  • Welcome back to the channel. Its amateur hour in the body shop!! In this video I start the body work on the quarter panels. Taking you back to how it started, both sides of the car received quarter panel patch panels. We tried our best to retain as much original sheet metal as possible. The majority of these quarter panels are not reproduced, or currently discontinued or on indefinite back order. The car was taken down to bare metal, coated in epoxy primer and this will be the initial stages of body working the quarters and rockers. I am using rage body filler, and an assortment of sanding blocks , long , short, round, rectangle. I am using some durablocks, some home made blocks, and also some acrylic blocks. I hope you enjoy this video and as always, stay tuned for more work!

"Do the hardest job first" words to live by for sure.
Looks good and you are getting some time in on the 60.
Do you think the low spots for the trim clips was because the clips were put in with a hammer ?????????

Haha. Yea a good general rule of thumb is 8oz per panel per coat. So to primer a 64 door. I'd mix up a out 24 oz for 3 coats. Or what I'd do is mix up 12. Give it one coat. Then pour it back in cup and see what is left and calculate from there.

Hello. Have a question. Generally, how many hours would you say it take to do a lowrider? Ik it kinda depends on the build but i just want to get an idea. Any info would be greatly appreciated

You should check his series on the 61,I think he tallied the hours at the end of the series

@blue32nu I did watch, but I don't remember seeing or hearing him speak on that, but I will go back and check it out. Thanks

On the 61 I had over 700 hours. I have a spreadsheet on it. That car didn't have any metal work. Just fender patches. It's really had to gauge because every car is different.

@lonestar lows just a quick Google search on hourly body shop rates (California low end) is $42x700 hours is $29400! That's just labor!!! Now the price of materials and car puts you into the 6 figure category if you have a shop build for you. Definitely not for someone light on funds. I suppose that's why projects take decades if even they get finished!
