the front of the body. That’s why babies sleep better on their tummies too (even though you aren’t supposed to lay them that way bc of SIDS risk). So you could get a weighted blanket and sleep on your back, or do what I tried. I laid my body pillow right on top of me from my chest down to mimic sleeping on my tummy. Your spouse will think you’re strange lol, but it really does feel great and when you sleep, your mind and body are tricked into thinking your on your tummy bc of the mimicked pressure.
I would try this, i sleep the same way, well the wrong two ways🥺 I have tried to sleep on my back and then i can't fall sleep, on top i suffer from insomnia, so is harder, so i give up and go for my usual way. It's really hard for me, I would try what you explained and hope it works for me🤞

Thank you dr. Mandell for all your wonderful videos! I do use a pillow at my knees, and I've taken to sleeping on my on my back and I alternate using a rolled-up towel just under my neck (that helps stretch it gently), with a fluffy, not-very-thick pillow, sorta cradling my shoulders, as well as my head; I sleep very well, whether I'm on my side or on my back. I hope someone tries this and it works well for you :)

Thank you Doctor. I appreciate all your advice. My husband loves to sleep in the second position. Hopefully he'll stop now.As for sleeping on the stomach, as Muslims we are advised to avoid this position. So this will be easier to avoid . Thank you Sir.

When I was 21 I had tendonitis and the doctor sent me home with a sling. No physical therapy was done back then. I'm in my 60s now and one morning waking up I stretched above my head in bed while still lying down and wham! I got a frozen shoulder. It took me years to get a limited movement in that arm, but never got the range of motion back. I can raise my arm out to the side and the motion stops at the shoulder, but never above my head. Thanks Doc for that advice...sleeping on stomach is a no no. Best to sleep on the your right, with right hand on your cheek. Dont put pressure on your heart. Prophetic guidance from Islam.
I've noticed the problems you describe from sleeping on my side this way. Thank you for the great anatomical descriptions and tips!
Without being shown it was impossible to understand, still didn't get anything he said!
Thanks so much! I've been having trouble with an old rotator cuff injury, and now, thanks to you, I understand why! Though always mostly a side-sleeper I've to sleep on my back, but I now realize it's more than worth it to learn to make it my main position. Your advice us deeply appreciated.
You are an Angel, Dr Mandel! Thank you for all your great advice for all of us. 🙏🏻
I have Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome between rib No.1 & my shoulder blade both sides.
Your advice, Dr. Mandell, is now assisting me.
Thank you!
1) nobody sleeps 6-8 hours in one position. we change them min every 40mins
2) in deep sleep state one doesn't have an awareness of one's position and hence wouldn't now if it should be corrected or not.
Exactly.. I've never in my life fallen asleep on my stomach, but I've awoken in that position many a time! Always with my head turned to the left! And yes, my neck is stiff a few hours, but I wasn't aware of how I turn over in my sleep!
I sleep in all positions
Thank you for the information. I love your videos. Short ,down to the point and I understood exactly what you were explaining. Blessings
Hope you continue to progress. Blessings
Good day Doc Mandell thank you for all your exercises.God bless you.
I truly appreciate all the important information you give us! Thank you!
IMPOSSIBLE to avoid certain sleeping positions...we are asleep and unconscious when we sleep...we toss and turn frequently throughout the night..
Craig Pick Well if you say to yourself “It’s impossible” then it will be impossible.
Craig Pick lol I have no idea what position Im in after I fall asleep😂
Craig Pick I guess he thinks we can have someone stay up all night to watch what happens to our body and all the positions that happen? Then wake wake us up to correct us?
Right on
Very possible. All it takes is for you to want it enough
Isliye hi hamare Nabi kareem Sallallahu Alaihi wassallam ne hame farmaya ke pet ke bal nhi sona hai... Beshak Islam me insaniyat ke liye behtreen baten sikhayi gayi hai Alhamdulillah I'm Muslim 👍🏻
Best position to sleep is on your right hand side and as advised by Dr ...with the pillow etc
People, be sure to stay awake when you sleep, in order to keep the correct sleeping position💤👍🏼
Pls place the job advert
😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
Now what sense does that make?! If we stay awake how we gonna rest our bodies??!?! Are you drunk right now??!😮😮
Fool..
Lol
I've nothing to say than, "thank you so much". I'm a victim of bad side sleep
I have had trouble sleeping for over five years after my wife died. I am 66 and just retired..I have found my
solution..I have moved to the Philippines and married a beautiful girl over half my age..we usually sleep in spoon position snuggled up to each other.. sometimes we sleep on top of each other and our heads stay in the forward position besides each other's head..I always wake up refreshed no matter what position I sleep.hehe..thank for the information because I always listen to your advice and try and do what you say.. thanks 😊👍👌🇺🇲👙💓⛱️👣😁🤗
This Guy knows everything one person can make up.
Excellent advice, explained efficiently in terms understandable to a lay person. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Going to switch to sleeping on back; good to know. 👍
This is very educative! I sometimes get this numbness in my hands in the middle of my sleep and I just realize I haven’t really done so much research on how my sleeping position can affect my health; long term. Thank you 😊
All good
The numbness in your hands may be a forerunner to carpel tunnel. Check it out, they can test for this. I am going through this myself.
Awesomeness!
In a word, it's how a great portion of his Y-T followers describe Dr. Mandell. And without fail, it's also THE word that comes to us as any of his videos wrap up.
Thank you, Dr. M!
Dr Mandell, you have the absolute best videos of all! The use of diagrams, props and picture are so helpful! Thank you so much
I wake up almost every hour to flip over, no sleeping position feels comfortable to me anymore, its driving me nuts. I usually sleep side, belly, or somewhere in between...
Sutera Pillow helped me stop sleeping on my side..
You may need a new mattress
It was the same with me, until recently. After I purchased a high quality pillow my sleep had been much much better
I do the same thing Kayla
Thank you commenting. I cannot get rid of the pain and numbness in my hands, even when using Dr. Mandell's suggestions in this video. Bless you!
Wow thank you so much for making this video. I truly appreciate that you share all your knowledge, wisdom, and understanding with the public! I have been able to learn and continue to learn so much! I love sharing what I have been blessed to learn by you to my family. I often now refer to you as my doctor because you are more of a doctor than a bunch of general practitioners put together! So thank you thank you thank you for all you do! God bless you!
P.s. I want to learn so much more now! You have helped bring back my passion for learning! So God has blessed me very much! Peace be with you always!
Yes GOD BLESS me thx thx tc

I sleep on my side with one arm up and under the pillow, it feels comfortable but I wake up with shoulder pain.
I always wondered why my shoulder hurts when I wake up in the morning.
Thank you so much,
Dr. Mandell for this information 🙏
I sleep the same way and I'm in pain every morning
Dr u are 100% correct with yr info even though some ignorant ppl are mocking u. IGNORE THEM!!!! I am a muslim i follow Islam and guess what???? My Religion discourages sleeping on yr stomach to the point where it is narrated in Hadith God despises this sleeping position. Now interestingly yr a non muslim doctor but are endorsing what my beautiful Religion has taught us 1400 years ago!!!!! #RESPECT ISLAM!
very helpful for relaxing sleep and a good, pain-free day ahead. Thank you!
It's really hard for me, I would try what you explained and hope it works for me🤞
Thank you so much Dr. Mandell I have been having terrible pain in my left shoulder blade and down my arm and you have really helped me
Dr.Allan Mandell thank you for your time 1year ago 2 Sleeping position you must avoid sleeping to side to up your arm under your head God bless you
Watching this vídeo I learnt, I've been sleeping in the wrong way all my life...thanks doc... Greetings from Colombia not columbia...
Vlad Perez, GOOD CATCH ON THE SPELLING OF YOUR COUNTRY, SO HERE IS A HINT FOR YOU.
THERE IS NO WORD "Learnt" It doesn't exist.
The word you want to use is ""learned" ""LEARNED." Therefore, here is your corrected sentence.
Watching this video, I learned, I've been sleeping in the wrong way all my life...
Thank God, I don't have to learn your language because most of it would need corrections !!!
HAPPY SLEEPING EVERYONE.
I can’t fall asleep sleeping on my back. Thanks doc.
Ababa janhoye🙏
I have been watching you for a few months now Doctor. I find all of the things that you say to try really help. I sleep much better and wake much more energetic. Thank you so much. I share often
I don't have any time to sleep since finding this guy!
I spend 18 hours a day making essential smoothies and elixirs that I'm supposed to drink every day on an empty stomach.
Excellent information thank you. I love all your videos 🙋♀️Texas
Thank you for the informative information you provide in your videos. Now I can tell my fiance why his shoulders and his neck hurt when he wakes up.He sleeps on his stomach constantly.
Hallelujah, the Prophet Muhammad, taught us how to sleep, and guided us to avoid sleeping on the abdomen
Thank you, I sleep on my side , with my arm above my head and have been waking up with numbness in my hands, did not realize it could be because the way I was sleeping.
Then you have to use your other arm to pick up the numb arm until the blood flow is back lol 😂
Thank you! Been going to PT for a month now and my therapist hasn't given me one response to my asking why my shoulder hurts so much, no suggestions or anything. I have nerve damage (cervical) & just says well it's your nerves...I'd really like someone to give me "suggestions" (like you always do ❤) not just repeat what problems I already know I have. I wish you were my PT Therapist! You help so many, including me. Thank you Doc. ❤❤
Takhfah ibn Qays reported: While I was lying on my belly in the mosque, a man shook me with his foot and he said, “Verily, Allah hates this posture.” I looked up and it was the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Those two positions are my favorite and my left shoulder is in pain right now
Which two?
I try not to sleep with my arms up now. I have found the pain in my left shoulder is now abating.
Incredible. I sleep in these two exact positions! I don't understand, it's so uncomfortable, yet it's usually these two positions that help me sleep. Waking up is painful. I'm going to try sleeping on my back! Thanks.
Thank you, Dr. Mandell; this was important to me. By the way, I keep doing those stomach exercises, sucking in the tummy button, and my core is getting stronger, so much, I can lift 50 lbs with no problem. Sonja.
I can’t say I use this information more than I do anyone else’s, but I do think about it a lot more than everyone else’s
I have been flooding you for 5 plus years and you help me out for sure .
I destroyed the capsular ligaments in my neck partially from sleeping on my stomach, and it's CRAZY expensive to fix that. DON'T sleep on your stomach. Do whatever you can to get comfortable with side-sleeping. Get 3 pillows to help it feel more normal.
So how are you today? I sleep on my stomach since years I can't change it. I have neck instability issues.
Thank you Doctor. I appreciate all your advice. My husband loves to sleep in the second position. Hopefully he'll stop now.As for sleeping on the stomach, as Muslims we are advised to avoid this position. So this will be easier to avoid . Thank you Sir.
as whole sleeping position is automatic. you may sleep in one position and wake in other position. how to control?. your brain working?
That's a tough one, maybe keeping pillows surrounding you.
motivationaldoc no dont use a pillow its not good i sleep without on The floor
keeping pillows restrict movement.
Altex lan you are correct. These are theoretical and just claptrap
doctor all sturdy the same syllabus and talk the same..
Thank you Dr. Mandell; Prophet Mohamed (peace and prayers be upon him) explained how we should sleep - basically clean, in a clean bed, with clean cloths (different what those worn during the day), at night (or just after lunch for a bit), on the right shoulder/side or one's back (and he urges not to sleep on the stomach or on the left shoulder or side).
God bless you, Dr. Mandell. You are a blessing to many. Thank you 🙇♀️💕
Unfortunately sleeping on my stomach is my favourite and I feel soon comfortable too bad for me then. I will try to change

Merry Christmas to you and a happy, healthy and safe new year!

@@motivationaldoc thank you for the instructional video. I actually sharp in the two ways you describe and do so since adolescence when I learned that snoring is must often caused by sleeping on your back.

I have no idea what happens when I'm asleep most people don't either
Oh no Doc! Was afraid of that! You hit my sleep spot. My left side where I have rotator cuff issues, and yes your advice hit home! I already am a short, poor sleeper, but have veiwed 2 of your sleep remedies I have yet to try. Well it looks like I have some work to do… changing sleep positions and implementing some of your remedies to increase sleeping time! Been using your detox, and apple cider vinegar, lemon etc. drink pretty amazing the difference it makes! You’re awesome Dr Mandell! You truly are a treasure to all of us! It’s wonderful when you find place in life were you can contribute to peoples health and happiness! Your in that place! Stay healthy my friend!

Sleeping has been difficult but I've found help on UA-cam with positions to sleep in. It's bearable, but it's taken a long time. Thanks for the advice.
I know right? In the past , if I stretched in bed before getting up, I got many injuries to my neck and back. I have to resist the temptation of stretching in bed. I think I have learned my lesson by now.
not enough of pics to see right or wrong postions
u can listen?

You don't have to be deaf to benefit from some xtra pictures
I agree with Rex Motha.
back sleeping is preferred if no physical conditions
More brilliant advise from my favorite U tube doctor, 👍👍👍❤️
Dr. Mandel I have subscribed to your page today and I've come across so many different answers to the problems I have been dealing with. I've been complaining of numbness in my fingers and never once, not one time was I asked about my sleeping positions. Thank you I will give this a try tonight.
iv torn tendens in both shoulders i am now eighty years old, i now know why my shoulders hurt when i wake up, i will avoid those positions , thank you for a good video.
Ya..... I'm doing both wrong positions, thanks. Now I can make it a great day!
You just help me to solve a sleeping problem I had.
Thanks Doc.
I’ve been sleeping on my stomach for 39 years! My neck has been hurting more!
I’m not sure why I cannot sleep on my back! What do you suggest Dr. Mandell?❤️
I don't fall asleep with my arm under the pillow and above my head but I always wake up that way. How can I have any control over this while asleep?
sleep at the other end of the bed also i hear putting a sausage in your butt can help Thank me later....
jeremy jahoova LOL
jeremy jahoova you just made me laugh with your middle School humor. Thank you lol
Have you tried handcuffs?
David Williams to everything Turn Turn Turn. There’s a season man
That's the way I slept since babyhood. Can't sleep on my back, with my chin down I feel as though I am chocking. So thank you Doc, proved me right! My children sleep that way too.
Extremely useful advice! Thank you.
Thanks Dr, I've heard some conflicting information. One report recommend never sleeping on your right side due to pressure on organs. More importantly another says never on your back because of danger of provoking dementia. Your thoughts please.
..... I had a friend who had a heart condition and was told to sleep on her right side. I think there ought to be guidelines , so people who can't sleep on their back , etc, understand why certain positions are good/ not good. This was an informative video , for the short version of " avoid these two sleep positions ". 🙂
It's 2019 and I'm seeing to this video. Doc how do you get rid of the numbness down the arm and into the fingers.
Oh no Doc! I sleep on my side with one leg bent (as i started this when pregnant some 47 years ago) and like to have my pillow length ways from below chest so my head's higher and usually left arm stretched out past head to avoid elbow pain when waking. I try keep hands away from body to avoid waking to a dead hand and thinking somethings touching me.
I love sleeping and only thing really sore in a.m. is elbow.
I noticed my neck area sore and realised it was from watching movies on the phone to my left. So now i try keep phone directly in front of me.
Thanks Doc for all your advice 🇿🇦
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Mandell. Your advice is so wonderful and helpful!
Dam, that’s how I’ve always slept on my stomach, for the past 40 years, as well as hugging the pillow on my side. I wish I knew this as a kid, it’s no wonder I’ve got neck and back problems.
Yes I always slept on my stomach.thats how I have to lay to get to sleep.ive always had back and neck problems to then I ended up breaking my neck and still I try to sleep on my stomach
So I still have neck and back pain.im gonna try to sleep better now
This is going to be hard for me. I've been a stomach sleeper since birth. I panic when I sleep on my back. I'd literally need to put the blanket over my head to feel safe and comfortable.
@@jennyhutto7120 OMG never heard of a Broken neck? Painful hope Ur better
Guess I’ll buy a massage table so I can sleep on my stomach
Was thinking about that. Maybe then I could finally enjoy sleeping on my stomach again. Sure miss it.

@@ha6092 same. I love sleeping on my stomach, but it’s shifted my neck position. Now, I have constant neck pain.
@@sarahvince1767 I have been searching for healing solutions and I have discovered a few. Here ate options that might interest you: 1) I know that Mingtong Gu's Qi Qong heals many physical issues. He shares alot of free stuff to start with and there are testimonials on youtube . 2) dr Joe Dispenza's book(s) and program. It works for many issues but not for everyone and it is probably the toughest one, depending where you are coming from, how far you are etc. 3) the technologies and teachings of Grigori Grabovoï, that you can access through his books and seminars also. That is what I have chosen after trying dr Joe's work and other things. If one of these inspires you, go for it. You can heal it, that is for sure.
Tried it doesn't work
