- On April 30, 2019 there was a shooting in a UNC Charlotte classroom. Two people died and four were injured. The following semester Dr. Frank Turek and Dr. Rice Broocks to reach the hurting students and answer their questions. Since God wants all to be saved and we have incomplete information in this life, will God give us a second chance after death? Dr. Frank Turek and Dr. Rice Broocks respond that what keeps most people out of the Kingdom is not their head but their heart.

If God is just, then each person will be judged on a case by case basis. And as its said in the video, i think christians will be judged harsher based on what they know.

I never knew happiness until I accepted Jesus Christ in my heart, now I have peace and joy that knowing I have a mansion in heaven waiting for me.
You know this? How? By faith alone you claim to know what cannot be demonstrated to be true. Faith is not a valid tool to discover truth. You could believe anything, anything at all on faith. You need a better toolset to distinguish that which is false from that which is true. Think, do not follow.

@Matt Smith why do you think that God wants you to be "tortured" for not believing in Him? What verses are you quoting that concept from? It clearly says that there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth meaning that you will regret the inability to renounce and repent of your ways if you die in your sin and you will become quarantined with all others that did likewise in what we call he'll which is simply a holding place that also includes the spirits of the departed nephilim and fallen ones that chose to leave their dwelling at the creation. If there is any "torture" it would be at the hands of those entities not because God willed it. My understanding is that none in hell will repent ever because they choose not to and that is the real problem.
Lucifer walked with Jesus, talked with Jesus, prayed with Jesus, saw Jesus perform numerous miracles, and received nothing but love from Jesus....and STILL never trusted in Jesus. Seeing does not translate to believing. Believing comes from the heart not the eyes.

In my concept of faith:
Two different kind of feelings.
1. Feeling controlled by your brain through your five senses, natural man.
2. Feeling controlled by the Spirit through your heart.
So does that mean that you have to blindly assume that the Bible stories are true? But you can justify any belief that way.

Many people in places like Iran and Afghanistan are coming to faith in Christ through visions and dreams of Jesus. It would be so sad to see someone on the outside looking in at people they thought never heard the gospel.
Don’t let your perception of what someone else knows or doesn’t know keep you from accepting the truth. Put your trust in Jesus, confess him as your Savior and Lord. Follow him and you will be saved!!!

The point of missionaries and anyone who serves God in any capacity is to work along side God. The Bible makes it clear that He is actually at work in us performing good works and causing our work to be effective for His glory. These “no preaching conversions” simply illustrate just how much God wants people to know Him. Even in areas where proclaiming the gospel is illegal for humans, God will speak directly to people’s hearts.
Awesome American Atheist, you are correct, all ideologies change lives. However, not all change is equal in quality. The difference highlighted in Christian conversions is qualitatively superior to that of other ideologies. The people we’re talking about live in oppressive societies. They were depressed, empty, suicidal, hate-filled, etc. as a result of adherence to the fundamental teachings of that an erroneous ideology. This is not a blanket generality, if you read the C0r0n it teaches these tenants. Christ teaches us to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. Doing so has resulted in love, joy, peace, patience, self-control, etc. for those who accept Christ. This is a qualitative improvement indicating Christ is superior.

Respectfully, I never said it was a superior method, I only stated that it happens.
It does make sense to preach on a number of levels: (1) because God rewards us for sharing our testimony with others. (2) We grow in compassion for others when we see their pain and know there is a better way to live so we share the hope of Christ. Atheism has no objective moral standard so it boils down to survival of the fittest. If an atheist helps a fellow human animal out that’s nice, but if he doesn’t there’s nothing to say he is obligated to do so. The results in Communist societies are disastrous. (3) When we share our faith we become more like God. He sent his Son with a message of hope, love, forgiveness, and grace. When we study his life and prepare ourselves well to share this message we can’t help but be more forgiving, more loving, more gracious, more generous, etc. As a result, statistics show that Christian nations are the most humanitarian places in the world.
If you’re interested in contradictions here’s one: have you ever noticed that atheists don’t want to live in countries that are controlled by atheists?
There is a reason why people flee non-Christian regions to find refuge in Christian regions. Christ is qualitatively superior.

If it happened once out of spontaneity, then it would happen infinitely; there would be an infinite number of big bangs. But I often use the argument that creation, where God said "let there be light", this was the big bang, the miracle, and the only way for something to happen outside the very law that we're all constrained to.

Yes, all little ones who die will go to heaven. It is written in scripture:

Every human being born had their names already written in the book of life. It is when we all sin (age of accountability, meaning when we're old enough to know between good & evil) and then make our life choice whether to accept Lord Christ Jesus or not, then after we die we are judged. If we are found righteous through the Blood of the Lamb then our names will still be in the book of life. If we are found guilty of sin then God will REMOVE our names in the book of life. Our Father is perfect, fair, just, and loving. He knows the little ones' minds are too little to understand between good & evil. Their names are in the book of life.

Literally just wrote a song about this topic. It’s gut wrenching to imagine how they’ll feel when they know the truth but are out of time. We need to hustle as time is short. If you are a Christian and know someone who is not saved, don’t wait, tell them the truth asap.

We haven't been saved on the cross....we are wicked as before....murders...drugs...rapes....even more than at the time of Sodoma & Gomorra, god knew that this is the outcome....so, why going to the cross in the first place.
If the Scriptures explicitly said we have a second chance to repent after death, no one would even try to reach for salvation during life. It's for the best that it remains a mystery.
I'd like to add to this and say also that some people that have briefly died and have been brought back to life (via padles, doctors, ect) said that while they were "dead" for about 15-20 mins that they saw hell. And they all say the same thing. There's no hope in hell, there's only torture and pain for eternity. Some of these people even drew paintings of what they saw and it truly was awful. My point is not that we're all going to hell, my point is that there is no 2nd chance after you die. When your flesh is worn out, you're done. That's why it's so critical that we share the truth of Jesus to everyone and save as many souls as we possibly can.

If you believe that Jesus come to save the people from their sins and to open a new page through taking the death on the cross and shed his blood even though he was innocent and then he saved himself just like he did millions of miracles to people of all different kinds he was able to raise himself from death just like he promised us to do it on the third day after he was crucified and died on the cross!! If you read the Old Testament and then you start to read the bible which is the New Testament you will understand everything and see for yourself why Christianity is the only true 100 dollar bill and all other beliefs and religions are bunch of fake stuff invented by humans but Christianity when you read the bible you will see for yourself why it is so much different than the rest! Islam is bunch of war and revenge and only doing good to those who do good to you back only!! Hindu and Sikh talks about food and you can not eat meat which is a big problem because you body won’t get the full nutrients and amino acids and therefore these two prove to be just human made stuff because they lead your body to be weaker and not as healthier as other people like Christians because Jesus said to eat from all the food and vegetables he gave us on this earth! Jewish is not completed because Jesus came and they still do not believe he came!! He came and there was more than 40 prophecies about him coming and when he came he fulfilled all of them every single one of them and the Jewish who believed became Christians but those who don’t the remained doing what they think is right which means human cult!! Buddha is not complete because Buddha himself before he died he said he is still missing something and that is Jesus Christ! Christianity is different than the rest because all religions and cults have a book include instructions and some are better than others but Christianity have the gift which is the blood of the lord Jesus Christ that it shed for us all to purify us from our sins because in the past humans broke the law and did many sins so someone have to pay the price and Jesus which is god in flesh decided to come down to pay the price for us that’s why we have the gift no other religion have! Urrcreavesh I believe that God torturing a sinner is a lie that the Devil came up with. God never wants to torture anybody. Hell is basically a universe/place that exists with the complete absence of God. We make a choice of going there God doesn’t choose for us. If God is everything good and glorious than it makes sense that eternity without him would be full of eternal fire and suffering. I believe in a merciful God and a righteous God who will always do that which is just. So I do not believe God will send all people to hell just because they did not come to know the truth of salvation. I believe he will do that which is right.

I think the question was whether or not God extends salvation to us after physical life, not whether anyone goes to hell. My point is that I did not perceive the questioner to be asking about the existence of hell.

I’m not. The story tells us a few things. One, Jesus used names in Lazarus, so we trust this happened and wasn’t a parable. Second, the rich man is in Sheol/Hades, not the lake of fire prepared for Satan and his demons after the final judgement. We see the rich man has become repentant and displays concern for his brothers, hoping someone could warn them. Thomas Aquinas insisted that wasn’t an act out of love, but I’m inclined to think it is.
In the Old Testament, believers went to Abraham’s bosom, or a nice place in Sheol/Hades. Nonbelievers did not, and probably went to a varying form of punishment based upon their sins. If you accept Christ descended for three days before His resurrection, that He was preaching the gospel to save those that would accept Him, we can accept that possibility of a “second chance”. However, one living with free knowledge of the gospel in life and willfully denying it if not outright ridiculing it and blaspheming against the Holy Spirit… Eh. Wouldn’t count on it, but I don’t know whose names are in the Book of Life. I will pray for the deceased as much as I do the living.

The pastor didn’t answer her question. He rephrased it, she corrected him, then he pivoted again, and she added another point that he went with instead. She asked if after death when people see God if they’ll have the option to change their mind and choose God. Neither of them answered the question.
I am living proof that to live for happiness will eventually make you unhappy.
But in saying that, I found faith in the truth and now don’t feel that sorrow most days.
Today I do. But I will pray and I trust tomorrow will not be a day like today.
Before I would try different things to make myself happy again but some days , you won’t find ANYTHING that will work. Except prayer.

That was a “fairness” question. God knows how to judge correctly and according to the truth.
God knows how to judge fairly and he also knows who will convert and have faith.
So, where is the free will again? If God knows all that is needed to judge, so that he can extend our lives if necessary, he already knows what our choice will be. As such, your choice is meaningless, he can judge you right now. Probably has, come to think of it?
So its fair when you die at age 10, never knew of god, and you're sent to Hell for simply not knowing. What about loved ones? What if you see your kids in hell while you are in Heaven, people you love, people you care about, you gonna be happy they are suffering in eternal tormenting agony & not you?
Hell is not a fair punishment no matter how much evil you do. Even PRISON is more heavenly than what God has created.

I think it's strange that Christians say that we're condemned because of Adam when the Bible suggests that you are condemned for your own sins. I agree that Adam and Eve broke their covenant with God and caused the fallen world. But I don't think we necessarily _inherited_ a broken relationship; I think it's more accurate to say that every human would have eventually failed in Adam and Eve's shoes so we're merely paying the price for our own current and would-be sins.

It would be more illogical if not so, because:
1. We are not living in the Garden of Eden anymore.
2. Living in this world is cursed.
3. We are sinful since birth.
4. Peoples are dying without causes: babies died at birth, birth defects, people died from random accidents, natural disasters, wars, crimes, pandemic, etc.
5. GOD didn't care all of humans sufferings?
6. The Bible has many stories when children suffered because of parent sins: David's child with Batsheba was killed, David descendants punished, etc. (it's too many)
GOD didn't have any obligations to save all of us or prevent us from any danger (this world is cursed, remember!).
So, basically by default human's fate is heading to Hell.
But, GOD provides salvation through Jesus' acts on the Cross, for anyone who is willing to acknowledge and claim it.

I like to hope that God is all-forgiving and all-loving and has a path for everyone in some way. I think back to the story of Abraham and Isaac. God was less interested in Isaac being killed and more interesting in Abraham showing his faith. So for right now, I think the correct answer to this question is, "I don't know." I think it's more important to demonstrate our faith without demanding questions to God's ultimate plan. And hopefully, just maybe, God has some surprise in life after death.

Very often people do get a second chance immediately after death.There are dozens of near death experiences where the person is clinically dead,goes to hell and calls out to christ and goes to the light,sees the lord and is saved.Ian Mcormack's nde is one example.

Right, that's IF they are revived. If they are not, then all hope for them is lost forever. Hoping to die and be revived for a second chance is obviously very foolish for a person to do.

This question has been my biggest hang-up for accepting faith in God. I still haven't quite worked it out. There is something very concerning about eternal punishment for temporal sin. Punishment doesn't fit the crime.
Its the hardest thing for me too. There is a a group of christians called Christian Universalist, I am studying their take on the bible.
A bit late to add my two cents but I have the same thoughts and concerns , the punishment does not fit the crime indeed, would be like getting life in prison for jay walking or spitting on the sidewalk, I have a hard time understanding how a loving all knowing god would put a person on earth knowing he will not make the cut and be damned for eternity and what about the countless people through history that didnt or couldnt come to know god due to up bringing or simple geography, are they condemed because of ignorance, that would be unjust. I believe that there is more to this than we can possibly imagine and there must be room for compromise. I am really trying to be a believer because lets face it, eternity is a long time and I dont want to end up in a terrable place but there is a lot of things that dont add up or make sense to me

Consider if God was a person, made in your image. Then attribute his acts and consider how those would play out among human society.
He'd be a manipulator, an egotist, a genocidal war criminal, and petty beyond all reason. If you accept that God is evil and only wants you to have faith so that he can hear more praise from the meat puppets he created, it all starts making much more sense.
God created angels to praise him day and night. What makes you believe he made humans any different? Or that heaven, his city, would be anything but constant worship of god, so that he can feel good about himself?

The only thing we have to do in terms of “work” is to believe on Jesus Christ our saviour.

There’s no way of knowing if you could change your mind or get a second chance. But it wouldn’t make sense anyways as it would give people an excuse to live however they want in this life knowing they’ll get a second chance later. It’s far more reasonable to suggest there isn’t a second chance. If you go to court & are guilty, are you gonna get a second chance or tell the judge sorry i’ll change my mind? No. You still have to pay for what you did unless someone else pays for it. And that’s what Jesus did. He paid the fine & all you gotta do is accept it!

Your analogy of the court is faulty. First of all: yes, a good judge will take your remorse into consideration when deciding on the penalty. Secondly, if our crimes are so serious that we will burn in eternity for them, a simple fine that anyone might pay for you would not suffice; you would be facing prison time or even the death penalty. And no judge in the civilized world would let someone else take your place in prison or on the electric chair.

If you have truly read the bible, examined the evidence, and conclude it's not enough for you, that's your decision. I have and don't know how anyone could read the bible and it not ring true with them. However, we see what we want and believe what we want. We would rather not believe and live our lives the way we want rather than worshiping God.

It isn't about "your remorse" at all. It's the fact that Jesus took the punishment for your sins, period. Nobody was/is good enough to earn heaven on their own and nobody was/is bad enough that Jesus' grace can't save. That's why Jesus' last words were "it is finished." He had completed everything He came to do.
@Urrcreavesh Not one thing in the bible has ever been proven to be untrue, period. Moreover, the bible correctly predicted many things that have happened since it was written. Jesus said that until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. This means that all that is in the bible will come to pass....the really good thing about that is that is going to occur whether you (or anyone else) believe or not.

The "God knows your heart" deflection also doesn't work, because what is the difference between conversion out of fear when you are not in mortal danger and conversion out of fear when you are in mortal danger? You can only make that argument if you say that all doubts may be punished with hellfire by your just and merciful god.

But then he also says that children who die before they can convert get exempted, as if God couldn't just have extended their lives as well?
Clearly, the far more logical thing is to accept the premise that God, all powerful and all-knowing, can extend the life of any human.
Thus, the people who convert late in life God knew would make this "choice" (it's not a *real* choice if God knew the person would choose it, but hey, good enough for Humans), and all the babies and kids that die young just would never have accepted Jesus in their hearts and are all burning in Hell.
I don't understand why Frank is shying away from this obvious and simple conclusion. Your baby is burning in hell, because they'd never have chosen God. It's just that simple.

How about the other foot, you find what you want to find outside of an objective observable reality, importing belief for something that can only be verified through faith, thus importing a purpose. I find without importing a purpose, life brings on more meaning as I only have 1 life 1 chance, religion imports a plethora or multitude of chances, what's the point of that?
One of 2 things is true, either religion is wrong or science is wrong, both created by man for man, one a philosophy the other evidential. I'll take my chances with the latter and no hard feelings. No matter the language, no matter the culture, no matter the upbringing, no matter the indoctrination, no matter the group, no matter the race, the science will always produce consistent results and is open to scrutiny or correction. Schism's on the other hand......Jehovah Witness, Seventh Day Adventist, Latter Day Saints, Catholic, Protestant, Apostolic(Old, New, Reformed), Baptist, Born again, Rhema, the list that just keeps giving!

I deduce by knowledge, understanding, the rational of what I already know of the natural world. If they are footprints that differ from those in my knowledge base, I research, I know by the constraints within the natural world that although not impossible , it's highly unlikely the footprints were in fact caused by the sea and wind.

Excellent question. Of course we can change our thinking after physical death. God's mercy endures forever. He mentioned that it is appointed to everyone once to die and after that the judgement. The judgement has not happened yet and millions and millions have already died. Also scripture says every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess Jesus as Lord which scripture also says produces salvation.
