Chad, I'm not even a sax player, I'm a drummer but... I'll NEVER forget that sax solo you did on Emmet Cohen's version of "Cantaloupe Island"! What a KILLER solo, dude!
When most jazz colleges and universities teach chord scales without examples of how to use them in a solo, Chad is a great teacher who shows precisely what we should learn to improvise. Thanks, best sax teacher on youtube.
I was at the Northside highschool fest a while back, and since then I've watched your content. Thanks for being such an inspiration and making content. 🔥
Look at this man, having the AUDACITY to call me out. In all seriousness, this was the wake-up call for me. You coming in to visit us down in Palm Beach was amazing and I was so excited to share the stage with you. I'm trying to up my game for the next step in my education and this video saying outright "You're not going big mode! My brother you need to hit the shed for the love of God!" is a suppliment of motivation. Always appreciate the work you're doing here.
Love this video! I signed up and loved the class today! Great information to break out of some habits and practice better. Was great to meet you in Denver this past year and can’t wait to see you live again!
Chad, been playing for many, many years and still feel that I'm at the starting gate and thankyou for your input ,you really take the complex out of music and add fun.Keep swinging the way you swing bro👍🏾. Sending love from the UK👍🏾
These are wonderfully laid out, extremely helpful. Nerd note: among all those nice subs you played (that weren’t exactly documented in the changes) ending the last Ii-V7-I on Emaj7 to delay resolution before Ebmaj 👌🏼❤️
I love the concept and presentation of the Rhythmic practice. Perhaps if I had done that I would have been more of the improviser that I wanted to be! I teach the same concept of metronome use in a classical clarinet world. I have a hard time getting people to believe me when I tell them how powerful it is. Loved the video
Hi Chad. Where Can we aks you question ? You're answering by mail ? or here ? Cause I have a question about writing out solos for learning improvisation.
@@ChadLefkowitzBrown Thank you. This is a waitlist ? I have to wait ? For information, I have an advanced level, i'm saxophone teacher like you, which does not prevent me from seeking other advice from other professionals.
I have a quick question: I have your ten daily exercises and I've been trying to stay on schedule with them, sometimes I can get through them timely I'm taking them slowly because sometimes I miss my schedule. Then I find myself questioning whether I should take one at a time and get them down to a good speed, this would make my practice of them more time-consuming instead of focusing on getting through the whole ten and a moderate pace.
Chad, love your lessons. I recently purchased your Pentatonic patterns for improvisation. How can I use this best when I practice? This book is packed with stuff. I don’t know where to start.
Thank you, Joe! I would actually recommend step 3 in this video! Focus on memorization and transposition. So much of application will start to come naturally when you internalize and transpose through the keys. Use the exercises written in all 12 keys as a way to help you memorize faster. Then, if you’re looking for more guidance, happy to work with you in my Text Lessons studio if you want to sign up for the waitlist! www.jazzlessonvideos.com/text-lessons
Thank you. I will review the UA-cam lesson and start working on it. I am a little tired of just scale practice. Maybe I can kind of kill two birds with on stone.
i just got a tenor sax after playing alto and bari for years and its amazing but i cant find anthing on how to learn what scales to use for what and how to practice soloing over chord changes chromatically but a little easier to start. Your tone is what i wish i could have and you are my idol and reason im still playing. Thanks for keeping me here. Also how do you deal with the constant condensation going down the side of the sax and dripping all over your fingers.
I've tried a few times to transcribe by ear, and it just an utter failure. Spending 20 minutes trying to figure out what pitch is happening is very discouraging. I just can't help but think I have terrible sense of pitch period.
I think his tip of singing it first is really important. Take a simple melody that you can already sing by heart and try to play that on your horn. It takes time to develop your ear (I'm still working on it too)

The first point is eye-opening for me…. Really something that has slowed my progress tremendously. Since the start of 2021, I made it a goal to practice everyday and document the concepts I practice. At this point I have nailed down the routine, and now have practiced everyday for 750+ days, but noticed that my progress has slowed down tremendously after the first year. I have fallen into practice running lines through all 12 keys of major and minor 251s, which is an easy concept to dig at, but it definitely feels like punching sand at this point. Thanks Chad for the video ❤
I love this guy...his playing, his sound, his technique...superb...However, often times I need him to dumb it down for me. I get totally lost midway through his explanations. Too advanced for me...

Thank you Chad LB!!
Thank y Chad! This was very illuminating! Just so you know I'm 76 & have been paying saxes since I was 21!
Thanks for another great video, Chad! Now off to practice some more!
Chad my man you are a virtuoso on tenor sax.Your tone intonation, and phrasing are incredible. The speed in which you can play is awesome.
Thanks so much, Dave! That means a lot to me!
@Chad LB You are very welcome I may need to get a few lessons from you

Thank you chad ❤

How did you play a low A on your tenor?
When visiting our country Mexico ?
Hi chad…in bar eleven….should that be an E flat…on the F7 or is that a tension note
You are more than welcome in Poland ;)
Me looking at the thumb nail like chad noooooo at least give me the nexus sax can't afford one but would love to have one
Wierd question but will there be a Nexus soprano sax or baritone sax?

Scales and chord changes are the same as on your bari and alto

Did you learn the saxophone 🎷 with no F# key, and is that why you play on one without it now? I'd be lost without mine!
how many passports do you go through in a year?
I'm sorry I didn't see you play live at jazz plaza. Through social networks I found out that you stayed near my neighborhood. This world is small.

That's a wellknown fact that 20 minutes are the longest time we are able to concentrate.
Is that Chance Martin?
For me, this wasn't 6 reasons I am not getting better. It was 6 (or more) ways that I CAN get better!
Definately, well put. I see it this way also

Reason #1 - You smashed your beloved instrument on the desk in your home office.
Whoops! 😅
I can never get in tune with the exercises..smh 😢

I’m 79 or I’d sign up.
Gotta take that cash to the grave 💰
Did I just see an Ab on a tenor sax?
My number one reason is I’m lazy and don’t practice
Haha 😄 🤣
Second? 🤪🤣🤣
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Reason #1: You keep holding your instrument upside down.
Chad , you are so good. all useful. What a pity your name is Chad. Could you start calling yourself JIMMY or perhaps Terry or Hans ?
