So Cerberus is about communicating with the dead, Medusa about the specific case of the ice statues I guess, and Kraken seems to gather time-travel related objects. I think Siren is the supposed to be the internal security division by the way it is referred to, it also fits it's name. Kraken's name might come from the wheel, maybe it was their first object, or maybe it's a more loose association, but I think they're time-travel related because at least three of their artifacts are directly implied or suggested to come from a different era, so maybe the term "snapping event" means that something got snapped out of it's time and thrown into presence - or maybe it's something else. I don't about Phoenix, and I think Chimera isn't being mentioned at all by other divisions.
I believe most/all of kraken's objects were recovered from the sea alongside the potential timetravel aspect - most of them were discovered off of coasts & the like
Kraken - oceanic time travel "snapping" thing Cerberus - guarding a gate to the next world Siren - this ain't a "siren" like on a cop car, but the singing, seductive mermaid/mythologized manatee. 100% chance their people got mind controlled and thus broke contact. Medusa - these are people turned into ice, hence their outrageous detail. The monster turns people to ice like Medusa turns people to stone. Chimera - "translation error" leads to an inability to connect, and chimeras were hybrid creatures. My guess is this site was a cooperative site with another intelligent species, hence the need for "translation." Phoenix - a firebird associated with rebirth. This one is more speculative, but the "line is busy" when you try to call, despite none of the other lines being busy. To whom are they talking, then? It's possible Phoenix is calling Cerberus in order for us to watch the tape--we are the resurrected dead being debriefed. It's also worth noting that the three dead astronauts in the capsule was a reason to contact Phoenix--maybe to return them to their timeline intact and alive. On Siren, I might be wrong, because I just translated the wingdings over the phone that boots you out of Tape 3, and it's "SIREN."
Something about a phone going "behind you" when im playing a game is terrifying. It gives me this paralyzing fear that there is actually something there and i usually can't turn around
It's an interesting game, but what Ireally enjoyed was the fact that there was a mini-segment half-way through the video wherein Manly found the DnD group of the company haha!
ya made me think of prey tbh. that game had a dnd group as well. which is fitting because elder scrolls exists because the devs got into dnd so they kept adding rpg elements to their arena fighter game.
When one of the employees mentioned playing a game in the conference room I hoped it was dnd, and seeing that the dev put in the effort to write character backstories was so nice too! A really cute detail
What do you mean, check your priorities? Are mini cars not more important? I think you should check _your_ priorities! Your _'life'_ isn't _nearly_ as important as the *mini cars!*
Maybe one of the reasons everyone blamed the security guard at the end was because they were searching for a reason for their death, however misplaced it may be. Everyone who died blamed you because you were the one who let them past the gates. In reality, as we can see from the other endings, even if you let nobody in and told everybody to leave, tragedy would have happened anyway. Plus, at that point in the game, everyone is in their own sort of limbo. Perhaps this was the security guards perception of his own actions and he's feeling guilt for the small part he played. Idk, I really like all of the additions to the game and I feel like its a really cool story. Like, there was nothing you as an individual could have done to avoid your fate. Even if you had just walked away, you likely would have died anyway. Maybe, even if nova nexus had never touched the artifacts and tried to study them, their power and supernatural effects would have led to destruction anyway. I also love the idea that the implied director of nova nexus is a separate supernatural being that is omniscient through the phones, and I love how we have no idea why they collect all of these artifacts or even what they want to do with them. It's just one big mess of hubris and greed and I love it
I get the feeling it's what the five page note just repeating "I shouldn't have let them in" is referring too. I suppose Manly's idea that the whole game is a purgatory for someone higher up the ladder could hold weight. But when I saw that note I immediately wondered if you really were just a security guard who considers that they let one of the entities in to have fallen squarely on their shoulders, even though it was impossible to stop it. You either let one in and they mess things up, or you don't let anyone in and the project goes haywire. It's a no-win scenario (which honestly as a player I'm not fond of, I think an ending where you manage to do everything correctly leading to a "You win TODAY" sort of ending would have been a nice trophy at the very least) and it's highly unlikely it was any one persons fault from the highest researcher to the lowest...security guard, but it's human nature to look back at the mistakes we've made and assume things would have been different if we'd reacted differently. It's a form of hubris in itself to assume one person holds that much power in most cases but it's really more about trying to find atonement for our mistakes.

So, each of the Stations was researching a possibly paranormal phenomena that is in some way related to the mythological creature that the Station is named for? Medusa, the Greek Gorgon whose gaze turned people to stone = People being frozen/turned into ice statues by an unknown entity. Cerberus, the three-headed hound who guarded the gates of the Greek underworld = A rift? into the afterlife, or what seems to be the afterlife. Chimera, the hybrid of lion, goat and dragon that terrorised the Greek kingdom of Lycia = Unknown? Kraken, the Norse giant octopus/squid that devoured ships = Artefacts related to/found in the ocean? Siren, the Greek bird-women whose voices lured sailors to their doom = Unknown, but seems to have been the "Head" research facility, since some notes mention reporting things to them and Medusa had to request new equipment from them? Actually, given what Sirens do, deliberately luring people to their end, I wonder if the other stations falling wasn't down to bad luck so much as it was down to design... Phoenix, the firebird who dies and is reborn from it's own ashes = Unknown, but possibly related to space, since that one Artefact, the space pod, mentions reporting the astronauts to Phoenix? Honestly, I love that this creepy little game has been expanded upon so much, and I kinda hope the devs make more games set in the same universe, because I really want to know more about the other stations...
Huh ending 5 has backwards voices. Cool can't wait to see what people will find. Note/edit I am playing a human in a pathfinder game, he is not bland and has a decent backstory.
Wow, I didn't expect this to get a commercial remake. I quite liked the original version, and I'm impressed by just how much has been added. The collectibles are amusing, but the story additions really make this into a whole new beast. We go from a company doing some sort of shady business and upsetting the natural order to full on SCP style global organization doing a lot of really dumb, bad experiments and everything going sideways as you'd expect. I liked the original's simplicity, but this remake is still impressive.
I LOVE how after explaining the branching mind of a 100%er and all the exploration, manly finally finds the collectable car and then he celabrates like: ...yay... ... actually that's pretty relatable.
@@ManlyBadassHero oh my god you replied! Ahhhh thank you so much! You're awesome! Please do get your sleep though and take care of yourself. Thanks for the content!
1:23:30 Manly, I remember that ending as well. The one when a car comes out and a car from the sky smashes on top of it. So, if it is the mandala effect then we are from the same parallel reality 👍
Here's what I think the other stations may have been up to: Siren: Not too sure about this one, but may have dabbled in mind-control or hypnosis or have found an artifact that induces those effects. Chimera: Biological experimentation (specifically, fusing different living organisms together, hence the name) or studying the effect a certain artifact had on living creatures. Phoenix: While Cerberus was attempting to contact the dead (then overreached and contacted the void), Phoenix may have been running experiments relating to raising the dead. This may be a newer station.
Yeah in the original game there was two other endings, one was the car being dropped onto another car that was leaving the building. And then there was the giant monster in the distance. Idk why they didn't include them in this game but ay! I like the change into a corporation that experiments with stuff
A lot of people were confused by the car falling onto another in the original so I thought it would be best to just make something fit more closer to the theme of the game.
I didn’t realize how many indie games go for the Nintendo/PS1 vibe until I discovered this channel today. And I love it! Such nostalgic style that takes me back to simpler times
It's usually cause it's a lot easier when your mind fills in the gaps. The artstyle is much more conducive to one person making it consistent than something realistic or completely original
The detailed sound design in this game really elevates it.... There were some REALLY scary screams at some points. But also the spooky sounds during the dungeon segment.
The reversed text said "Audio Recording". I think the booth itself is some sort of alien object or SCP that causes several issues depending on what happens to its "pilot". That's why there's that light pillar triangulated exactly on top of it, perhaps for some sort of scientific experiment reason. It might be that the booth only works when there is a pilot inside it, which is you the security guard (a.k.a. the disposable test subject, as it was mentioned that you got the job despite remembering that you did not apply for it at all). The booth then maybe acts as a conduit or a pathway across different dimensions or for all sorts of beings. If you let the wrong "things" in, they get into our world and sugar honey ice tea hits the fan. The people who go in who are actual employees are researchers going in to perform experiments or check on things already in the experiment. The tiny cars might be the real cars with people in it who have gone through the "booth" and came out shrunk or some other quantum shenanigans.
Actually, about the "I got the job even though I didn't apply for it" might be one of the employees that bled through ears and eyes Or even the director, way back when he started working there and before he most likely lost his mind to the void. At least that's my theory, because the first tape seems more like either that employee centered or director centered. Either way, that person got lost in the void and bad things happened
So that final car's plate changed because it was DE4 T93 which I believe stands for Death, then changed to ER6 84B likely to help mask its entry into the building because that blue car is suspected to be death itself.
Did Manly ever play the game, "Do you copy?"? There is a sequel to it coming out soon called "The Leeds Murder" and I thought it would be good for him to play it before the sequel comes out.
I really like how this game doesn't have one dominant core theme. It has a mix of Supernatural, Science fiction, Psychological horror interwoven with each other. I actually appreciated that. The supernatural element is experienced, but there's no direct confrontation. Mostly passive scare tactics which I liked more than engaging with the entity. I like how in depth and varied the sci fi stuff is. The Dark Wormholes, The explosion, the Tribeam detonation, etc. Then comes the psychological horror. The Person who got off the car gave off major serial killer vibes. The Kraken Archives is the perfect showcase of the game's strength. I think Kyle should make use of the fact to craft another great game. Slowly chip away at the Mystery of Nova Nexus.
Its interesting that the "Im a new guy working here" car actually had its number plate change completely everytime you look away, which i guess its a good way to guess instantly he indeed doesnt work there, thou it would have been interesting if the first plate number you see was actually correct and it changed due to the anomalies.
I think "Ending 2"'s phones are all the families being notified of the deaths of their relatives who worked at NN. "Your families will be notified" and then it's just a graveyard of phone calls
You're the best horror-related gameplay channel i watch. I love how you get straight to the point and how you don't scream and be loud on the microphone like some youtubers usually do.

Do you has the food? 57:12 those of us nerds who grew up on NASA in the 70's and 80's know it's an Apollo capsule, hinting at a classified Saturn V moon mission. 57:52 nice *Lost* reference. 1:11:36 wow.. another one. I guess if you turn the wheel, it transports you to a random part of the world? 1:21:06 you missed the note on the left.
I love imagining someone watching their coworker looking around frantically and muttering about how they must find the mini cars, ignoring the life and death situation.
Wow! I remember this game being one of the first few videos i watched from manly's channel, I really like his calm demeanour when playing horror games!
This game was definitely inspired by the first half-life game. Sci-Fi setting, extradimensional stuff, Scientists ignoring all the warnings, the radioactive goo and automated security in the 2nd tape all scream Black Mesa. Most of all, the "convergence point" at 24:20 reminds me of when Gordon pushes the cart that triggers the Resonance Cascade, from sound effects to visuals.
Was watching some older videos when the new one popped up. The amount of amazing never ending content makes my nights so relaxing. Loved they came out with an extended version of this game. Liked the demo and the directors cut has so much new features
14:16 I noted the change. Can't believe Manly missed it. If you would at least remember the first three. 21:00 the car was that ghost lady that was in the original game. She would also disappear after you checked her number, talked to her, and picked up the phone.
24:57 is in reverse- * alarms blaring in background with a woman’s voice whimpering * *Woman* - “shut it down now!” *Man* - “it won’t shut down!” *Woman in the background* - “HELP!” *Woman* - “then pull the damn plug.” *Woman* - “someone is inside.” *Woman in the background* - “HELP!”
I really like his deadpan speech as it really works well for these games, more so when he gets surprised and finding things that makes those events more impactful.
The metal hatch at 57:57 is a 'Lost' reference! It's the famous hatch from 'The Swan' station, as it also had QUARANTINE written on it and exploded later on.
pretty sure the turning wheel beside a well is a LOST reference as well. overall the story with the 'moving on' concept seems to be heavily influenced by the series :)
23:37 as a night security guard I can confirm that I just sit on my phone and play games the whole time, nothing happens besides alarms that genuinely mean nothing going off that I then shut off

_The life of a 100 percent-er, encapsulated in one video_ Somehow, as a security guard, you contributed to the success or ultimate kaboom of the facility by letting the right one or wrong ones in. The basis of that original plot was continued here, with more lore which I enjoyed. I'm thinking of the DnD role playing, wondering if the players were corporate friends from the different facilities. And I wondered if you, the new security guard, were somehow the descendant of the original Royal Guardsman who didn't destroy the device? You were great in completing the Quest for the Cars!!
He didn't notice how one of the chairs in the room where they wrote down results was flipped up, because Natasha was dead and thus her seat was retired

Seriously this game is amazing. Way more than I expected from the premise. Some really cool sci-fi concept stuff, well-executed dread, doesn't rely on jumpscares to get the fear in you. Fantastic.

I believe most/all of kraken's objects were recovered from the sea alongside the potential timetravel aspect - most of them were discovered off of coasts & the like
Kraken - oceanic time travel "snapping" thing
Cerberus - guarding a gate to the next world
Siren - this ain't a "siren" like on a cop car, but the singing, seductive mermaid/mythologized manatee.
My guess is this site was a cooperative site with another intelligent species, hence the need for "translation."
Phoenix - a firebird associated with rebirth.
@@pondrthis1 The OP got Siren right then. It's internal security.
Phoenix is their space station
The only other mention of chimera is one of the cars saying they came from that facility and hoped cereberus was a better place

46:20 "quick look for mini cars while everyone is running for their lives!"
ah yes Manly with his priorities
I giggled at that when it came up in the video.
25:00 what’s being said in reverse here:
Female voice: shut it down NOW
Male voice: it won’t shut down!
Female voice: then pull the damn plug, someone’s inside!

I can't believe a game where you just guard a security booth become a full-fledge game full of mystery and interesting story. Its crazy.
As someone who lives the life of a 100%er, I hate it when I accidentally go on the RIGHT path. It never lets you go back, and I have to do the whole thing over again
Manly just sitting there and playing mobile games on his phone is the most realistic part of the whole game

Why did I imagine one of those cars hitting the booth and running him over before it even started?

Never thought this would have a director's cut
This version of the game has +100% more director's cut!
One hell of a great surprise.
your employer should install a security cam that allows you to check the plates without you leaving the booth
But that would cost so much moneeeey...
they dont even have a search function or a robot that can do that automatically, like cmon
I didn't think that this would get a big release. Cool!
1:23:30 Manly, I remember that ending as well. The one when a car comes out and a car from the sky smashes on top of it. So, if it is the mandala effect then we are from the same parallel reality 👍
Me too!
It was in the first game
The dev said he removed it because it was confusing too many players
It's cool seeing this game get a heavy release like this. This...this is the most important security guard in the world. Nay, the universe!
Barney Calhoun: Am I a joke to you?
@@BunnychanFarabee No... Barney wasn't a mere security guard... He was a soldier
Paul Blart: Am I a joke to you?
Here's what I think the other stations may have been up to:
Siren: Not too sure about this one, but may have dabbled in mind-control or hypnosis or have found an artifact that induces those effects.
Dang, they really expanded on this game! I’m super impressed! Great for them.
Is it just me or is Manly's voice the best I've ever heard
Not just you, manly have those smooooooooooooooth voices man!
it's like a warm, manly hug
I liken it to audible silk...or one of the coziest Minky fleece blankets. :)
He's simply built different
It really is , its like a soft warm voice , pretty good to listen and he is not forcing it to be more higher or lower.
The detailed sound design in this game really elevates it.... There were some REALLY scary screams at some points. But also the spooky sounds during the dungeon segment.
I really appreciate Manly for being the completion-ist that he is. Feels like we can count on him to get to whatever secrets a game is hiding.
Actually, about the "I got the job even though I didn't apply for it" might be one of the employees that bled through ears and eyes
Or even the director, way back when he started working there and before he most likely lost his mind to the void.
At least that's my theory, because the first tape seems more like either that employee centered or director centered. Either way, that person got lost in the void and bad things happened
quantum shenanigans

I love your way of censoring that, lol.
I can’t believe I got jumpscared by the last ending
Which was just the shadow man dancing to carameldensen lights 🤦♀️
I wonder how many people thought "Oh, if he's new, maybe he's not in the system yet" and let him in.
I think "Ending 2"'s phones are all the families being notified of the deaths of their relatives who worked at NN.
"Your families will be notified" and then it's just a graveyard of phone calls

This game was definitely inspired by the first half-life game. Sci-Fi setting, extradimensional stuff, Scientists ignoring all the warnings, the radioactive goo and automated security in the 2nd tape all scream Black Mesa. Most of all, the "convergence point" at 24:20 reminds me of when Gordon pushes the cart that triggers the Resonance Cascade, from sound effects to visuals.

It's the famous hatch from 'The Swan' station, as it also had QUARANTINE written on it and exploded later on.

Somehow, as a security guard, you contributed to the success or ultimate kaboom of the facility by letting the right one or wrong ones in.

24:35 "Why on top of the security booth, what did I do?" honestly goes through my head at least 10 times a day.
