I found your channel because of this one and it was one of the best l things to happen to me this year! Your version of Spain gets an almost daily play from my family
Most music outside of classical is just not as technical. but that's not to say jazz, blues, country, folk, rock, "etc" is bad, it's just a difference in skill level. That being said, musicians in jazz have become what they hated the most, and that's being an outright snobby elitist.
*pushes up glasses Excuse me, but technically the CORRECT fingering for the mordent played between 1:06 and 1:07 at the end the exercise in C major is side C, as it allows you to play the high C without flipping between LH1 and LH2. Flipping between those fingers as you did necessarily creates a blip in the sound, as it is a statistical impossibility to both lift LH1 and press LH2 at the exact same time. If you were a TRUE classical snob, you would not have allowed yourself to make such a glaring mistake. P.S. I really enjoyed your swing between the timestamps of 7:57 and 8:16. It sounded very jazzy. I could really tell you were feeling the music. Bravo!
There’s a real message here though. I’ve encountered similar if less ‘in my face’ snobbery. Chad is sooo cool here. He accepts the dude as he is without prejudice - I know it’s a skit - but Chad could teach anyone.
nathan flubbing a low tone makes me feel better about my own playing, it’s hard to remember sometimes that your playing doesn’t have to be perfect !! hilarious video:)
Great skit! It makes learning fun, with the highest levels of production and productivity. Like Chad, Nathan will make as excellent a teacher as he is a master of both classical and Organic (Real) Jazz genres. Thanks, fellows.
the way I see it, jazz is the music where you make a mistake, and just panic improvise something cool afterwards to cover it up and it still sounds good. I love jazz so much!
Hello nathan! I’ve known this channel since 2019 which was my freshman year in high school and you have been my role model ever since. You give to us so much and I’ve learned a lot from you. I am so happy to share that i was able to make it to jazz band for my school this year and have been placed as 1st tenor even though it was my first time trying out!! I have been moved down to alto 2 for the time being since i have never played in a jazz band before and my capacity in a swing style is quite pathetic. But I’m very excited to try out again next year and possibly play as tenor 1. I’m very grateful that you always do the best for us. Best of luck to you in the future and i hope you have a fantastic day!
This made me piss myself laughing..... How you both managed not to laugh all the time shows amazing control. Thanks for making a tough day so much better!
I'm really loving your channel, man.. just started watching because I've always wanted to play the sax and have a friend who's a pro player willing to sell me one of his and teach me to play... I'm 55... never too late, right? 😎🎷❤
Chad is ridiculously nice for a person that could erase my entire existence in a single ii-V-I
Good one
Frs
Yes, indeed
JAJAJAJ
Hahaha "erase my entire existence" so good
this should be titled, "chad gives us a free lesson while Nathan plays our favorite character"
Exactly.
Yes
“Our favorite character” is the perfect description lmao I love it
Skit master!! Haha this is so funny man great work. Love the bloopers! 😂
Love your saxophone playing Chad!
I found your channel because of this one and it was one of the best l things to happen to me this year! Your version of Spain gets an almost daily play from my family
The beast is here, and he played a blues for us. Epic
Everytime I heard Chad talked about and play jazz I'm like man I need to throw away my sax or practice 10h a day
“Music’s not about fun, it’s about honoring the tradition.”
…sounds like some current jazz musicians 👀👀
Haha
This is the truth unfortunately. 😩

Lots of legends have gathered in this video, and I don't think I can handle more.
Luckily I haven't found someone like that
Imagine being nathan, probably one of the few people in existence, to tell Chad LB, he was playing wrong notes
LOL LITERALLY
In jazz, if you play an untended note, just do it again to try to make people think you did it intentionally.
"What year was he born"
"I'm not sure"
"I'm not sure either" fucking killed me 😂😂😂
Saxlogic, your classical tone is Killin
Actually your classical chops are great!
Man even got Chad LB for the skits
He runs a company with him
I absolutely cannot take the classical swing articulation, kills me every time
Really? You aren't very accustomed to classical swing songs?
TELL ME ABOUT IT, I'm in a big band and the second alto is a classical player and it's so hard to deal with
Chad shredding jazz licks over that classical piece completed me
*pushes up glasses

Hahahaha your PS killed me 😂😂 Now you got me wanting to do Classical Sax Snob Meets a Bigger Classical Sax Snob and they go at it.
@@Saxologic OMG pleeease pleeeeeease make that video!
@@Saxologic that is absolutely genius
@@Saxologic omg yes
@@Saxologic snob meets snob! Can’t wait for it. And, let’s not forget Jazz snobbery. I for one enjoy looking down my nose from time to time lol
"I literally did that!" Can I use that line on my saxophone teacher? LOL.
Most people would be so excited to get a 10 minute session with Chad. Nathan uses it to live-shitpost right in Chad's face. Beautiful.
God I love how it’s just written into the skit for chad to just go off
BRO U GOT CHAD LB ON THE CHANNEL THIS GUY IS LIKE A MUSICIANS DREAM OF MEETING
I love it when Chad completely lost it at one point but had the perfect cut. Classic. Nice.
I wonder, if this was real lesson, how much would you have to pay the professor for this unbelievable patience. After all, he lasted whole 10 minutes
3:44 okay this was impressive. Chad is such a master
Everything was impressive😥
Lmfao when Nate goes “I couldn’t even hear the tonality” and Chad is just like well shit alright, here we go again
That was hilarious!!!
"I'm crafting my embouchure."
"Oh, cool."
3:48 freaking awesome when Chad just started improvising on Bach.
Bach himself was a great improvisor! It was just pre-jazz improvisations!
@@XIIMonkeysMusicGroup I think almost everyone improvised in the baroque era
No joke, your classical tone is **chef's kiss**
For a classical snob he sure does swing a lot
So many of my classical friends think jazz swing is a dotted eighth pattern and it kills me inside lol
This is like, my favorite series
Chad seems like a great teacher

You have such a great classical sound!
The best/most impressive part of this whole video is that you didn’t break character during Chad’s blues solo
As a sax player that plays both jazz and classical. I love this so much I can relate to both 🙂
Any jazz flute snobs on YT? Seeking collab
Oh I think there’s plenty of those !
Good luck!
Not only is Chad a marvelous player but a damn good and funny improv actor
This was an interesting demonstration of the difference between classical sax and jazz sax. Of course, both of these guy play well. Nice job.
CHAD?! series just keeps giving 🤣
I love the long, closed eye sigh every time after he plays
_"What do you jazz players know about complexity"_
-The person asking for sheet music during an improv session
Great skit!

I’m a jazz major and I can’t decide whether or not this is more hilarious or infuriating because it’s SO F***ING TRUE
This is the best one yet.
I love your guys’ work together, I hope you continue doing it!
Congrats on making it to the Concert Jazz Band!
New video right when I take a practice break? Perfect
Amazing talented man on tenor saxophone. That was incredible
That was incredible
Woowwww this is perfect 👌🏻 the rivary between classical and jazz players in university will always stay
the way I see it, jazz is the music where you make a mistake, and just panic improvise something cool afterwards to cover it up and it still sounds good. I love jazz so much!
I wanna see the reverse, the jazz snob from that one video gets lessons from a classical musician. That'd be fun.
Those little eyebrow lifts before he starts playing get me everytime
The black lamp next to the jazz professional looks like a saxophone mouthpiece and ligature!
3:00 was the most genuine ok I’ve ever heard
i'm new to saxologic and he slays me every video, this is a year old and i'm dying
Honestly, I love the classical and jazz sax sounds equally. What a versatile instrument.
"OK. Well, do you have the sheet music for that?" That and Nathan's facial expressions while playing....I can't even.
Super legit classical sound. Chad’s playing wasn’t bad, either. 😂
I've met classical snobs that really exist like that!😅
And he also nailed the classical sound and phrasing as well
Chad certainly living up to his name.
Alternate Title: Small inferior non-improvising being gets absolutely dominated by *Alpha Elite Mega Sax Chad*

2:34 was how my first lesson with Chad actually went ha
4:55 pretty tenor sax tone! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TENOR SAXOPHONE THAT IS! IM CRUSHING OVER IT!
As in Brand? It's the Nexus ONE Tenor! Trust me, I've been wanting one too, but they're pricey!
This Chad guy is really good at this saxophone thing.
The crossover we all needed and never knew it
Soon he himself will become the jazz master
When he just starts playing over. Oh boy
2:33 swingiiiiiiiing
Really love the snob series. Best part 6:08-6:12
the poor bach 🤣 that was so sad, im a go cry in my clasical tenor & bass clarinet corner!
OMG, I have a crush on Chad's saxophone! Good lord, that thing looks and sounds amazing. What's the make and model?
Sad part is, I have taught students who started with this attitude. About the 2nd time they say its wrong, I say "Ok Lesson over. You can leave now"
I straight up cried laughing for at least 3/4 of this, especially considering my name
Love your acting @Nathan
Epic cameo @Chad
Both of you two rock!
6:35 I never even knew you could do that on sax I literally died laughing 😂
I love this video! You both did a GREAT job!
Chad is sitting on 3% of his couch cushion
Love you Mr. Nathan!
the sound of chat is so cool!
7:12 he went for it, in front of one of his heroes. I respect it.
this really shows that chad is self aware dude capable of making fun of music (because it is silly at times).
Great video. I love watching your videos
You and your brother are so goated it’s not even funny 😭
Can you create a lesson on your favourite lines from chad lb?! (I really liked the zane musa lesson soo...) :)
the look at 2:33 takes me right back to the conservatoire...
I felt the pain in that OK at 3:00
Bro plz upload I need another saxologic video it brings me joy
Everything I do is for you
@@Saxologic does that mean yes???
This was hilarious! Thanks for this man
@saxologic 6:30 killer 7sec of microtonal and extended techniques improv! (and that's the ultimate snobbery)

I had so much fun watching this, thank you!
Would you be interested in starting a beginners jazz lesson series on youtube? Like maybe how to start and improve improvising / voice leading.
the SLAP TONGUE popped off
3:23 All saxophone players, y’all have done this at least once in your lifetime
I fell when he finally went "screw this"😂😂😂
Amazing.
