The locations are beautiful and very nice to go through and just take in the atmosphere. I even love most of the encounters and the divinity puzzles are a blast, but that boss at the end. My team has so many failed attempts because of that damn boss. Either due to people dying with motes, gambit teams being too slow, people getting in the way of the tethers for damage, and worst of all, the bugs. That fight alone kinda ruins this raid for me just because of how frustrating it has been.

I missed a lot and haven’t done most of these raids so it’s always nice to see the history behind them along with the season and how Destiny was doing at the time. You’re like the history teacher of raids tbh and I appreciate that
I also didn’t do the previous raids before the sunset. and i blame me for that, because they were so good when i saw evan videos, and i just started the game in shadowkeep, in the season of undying
The people I know that hate it, hate it because of two reasons, poor communication, which is bound to happen at some point, and getting DIV…..which is a fucking nightmare, even to this day.
VoG was directly tied into the story. CE was directly tied in. KF was directly tied in. Wrath was directly tied in. Leviathan wasn’t directly tied in but still fit within the narrative of the Cabal invasion. LW was directly tied in. Shattered Throne was directly tied in. Crown was directly tied in. GoS felt incredibly disjointed from the Shadowkeep campaign and was more aligned with the seasonal story/activity, with its sole redeeming factors being the darkness statue at the end and the witness speaking as our guardian cutscene taking place in what looks like the final run of the first encounter. Pit was directly tied in. Prophecy was directly tied in. DSC was directly tied in. Grasp was completely disjointed from the story. Vow was directly tied in. Duality was directly tied in. Garden of Salvation and Grasp of Avarice are definitely the most disjointed endgame PvE activities from a story standpoint.
Started playing destiny for the first time 2 weeks after beyond light came out. In 3 weeks I got eyes of tomorrow 6th try. 1k voices on my first LW chest. And finally completed divinity quest on my third garden clear. I spent 50% of all that time on sanctified mind div run.
my man evan, thank you for putting in all the time you do into these videos, really makes a huge difference in quality, i’m able to re watch these vids over and over
16:57 I wonder, is that the original tree of silver wings? I mean, I know it doesn’t look like the one we found, but the lore said it was reduced to a smoldering stump, and plus since it was destroyed at what was basically the beginning point of time, it makes sense it was overgrown, seeing that the gardener (light) had left and the winowner ( darkness) only tended to what it saw necessary to destroy.
I don't know it someone said that but Evan is the Community Historian this community deserves. Besides the Lore Masters which are really knowledgeable, he really is something else. Thank you Evan, Jeep it up ❤
I remember playing vault of glass on release back In D1. Raided heavily all the way through D1 and cleared leviathan in D2 before quitting destiny and coming back to WoW. I remember knowing that someone would make videos like these reflecting on destiny raid content in the future because they're just that special
As soon as he went to say the name of the first encounter I got one of those vaping commercials. “The first encounter, known as, VAPING MADE IT HARD TO PLAY BASEBALL”
The funny thing is the sanctified mind is actually one of if not the oldest vex in existence. It is referred to as the father of the original tree of silver wings and the massive tree stump in the black garden is the original tree's remains after the gardener(light/traveler) and winnower(darkness/doritos) waged war within the garden before time. Slaying the sanctified and consecrated mind made the sol divisive lose control over the garden.
GOS will always have a special place in my heart, it was the first raid i played that actually challenged our team every time i played it. Maybe last wish, but i never ran it as mutch as garden. Also the boss music in sanctified mind’s boss battle is one if my favorite boss themes in the game, that seconds fase drop is just 🔥
I never knew that consecrated mind was a strike boss from d1 and I played it on the ps4, and I had a feeling about the undying mind from d1 as well. Honestly, that’s pretty damn cool. Like S.A.B.E.R and Taniks in DSC.
I might be crazy but the Undying Mind strike boss room was enclosed with a vex gate at the back of the room. The first encounter of GoS looks much more like it’s across from the final vanilla D1 story mission at the heart of the black garden.
I can honestly say that after 15 clears, i have never finished the undergrowth jumping puzzle. I get to the chest, try a few different things, then say the frustrated "pull me forward"

I remember back in Destiny 1 before Destiny 2 came out, I had an idea for a Cabal raid. It would go similar to Operation Red Flag from Halo where we would steal a cabal ship, travel to the Cabal capital, sneak around the war hammer 40k styled obnoxiously large city to assassinate the Cabal emperor. Escaping would be a hail mary back to the ship we came on and travel back to Sol. We got Leviathan instead which could’ve been much more, but is still really cool due to Calus and his connection to the Hive and Darkness.
One reason why I think that deep stone crypt is the best raid is because there’s always different ways to do it. It’s always fun to have the liberty to challenge yourself in different raids like the old d1 raids
@@shugoo7599 last wish is still in the game and is way better and harder, spire is a lot harder, sure it was buggy, but it's not like garden isn't either lol, garden is very weak
I will forever be one of the 4 people who like this raid lol, the Mechanics are actually encouraging teamplay instead of 2 people sit and do nothing while the other 4 do everything else (not that I hate Vow at all I love it in fact).
I would love to play this raid again but when beyond light came out I can’t access the moon activities on all 3 of my characters and on my titan and warlock can’t open the tangled shore and it’s stuck on last call but won’t load the mission. Does anyone else have this problem
I've run the garden raid so many times I can't count. If there is one big thing to remember. Out of all roles the most important thing to have is good builders. You can have gambit gods and all the right guns but if you start loosing platforms too fast you will die nomatter what. Once spent 3 hours on final boss kept being overwhelmed by nowhere to stand. Swapped out one of the builders for a more experienced clan member. First try 2 phase
That shiny Vex armor from Season of the Undying should have been the raid armor. It looks so cool! And very fitting, even more fitting with the weapons more than the actual GoS armor. and i dont have it
People need to finally accept the fact that this level of release is what you’re going to get every year. Every single release since forsaken people have complained and are waiting on this big game reviving release Bungie has in the works, and it’s not there. These releases just like beyond light is Bungies peak on what they can create and offer. They can’t offer things like they used to and they refuses to just come out and say that but it’s been years now and it obvious. People have to accept it and support it or just move on. It’s hard to hear but it’s true.
Me and my LFG group spent 6 hours and got to the boss encounter... then 3 of them quit knowing BEFOREHAND that it would take a very long time... and until this day I didn't finish this raid
I’ve stayed up 4 days in a row just to get to the power level for the boss plus the frames were so terrible (I was on Xbox at the time) that it was a roll of the dice if we had a good run... the last day 2 of my fire team left so we found two randoms on Reddit and beat it to get the raid jacket. I literally had a nightmare of my friends telling me to shoot the cyclops each time a portal opened
To me the final boss was pretty cool to fight and it makes everyone have a role and have to keep moving. And he had some nice and cool attacks too making u have to create the floor again after he destroys it and etc But the armor do was pretty cool tbh
just tried to sherpa my underleveled pvp friends through garden last night, so it's funny Evan uploaded today. We only did about 1/5 of damage per dps phase, and we decided to quit at 5am. I was using div, and we only had 3 xenos. the boss sucks :-(
Redeem took forever to get it completed lol. Probably because there wasn't any exploits for them to take advantage of. Also contest mode would not be as fun as hard mode. Just having tankier enemies that hit harder doesn't make it fun. Hard mode in D1 is a better idea because the enemies are a little tougher, more numerous, and has added mechanics.
I was stuck on sanctified mind for 12 hrs straight switching teams constantly . it was a nightmare and I didn't get the completion until the next day 😔
The problem I have with this raid is that it doesn’t reward you enough for knowing what to do and that no one can have a hero moment, it’s still so easy to get caught up even when you know what to do
This is one of the hardest raid boss fights because it requires the entire raid team to pull their own weight, which is difficult for all 6 players to do consistently if you're using LFG. It really punishes good players, while being entirely impossible for slow losers
This being the last raid up to this point means we could get videos on these things Seasons Dungeons Events (SRL, Dawning, stuff like that) Prison of Elders
y'know, I enjoy Shadowkeep more than Forsaken, Shit is overrated. Garden of salvation is undoubtedly the most beautiful raid in D2 history and my second favorite, Behind Wrath. While Forsaken changed the meta away from a double primary to a more diverse one while shadowkeep introduced armor 2.0, one of the most important end-game grinds in the game today, Master strikes and such which led to grandmasters soon after and also introduced free to play, almost doubling the player-base size.
I did and still do Divinity runs for GoS so it’ll always hold a special place in my heart. Of the 40+ clears I have, 30 of those were sherpas according to raid report - and I only started running this raid a season after its release. Sanctified Mind mechanics are a bitch for newbies.
I have no regrets in saying this, this is by far my least favorite of all of the raids within Destiny’s history. Bar none, the worst raid I ever had the displeasure of doing, and I had to grind through it so much since it was the only new raid from last year
This raid looks like it was literally just vault of glass but inside the black garden. Think about it: first, through a big vex door. Then, defend some big spike's so the vex don't sacrifice to them, whilst the first boss is around trying to kill you. Next, fight the boss, using the raid mechanic to make it vunerable to damage. Then you go through an area, which I guarantee was going to involve hiding from something so it does wipe the entire team. Then jumping puzzle, and onto a boss which is just a big gate lord. What's the mechanic? Go through two different portal's, work away with the mechanics from the first boss fight and it's prelude, then onto DPS, rinse and repeat until something is dead.

The people I know that hate it, hate it because of two reasons, poor communication, which is bound to happen at some point, and getting DIV…..which is a fucking nightmare, even to this day.
This raid would be my favorite due to its mechanics, but the narrative in relation to shadowkeep was less than something like Kings Fall or Last Wish.
@@TheABelGuitar d2 VoG was not tied in and grasp like you said cause it was just released with 30th anniversary and VoG was put in a legend playlist
Started playing destiny for the first time 2 weeks after beyond light came out. In 3 weeks I got eyes of tomorrow 6th try. 1k voices on my first LW chest. And finally completed divinity quest on my third garden clear. I spent 50% of all that time on sanctified mind div run.
Oof
Bro i still dont have Eyes even i completed the Raid on every Char every week fuck RNG

my man evan, thank you for putting in all the time you do into these videos, really makes a huge difference in quality, i’m able to re watch these vids over and over
16:57 I wonder, is that the original tree of silver wings? I mean, I know it doesn’t look like the one we found, but the lore said it was reduced to a smoldering stump, and plus since it was destroyed at what was basically the beginning point of time, it makes sense it was overgrown, seeing that the gardener (light) had left and the winowner ( darkness) only tended to what it saw necessary to destroy.
Temptation is still in my Top 3 Raid music. It's such a jam. I played it for my garden and the plants kept swaying even when the music stopped
It’s on my Spotify playlist 😳
I don't know it someone said that but Evan is the Community Historian this community deserves.
Besides the Lore Masters which are really knowledgeable, he really is something else. Thank you Evan, Jeep it up ❤
I got my divinity with my team.
There's almost no reason to do this raid again.
I remember playing vault of glass on release back In D1. Raided heavily all the way through D1 and cleared leviathan in D2 before quitting destiny and coming back to WoW. I remember knowing that someone would make videos like these reflecting on destiny raid content in the future because they're just that special
I loved the PS4-Harpy's Strike Loot for Warlock
As soon as he went to say the name of the first encounter I got one of those vaping commercials. “The first encounter, known as, VAPING MADE IT HARD TO PLAY BASEBALL”
9:15 peaceful, serene, calming music
Some random guardian: //tyler1 gun sounds//
The funny thing is the sanctified mind is actually one of if not the oldest vex in existence. It is referred to as the father of the original tree of silver wings and the massive tree stump in the black garden is the original tree's remains after the gardener(light/traveler) and winnower(darkness/doritos) waged war within the garden before time. Slaying the sanctified and consecrated mind made the sol divisive lose control over the garden.
Have you thought about covering the dungeons in D2? Those would be a good way to take up some time until VoG comes out.
GOS will always have a special place in my heart, it was the first raid i played that actually challenged our team every time i played it. Maybe last wish, but i never ran it as mutch as garden. Also the boss music in sanctified mind’s boss battle is one if my favorite boss themes in the game, that seconds fase drop is just 🔥
I’ve learned there are two things the Destiny community absolutely hates: change and the way things are
I never knew that consecrated mind was a strike boss from d1 and I played it on the ps4, and I had a feeling about the undying mind from d1 as well. Honestly, that’s pretty damn cool. Like S.A.B.E.R and Taniks in DSC.
"This Raid is a snoozefest" bruh its one of the hardest raids weve had until now
I might be crazy but the Undying Mind strike boss room was enclosed with a vex gate at the back of the room. The first encounter of GoS looks much more like it’s across from the final vanilla D1 story mission at the heart of the black garden.
I enjoy the look and song of this raid. I like how the raid armors looks.
What if I told you the armor was just reskinned eververse armor.
@@Wevaah except it GLOWS ooooo
You must of never played curse of Osiris if you think this armor looks good or is new.
I can honestly say that after 15 clears, i have never finished the undergrowth jumping puzzle. I get to the chest, try a few different things, then say the frustrated "pull me forward"
I just hope one day, Destiny will become completely open world.
In the future
Unfortunately, with Bungie at the helm, I don't see that being likely, especially with how poorly optimized the game is.
@@kalebdavis7080 you must have a crap computer/console. ive never run anything but highest graphics with a mediocre laptop, and i never have any issues
@@broputer i'm not referring to textures, I'm referring to filesize. the reason Bungie deleted half the game's content wasn't because it was necessary, they're so bad at file optimization and file compression/distortion that instead of fixing it, they just removed it.
@@broputer destiny 2 runs like complete ass. It used to run better but the new lighting engine completely fucked it. They are aware of the issue and are working on it. I hope they fix it because my god it runs badly.
Damn Evans video names are as creative as my breakfast... and I eat cereal every single day xD
One reason why I think that deep stone crypt is the best raid is because there’s always different ways to do it. It’s always fun to have the liberty to challenge yourself in different raids like the old d1 raids
Evan: "Raids are easy outside of contest mode"
Me: * cries in solo player *
Nothing the companion app can't fix.
Now if only the invite system was working as you have to friend teammates for them to join the fireteam.
Open the discord lfg?
Idk why but for some reason this guy is the only one who makes raid videos that I can actually watch all the way through
This is my absolute favourite raid in destiny 2
My team stopped at the consecrated mind. We were so beat after 10 hours of this raid and we were also on last gen consoles. It was hard.
I will never go back into this raid two 9 hour days just to get divinity and have people constantly leave or lag out. Yea I'm good.
Right here with you. This raid is so weak
@@kevinleedenman yall can’t be saying that when this is the only challenging raid in destiny
Does anyone else have this problem
try to go to the quest archive right next to the postmaster behind the stairs
Do the starting mission for tangled shore escaping the prison riots. Not sure about moon but I assume you need shadowkeeps starting missio
Go to the quest archive. It will be in legacy section of it. Grab it and your good to go.
I don’t know about you, but I really hate this raid, and even more so the quest for Div, really, I may be the only one, but this is so heatable

I love being on Bulid Team
One of my favorite raids ngl, went into it completely blind like a month ago and it was an experience. Only played it once but want to run it again
Ah Garden, the raid that easily could have made Year 3 good. Seriously I have 3 Garden clears and 19 DSC, I think I have a favorite
Mmhmm Preach Forcer
The raid should have brought you into the black garden and just nightmares of old bosses
"Shocking", "Controversial", "Shook"...

GoS is my favorite raid. Sitting at 250+ clears :)
I’ve helped dozens of teams get their first clears or divinity
Shockingly a pain in the ass :v
I’ve stayed up 4 days in a row just to get to the power level for the boss plus the frames were so terrible (I was on Xbox at the time) that it was a roll of the dice if we had a good run...
the last day 2 of my fire team left so we found two randoms on Reddit and beat it to get the raid jacket.
I literally had a nightmare of my friends telling me to shoot the cyclops each time a portal opened
Do you not recognize us, we are your
SALVATION
SYNTH INTENSIFIES
Garden is my favorite raid, but i also hate it with a burning pashion
Why every one keep saying "Let's go" after a fight lol
To me the final boss was pretty cool to fight and it makes everyone have a role and have to keep moving. And he had some nice and cool attacks too making u have to create the floor again after he destroys it and etc
But the armor do was pretty cool tbh
Ive never clicked so fast. Been waiting for this vid for a while.
just tried to sherpa my underleveled pvp friends through garden last night, so it's funny Evan uploaded today. We only did about 1/5 of damage per dps phase, and we decided to quit at 5am. I was using div, and we only had 3 xenos. the boss sucks :-(
Shadowkeep had 3 missions. Even rise of iron had more than that. When bungie was slaving under activision content was good.
And we would be playing d1 launch 3.0 yay
I absolutely love the scenery of this raid. The black garden before the boss is beautiful 😌
Evan I just want you to know you have made my 2020 better
I wish raids had discovery mode to learn raids after first clear confirm like Division 2.
This being the last raid up to this point means we could get videos on these things
Seasons
Dungeons
Events (SRL, Dawning, stuff like that)
Prison of Elders
y'know, I enjoy Shadowkeep more than Forsaken, Shit is overrated.
Bar none, the worst raid I ever had the displeasure of doing, and I had to grind through it so much since it was the only new raid from last year
I would love it if people weren’t so trashy at it. It was fine last year, but now the only people who do gos are noobs
Just sounds like you and your raid team suck. Base playlist strikes might be more your speed.
@@mtiotps2110 Big talk when you reply to a comment over a year old. Mechanics sucked and I will die on that hill.
Top tier raid imo
ONE DOES NOT CONSIDER JOY WHEN INTERJECTING THOUGHOUT TIME ..... BUT THIS DOES LIGHT UP MY CRIT SPOT
