Bungie got lazy & full of themselves. They no longer give a damn about their player base. Just making tons of $$. I liked Bungie better when they were financed by Activision. Those were the days...
I still remember playing with my friend and him saying that he got recommended a streaming that was looking for black spindle and both of us laughing until he clicked on it and saw the guy at a strange place. THAT WAS INCREDIBLE.
It feels amazing to finally be one of the people to say “I was there…..” ooooo that feels good. THIS MISSION WAS CRAZY AND THE FACT IT WAS HIDDEN IS WHY WE ALL LOST OUR SHIT. Ps still have no idea wtf the portal was for.
The mission for Whisper of the worm was so damn epic. My fireteam and I felt like Champs when we finished it and unlocked such an epic sniper rifle. (Before it was nerfed)
Honestly, that has been one of the highlights of my time playing Destiny. Not many other moments compare to the moment when my fireteam and I completed it for the 1st time with 8 seconds left.

We did this and I got asked by a couple people who saw me with it to help them. I decided to help them and then I was invited to their clans and made more friends. This mission really got me to be more confident and ask for help with raids and other activities
Suggestion for next time: OG vault of glass. Didn’t get mine until forsaken. Every time I see another video of this series, I get excited! Keep it coming.
I remember the moment I got the Spindel. The game started to lag as the timer still went down and two adds would not die. But, we killed them at the very last second of the mission. Lovely way to get my heart pumping with anticipation.
I did it 3 times a week because I had all 3 classes. You had to beat it for each character first then the chests would be available. I was done in no time.
I'm brand new to the destiny franchise (never played D1, about 150 hours in d2) and this quest is my favorite. I'm super sad that it's going away, but I'm glad I got to experience it before it goes.
The Whisper mission absolutely saved Destiny 2. So much nostalgia here. Dear God, why are you reminding me of those first weeks of WotW and waiting hours for the taken event to spawn..."another f*cking cabal event?" When the green room short cut was found, it was groundbreaking. The darts from the cabal centurion were the bane of my existence. Doing the 400 heroic mission at light level 380. And then Bungo nerfed the Whisper. Don't forget the LFG for King's Fall...Black Spindle or you need not apply here. You definitely earned a sub...if only for the outro music.
I remember doing spindle during that first day, was just a rumor that people were talking about. The effort to complete the mission was high, but the spindle was an awesome weapon to use
I didn’t play D1 but have been doing D2 since Y1, the Whisper mission blew my mind. I saw the thread on Reddit while I was at work and couldn’t wait to come home. Even spending hours waiting for the right public event, failing the mission a few times and having to wait in between with my fireteam is such a fond memory.
@@StrangerE0ns Pumped to get to experience the OG content. Feels like Bungie is starting to get the hang of the whole "self-published, free-to-play" thing.
What is said at the 24:00 minute mark use to be true, now we have the ability too make a crit spot from any location using the raid hidden exotic. white nail mixed with that makes it useful in 99% of activitys
You forgot that there were datamined images of the catalyst found early in the Warmind expansion days. People were confused what it was and people were thinking it was the spindle with it’s taken ornament. But people for weeks searched every nook and cranny and anything out of the ordinary such anywhere from weird parts of the pyramidion people flipped to get into to glitched tetrahedron icicles to figure out where the weapon was. So it was a hype fest to say the least. I will say people still didn’t expect that mission or the heroic version or the new name, skin, and lore. And no one thought the original White nail from black hammer would come back.
This was my favorite moment of all of destiny. I loved it so much I helped probably 30 ppl get it back when it was difficult. Polaris Lance was what my group used on our first run and what we encouraged others to use.
One of my favorite things to do in D2. Running new lights through this mission so they can get their Whisper. I remember doing it initially when it was found, sooooo much fun. I miss it so much :(
I kind of regret never getting the whisper catalyst after seeing how cool this mission really was. I soloed it during season of the worthy when it was glitched and super easy.
Boss first then adds. Bubble next to him, shotguns and swords. I helped so many people run this quest. The gun was amazing especially in the Kings Fall raid. Black Hammer Year 1 with Fatebringer and Gjallarhorn though was probably the most potent loadout in the history of the franchise. Ggs Evan keep up the great work bro.
The nerf just brought it in line with nerfs that were to come in shadowkeep. We just didnt know back then. Right now its again one of the best if not the best exotic in the game. Maybe slightly behind Izanagis
I'm sort of new to destiny 2, I started maybe a month before beyond light, and I did this mission 2 days before it was taken away, I'm so happy I got to experience this mission, it was a awesome, and honestly I think the music from this mission is some of the best in the game, I am kind of sad I can't do it again lol.
The weekend this dropped is still one of my favorite memories in all of Destiny. Spent all that Saturday helping clan members and friends run for Whisper. The hype Destiny 2 needed at the time.
ohhh man. I remember these days. Me and my friends running raids daily, crucible fun, throwing atheon off cliffs. Now I barely play games, I have a kid and I only keep in contact with one of my old Xbox friends.
I still have sticky notes pasted to my screen with the order for the oracle puzzle haha. Nice memory whenever I look back at it. The whisper quests were one of my fave secret quests.
I remember I was grounded when the spindle mission dropped for D2, and I found the mission myself and figured half of it out before I got my stuff back and I could watch a video on it. I was never so happy to be grounded
Dude I have remember some random guy carried me to get this gun and I was so happy! This was my favorite thing in D2. The catalyst was the most fun thing to get ever and I still rock that ship👌👌
I spent months working on the Whisper. I had to enlist help from some friends to guide me into it, one forgetting how the Catalyst exactly works when you try to get it. But just before Beyond Light, I got both the Ship AND the Catalyst. It was and still is the weapon I dedicated my time in the game to get over everything else, with the exception of Ace of Spades. I'm glad I didn't give up on it.
I actually still love this gun. It's one of my favorite snipers. Contrary to 1 aspect of Slayerage's point, I actually do find the weapon a lot of fun (Hunter here) and if you don't use it on anything else but things you can 3 tap and get your ammo back on, that's the part that's no fun. In terms of the nerf, yeah, I knew it was coming. My position on it is that it shouldn't have HAD to be nerfed. It circumventing the ammo economy in D1 was a problem then, and sure enough it was in D2. I was upset about it only because why bring it back then? oh well, it is what it is
I like the whisper of the worm too! It is very rewarding for triple precision hits. It even has mulligan to sometimes return ammo on a missed shot. It is very good on bosses.
This is what makes destiny special as I see it many other games started doing events and secrets on console games from here on out which is why destiny will be one of the most influential games of all time
i have taken plenty of breaks from destiny including now but i was lucky enough to play during black hammer, spindle and whisper in their prime. I think i even got the whisper on the first week and the catalyst the first week possible, so 3 weeks later, and i gotta say those were some of the best times i have had with a video game, truly special and i will never forget it.
Idk who you are But you explain the historical advances and their impact on current games like a legend yet to be unfold and that's too good. I'm not even hardcore destiny player, only recently got hooked into d2 but after seeing your vid I feel like I'm part of this long community and part of a legend too.the background music the narration on subject is perfect. Instasub
To be honest, looking back on it and looking at the Whisper today it's still one of the roughest missions in Destiny Whisper that is, and although It may not be what it use to be Whisper is still a strong Exotic to have.
I still remember a clanmate that out of nowhere started ranting about a "Black Spindle" for almost a month before Worm was discovered and how they were basically told "thats cool grandpa" each time they brought it up. I haven't seen someone excited like that in a long time. And god I hope Beyond has more of these, by far some of the most fun ive had in destiny2
The discussion at the end reminded me of something I liked about No Time To Explain. It was a pulse rifle with a very similar perk as Black Hammer. All Precision hits are returned to the magazine. Because it's a primary and it's a pulse rifle, it required you to get closer to the battle to make use of it. Therefore it didn't suffer the drawbacks of Black Hammer, Spindle or WoTW. I enjoyed it, and still felt it was balanced compared to other exotics, like my favorite of D1, Invective.
I got the weapon after forsaken and used it a lot at the beginning (even helped out most of the raiding clanmates to get it) it felt really strong but after a while I started to feel bored of it and switched to other weapons + at the time I already had both taken and fallen armaments so I had no problem with the ammo economy on any heavy weapon by the time it got nerfed we already stopped using it 90% of the raid encounters so it didn't hit me that hard (we swapped to outbreak instead, because white nail was bugged many times) it was a great weapon while it lasted... of course the ship is still my main on all 3 characters

How did you enjoy zero hour?
Bungie got lazy & full of themselves. They no longer give a damn about their player base. Just making tons of $$.
I liked Bungie better when they were financed by Activision. Those were the days...
@@fobbitoperator3620 Never thought I would ever hear that last part considering what I've heard about Activision.
I still remember playing with my friend and him saying that he got recommended a streaming that was looking for black spindle and both of us laughing until he clicked on it and saw the guy at a strange place. THAT WAS INCREDIBLE.
I remember the golden days of D2. When Whisper was strong. When raid bosses would crouch in fear against a squad of 6 Whispers.
The raid encounters were a joke. They were killed instantly.
Whisper of the Worm is still fucking amazing. Even after the nerf, it’s still one of the best DPS weapons in the game.
I remember the golden days of D1 when Black Spindle would make bosses in general shit bricks
@@rapturelimited534 the "golden age"? Why does everyone put d1 on a pedestal when it has so many problems at launch?
@@gooeymon8146 its imperfection was its beauty
@@rradley25 waahh I know what u feel like. I do this quest with my clan mate. Just 2 ppl and both of us is titan. Running like 7times. But it so hard. We always don't have much time n power. Almost give up n want asking other clanmate to join. But my friend say let's try 1 more. N u know we did it with 1 sec left. I almost spill my coffee when I scream with my hands up. Ya feel like Im a champion
@@kamila.k.asirtenang55 yup! Same as us, we were all yelling and celebrating haha. Some people don't realize how frustrating it was only being able to do it on the weekend and sitting around for hours waiting for that damb public event to pop up lol
@@rradley25 ya for whisper we need to wait for pub and for zero hour I'm so annoying with fan jump.
PlaztiK 76 i still haven’t successfully acquired that weapon the parkour was difficult then the enemies was a pain
This was the mission that got me into clans and fireteams. I was always a solo player but I had a couple friends who were also pretty much solo players.
Peter Carlson I agree, I wasn’t around for that so I want to hear about it and I know this guy will tell the story nicely
Days of being a relic runner.. sigh.
@@doughnutholer SAME.. I miss the good ol' days of waiting for the weekly reset and running VoG and Crota before Kingfsall and wrath were out.
“we’re we going back to that raid?? no.” i laugh at this now
I remember the moment I got the Spindel. The game started to lag as the timer still went down and two adds would not die. But, we killed them at the very last second of the mission. Lovely way to get my heart pumping with anticipation.
I’ll never forget when I got Black Hammer on my first run of Crota’s End
I legit got the catalyst completed by opening all five chests every week for 10 weeks
I beat it several times the first few times it dropped. Good Lord it was so fucking hard.
A true monster
You also got a good chunk of blighted essence from actually completing it on heroic so it may have taken longer if all you did was get chests
I did it 3 times a week because I had all 3 classes. You had to beat it for each character first then the chests would be available. I was done in no time.
“One was a hive knight”
*screen shows taken Minotaur*
Me: *visible confusion for a second*
Your story telling skills are amazing my man. If you keep putting your heart into these videos you’re ganna go a long way.
I'm brand new to the destiny franchise (never played D1, about 150 hours in d2) and this quest is my favorite. I'm super sad that it's going away, but I'm glad I got to experience it before it goes.
♥️♥️♥️♥️

@@evanf1997 I did! Blast from the past lol
More console main part of my childhood my man 😁
The Whisper mission absolutely saved Destiny 2.
Outbreak Perfected with the Mysterious Datapad for the next one plzzzz.
You right
A little birdie told me this may be true.........
And also Outbreak Prime
Trust me, that it gonna be next.
he literally said at the end that hes gonna cover that too
My man doing a documentary on the destiny community as a whole plus more. Love the vids man keep it up
I remember doing spindle during that first day, was just a rumor that people were talking about.
The effort to complete the mission was high, but the spindle was an awesome weapon to use
I have a very good feeling your channel is going to explode in popularity mate. Love it, keep it up!
The first time I did whisper I was shocked! It was the best designed and most intense mission in a game Ive ever played!
Never really played D1, so it's really cool getting the background on all this stuff.
Just wait when VOG and Kings fall comes back, they are so good
@@StrangerE0ns Pumped to get to experience the OG content.
I miss hidden gems like this. I don't need an over blown seasonal story. Give me several hidden missions with purpose and I'll be soooooo happy.
"Infamous strike boss" 💀💀
This was my favorite moment of all of destiny. I loved it so much I helped probably 30 ppl get it back when it was difficult. Polaris Lance was what my group used on our first run and what we encouraged others to use.
"No data mining" except the catalyst was literally data mined before Warmind even came out.
One of my favorite things to do in D2. Running new lights through this mission so they can get their Whisper. I remember doing it initially when it was found, sooooo much fun.
I miss it so much :(
"were we going back to that raid?" yes. 2 years later
this is one of the best informative destiny videos I've ever seen. you really know your stuff dude
I had so much fun doing carrys for this mission. I did around 130 carrys
weapons were a beast, missions were a beast, this videos a beast, love it bro, watched this video about 12 times, love it
I kind of regret never getting the whisper catalyst after seeing how cool this mission really was.
Izanagis is so good, imperials are holding me back for the catalyst tho:(
I'm sort of new to destiny 2, I started maybe a month before beyond light, and I did this mission 2 days before it was taken away, I'm so happy I got to experience this mission, it was a awesome, and honestly I think the music from this mission is some of the best in the game, I am kind of sad I can't do it again lol.
“Are we going to go back to vault of glass!?” Well no, but yes
The weekend this dropped is still one of my favorite memories in all of Destiny. Spent all that Saturday helping clan members and friends run for Whisper. The hype Destiny 2 needed at the time.
ohhh man. I remember these days. Me and my friends running raids daily, crucible fun, throwing atheon off cliffs. Now I barely play games, I have a kid and I only keep in contact with one of my old Xbox friends.
Man when whisper came out I loved it. It is hands down one of the best if not the best quests I’ve ever done.
22:53 everyone stand for the international anthem, just the best soundtrack in destiny history ❤️❤️
I still have sticky notes pasted to my screen with the order for the oracle puzzle haha. Nice memory whenever I look back at it. The whisper quests were one of my fave secret quests.
Dude! Didn’t know you were at GuardianCon! I also have that emblem, and happily grinded for that ship, now I never change my ship in D2
Rewatching this makes me appreciate everything that destiny 1 had given us
i know this video is super old but turns out the user 'Cipher' at 9:54 is me!! Had to triple check but that blows my mind haha
This is what makes destiny special as I see it many other games started doing events and secrets on console games from here on out which is why destiny will be one of the most influential games of all time
Whisper shouldn’t have been nerfed, RIP THIS LEGEND
i have taken plenty of breaks from destiny including now but i was lucky enough to play during black hammer, spindle and whisper in their prime. I think i even got the whisper on the first week and the catalyst the first week possible, so 3 weeks later, and i gotta say those were some of the best times i have had with a video game, truly special and i will never forget it.
THE MUSIC THO
the soundtrack was hands down the best part
Idk who you are
But you explain the historical advances and their impact on current games like a legend yet to be unfold and that's too good.
You don't have to take the green room because there is a abbreviation
Go to right and crouch
The discussion at the end reminded me of something I liked about No Time To Explain.
It was a pulse rifle with a very similar perk as Black Hammer. All Precision hits are returned to the magazine. Because it's a primary and it's a pulse rifle, it required you to get closer to the battle to make use of it. Therefore it didn't suffer the drawbacks of Black Hammer, Spindle or WoTW. I enjoyed it, and still felt it was balanced compared to other exotics, like my favorite of D1, Invective.
I got the weapon after forsaken and used it a lot at the beginning (even helped out most of the raiding clanmates to get it)
it felt really strong but after a while I started to feel bored of it and switched to other weapons + at the time I already had both taken and fallen armaments so I had no problem with the ammo economy on any heavy weapon
by the time it got nerfed we already stopped using it 90% of the raid encounters so it didn't hit me that hard (we swapped to outbreak instead, because white nail was bugged many times)
it was a great weapon while it lasted...
of course the ship is still my main on all 3 characters
