but did he do it because he thought the repeal of the Bill was wrong ? the Republicans all round and even some Democrats had strongly opposed the bill. In fact Democrats also felt that the bill was responsible for their massive losses in successive mid terms during Obama presidency. He probably did it because Donald Trump said of him that he likes people who were not caught indicating McCain had surrendered during the Vietnam war. And asked him how he managed to buy 6 houses after leaving the army. Certainly not possible on the support grant the army provides. He did to prevent President Trump from enacting a major reform or poll promise. President Trump had promised he would abolish Obamacare if voted to power.
The Obamacare bill has not done much. It has brought more people under formal insurance but insurance premium have not gone down but only up.

Istarted a busniess after movinfg across the coutry. I taught at a college and have written for various online platforms for living but I always wanted by own business. So I began to build one. Then, out of the blue, I got really sick with a rare autoimmune-neurological illness. Obamacare (the ACA) is hardly perfect but without it, I'd be dead, along with millions of other Americans. My undergrad degree is acually American History. What he did that day was the the greatest thing he ever did, IMO, and I am very grateful that he again showed what it is to be an American first and to be willing to cross the aisle when he thought it was the right thing to do. Thank you Senator McCain. You really truly did show again that you were a maverick that day. Trump is a fool, this is what real heroes do and what real American do.

The wild cheers of joy and relief from the big crowd gathered outside vs the arms crossed anger, and almost tearful defeat in McConnell's voice: Will he ever watch that segment and realize that he is supposed to work FOR the American people? He, Ryan and Trump have all fought like troopers to replace the ACA with a much worse and much more expensive option, in a country where 80% of the population wants some variation of a single payer system. They are supposed to be public servants, not public self servants! Every time they are defeated on this, people all over the US are cheering like crazy from their streets, town squares, coaches and wheelchairs. We hear and see you very clearly in Europe. The Republicans in Washington don't. The Tea party movement was born from a Republican outrage over Obama's determination and success in passing a bill that ensured affordable healthcare to a large part of the population that previously had none. Now it's your turn to do the same, and hopefully with even greater success. Make sure they get the message, loud and clear, in 2018. Mobilize! The 10% at the top may well have 90% of the capital in your country. But 90% of the people have 90% of the votes.

God I love watching this moment as it shows the reality of Congress. The look of failure and disappointment in Grinchy Mitch is just pure gold. I remember when this happened and so many feared that McCain was coming just to pass the bill only to pull a total Darth Vader and through Mitch into an abyss. John McCain was an American Hero and I have so much respect for him. He is responsible for saving so many people's lives during this pandemic.

The only disappointment is the fact that McConnell's constituents are too caught up in their " conservative" bubbles to realize that they are only screwing themselves over and over again by reelecting Mitch McConnell, Some people will continue to learn their lessons the hard way based on the choices they continue to make.

I lived in Australia for 13 months and used their government healthcare system and it was totally fine! I loved being able to just go pick up my prescription when I needed it and just going to the doctor when I needed it, even when i didn't have the money to afford it was awesome! I think a lot of people on the right who are exaggerating the problems with government-funded healthcare have no actual experience with it! My experience was positive and I'm excited for us to have that here in the States!

We as voters regardless of political party affiliation have to do better in terms of who we vote for and why . Our votes are our voices and together they are powerful tools to help effect change in this country so that everyone has an equal opportunity to grow, thrive and be the very best we know we all can be. Our votes should be based on the issues that affect our daily lives and not because of a R or D behind the name of the candidate vying to represent us.

Bipartisanship also begins with trust and respect for differences of opinion.
