It’s a shame that they always but these games out on the switch not optimized but never put any of these on the ps4 forcing people to buy an unweeded console. All that said I really want to try this game out. I just hope in the end they give the switch version some polish from what you have said. I love my switch but not when the game I’m playing is the worst version out of all. Sony has really been dropping the ball when a lot of games I can play on my Xbox on game-pass but not allowed on the PS4. Just always frustrating when a version of a game is lack luster on switch but can’t be on a system that could easily run it either. It’s all about that money I suppose unfortunately for most of us that’s a hard thing to come up with at times when just being alive costs a lot too.
Just FYI, Weta Workshop is the New Zealand based special effects and props company that Peter Jackson uses in pretty much all of his films (most famously they did the effects and built many of the sets in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies). I think Tales of the Shire is their first video game but they have an obvious conection to both 3d modeling and JRR Tolkein properties. I am on the fence about how their game looks though.

Another game I am skipping for Switch. Nintendo needs to push out the switch 2 already the last few games that I have wanted for the system are no-sales thanks to the performance issues. Guess I’ll be going the PC route for this as well.
The audio levels on the voice acting are actually insanely unbalanced and so deafening at times (at least on the switch version) I impulsively bought this on the switch instead of ps5 and kindof regret it, but it’s still a lot of fun once my eyes get used to the stuttering frame rate 😅
Just tried the game and it really struggles on the switch, the frame drops and pop-in are way too noticeable. Either wait for optimization or get it in another console I guess.
I was expecting the performance issues for handheld so thank you for confirming. I don't have the eshop credit right now (sadly can't buy it off SwitchUp) but by the time I do, the patches will have long since addressed plenty of issues, especially handheld performance. I absolutely adore the theme of this game. It so unique and absolutely love how the theme has shaped gameplay with the shells just so well done. Hopefully we see this on an episode of all patched up because it seems like an absolute blast
The nintendo Switch version is horrible. Almost unplayable. It's like playing a soulslike [sounds so stupid saying that] on the N64 without the expansion pak. It's absolutely horrendous and makes the game a joke on the switch. Dont be like me, and buy the game on Switch first. Get it on ps5 and ur good from the "rip", as the kids say. Said?
just got it, if anyone is wondering about what the fram rate is actually like pretty stable (im on docked) but visuals are watered down crazy. Still worth my 🤑
Thanks for this great and honest review. Can’t wait to see it in an episode of all patched up. I think once the patches roll out, that will help me decide whether to get it on switch for the portability factor, or just get it on PC for the better experience.
I'm one of those weird people that buy games on multiple platforms (provided they're on deep discount). I'll wait a while and pick it up on Steam Deck, Switch, and by virtue of Steam Deck, my PC for gaming on the go and to see the compare and contrast.
I’ve been excited for this one since the reveal trailer! That said, as someone who plays exclusively in handheld mode, this was the confirmation I needed to wait just a bit longer for some optimization patches to roll out. All in all, I’m glad to hear the game ended up being as good as I thought, and once it’s in a bit of a better state, I’ll gladly pick it up for myself!
I'm waiting til I'm paid next to get it, but it's encouraging to hear what the performance of the Switch release is like, and I trust Aggro Crab to deliver when it comes to the patches to iron out the existing issues, so it's definitely going on my wishlist for now.

Another Crab's Treasure is the Battle For Bikini of Darksouls I would recommend playing it on an Xbox or PlayStation due to performance but its definitely worth picking up, my current GOTY contender

I can hear people saying now. I wished the switch 2 is launching this year to help with the performance of this game in handheld mode. But guess what the switch 2 is not launching this year and launching early next year or later next year. Are you going to wait ✋ that long? I'm going to wait until the update for the switch version of this game comes out before I decide to buy this game for the Nintendo switch console. I'm in no hurry to buy this game. I have plenty of games in my backlog of my switch oled console to keep me busy as well as games coming to switch next month.
Hell even Hades currently on Switch is playable but chugs randomly. Swear after ive beaten it time and time again it was much smoother. The Switch just cant keep up. Was a great purchase but its been barely meeting most acceptable level of performance standards since release.

Awesome looking game. The crab reminds me of Sebastian from The Little Mermaid or Hawthorne from Sherman's Lagoon (a newspaper comic). Also, it bothers me how marketing ALWAYS has to label a game something like "soulslike" or "boomer shooter." I know they're trying to reach out to the younger gamers with labels, but still. A fun game is a fun game, irregardless of genre. Awesome review!!

I couldn’t. The unlocked frame rate with lengthy dips into the low 20s made it unplayable. Get it elsewhere if you want a playable handheld game.

Just beat it on switch. I can say to anyone playing turn off your console every 2 hours or so and reboot, it will help performance a bit.
