Hey funny thing. I've got a 2002 and it's leaking down there somewhere there's always a wet spot right underneath the water pump so I'm going to have to do that too, but the mileage on my truck is 171,000 just like yours.
Did you have trouble getting the hose back on under the ac compressor? I don't think I saw you do it. I saw another video where the metal tube had to be taken off the old pump and re-installed on the new one. That was for the 2000 model. Any thoughts? Good video.
Yes i did have trouble. I guess i didnt record it but when installong the new pump you line up the hose onto the water pump port and slowly wiggle the hose on while at the same time lining up the pump to the motor. It was a hassle but possible
So my water pump isnt leaking, but my fan is Knocking all arlund and making horrible noises. The clutch and fan are fine, but there is play in the water pump pulley, so the fan is bouncing all around.. sounds like the bearings went. Thanks for the help man!
@@hyr0llr yeaa lol. My parts store isn't open so I used vice grips on the pulley to keep still, and 12inch crescent wrench instead of the 36mm open wrench. Got it! Thanks again my guy!
How would I look up and find what bolts go where? My kid came and grabbed some of the bolts and they got rearranged. There's two that are shorter than the rest and I can't get the bottom bolts in.. lmao
Great video. About to do the water pump on my 2001 3.9l dakota. Quick question for you. All you have to use for a gasket was the gasket that the pump came with? No gasket maker?
Thank you. Ive done it 3 ways. just gasket maker, just gasket, and gasket maker on both surfaces lol. to save yourself from doing this again, add gasket maker on the gasket. But no real preference for me.
Yeah sorry. i just dont know what specific part people want fast fwd and what people want legit explained. its a hard decision my end cuz i dont want a 30 min video cuz then people will gst bored. but at the same time i dont like to fast forward everyting.
But to explain in text. the fan clutxh kit come with that big red handle that has 2 arms. in each arm is a screw in nub that sticks out( kit comes with a skinny, medium and thick nub screw) The dodge has a thick type but i had the skinny ones and it still worked. you put those nubs in the holes of the water pump pulley and it prevents the pulley from spinning. and with the 36mm wrench, you unscrew the fan while holding the 2 arm tool to prevent the fan nut from spinning the pulley. hope this explanation helps. let me know if you need more of a breakdown.
That little black tube u stick back in new water pump is it supposed to be a little lose or a very tight fit my dad is doing his now and that black tube is a little lose even with the little o ring that u put on it so does it matter it’s a little lose
@@randalljwilson489 no problem. if you are still working on it. you can grab a little patch of silicon grease from the parts store(usually on the counter) and throw some on the o ring. when i did start it up it did weep a little bit. but after a heat cycle it sealed up for good.

Is it not necessary to put any teflon tape or rtv or anything on the bolts before putting back on??

it was a little loose for me also. but when you bolt the bracket down it doesnt move anymore.
@@hyr0llr thanks a lot he was worried it would be to lose and leak

is the fan clutch necessary?
To remove? or necessary for the engine cooling?
No one ever shows how to clean gasket off of the motor.
i had a blue scrubber like you would use for kitchen dishes. and a plastic razorblade scraper with brake cleaner.
@Kevin yes i guess you are right, cleaning gaskets is the worst part of doing motor work, have a good one.
Worst video. Sped through everything talked about nothing.
