  • The Ferruccio Lamborghini museum in Bologna is amazing. If you want to know the full life story of Ferruccio Lamborghini then you need to go as it reveals how he went from working on the family farm to becoming one of Italy's most successful entrepreneurs..

    Look up Tyrrell's Classic Workshop where Iain was invited to tune the Lamborghini Riva boat. I guess one of a kind and still running.

      My thoughts exactly. Stiffness of a wet lettuce and the side impact protection of a party balloon! A similar car that made me cringe with the doors up is the Aston Martin Bulldog. Scary stuff.

    Thank you for showing the museum, it brought back a nice memory of my father. After the oil crisis in 'the 70's 'Lamborghini' designed a heating system that used old engine oil as fuel, and from memory it was aimed at commercial service centres which at the time had to pay to dispose of it. My father was sent over to the factory to learn how the system worked with a view to bringing it back to the uk. Several pictures of him stood outside the main building and internally of the boiler room where they used their own old oil to heat the factory! Ferruccio was a very clever man.

    Wonderful and fascinating video of the Lamborghini museum. I imagine there aren't many people left from the original days of Ferruccio as the "sign of the bull" is often misrepresented. The Maŕzal name, for example, came from breeders of the Spanish fighting bull in Olivenza, a beautiful village south of Badajoz. This brings me to Ferruccio's relationship with the world of Tauromaquia... and his friendship with Eduardo Miura. More than one model name was inspired by him and "Los toros de Miura" are still legendary today across Spain as the Miura is asociated to Lamborghini in Italy, I'm sure! Lastly, so good to see that beautiful - and so rare - Islero there. "Islero" was the name of the fighting bull that took the life of a very young - and brave - Manolete so many years ago. It was one of Eduardo Miura's...

    If my memory serves me right, the Riva Aquarama was originally powered by 2 x V8 6.7L Rolls Royce engines but Carlo Riva fell out with RR. They were replaced with Genral Motors V8 6.9L Cadillac engines. Mr Lamborghini must've thought his engines more superior, or wanted to add a personal touch to his to make the change, i'm not sure if he replaced the RR or GM lumps but, having heard one of these GM boats running myself, they are a petrolheads dream. Another epic vlog Harry, thank you.

    Fabulous tour Harry but you got the Urraco / 308 thing the wrong way round... Gandini's 1970 Urraco prototype lead directly to his Dino 308GT4 design three years later. Ferrucio rejected that first prototype in favour of the second one (which looked much closer to the finished article), then when Bertone were given the brief to design the Dino 246GT's replacement Gandini dusted off his drawings for the first Urraco, tweaked them and turned them into the 308GT4. Ferruccio's plan was to produce a thousand or so Urracos a year, alas less than eight hundred were built between '72 and '79.

    I watch your channels for farming and driving. Love them. But our family business was office equipment and the typewriter on a stand between two cars caught my attention. Typewriters, calculators etc of the day were complicated machinery with hundreds of finely machined parts. So I wonder about that Typewriter. Is it an Italian "Olivetti" Typewriter that Lamborghini had a hand it. Or maybe a Typewriter he designed or built? I've never heard of a Lamborghini Typewriter but I never knew Morris powered his early tractors either. Thanks guys. Cheers 🇨🇦

    • @aDaWaN

      Hi James! I was in the museum a few months ago and the typewriters are from a private collection and shown as a temporary exhibit in the museum. I do not think they are directly linked to Lamborghini, but as you say they are from the same era and area as Lamborghini. Unfortunately, I have no further details, but there were a few rare Olivetti's on display!

    Amazing history. Italy was coming out of WWII broke and many countries were able to get funding for the working man. The Mini, the Fiat 500 and the VW Beetle were a result of post war austerity. Ferrucio building tractors made him a firm favourite for the common man. Enzo with his sense of entitlement held no love for the poor and treated everyone with equal contempt. No wonder sports cars became an obsession for Lamborghini. The fact that they only produced cars for the super rich only made them more desirable and in America were called exotics. Production values weren’t that great and rust proofing was not a consideration but as works of art they are up there with da Vinci and Van Gough. The latest hyper cars owe their DNA to these entrepreneurs even if the price can be far in advance of most buyers.

    Tractors, boilers, Supercars, powerboats and, almost, helicopters! Great info! 👍Obviously a very talented engineer with a keen eye for a business opportunity and the passion and drive to make it happen.
    I can just imagine his run in with Enzo Ferrari over the quality of his cars, being fobbed off and thinking, sod it, I'll build my own and build it better. It's like a story from Boys Own magazine. 😃
    I've always liked the Islero, first saw one on TV, driven by Roger Moore in 'The Man Who Haunted Himself'. A gullwing Espada would have been really special. Maybe it presented some reliability or safety issues?
    Not many things sound better than a Countach on full noise, a powerboat with two 8 litre V12's could be one of them!👍👍

    • @Spacenut1234
      @Spacenut1234 12 хвилин тому

      It's there at 11:30 - only it isn't a Nova, or a Eureka, but an unauthorised copy of the Nova Mk1 called the Puma GTV, produced in Rome by Adriano Gatto. The example in the museum belonged to Tonino Lamborghini and was fitted with an Alfasud boxer engine. You can tell it isn't a direct copy of the Nova because Gatto used a forward-hinged canopy, as well as a one-piece bodyshell.
