Anyone find it a bit poetic that Obama's first presidental opponent would actually be one of the three votes to save Obamacare?

As a man facing his own mortality, I am glad he doesn't want the last votes he casts to be those that would arguably kill 43,000 Americans. THAT would just be unconscionable. And Senator McCain is a way better man than that. He's one Republican I could have voted for had Obama not been his opponent and Palin not his VP pick.

McCain was way more moderate in the 2000s. Wanted immigration reform, and was worried about climate change. Its a shame that Ted Kennedy and McCain were so old in these last few decades.
The Senate needed some of the old guard that worked together well.

When asked why a Republican would vote NO, Senator McCain gave the best reason of all.... He said "I don't work for the Republican Party..... I work for the people of Arizona, including the 600,000+ Arizona Residents this bill would leave with no insurance..."
The only reason to repeal the ACA would be if it was being replaced by something better...

lmao yeah dude, getting fucked due to "preexisting conditions" bullshit is just fine.
Also, people blame the premiums issue on obamacare, but premiums were rising a lot before then too. From what data i can find, in 2010-2016 you see yearly annual premium increases of like 5%, 10%, and 4%. But in 2000-2010 you also see premium increases per year like 11%, 6%, 10%, 12%, 5%. The problem predates obamacare, as far as I can tell, but I'm not a expert on this data.

Zoid No, Arizona implemented ACA by accepting federal funding for the expansion of medicaid. The ununisured population in the state went from 17% to 10%. The state's leadership was in support of ACA by their actions even through they would lie to their based and say they were not in support, especially Gov Brewer who led AZ ACA implementation with vigor. McCain was just supporting his state's decision. Also, if you remember the healthcare exchange idea originally came from a republican thinktank and was later introduced as a bill by republicans in 1993 as a counter proposal to Hillary Clinton's single payer proposal. McCain supported that 1993 republican proposal that Romney (a republican) would later implement in Massachusetts. Obamacare, is in fact, a republican idea, with republican legislative authors, and the only state to ever implement it was done by a republican Gov. McCain was really just being a party man by supporting the republican orthodoxy on the issue. He was not being a maverick. He didn't leave the party, they republican party left him.

And to those who criticize him i ask, what have you guys/girls done for this country? Because the actions I see and the way you're portraying yourselves as to talking down about a man that's not even around to defend himself anymore, seems MAJOR COWARDLY to me. I don't agree with everything Mccain has said, far from it, and you don't have to either, but give this man the respect and decency, as a war hero, and as a human being. That's something you can never take away what he's done for this country, far greater a man, American and patriot than half of you can even dream you were. Utubeconsen No, Arizona implemented ACA by accepting federal funding for the expansion of medicaid.

Hayden, I would love for you to try and explain how Donald Trump IS NOT a traitor to the United States, and to the world in general. Michael Cohen just recently replied, UNDER OATH (which means if this is false then Cohen gets slapped with a perjury offense but why would he do that?) that Donald Trump directed him to make payments to porn stars using "donated" money which means that Trump is now guilty of violating campaign finance law. It is also pretty plain and simple to see that Donald also broke the emoluments clause by accepting help from a foreign entity to try and influence an election. Need I go on?

Most of the time the room is empty. Even during votes, they're spread out over an hour or so and senators come in one at a time to vote.
