Would I be able to do this without doing an oil change??

Yes. Be very careful, drain coolant first, don’t let anything get in the oil, but oil change after highly highly recommended

I have 2002 Dakota 3.9v6 too it has coolant leak from timing cover gasket.
I did waterpump thermostat new tension idler pulley.
Remove powersteering check freeze plug behind.
After reinstall. Heard a bang something not aligned aint powersteering.
    Could be time chain.
Haven't taken everything off cause im concern about timing cover removal.
Then seen this video. Now im going add two three tools to my growing box.
If you see amazon thing from your list, thats me.
Unless i find same tool locally but doubt it.

So I got a ‘96 dakoter and she’s got the 3.9l v6 but was wondering what the part numbers and stuff were so I could get the right stuff. I gotta map out the prices and everything first.

Doing a complete timing chain/oil pan gasket now. It's a 95 has no tensioner but a guide. In-between the 98 style.

Thank you for this! I managed to get everything pulled apart and my parts all cleaned up, but its been 2 weeks and this refresher is exactly what I need before I replace it all!
My oil pan gasket got ripped off when I pulled the timing belt cover (heard its common) should I just RTV the hell out of it when i reinstall everything or pull the whole oil pan and replace the gasket? (2003 Dodge Dakota)
