I love the testimony of Job! My testimony: After being an atheist for 8+ years, and "married" to another female, I got the urge one day to say out loud "IF there is an Almighty God that does NOT wish us pain or sorrow, please bring me truth, I wish to know you exist". Then God immediately started bringing me the answers I had been searching 8-11 YEARS for! I witnessed Him take control of my internet and the rest of my reality; He first proved to me that demons exist (I called them "inter-dimensional beings"), then He proved His own existence, which I later found to be Jesus Christ. As soon as I found Jesus at the end of 2020, He IMMEDIATELY took away my transgenderism, bisexuality, depression, daily suicide attempts, self harm, bulimia and anorexia; and He did this all without me asking Him to, because THAT'S how merciful and loving He is! Praise God!

Finally! I see so many Christians and Pastors talk about Jesus quoting Scripture to defend from Satan, but I rarely if ever see them mention that Satan _also_ used Scripture to attack Jesus. It's so important to remember that Scripture can be twisted and used against you, we can't be complacent. I'm glad Frank brought it up.

Job is also an example for us. He did not blaspheme against God like his wife did, and did not mischaracterised God like his friends did. He did not understand why God allowed for his suffering to occur, but he accepted it because he loved Him. And God did reward him for this love. Also now we do know why Job had to suffer - it was in order for book of Job to be made in the first place. Giving an example of faithful love to God to all of us.

Actually... his buddies didn't understand (or rather warped) God's view so He scolded them. As for Job, he complained about God to those three buddies for several chapters until God was like, "Bruh, you wanna manage the universe in My place? I know what's good for you; trust Me."

I was going to say, because Job had fear, wouldn't that open a door for Satan? Because if we just say fear of God means we just take whatever God does to us as His will, isn't God the same yesterday, today, and forever! And Jesus healed everyone, and the will of God is that everyone be healed, same as salvation is always the will of God, then technically Jesus died on cross for our sins (salvation) Aka. Already done... Jesus took stripes for our physical healing (sickness/disease) Aka already done. Does it not mean all we have to do is decide to believe and recieve, rather salvation or healing, rather than suffer and say its the fear of God why we accept a sickness? Especially when clearly the new covenant exclaims we are not partakers of any curse, as Christ became a curse for us???

Well...actually, I was referring to Deuteronomy 32:8-9 wherein the Lord allots territories to the people when he divides them by language, then scatters them throughout the Earth, giving rise to the various territories which became the nations..as told in Genesis 11. Here we see that when He divided the Earth, He assigned the various Sons of God...the Divine Council...as individual authorities over these people-groups/nations, and the Lord takes Israel (Jacob) as His portion.
      __________________________________________________________
_"When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance,_
      _when he divided mankind,_
_he fixed the borders of the peoples_
_according to the number of the sons of God._
_But the LORD’s portion is his people,_
      _Jacob his allotted heritage."_
      *DEUTERONOMY 32:8-9*
      ________________________________________________________
_"Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.” And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built. And the LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the LORD dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth. And from there the LORD dispersed them over the face of all the earth."_
      *GENESIS 11:1-9*
      ________________________________________________________
Dr. Heiser goes into much greater detail than I've obviously done here, as he references other places throughout scripture where the Divine Council is referenced. For example, we find a reference in *DANIEL chapter 10,* wherein Daniel prays to God and 21 days later an angel comes to him in response. The angel explains to him that he was detained for 21 days by _"the prince of the kingdom of Persia."_ This is not a reference to a human prince, but rather he is referring to one of these Sons of God, spiritual authorities...who in this instance was over Persia (the human authority being Cyrus). He goes on to explain to Daniel that he was only able to break through to Daniel because he was assisted by _Michael, one of the chief princes_ (obviously a greater power than the prince of Persia). He then goes on to say in *verse 20,*
_"But now I will return to fight against the prince of Persia; and when I go out, behold, the prince of Greece will come."_
_The prince of Greece_ being yet another spiritual authority, but from the territory of Greece.
The Apostle Paul also makes reference to these spiritual beings, along with spiritual beings of lesser authority under the princes, as found in *EPHESIANS 6:12...*
_"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."_
These beings are in rebellion against God, nevertheless, they are by then already defeated and awaiting the time of their judgment as we see in *COLOSSIANS 2:15...*
_"He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him."_ ("him" meaning of course, Jesus Christ).
An excellent way of getting an overview of everything is by watching Dr. Heiser's excellent movie *THE UNSEEN REALM* which is hosted by Corbin Bernsen. It's available on UA-cam.

Lucifer (now satan) had it all in Heaven...beauty, leader of the worship, surrounded by the beautiful things God had created & yet all of that wasn't enough for him, he wanted to be god himself & fell because of his pride. Then along came Job a man created lowly from the dust of the earth. God had blessed Job & put a hedge of protection around him so satan couldn't touch him. satan desired this blessed man of God to fall to nothing & to curse God & be sent into hell. But even after everything was taken from Job...his family & his health he still refused to reject or curse God.
So this was a learning experience for satan to see that even a lowly human created from dust can & did continue to worship & trust GOD no matter what. A very humbling experience & something satan should have done in Heaven instead of being full of pride.
Also a learning experience of how we all should act toward God, to remain humble & to THANK GOD for all He has done for us & all He has given us. GOD IS GOOD!

I think the story of Job is one of the most profound demonstration of suffering. Job was considered a Righteous man. God went to the extent of "betting with Satan". That's how much he trusted Job, yet he allowed Satan to touch him:but not his soul. Job gets ridden with sores and what not. His wife says curse God and die. His friends says maybe you really did sin against God. Job grew tired, impatient and lost it. God comes in the chapter 38 of the book not to answer to Job why he allowed that to happen to him. But to show Job his power, who he is and what he stands for. Asked Job that who is man to question me. When I was laying down the foundation of the earth where were you?. In my personal opinion. What I get from that passage is that whether we live or die, suffer or prosper, God is still God. He doesn't owe us anything especially when in times of challenges we approach him with indignation in our throat behind our prayers. God will be God regardless of my circumstances. I'll trust him too regardless.

The book refutes both the retribution principle and the prosperity gospel. It is not about the problem of pain, pain is un avoidable, if we are to have agency ourselves and the ability to repent. The book of Job is about the problem of Sheol. Pay attention to how Job speaks of Sheol. Remember, this is pre Christ and even before most Hebrew prophets. At this point, it is believed that all go to Sheol. For some unknown reason this all knowing entity felt the need to prove to Satan that no matter how much pain and suffering you inflict on Gods follower he will remain loyal. God did the same to Abraham when he made him sacrifice his own child just to prove his loyalty. This is not a loving God, this is a jealous God that requires you both love and fear it. You are his servant (Slave) and you might be tested like Job, you might have your children killed but don't worry they will be replaced by new children (like your previous children mean nothing). @@macmac1022The forbidden tree wasn't evil in and of itself. Initially, Adam and Eve were in the presence of God and his Spirit was with them 24/7 guiding their every step: their thoughts, their actions. They were free to think on their own but the Holy Spirit guarded their minds from evil and veiled their minds so that they couldn't even see their nakedness.
Now when the tempter came, he gave them the ultimate choice between submitting their will completely to God or having absolute freedom to make their own choices whether good or bad. Unsurprisingly, they chose the latter and for that, God withdrew his Spirit, but not entirely. In fact, throughout the generations, God has been restraining us from our wickedness and sending disaster both as punishment and damage control. And so we all to some degree obey God's word often without knowing it.
It's not the sinner that God has a problem with, (we all sin and he chastises us for it), rather, it's the unrepentant. We're finite creatures prone to making mistakes, taking dangerous shortcuts, having our own way even at the expense of others, which is why we need his help. Pastor David Hernandez would say that God cannot fill a person who is already full of himself. The only way God can help us to avail our hearts and minds to him. I can personally testify to this. Only in Christ can a man be made perfect. Glory to God!

It is simply the way that it reads that is rather confusing, and it makes it seem like God and Satan are a couple of school kids making a bet with each other, and meanwhile, poor Job has no idea what's coming his way! but it makes sense when Frank explains that it's from an observational perspective and it's put to us in a way that we can understand.

At the end of the year, let it be remembered, all are present together.
Eliphaz = Spring, begins gently, as if feeling his way, fearing that Job might be grieved; “yet who can withhold his tongue" (4. 2)? Though Job had instructed many, and strengthened them, he would remind him of his own weakness in time of trouble (4.5 5). The upright are not cut off; only they that plough iniquity - get into winter, perish by the blast of the Gods - the autumnal monsoon. None, not even the fierce (hot) lion, can withstand this. "In the visions of the night (winter) when deep sleep, Adam's sleep) falleth on men, a secret (the knowledge of evil) was brought to him, and fear came upon him, insomuch that his hair stood up."

In G'd 's own words Job did nothing wrong (if I'm not mistaken), yet he lost everything and in such a horrifyingly torturous manner. That story has several messages, but one of them; G'd is infinitely more scary than the devil, and His will is the only thing that matters no matter how wrong or right. He even shows Job this with that vision quest/whatever. Basically He tells Job he doesn't need to be fair or just. At all, because He's the supreme Master of everything.

God wasn't up in heaven crossing his metaphorical fingers hoping Job would prove God right. It's like when we pray...we aren't changing God's mind per se. We are communicating with Him and via that communication God may take one path or another.
Also, something the skeptic missed entirely is two actions of God may be equally moral. God had every right to wipe out Israel when they rebelled, but was also morally right when he sparred them after Moses interceded for them.

Being aware of when the truth is being twisted is important. Why?
Well to paraphrase a quote regarding medicine:
"The difference between a cure and a poison is often just the dose."
If someone who didn't know how medicine worked looked at the ingredients necessary for a cure and said "Well, I like this part, so I'm going to double this ingredient amount here!", *at best* he'll just be wasting ingredients. In all likelihood, he'll be hurting people instead of helping them.
If you don't know why the ingredients are there for the cure, then any attempt to correct the man who is doing things his own way will run into the problems of ignorance or subjectivity.
The truth should be recognized and understood. When it comes to important matters, you should spend time learning what is true *and why* because a lot of people will try to benefit from people who *don't* know what they believe, or who believe without depth of understanding.
    ----
The cross represents both love *and* justice: law and grace.
An incomplete picture of God's mercy at the cross is an unfaithful witness.
Jesus's love is shown *through* the cross. When the Bible speaks of Jesus's love, note how it refers to the cross, not just to feelings: to the wrath of God against sin that we deserve, and Jesus who - though He knew no sin - took our sin upon Himself that He may pay the wages of sin we were due to pay!
That God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself: He was not just 'dismissing' sin, He was dealing with it. He wasn't just grappling with *any old sin*, but OUR sin. My sin.
    You need the whole picture.
"The modern world is full of the old Christian virtues gone mad. The virtues have gone mad because they have been isolated from each other and are wandering alone. Thus some scientists care for truth; and their truth is pitiless. Thus some humanitarians only care for pity; and their pity (I am sorry to say) is often untruthful." ~G. K. Chesterton

The message of Job is the fact that God is not beholden to His creation. God has the authority to do with His creation what He wills. God prepurposed that Job would be tested by Satan, and in truth, tested by God, and it was done so that everyone who thinks it acceptable to question God will realize that God is not accountable to us. His Law is final, and His decisions will not be denied. Even Pharaoh was not allowed to change his mind in order to release the Hebrews, so that all 10 plagues were completed and the Passover, prophetically depicting Jesus through ceremony, would be established. As much as I love hearing what Frank has to say, and his answers, I have to respectfully disagree with his view on the parable of the talents; yes, it has been taught for so many years that we will be told "well done, good and faithful servant" after we die if we believed, but if we have believed, we have received Jesus in our hearts, his inheritance, therefore the parable of the workers in the vineyard relates to believers as we all get paid the same and the passages where Jesus awards people to what they have done, that is separation from him! We don't want that
So I think the parable of the talents is a parable for living on earth and what happens when you want to be judged by the Law of Moses

The young man's question about the book of Job also applies to the devil; why make a bet with a guy you know is omniscient? The answer Dr. Turek avoids is of course the most obvious one; that the God of the book of Job is not considered to be all-knowing. This was a later theological development. The concept of God is developed throughout the Bible, and even afterwards, when theologians developed ideas to harmonize conflicting accounts. God starts out as one among many gods, the tribal deity of a small Middle Eastern tribe who walks and talks face to face with people, and who needs to test people to find out if they really believe in him.

It was a member of the divine council whose job it was to roam the earth and report human activity back to God. Satan wasn't used as a proper name until the New Testament. The Angel of the Lord satans (opposes) Balaam in Numbers 22. Context is key.

Jesus in flesh represented fallen Adam, His purpose was to restore what Adam has lost. Jesus was tempted by the same one about the same things that Adam was, Adam believed the lies, Jesus didn't.
The reason why God know what will happen is because He exist outside of time, He can see everything that *happened* even to us it is in the future. Things still have to happen or else it isn't there. Difficult concept for us to understand...
