I “love” that UA-cam does not prioritize it’s creators or fanbase.
UA-cam doesn't have a fanbase, the creators do.

@@tikiman1900 See, the thing is, there was a time when there was a strong positive opinion of YT among people that exist.
And then YT murdered it with a hatchet.
We're not the customers, shareholders are.
We're the product for sale.
The sad thing is that the majority of the users probably like the changes...
They made the UI worse AGAIN!?
yes
Just another common UA-cam L.
UA-cam trying not to ruin its own website for no reason challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Those absolute goblins! They don't miss!
Yeah, I just had the playlists disappear from the sidebar and I'm already erupting in vaporizing urine.
I also love when UA-cam decides to highlight random comments one at a time in a little box under the video, but then when you actually want to interact with said comment you can’t and have to scroll through like half the comment section to find it
I hate when it does that for longer videos and it pulls up a comment that spoils what I’m watching.
It's distracting and pulls my focus away from the video every time, if I want to look at the comments I'll just look at the comments!
Holy moly, finally someone said it
It's so irritating
They're attempting to get eyes on their app for longer amounts of time, and I fucking hate that they're succeedinh
oh boy i sure love the fact that now i need like at least 5 extensions and 20 ublock filters in order to keep youtube enjoyable, this is the closest i'll ever be to an "i can fix him" relationship
Just reinstalled Enhancer for UA-cam to fix this latest annoyance
Just added a uBlock filter from reddit to clean up the horrible recently introduced search page clutter ("People also searched for")
If you don't have an adblock, then eventually you'll also need an extensionthat changes it back to skipping both ads rather than being a next button on the first one.
maybe this is what they want? Like collective punishment for using adblockers, so now since there is so much that we need to change they are hoping people will just give in and say "okay fine we won't use adblockers". fucking ridiculous if this is the case
@@JustAnAcorn oh god I’ve heard of this thing. That is so damn annoying! I’m not updating my UA-cam app for a while.
UA-cam is really cutting themselves "short" with this one
This made my day
More like making "shorts" of themselves
I can't read a sentence in this format without "Eh? Ha. He He." now.
well done
Oh boo
I swear nothing on this planet throws me into such a blinding fit of rage as when I search for something on youtube, only for it to deliver me literally every other video on the platform except for the one I want to find
I have at times typed in the exact title of the video only for it to not give me the video at all, BUT when I use a vaguer search it gives me it. God this website is so dumb.

someone should tell the modern ui designers that “if it aint broke, dont fix it” quote
Lol but then they'd be out of a job! 🙄
that wont work because the designers are deaf and blind
They are trying to justify their job. UA-cam basically runs itself. If they didn’t change anything from 2014 to now it would still be as big as it is today. The entire UA-cam team is completely worthless and just changes stuff for no reason.
@@Username-2 Like you said, they have to justify their job, management is stupid and thinks that if the programmers aren't writing lines of 0s and 1s with weird symbols because it isn't necessary, then why are they paying them? So the programmers have to keep changing stuff to not get fired.
I have a theory that every time a new manager is brought on to a project that's working well they have to get someone to change the UI just to visibly show that they're "doing their job". It's never been proved wrong.
Whenever people complain about new layouts to me it's like hearing a banshee's cry, signalling an oncoming demise. Because this hasn't happened to me yet. It took months before my image layouts got screwed over when everyone was complaining it was happening on twitter. But that came for me, and one day this will, too
I will not know the day nor hour, but I do know I will not get a sound night's rest again... Until it is too late...
For me it happened a while ago, but then got reverted after a few days.
I wonder if they're targeting certain resolutions, I get the new layout for videos on my vertical monitor but my widescreen is safe for now.
nobody knows the day or the hour but we must pray that it never comes

Wonder why big corpos even do rolling updates if they won't accept feedback and won't roll back.
See the Satan Minion that replaced Ronald McDonald. We got it more than a year than everyone else, being a "test market", the test was an abject failure with universal rejection but they rolled it globally and buried the clown without an eulogy anyway
This update is SO atrociously bad that I went out of my way to find an extension reverting things to how they were before. Took me 30 minutes but it was worth it. Now, let's see how long it works before UA-cam changes everything again in the worst way possible...
thank you, the update hasn't reached me yet, and as soon as it does I'll have some homework to do, not seeing that outside of this video
If you can can you provide the name of it so i can install it when the change happens to me
Please sir, can you tell us the extension?

It should be up to the browser to decide how to present the content. It should be customisable by the user.
There are technical reasons why. For one, the author has no control over what device it is rendered on. Best viewed in Netscape Navigator at 800x600? You're doing it wrong. Responsive design? How well does it respond to grayscale e-ink displays and screen readers? There's a reason we abandoned table layouts.
But, it's too late now. CSS has given the designer everything that's needed to ditch JavaScript, and in doing so turned HTML into a poor but animated imitation of PDF. And JavaScript is used more than ever to replace Flash, Silverlight, ActiveX, and Java Applets. What SMIL was supposed to do.
If you want to control the exact layout and colour scheme of a document, that's what PDF is for. If you want a thin client, that's what a display server is for. For audio and video there has always been the object tag, allowing your favourite video player to be embedded in the page, no plugins or extensions necessary. MIME is magic.
But no. Although technically the video tag is an alias of the object tag, the video codecs are now compiled into the browser, and the UI elements are in JavaScript, because fuck you, the designer decides for you how you consume content.
Best viewed in our Electron app on any cooperating Smart TV.

My favorite thing they've done is automatically play any video at 2X speed whenever I use picture-in-picture. Even after changing every single setting it never changes. Wonderful idea from the brilliant, definitely not monstrous, minds that run UA-cam.
I thought it was a bug in my youtube app. I hope it was just a bug
I read "run UA-cam" as "ruin UA-cam"
Debatably it still makes sense
It's because when you swipe up you accidentally trigger the feature to hold for 2x playback speed. It's useful to an extent but personally more of a burden than anything because I do it all the time too. I wish there was some setting to turn it off.
I just wish I could turn picture-in-picture off. I despise it.

I assume it's a slow roll out like the dislike removal. If enough people stop using UA-cam because of this change they won't go through with it. The problem is, this change is almost surely going to accomplish what they want. So we're all gonna have to use an extension to fix this soon enough.
I wonder if there'll be a chrome extension for the old layout like there are dislikes
@@The404Admin I think there already is an extension for this
you just know DAMN well the UA-cam character checked off "absolutely fantastic" while audibly saying "Just checking... 'Bad'..."
I love the feeling of looking at shorts and being unfulfilled when they end. I really appreciate how creators have found a way to adapt the strategem of filling a video with 90% nothing until the end to farm engagement to an even shorter format, where you somehow feel even worse for watching a minute of video for 1 short sentence of content.
If I can't find the comments how will I figure out what the man is carrying.
its the whole website im afraid
I was lucky enough to be in the 50% of users that didn’t get the change (yet)
I’ve just been getting gore shoved in my face whenever I try to search anything.
Definitely my favourite part of the UA-cam algorithm

"Are you sure you wouldn't rather watch this video about a lady who got eaten by a crocodile?"
@@deltahalo241 it’s completely deliberate on YT’s part too. They removed the block and hide functions and they force it on you no matter what you do. The worst one I’ve seen was a year old and marked “for kids”

Mustn't forget to "love" how they also made the brilliant decision to use automated moderation that is so "thorough" that comments randomly get deleted for no apparent reason, but seems more likely to happen if the tone of the message doesn't sound very positive in its phrasing, for our own safety of course. It's absolutely great how they do that.
I... LOVE that too. It's so... great. Just, so very... great.
They also changed the layout for viewing comments on videos from the notifications menu on mobile, so it now looks like if 12 year old me tried to recreate the UA-cam comment UI in sharefactory on PS4 😭

I have an extension that completely removes shorts from the entire website, and it was an amazing choice.
Wasn't expecting UA-cam to be played by Jack Nicholson but I am pleasantly surprised
I had that layout very briefly like a year ago, didn't think they were actually gonna use it for real.
The only good(?) thing about it is how you can read the comments and description without scrolling away from the video when you're not in theatre mode.
You know sometimes I’ll be low on time and miss some videos from man and then when I do have time I’ll take like 10-20 minutes to catch up on what I’ve missed
In the end he never misses an upload, what a legend
Dude, I'm so happy you've brought it up, you must be the first creator who did. I couldn't believe my eyes when this idiotic update dropped a few days ago and I've been pissed ever since. Keep up the great work!
Fun Fact: At first they used a prop door, but it was too easy for Google to break down so the props department had to build a much stronger door. This is because before Google played UA-cam they worked as a volunteer fire marshal.
they also fed google nothing but cheese sandwiches
These are the sort of decisions only a company that knows they have no competition can make.
Good news everyone, seems like they reverted it back! I had the new layout and I am back to the old one! :) And no I didn't do anything to change it.
i dont think ive gotten this yet, im scared
my favorite recent change in the app is the “next video” popup over the video, where the “ok” button is where the pause button was a second before. so, if i want to pause the video before the end, i’ll often accidentally click on the random suggested video instead 😣
i wish that there was a way to disable these misfeatures, which currently not even paying users can!
This change happened to me several weeks ago and was driving me crazy, but I didn't see anyone else online even mention it. Then it reverted back for me, but now everyone else is getting the update. Weird.
I´m so ready for the Man Carrying Thing horror arc, where every video from now on has a distressing undertone underlined with droning ambient music which will eventually result in a horror ARG that will be covered by other youtubers with a title like "this youtuber has a dark secret" and the thumbnail has the text "not what he seems to be" written on it!
Extensions, man, I got UA-cam back to mostly normal with those.
This happened so many times already. It’s as if there’s a person at UA-cam who HAS TO make MEANINGLESS changes that HURT the user experience every once in a while just to keep their job.
- Hey Tim, what did you do this year?
- I, uuhhmm, uuuuuuh, changed the way you access playlists from mobile version. Now instead of pressing “You” and then scrolling for the playlist you want, you have press “See All” to get to your playlists. Because one extra MEANINGLESS BUTTON is exactly what the users want!
i had this layout change happen to me a few weeks ago where it lasted for a few days before just suddenly vanishing again. At the time i could only find one other person talking about it and none of my friends experienced it. If it actually rolls out for real this time i will scream.
noticed it for a second on my phone while i was on my break at work the other day and immediately thought 'im already at work, dont make it any worse please'
I can’t believe you uploaded this the day I first watched The Shining
I literally screamed in agony when I saw this change yesterday. :(
i haven't gotten this update yet and i can only hope that by the time it reaches me someone will have created an extension to change it back. youtube really was like "what if you were reading the comments on your tiny phone screen, but ON EVERY DEVICE"
i was waiting for someone to make a video about this
You are very right about the comments feeling scrunched. Crazy that they broke an almost two decade precedent of the left column of the page being dedicated to everything related to the current video just to optimize an extra like .2% average CTR per video or something.
why does UA-cam need to be every other social media. "These other platforms have comments on the side, lets do that!" Bro they're poorly thought out desktop webapps, you don't need to do that, widescreen is the standard on desktop for a reason.
UA-cam is an absolute legend. Always missing with such quality, and consistency
Every now and then, before watching a video I get a survey about ads or brands instead of a rehular ad, and every single time I tap on whatever option without reading it, knowing absolutely everyone else does the same, and asking myself how useful the data can be.
I've had shorts disabled ever since I tried browsing my liked videos to rewatch a bit of a 4 hr stream, which, UA-cam decided should be in the Shorts viewer. A 4 hour stream. With no skipping. It has been a godsend of a fix.
Hyped for the final youtube UI update where neal mohan breaks into my house and straps an iphone onto both my eyeballs so the algorithm can autoplay mr breast feastables ads for the rest of eternity
UA-cam makes UA-cam happy because UA-cam deserves to be happy and that makes entire world UA-cam.
He fills out customer surveys, the absolute legend!
i love when billion dollar corporations make their UI worse for no reason
Wtf even is UA-cam playables?
Like now I can play cut the rope on UA-cam but can search for a video??
I keep my UA-cam in "Theatre" mode and that has helped significantly cause the layout barely changes, and I get a wider screen!
This is so on point. I thought something was wrong with my UA-cam browser. So I tried opening a new tab 😂. And the whole “I’m not going to hurt you” well done on this video
UA-cam is the exact opposite of the Man Carrying Thing. They are not an absolute legend and they always miss.
What a delightful video! Im really glad to have watched it. Now i cant wait to engage with the creator and community by typing a comment in the comment section! I hope people can see my comment through youtube's layout
The double unskippable ads and the 15-30 second one at the end of the video have been my 13th reason
"Just checking, engaged"
The person who has been eagerly refreshing the page in anticipation of this video can finally relax.
Man Carrying Relatability
My favorite part is that comments aren’t always being properly posted to the intended videos anymore. I’ve seen multiple comments talking about topics entirely unrelated to the video, and even a comment I made on a Minecraft short ended up posting to some random other video I saw the same day, which I only noticed when the creator of the second video hearted the comment.
UA-cam sure knows that people will still consume it, despite their protests.
I can’t see any of these
I can’t see any of Deez Nuts
My farts do not even hold a candle to Man Carrying Thing's farts.
Yes, I love that thing too. Also, I have not watched this video. Edit: I have never seen this thing in my entire life. I think your computer is probably broken or you’re living in a different universe.
it's coming
It's probably just broken, yeah. BUT! Companies like youtube roll out some changes for a limited amount of users to gauge the reaction before committing to a full rollout for everyone. So he might just be one of the "lucky" people they decided to test it on.
@@abdulmasaiev9024 They've been testing it for a few months now. I'm convinced it's coming for everyone very soon...

We went from UA-cam focusing on short sketches, to long formed video essay or vlogumentary styled videos to put ads in, now back to short form, but not sketch short, just brain rot short
I hate customer surveys so very very much. I'm so sick of being asked to answer a few questions every time I talk to my job's HR over the phone or after talking to a doctor. I'm sick of being asked to fill out surveys on every receipt I get from Walmart or fast food. Fuck surveys! Fuck polls! And especially fuck the assholes in marketing who came up with them!
Seeing the quotation marks in the title, I assume that man carrying thing actually does NOT like the change
It's actually a really clever tactic in my opinion. Really throws the viewer off, because upon first reading, they might not ever notice it. A pretty decent setup for a joke. 8.9/10
Thank you for pointing out that UA-cam keeps asking for feedback even as they continually make the service worse and demonstrably do not care what users actually think.
Remember when the worst thing UA-cam did was remove dislikes?
I wanna go back to that.
Thing man carrying

Weirdly, my layout was messed up for a good 3 weeks, and then it randomly fixed itself one day. I had grown so accustomed to the new bad one that I almost said "No, bring the other one back."
...ALMOST.
I clicked an X that closed the shorts tab. Said they would be hidden for 30 days. The only positive thing I have seen so far.
ho boy
it's that time of the year again
this is definetly better, why I have 80% of the screen with comments, when I am much more interested in suggested videos but they only take 20% of the screen somewhere on the right. comments as a static list is old design too, we should have them appear floating somewhere around a video they are relevant to a part of the video we are watching, like live stream
It was over faster than it was rolled out to everyone
thank god for extensions that can turn it back to the old layout
I had to deal with this around a month ago, but luckily it reverted back to normal for me.
I use an ad blocker to block the web page element that shows the "Shorts" on the recommended list under a video. It helps so much. Now if I could just block Shorts" on my home page and "Subscribed" list, that would be great.
I am glad they walked this back. At least on my computer it is back the way it was. I did like that the videos on your home page weren't gone immediatly.
I haven't had this (maybe it's a model versus browser thing?), but what I have noticed is scrolling through my feed (on mobile) and every second or third post is not only an ad, but literally the EXACT SAME AD.
I understood that reference
The misses legend! He never, absolute
Reminds me of the old 2006 era youtube where the video description was on the far right of the screen above the recommended videos.
The best part is that, at least on my screen, there are MORE suggested videos in view when they're on the side. Also the titles are actually visible. There was absolutely no positive effect of moving everything around like they did.
Strangely enough my UA-cam hasn't been changed yet. I pray that it stays that way.
